I hope these always online games like NFS 2015 get a different treatment from the publishers. Because shutting down only a part of the game experience (like GT5 online features) is one thing, but shutting down the entire game (like NFS 2015) is a completely different story!
Fully agree. A plan should be put in place for when the game is delisted/shutdown which involves patching the game to remove the online master server checks as well as, if necessary, bring all the content that was stored on the server (stuff like saves and custom content) and save it locally so that the game can fully function without a server.
Considering that the game is almost half a year from launch, we could also ask them to enable offline play on the disk itself as opposed to relying upon a patch, as patches are also dependent upon the internet for access and thus also susceptible to disappearing and preventing game preservation.
You make a very good point, but I decided to say post-launch because, while in the long run having it be on the disk from the start would massively help GT7 be preserved, the reality is that when it comes to projects with a deadline, it's really not realistic for Polyphony Digital, at this point in time, to develop an offline mode and then include it in the game prior to its launch in March. From now until launch, the scope of the content that will be on the disk is pretty much set in stone at this point. Meaning that any new additions would have negative repercussions on the viability of the game's current release date. Adding an offline mode before launch would mean they would have to dedicate resources to design it, develop it, implement it into the rest of a game that's also in active development, and then put the feature through QA testing so that it functions properly and doesn't break any other aspects of the game. This type of scope creeping has the potential to push back other aspects of the game from being finalised before launch, potentially affecting the quality of all the other elements of the game, especially if the feature becomes troublesome to implement. So I figured it wouldn't be fair for me to be like "give offline mode now muahahaha". Instead, it's far more realistic and fair to ask for one post-launch since it can be effectively planned for and developed once the core content is finished and out the door.
This always online DRM bs is destroying the gaming industry. However i understand that comapnies, games developers, publishers want to protect their products, franchises, this doesn't look good for the future of gaming as an industry. Too many games are now becoming online-only, with the closure of NFS 2015 servers for good, the future of gamig looks bleak if this is becoming the new norm in this industry. People pay to buy games they like, so they can enjoy these games at their own leisure in whatever small amount of time they may have on their days off work. It doesn't help the fact that console gaming requires subscription to play online, whilst PC gamers pay nothing to play games online, which is why i jumped from console gaming to PC gaming because i got fed up with this practice. I can play any PC game online without paying a single penny for any silly subscription minus the Internet connection, this is one of the main reasons why i stopped playing Gran Turismo on Playstation. I didn't like the direction they were heading in since GT Sport. Always Online DRM bs. I could play any other racing sim on PC online for absolutely free. I see no future for GT 7, sorry guys, i just don't. They even locked out 1-2 tracks in offline mode. GT7 will be identical to GT Sport in regards to internet connection & content. Thats a big no for me. I think i'll stick to PC gaming from now on.
sadly, you cannot patch a live-service if is in the core of the game. like example. need for speed the run has a similar problem despite no being a live service. if you own the game in whatever platform you have, you need to dissable the network because the game doenst have a time out request action for the server connection response. and a probe of a live-service that cannot be patched is ghost recon breakpoint, the crew games, and the most well know, need for speed 2015. i know is a bible, but in still pissed of by soyny doing what xbox got bodied at 2013
I ain't buying GT7 and buying Forza Mexico instead Is an insult the 100% online They made the same mistake with GTsport, they lost lot of $$$ And..... They doing it again? That is a mid finger to the fans
the irony in your tumbnail. 2 delivers (GT7 and NFS 2015) being a live-services and already showed us how bad it played for them in the past for both IPs. and Ponys defending what xbox did in 2013 and the backlash that hit them hard for the years to come

Nice vid
My quarterly exams have started so I can't watch yt until the end of this month. Sad as I won't be able to participate in the live streams
No worries dude, good luck with your exams!
I enjoy watching all your videos. Keep going.
RIP NFS The Run Multiplayer 😭
We should be warned when GT6 simply disrespected its main theme, Moon Over The Castle/Knight's Song.
It’s outrageous that GT7 can’t be played offline during its release. Again could that change as you said in this video?
It's possible it can change post-launch. But we'll have to wait and see.
