For the meme with scotland and brazil, scotland was beaten 5:1 by germany this EM, and Brazil was beaten 7:1 by germany in the WM. ( EM= Europameisterschaft (Eurocup) WM= Weltmeisterschaft (Worldcup) )
Thanks, was gathering together my vocabulary but you explained it so concisely!
Also, Scotland isn't even responsible for the one goal they got, that was an own goal by Germany.

In case no one has explained it yet: German memes sometimes make up words to mimic the English meme template and meme culture. For example: "Zuhausis" is a literal translation of "homies". "Kyber-Lastkraftwagen" is a literal translation of "Cybertruck". These words do not exist in German. It's part of the special humor.
An inverse example would be calling a "Volkswagen" a "People Trolley".
Apparently, I'm too old for this kind of humor. I get "Zuhausi" and "homie" but "Kyber" and "cyber" makes no sense to me...
@@SmartAndyKyber is the German version of Cyber (as in Kybernetik - Cybernetics)
@@neonsparxxyes, I already came to that conclusion. I somehow ignored that cyber derives from cybernetics.
@@SmartAndy Kybernetik is the german word for Cybernetics.
7:40 It's a reference to a legendary German video clip of a building site manager losing his shit when he discovers that the place where a massive crane for moving 60 ton loads was supposed to be set up hadn't been properly compacted, meaning it couldn't be used as a foundation. He basically goes on a rant on how the people responsible were a bunch of incompetent never-do-wells who can't even hold a tape measure straight.
ID Ccll1mKk_3w, if Ryan want to react to it :D Would be fun, but it's a bit short.
He's not wrong though.
The TicToc / TickTack is pretty much the same as the Boomer / Eploder one. It's this reddit in particular, which translates English words, commonly used in German, word for word into German instead of using the English word.
In this case the sound of a clock in German is "tick tack".
True, but why didn't they translate "rappen" with "pochen" in this case? It's inconsistent. Here they even had the chance to have the sound of a clock and the sound of the heart in one meme. And they didn't use it. So disappointing.
Zuhausis=Homies
If you pronounce the E at the end of testosterone, it sounds like a pasta.
I am both astounded and disturbed by this😂

Actually it sounds more like minestrone which is a soup... So maybe your hormone soup
Yes Hamburgers was inventer in Hamburg (obviously) for the ships that traveled to America they tried to keep the meat longer fresh so they tried around and the result was an early version. Since they came from Hamburg they called it Hamburger and it tasted so good that they kept and improved it to the Hamburgers we know today.
The dish from Hamburg that the hamburger is based on is very different. It uses pork roast and brown sauce and you don't eat it with your hands. Perhaps the hamburger was invented by Germans, but definitely in America. And I was born and live in Hamburg.
@@wZem Ist OK ich bin auch deutscher.
I think we face here a similar Issue that we have with the Berlin Döner Kebab. Some immigrant took simply a dish from the old country to the new world, or it became popular there and overtime developed to something new that has only a general resemblance to the original.
@@wZem yes, but there's also Frikadellenbrötchen.

Some of these memes on ich_iel are probably best translated using a dictionary and just translating word by word. That's how they're made in the first place, as the language used often is intended to invoke the feeling of "this was translated word for word from english"
The Lord of the rings meme was the cybertruck ( which used a direct word by word translation as many memes so cyber gets Kyber and truck gets Lastkraftwagen). The TÜV as you guessed represents the legal authority to give permits to cars ( in reality it is the Bundeskraftfahrtamt, but for the sake of the meme we can go with the TÜV) and sure part in the film was to say "you shall not pass".
How about you invite a German from your discord for the reviewing if you need more context. That would probably be great content

15:26 it's not just the hamburger (created in Hamburg, Germany), it's also the Hot Dog (1888 Frankfurt/ Main) that was created in Germany, although the name Hot Dog itself is danish (1938). Both foods are german. And they were not invented by imigrants in the US, but on german soil.

A lot of people call the ambulance or come to the ER for stupid stuff, but we often shuffle patients, when their conditions are more urgent. If you come to the ER with a beesting, be ready to sit there for a few hours (unless you are allergic). I am from austria, but i have never seen someone wait for months for a necessary surgery. Everything life-threatening is immediatley treated.
There maybe a waiting list if you want to have a surgery by a very busy specialist, but this has nothing to to with calling the ambulance or the ER, as they are very different departments in a hospital, mostly it would be even different hospitals.

