I saw an interview with Goldie where she said the sweetest thing about Kurt. She talked about how she and Kurt were lying in bed when Overboard happened to come on TV, so they decided to watch it (even though they never watch their own movies). In the interview Goldie said about the experience of watching the movie with Kurt (which was decades after they had filmed it): "You know how sometimes you forget why you fell in love, I remembered everything and why I fell in love with him."
I saw that interview. For some reason it made me laugh imagining them casually going “oh, our movie is on, you feel like watching it? It might be pretty good”.
The off screen chemistry between Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn really shows in this movie. It's great to see a Hollywood relationship last this long, they have been a couple since 1983. Also, this is one of those movies that is not as widely known anymore, but very well loved by those who know it.
Kurt Russel is pretty much a can’t miss actor. He’s been in Hollywood since he was a kid and has had stability throughout his entire career. He never won an Oscar but he’s like Harrison Ford on screen with his charisma. I think it’s pretty amazing he and Goldie have been together the entire time.

Love this film. It was actually the brainchild of Roddy McDowell, who appears in the movie as her Butler. He wanted to remake the screwball comedy's of the 1960's.
Just in case some may not know, screwball comedies go all the way back to the beginning, just like musicals and westerns. Some of the best ones came out in the '30s, but yeah, there are a few from the '60s also, like One, Two, Three and Irma La Douce.
@@thomast8539 that's true.. Roddy was quoted as saying that he wanted to emulate films like bringing up baby and especially the romantic silliness of the Doris Day film of the early 60s..

Kurt is an amazing actor. He started acting at 12, and by the late 60's entered a 10 year contract with Disney, and has been in so many classic films; The Thing, Tango & Cash, Big Trouble In Little China, Soldier, Backdraft, Stargate, & Swing Shift with Goldie (this film was before Overboard), and so many others. Goldie has a ton of great films, Bird on a Wire, Pvt. Benjamin, and Death Becomes Her, etc. I recommend all of them :)
Another vote for “Backdraft.” Kurt Russell’s acting was on fire in that one! Also, you really need to watch “A Perfect World” with Kevin Costner, Clint Eastwood, and Laura Dern.
"Who is Pee-Wee Herman?" I was dying laughin! Now you gotta watch Pee-Wee's Big Adventure! So glad you watched this and your reaction is just the sweetest and genuine as always. Thank you!
I was looking for this comment and prepared to make it myself if no one else did! I think you could classify Pee Wee's Big Adventure as a summer movie. One of my favorites of all time and so few reactors watch it.
I believe everyone knew this would be a movie you would love. I also believe you will be getting a lot of requests for Pee Wee Herman's first movie "Pee Wee's Big Adventure" (1985). It's a must watch family adventure comedy. As for Kurt Russel - There will be a lot of movie suggestions. I'd love for you to see "Used Cars" (1980) - it's a raunchy rated R comedy with a love story thrown in. Goldie Hawn recommendation - "Privat Benjamin" (1980). a rated R war comedy.
I honestly think this is one of Goldie's best roles. To be able to make someone hate you as much as she did in the start and to have you genuinely care about her by the end. It's not as easy to do as some people may think. remind me of Jessica Rothe in Happy Death Day (i'm really surprised she didn't become a huge star).
The First Wives Club is so good. That came out in 1996. Which was 9 years after this movie came out. She doesn’t do a lot of movies now. She really doesn’t need to anymore. 🤷🏾♀️
That's so cute that you know Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn as Kate Hudson's parents while I know her as their daughter. It's like watching movies with my daughters hearing you talk about what you're seeing. Tell your parents thanks and congratulations, they must've done something right :-)
Cassie, I really appreciate you taking the time away from your family to show us your wholesome beautiful heart. Your parents must be so proud of the gems and precious heart you and your sister have. I have fond memories of my daughter sharing movie experiences with you and your sister. Please let your husband and kids know how grateful I and, I believe all of us here are, that the sacrifice time with you to let us share in the joy they have with you everyday.
