Once the most expensive perfume in the world, still stands strong in the list. Legendary bollywood superstar Meena Kumari used to wear this iconic fragnance
To me this is the most beautiful perfume of all time. It is sad that LVMH has seen right to discontinue the original scent by selling the name to Dior😢
@@karriekendel4490 watching these iconic fragrances be cheapened down and driven out of business is like watching a great cathedral burning down and not being able to do anything about it...
Quite a few online perfume retailers still have ""Joy" by Jean Patou"" that appears to be the same Jean Patou "Joy" in that bottle. Are these knockoffs? It's really too widely available to be old stock, so I'm confused. And it would be $400 if it were the few remaining bottles of true old stock. What's going on with this? Supposedly it's been discontinued but "something" that looks exactly like it is still widely available. (I'm not referring to the Dior version.) Please advise if anyone knows as I'd like to buy some.
I recently found out that ALL Jean Patou scents have been discontinued aka killed off. Also, I read how the original Joy formula or scent first changed way back in the 80's and then changed every single time the company got bought out. Very unfortunate either way, mainly because this is or was my mother's favorite perfume along with Deneuve which has long since been discontinued.
I was just gifted a bottle of Joy Parfum by Jean Patou today by a very kind volunteer at a thrift store that supports victims of domestic violence. In the display case was a bottle of this iconic perfume with a price tag of $30. Unfortunately it was over my budget. After I paid for my items, I told them the following true story. When I was married to my first husband in 1987, he came home from work and said, “I bought you the most expensive perfume in the world. I bought you Joy perfume. Then he hands me the box. Well right on the front it says‘Version of Joy’. At the bottom was the price tag for $10.50. I was very upset for two reasons. 1 because he could have afforded the real thing. 2 because he must have thought I was too stupid to notice the difference. After I told them that story, one of the volunteers says hold on, I’m going to give you something. Then she opens a drawer and takes out a small box and hands it to me. 37 years later and I finally have the real thing. I am so overjoyed right now.
I leave in Danmark and in Danmark i stll can find it. Perhaps it depends in which country we are leaving. I dont know.. But i just read Poeme by Lancome has been officialy discontinued. Another beautiful perfume..
@@karriekendel4490 They completly stopped making fragrances . I to bought a bottle edp Joy last week. Its there but you have to really search for it 🙂
We definitely miss this treasure. It was such a distinctive & luxury fragrance. I can imagine how it will be missed.

I would have started with Vivien Leigh but I'l take Meena Kumari
I’m a guy and I love wearing Joy, I have some vintage bottles too.
I'm a guy and I wear it too... I just love the pure parfum and I've hoarded a few vintage bottles too!!

We still have them here in mainland Europe. You might wanna try to order online.
Stunning fragrance but so sad that’s it’s discontinued they were brought out by Christian Dior smells tropical with out the coconut like warm skin x
So sad it's discont. I used to wear it and I simply couldn't find any fragrance that I like as Joy.
I saw a bottle today in my local TK Maxx - may have to go back tomorrow to purchase! 😉
I still have my bottle of Joy that I bought in Paris in 1985. However, I can no longer open it. The top has been stuck for years.
Ah, that's a shame. Lovely to have, though. X
Use it and enjoy I saved a bottle of it once and it went rancid
Hi Karrie, what are the flowers behind you called? Carnation?
Also, what have got on your nails, it looks lovely?
Jean patou always classic
I have a bottle of the oil unopened i think back in the day it was like 300-400 dollars for one of them back them.
Astounding! Tragic! Joy is gone?!🥺
Sadly, yes. I'm wearing it now, from the same bottle I reviewed, and it's so sad that this seems to be the end for this iconic fragrance!

I'm so glad you have a bottle of Joy at long last. What a beautiful gesture that was. Enjoy every spray - you deserve it. Xxxx
Does the LVMH version also have Jean Patou on it?
I don't think so - I haven't seen a bottle in the shops for a long time. X
Ecxsuse me but Joy its not discontinued. I can find it everywhere on line. Here in Europe you can still buy it easy.
Patou's Joy? Good news if so. When I recorded this video it had been discontinued and the only stock I could find online was dead stock.