Hamburger - city of Hamburg, think about it :p
But it doesn't come from the city of Hamburg.
Aswell as a Amerikaner doesn't come from America.
@@GalacticCommanderMars what about the Berliner? 😂
@@GalacticCommanderMars Indeed, the exact origins of hamburgers are quite complicated and stories are contradicting about its invention. But the name itself is most likely refering to the city of hamburg and the so called "Hamburger Stück", which was just a bun between bread and some sauce. But it was still much different to tha later Hamburger, which in todays form was indeed by an american. Another assumption is that it was simply called Hamburger because northern germans were known to be great meat eaters and it was a hint at that. We'll never know for shure but the connection is there one way or the other.
@@Ashitaka0815The concept of a beef patty in between two halves of a small bread is actually a very common thing in Germany, with the dish having a different local names in different parts of Germany, suggesting it’s been around for quite a while. It’s not quite a hamburger, but similar enough to be its original form. It’s not like hamburgers are made using ham. Thus the name is likely somehow derived from the city of Hamburg.
EM means European Championship (Meisterschaft in German),

To 7:48 : it’s written phonetically. Our word in German for cat is “Katze”. In this case the frog has an allergy to cats. well it kinda sounds a bit weird if you’re saying something while you’re having your allergy attacks or symptoms. But it actually means something like, “Cat” (above) “ cat allergy” (the title downstairs). And the “Alerschiii”, supposed to be a sneezing sound.

From what I remember the Hamburger was originally a German ground beef (mixed kind) patty with onions in it (Frikadelle, Bulette, etc.) and it was eaten with bread dumplings for breakfast/lunch by German dock workers in the US, it then later became the Hamburger and yes it has its name from the city of Hamburg (biggest German freight port). The dock workers supposedly came from that city and thus it was at first known as that thing those Hamburgers ate, later it became the Hamburger.
I can explain about the three seeds: This is the new cannabis law. Cannabis has recently become legal in Germany and it is permitted to possess 3 female plants for personal use.
When sailors came back, they wanted something warm and handy to eat. So the people put a bit of beef into a roll. So the sailors could take something warm to eat back on the boat.
As for the cat meme you were trying to understand - your translator translated 'zuhausis' to 'people at home' when really it's the German version of 'homies'. I'm guessing it's more like Facebook homies though, bc otherwise it's hard to keep up with 1.5 million friends :P

The New Yorkers called the dish "Hamburger" cause of german imigrants that brought it with them and which came with ships from the harbour of Hamburg.
It's actually contested as to who created the Hamburger. A lot of sources actually say it was a Danish guy called Louis Lassen who immigrated to the US.
(The Library of Congress also awarded him the title of the creator of the hamburger)
The Hamburger was indeed created in Hamburg by a German but back than it was just the bun and the burger patty. When the burger found it's way to America they made it to what it is today
The best and most well-sourced origin story of the Hamburger that I know of traces it back to Hapag, who offered all-inclusive emigration journeys to the US at one time, incl. quarantine in Europe and a get past Ellis Island or return trip and money back guarantee. Their lower-class accommodations weren't exactly stellar but definitely solid, and to save on dishwashing costs while still providing proper meals they would serve Frikadellen in a bun -- combining the ordinary Frikadelle (meat patty but with onion and spices and thicker) with the North German tradition of fish rolls. Then, over in New York, you suddenly had a gazillion of people from all over Europe knowing the basic principle of "What the Hamburgers fed us", the patty became known as "Hamburg steak", the whole thing in a bun as "Hamburger", and then they added Ketchup which wasn't really known in Europe back then, if anything you'd see gravy as sauce for such a thing (as in Rundstück warm).
2:00 Doxxing is a crime in Germany. So can go to your Public prosecutor's office and press charges against the officer on top report the original crime.
6:36 That meme is referencing how in the Worldcup 2014 Germany has beaten Brazil in the semi finals with a 7:1, which was deemed impossible before it happened, since Brazil is one of the most passionate football nations in the world, everybody thought Germany would really have to fight for a victory and at best it would be a 1:0 or a decision in penalty shooting, but then 7:1 happened, a true football miracle, and later on Germany also became Football World Champion 2014.
At the opening game of the EM something similar happened, where Germany has beaten Scotland 5:1....and in this case, the :1 even was a self goal by Germany.