Life imitates art as as Kurt and Goldie are together celebrating their 40th. Anniversary together! As with previous comments and totally agree, every movie Kurt is in is great! He has tremendous intensity and at the same time, shows the human, funny, compassionate and practical side of his characters he portrays. Cassie, Kurt and Goldie are starring together in "The Christmas Chronicles " Part 1 and 2. A must see for you and your family! you will not be disappointed!!😉
The best line in this movie is... "I think we can take Olaf." He said it with such confidence. I remember laughing so hard at that line when this movie first came out.
Since you mentioned not knowing "Pee Wee Herman"....the actor who created that character passed away today. Paul Reubens, whose alter ego Pee-wee Herman became a movie and television sensation in the 1980s, has died at 70. Today - Monday, July 31, 2023. With his signature bow tie, drainpipe pants, falsetto voice, and flattop hairdo, Pee-wee, as embodied by Mr. Reubens, became enshrined in the popular imagination as a symbol of childlike whimsy. He later had a very controversial end to his career which I will just not mention out of politeness.
Private Benjamin is a fantastic Goldie Hawn film. Wildcats is another personal favourite. Big trouble in little China, Soldier, and Escape from New York are great Kurt Russell films. For Halloween I would absolutely suggest The Thing for Kurt Russell and Death becomes her for Goldie Hawn, too.
Did you recognize the Portuguese man who rescued "Annie" from the water was Hector Elizondo from The Princess Diaries among many others? Her destruction of the teacher without ever cursing was beautiful. This came out in 1987, so Goldie had recently given birth to their only child, actor Wyatt Russell in 1986. Wyatt was in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
This is a wonderful reaction, but first things first - YOU MUST WATCH PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE!! 😂😂😂 So surprised to see you ask who Pee-Wee Herman is. You absolutely HAVE to watch it. He, and the movie, are amazing. ❤❤❤
I'm an 87 baby and even at the time when it came across my tv screen, thanks to parents with great taste in films, every moment of it was enjoyed. Mind you, it certainly hits differently at 35yrs old than as a child, but Kurt Russell was almost always gold.
❤ Thank you for doing this one. ❤ This was one of my late wife's favorite movies so even though it's a fun comedy I watch with a lump in my throat. I don't even know how many times we watched this one together. BTW it was Patrick Swayze who looked like Kurt Russell. Kurt was a child star and had over 15 years worth of experience before Patrick did his first movie. You could actually do a whole poll on just Kurt Russell movies. He may be retired now, but from working with Elvis, to playing Elvis, and making a successful leap from child actor to movie star, he's had a heck of a career. One last thing, if you haven't looked up Pee Wee Herman, you need to check him out. LOL
Right? Totally agree. Makes me feel less dorky about being so emotionally invested in older movies where I feel the plot is well-written/acted, at least compared to today's overly recycled plots. 😂
Could not have said that any better. I am a 55 year old truck driver, and my sister, brother and myself like the same movies as Cassie and Carli (sp), have the same type of running commentary while watching any of them, and seems like the same kind of general sense of humor as well. Cassie, if the rest of your family is at all like you and your sis....rent a big boat, have a bunch of your fans/friends buy in on an afternoon party trip, and let's all watch some funny movies on a big screen on board!!! 🤣
Wow, you got real emotional on this one. In the hands of a lesser director and other actors, this could have been awful. But Hawn and Russell have such great chemistry onscreen, and Garry Marshall shows how great he is as a director, which hit the big time with Pretty Woman. Yeah, I'm gonna have to watch this again, it's been a while. Thanks for sharing!
Overboard, Captain Ron, Escape From New York, Escape From L.A., Big Trouble In Little China, The Thing, and Tango and Cash have always been my favorite Kurt Russell movies. And most of the rest of them also.