Well, a hamburger is what you get, if you take a traditional german Frikadellenbrötchen and replace the actual bread with whatever a burger bun is supposed to be
This is a great format. Germans are know-it-alls and need to comment to raise engagement
3:00 One has nothing to do with the other. I've never seen an emergency doctor perform a life-saving surgical procedure in a hospital. That's what surgeons are for, and there are only a limited number of them, and they don't drive around. To put it another way, even if there were fewer ambulance calls, there wouldn't be more surgeons.
The meme was about the contrast, not causation.
Apart from the meme being about Emergency service being misused for minor issues: It is totally possible for a surgeon to also work as an emergency doctor, "Zusatz-Weiterbildung Notfallmedizin" is an additional quailification available to any doctor (or Dipl.- Med) willing put in the additional effort to meet the requirements. Especially in rural areas there are qualified doctors of all specialty fields taking turns for emergency on call duty.

1. In German, the 〈e〉 at the end of a word is never silent. It is pronounced [ə]. In the case that you can’t distinguish [ə] from [ɐ], pronounce it [ɪ] as in “bit”. Exception: The 〈e〉 at the end of a verb in first person singular simple present indicative active, e.g. “ich spreche” actually can be dropped.
2. In German,〈ie〉is pronounced [iː] as 〈ei〉in “receive”, not [aɪ] as 〈ie〉 in “pie”.
3. In German,〈ei〉is pronounced [aɪ] as 〈ie〉 in “pie”, not [iː] as 〈ie〉in “receive”.
15:00 it is indeed. No very detailed infos, but best guess is that someone from Germany brought the "Hamburger Frikadelle auf Brötchen" (typical german kind of a meatball on a bun) to the US from which the american Hamburger evolved.
7:25 This meme is about an old meme (which went viral) where someone was very angry bc of that
Junge Junge Junge Junge Junge Junge Junge Junge Junge Junge
It's not that hamburgers were invented in Hamburg, but they came to the US via Hamburg Altona. US americans are simple people.
Frikadelle, Boulette, Fleischpflanzerl, Fleischlaberl, Fleischküchle, Fleischklops, Gewiegtebrutl, Hulle, Rundstück, all names for the same thing. A patty of minced meat that is cooked in a pan, sometimes eaten between two slices of bread or in a bun, for convenience.
The Germans probably did not invent it, either, as it is a way bigger deal in the eastern parts of Europe, especially in Poland. Like with most cooking stuff from the East of Europe, the usual suspects for spreading the concept are the european Jews.
Ground meat patties already existed in ancient times, with similar recipes found in different cultures, such as the Romans and the Mongols.
A Rundstück is a bread roll, "Rundstück warm" is slices of pork roast on halved bread rolls with gravy, served with pickles on the side. Might've inspired the hamburger somehow, but has nothing to do with ground beef.
8:00 your own translation was correct!
Of course, food is often an exchange of ideas and products, but here the Hamburger takes its name from the city of Hamburg, so it seems hard to believe that the Hot Dog is not German, at least in its version with bratwurst, mustard, and bread
8:17 Sanifair is a provider for public toilets. Especially on Autobahn rest stops, but also in some shopping centers and train stations. When their parent company Tank&Rast began buying rest stops and installed self-cleaning toilets they also installed turnstiles and charged a 50 cent fee. But they "gave you the money back" in form of a voucher for a 50 cent discount when you buy something at the gas station shop. This was a clever concept because it gave you the impression the toilet is somehow still free and it lured people into buying way overpriced snacks.
They then raised the toilet fee to 70 cents a few years after and now it's 1 Euro, but the vouchers are still only 50 cents. So obviously people don't like them that much.
That's why the man in the meme states he would take a dump on the toilet seat to "get his money worth".