I think she'd be under the blanket a few times during BTiLC but there's zero chance she makes it through the thing. She'd get a good ten minutes in or so but that scene with the dogs in the cage is where I think she "nopes" right out of there 😂
I knew you’d like this one. My favorite part was when he says what can I possibly give you that you don’t have and she says a little girl! That was perfect!
When I saw that you were watching 'Overboard' I laughed because I couldn't believe you hadn't already seen it but I also KNEW you would absolutely LOVE IT!... and sure enough you did. And yes... you can re-watch this movie over-and-over-and-over again... everybody's seen this movie like 16x. It's one of those movies where if you catch it on tv you stop what you're doing and watch the rest of the movie.
I’ve mentioned it several times, but it hasn’t happened yet. It’s so well done. It Happened One Night was redone for radio. I think it was the Lux radio Theater or something like that. All the original stars recreated their roles. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s worth your time to look it up.
The fact that they were married and stayed together makes this romantic comedy even more special. I'm 62 and live alone and wish i would have found that one love that lasted forever.
I loved that you said “comfort movie”, my personal comfort movie is actually also a Goldie Hawn movie called “House Sitter”. I highly recommend that one if you haven’t seen it. Watching it just makes me happy. BTW, it’s lovely to see a young woman who is so compassionate and sweet.
Great reaction Cassie. This is a great 80s movie. For Kurt Russell, Big Trouble in Little China is the quintessential movie, though it may be a little bizarre for your tastes. It would be fun to see you react to it. The Thing might fit your scary but not too scary for Halloween. Miracle would be one to watch with your sister. For Goldie Hawn, Death Becomes Her for Halloween. Private Benjamin is an army comedy you would enjoy. And Wildcats has her as a football coach.
Omg yes Wildcats!!!!!! So many people on that movie too!!! And yes Big Trouble in Little China is bizarre but still one of my favorites. Love Kurt Russell and Kim Cattrall in this one!
The trick to understanding big trouble in Little China is to realize that Kurt Russell's character is not the protagonist, he's just the guy the camera follows.
Her chauffeur/butler is played by veteran Hollywood actor Roddy McDowell. He was a child actor. "How Green Was My Valley" was a big movie that you should watch. Other notable films were "Lassie Come Home," and "My Friend Flicka." As an older actor, he played a vampire slayer in "Fright Night," and starred in many TV dramas and comedies. He occasionally guest starred on the Carol Burnett Show.
This was one of those movies in the "old" days of pre-streaming TV and it would just be on basically every weekend. This and Ghost I've probably seen the most, just because I would see it was on and stop to watch it, no matter where it was in the story. I'm so glad you liked it, although I knew you would! Wish your sis was there to watch it too 💚💚
For as long as I can remember, this has always been one of My Mother's all-time favorite movies; I shared this Reaction with Her and We Both really Enjoyed it...Thank You!!
I can't believe you haven't watched this movie! I knew as soon as it popped up that you'd love it. One of my favourite reactions, I've already watched it twice. I'm so glad you enjoyed it 🙂
When I first watched this, I thought Goldie was playing the ultimate snob looking down on the entire world and I hated her character. Then they showed him doing everything underhanded to bring her home and treat her like a slave and I thought less of Curt's character. I thought the kids belonged in a juvenile home for criminal minors. But my wife saw something in it and so we kept watching it. Boy did that movie redeem itself by the time he realized he loved her but she would not believe they did not belong together. I was really liking the movie by then. And then she said, "Hello, Grant!" and the fecal matter hit the air oscillating device. Finally, it was them diving into the sea to be together and I realized this was the ideal romcom. I absolutely love this movie!
You know you like Cassie’s channel too much when you’re still watching a new post at 3.20am 😂❤. Kurt Russell’s films Backdraft and The Christmas Chronicles are great films. Goldie Hawn’s films Private Benjamin and Deceived are great films too. Thanks for the great video as always Cassie 😊❤❤
In an interview, Kurt was asked how he had managed to stay married for 40 years (I think it was one of those Google autocomplete interviews). His answer was “Marry Goldie Hawn. If you can manage that, then you’ve got a pretty good chance”
If you liked Overboard, which showed Kurt's amazing comedic genius, but also his wonderful acting ability that he's honed since appearing in Disney films back in the 60's, you've got to watch the classic, "Big Trouble in Little China!" Super fun!
Oh man, I'd forgotten Ray Combs was in this. These are my favorite kinds of movies. Those '80s-'90s low- to mid-budget, probably-aren't-gonna-set-the-world-on-fire affairs that just tell fun stories with appealing actors. Glad you enjoyed it as much as I always did! 13:32 _"Holy cow, she looks like Kate Hudson."_ There's a good reason for that. 😂
sadly it wasnt a massive success, it made $26million of a $22million budget, likely because of snobby reviews, but its played for years as a firm favourite of many and before on demand TV i would always watch it when it was on
I’ve always loved this movie. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. If you want a summer movie, nothing more summer than Summer School with Mark Harmon and Kristie Alley. Nothing but fun!
This movie is sooo sweet and makes me laugh, smile, cry and I just love it! Your reaction is great! I bawl every time when the kids chase the limo. "Mom's don't leave!" hits me hard.
When Little Joe gave mom the macaroni necklace he made for her, after she said mom's don't leave. Then yelling at the limo....you said mom's don't leave!
I am obsessed with this movie. It's one I will put on during a sad day. It's so ridiculous, sweet, funny, heartwarming...everything you want from a feel good movie. The scene with her in the barrel complaining is one of the best moments. "But baby....we like YOU" lmao. And knowing they're still together in real life makes it even more special. Kurt and Goldie are the best!
Hi Cassie!! I love this film and your reaction to it. Three more summer films that I recommend watching are "The Great Outdoors" released in 1988 starring John Candy and Dan Aykroyd, "Summer Rental" released in 1985 also starring John Candy and "Mr. Mom" released in 1983 starring Michael Keaton and Terri Garr. All three of these movies are hilarious and you would love them.
Oh, yes! It definitely is a "Cassie Movie," glad you really enjoyed it. Now, if you wish to see every Kurt Russell movie (and he certainly made a LOT) I have a favorite that you and the family might like called "Now You See Him, Now You Don't" from 1972. It is a Disney film. Kurt plays a college student who invents a spray that turns things and people invisible! The FX are pre-CGI, truly amazing and hold up pretty well today. It's cute and just pure fun!
Kurt Russell is in some of my favorite movies. I personal recommendations: Tango and Cash- him and Sylvester Stallone Escape From New York- Most iconic role Big Trouble in Little China- Him as a likable big talking hero Soldier- Sci-fi future action movie set in the same cinematic universe as Blade Runner Stargate- Sci-fi adventure with James Spader Miracle- True story of the 1980 US hockey team Captain Ron- Him and Martin Short in the Carribean Breakdown- Him trying to find his abducted wife Bakcdraft- Him as a fireman
When Overboard came out in 1987 my family loved it! 😂 It was on TV and we taped it and would watch it all the time. It was a “Sleeper movie” and we found gold. 🎉😊❤
Problematic plot points disappear when both characters have charisma off the charts and had really good character arcs. So glad you liked this. Fyi, this is a rom com dudes often enjoy if you ever need one of those. PSA from a ridiculously overconscientous Oregonian - the water is so cold off the Oregon coast and we have such strong currents, pretty much any of the overboard events in this movie could easily result in death - please nobody ever attempt. But you should visit - the coast is stunning, just only wading unless you have a wet suit and never turn your back on the ocean. The scenery and sea food will not disappoint, though
Kurt's first movie was It Happened At The Worlds Fair in 1963, where he plays a kid that Elvis pays to kick him in the shins so he can get the sympathy of the nurse. Sixteen years later Kurt played Elvis in Elvis The Movie and did such a good job we always refer to that film as Kurt The Movie.