It actually IS the Cybertruck.
So yeah, the meme is about TÜV, who are responsible for inspecting and rating vehicles, not giving the Cybertruck a rating as being road save (mostly due to it lacking a crumple zone, which means than in a head-on collision, the thing getting compressed would be the driver rather than the front of the vehicle).
Needlessly making and using literal translations of anglicisms is part of the posting etiquette on Ich_IEL. They translated the word Cybertruck, even though everyone in Germany just uses the English name as a proper noun.
The 1€ toilets are the service station toilets in Germany. At the good service stations with a petrol station, you have to pay 1€ to go to the toilet or you cheat your way through the turnstile when nobody is looking. And yes, there are people who leave these toilets really disgusting. When I went to Denmark last month, someone littered one of the toilets with toilet paper.
3:00
That's a VERY rudimentary view.
you wait that long because the public hospitals are being 'optimized' into the ground, there are too few nurses and doctors (either hired or who want to work in this overstretched system) and there is an active campaign by a private hospital company to make the state close public hospitals "because they're not needed". When they're closed, there is not enough care provided and the private hospital chain buys the closed public hospital and reopens it. That forces all the locals to use their care which means more tax reduction/revenue for them "because they fulfil a necessary role in society".
The first version of a Hamburger is a German creation.
We have multiple theories of Creation:
1. "Frikadellenbrötchen" (fried meatball in a bread roll) was eaten in germany since ~1700.
2. "Rundstück Warm" Roast pork slice in a bread. Mosten eaten in Hamburg Harbor since ~1700 or earlier.
The "Boulette" (a fried Meatball) was a france creation of early 1700. Germany is a Bread Nation. We took the french "Boulette" in a Bread.
But the Americans have perfected it to a real Hamburger.
btw. the name “Hamburger” already says where the dish comes from.
The Hamburger was invented in America. It is named after the city of Hamburg, as many European immigrants left Europe from Hamburg. But the dish that the Hamburger is somewhat based on is very different.
As a german, i totally understand the sanifair meme.
We got some dirty toilets on autobahn rest stops and you need to pay 1€ to use them.. its just unbelievable expensive
With the Gatz one: You were right on the money with this being about cat allergies.
The German word for cat is Katze. This kind of meme format basically replaces the "hard" consonants (K, P, T) with their soft counterparts (G, B, D) which makes it sound like baby-speak.
Sanifair is a public toilet provider, mostly found in train stations and service areas. They're a bit infamous for charging what many people consider an extortionary price of entry, so the meme basically says if they're gonna make you pay that much, then you might as well go and take a shit on the toilet seat to make it worth that kind of money, since they're gonna have to clean that up now.

It's a huge misconception under Germans that the Hamburger was created in Germany. In fact, the inventor of the Hamburger, Jack Hamburg, later migrated to Germany and founded a city where he became the first Bürgermeister and later Burger King.
My favourite true story from now on
In the 19th century, sailors from Hamburg were known for eating "Hamburg steaks," which were fried ground beef patties served between two slices of bread. Many German immigrants brought this culinary tradition with them to the United States, where it quickly spread. Several American cities claim to have invented the hamburger as we know it today, with local variations and additions
Source: Trust me bro
yah i remember that one. Just keep in mind germans are just the direct ascendants of Samuel German (inventer of the german chocolate cake) and germany was just invented by an advertising company to create an trustful origin story for the german cake.

Hamburgers were named after the German city of Hamburg, where they originate.
The KaDeWe is the "Kaufhaus des Westens" (shopingmall of the west) and it a big shopping center in west Berlin. Made in the DDR times to show people from east Berlin how awesome capitalism is or so^^
And yes "Hamburger" as they are called here are from Germany.. from a town called "Hamburg" our biggest harbor citty... from there the "Hamburg- Amerika Line" operated back then so many people migrating to the US came through Hamburg.. and took the idea of the Hamburger with them to the US... is was in original a lunch idea for dock workers.. to give them bred, meat and salate in an easy to transport and eat way.
that kyber meme is indeed refering to the Tesla cybertruck... since it doesn't follow regulations in germany you can't drive one here . at least not yet
I don't think it is sure that Hamburger are from Germany.... but I guess it is the most valid theory. I think it was considered a fast meal for people working in the port on ships.
I agree, but even if it was invented in the US I think it probably was a German immigrant. So, I guess the meme is not wrong saying it was invented by a German. Especially by the usual American logic ("I am German/Italian/Irish when I have even remote German/Italian/Irish ancestry").
I would translate "Zuhausis" with "athomeis" which just describes people who are usually at home but don't have to be at any given time.
Hamburgers were created in Hamburg (German city) by a Swiss named Oscar Weber Bilby and his wife.
Hint: Whenever you see the word "fickend" in a post, it has been translated from English to German.
Or "TickTacker"
Or "Zuhausis"
Or "Kyber-Lastkraftwagen"
The hamburger is a bit of a controverse thing. Like originally putting a slab of meat on bread was a thing in Hamburg and other harbour cities, so sailors can have a cheap and quick food, right in the harbour. Its said that when Germans emigrated to the US, that they brought this dish with them, but the hamburger, as we know it today with minced meat? Thats not really confirmed where it exactly came from and when. Its a theory that it evolved out of that dish from Hamburg and its name from there, but there are enough different theories and claims...
The medical issue is pretty easily solved. The doctor has to decide if an emergency treatment was warranted. If not the person has to pay the full expenses plus a penalty fee.
That would stop that shit pretty quickly.