I was 12 years old when it came out. I learned a great deal about actors and comedians through my mom. I knew they were a couple. Even pre internet. Me my brother sister cousins all grew up watching shows like this and coming to america and trading places etc etc. And we watched them so much we know them line for line. To watch you react the way you did at certain scenes is gold. I don't have kids of my own do it's nice to see your reactions because it's like I'm seeing the magic and feeling the magic again. I teared up multiple times. I didn't do that as a kid. As a kid it was more about the comedy...."I think we can take Olaf" I haven't seen this movie in awhile but now as an adult it's got some new meaning to it. They were both broken lost people. It took some luck, a miracle and hope(prob the kids and dean) to have this happen. I think its what alot of us lost broken people wish for. It's a magical movie and I believe in magic and love. One day I hope. Watch more movies like this. Maybe some really cheesy 80s stuff. Splash was great. Do Better off dead.
I got super excited the moment I saw she was going to watch this movie. Honestly, at first, I was shocked she had never seen this movie before. It is an absolutely great movie. I knew she was going to love it. I wasn't entirely sure though whether the movie was going to make her cry so, that was a pleasant surprise. She is also absolutely right that they really do not make them like that anymore. Smart phones, online dating, hookup culture and feminism have completely ruined romance. How about City of Angels, The Girl Next Door or Love At the Christmas Table next? Most people have probably not seen that last movie but trust me, it's not your average Hallmark movie, it's kind of intense and trust me, it's pretty good.
Glad You Enjoyed This. You Can See Why Goldie & Kurt are Together In Real Life, They Have Amazing Chemistry Together This Film Has a lot Of Laughs & A Great Ending. Overboard is a Great Family Film
Kurt Russell can do it all. Comedy, drama, and some of the best action movies ever made. If I start adding it up, he's my favorite actor just in raw numbers.
Kurt Russell was a child actor as well and starred in many Disney movies. Along with this movie, I also loved "Tombstone", and you also know him from "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" (if you haven't seen the GoG movies, you should), but I also liked him in "Backdraft" - a story about two brothers who are Chicago firefighters
I grew up watching Goldie Hawn on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. She was always the most lovable, funny ray of sunshine. Then she won an Oscar for her film debut in Cactus Flower. She's also great in Butterflies Are Free, Foul Play, Private Benjamin, Shampoo, & Spielberg's first movie, Sugarland Express, & many others. I highly recommend reacting to any or all of these movies. In my opinion, I've never found Kate Hudson attractive or very talented, I always felt she was a pale comparison to Goldie. Goldie has always been the real deal.
Haven't watched this in a long time. Has a soft spot in my heart since it was filmed in the town where my family is from and where I spent my summers growing up.
"We had sex on our first date?!?!?!?!??!?!" "Oh yeah, right there in the parking lot of 7-11!" 🤣 "Best of times" with Kurt Russell and Robin Williams is a funny movie as well.

First time I saw Kurt in a movie was a Disney movie called The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes in 67, I was 19. Got to see it on Disney + a year ago
Private Benjamin was hilarious!
No better Elvis than Kurt!
I adored all his Dexter Riley movies. 🥰🥰🥰
he was the "jungle boy" in the Gilligan's Island episode.
Another vote for “Backdraft.” Kurt Russell’s acting was on fire in that one!
Also, you really need to watch “A Perfect World” with Kevin Costner, Clint Eastwood, and Laura Dern.
Backdraft is a MUST watch
I see what you did there!
Backdraft is fantastic. I’ve checked for reactions more than once and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a good one.
Ba dum tss.
And the gladiator of cause
"Who is Pee-Wee Herman?"
I was dying laughin!
Now you gotta watch Pee-Wee's Big Adventure!
So glad you watched this and your reaction is just the sweetest and genuine as always.
Thank you!
Tell 'em Large Marge sent ya!
She is going to LOVE Pee-Wee's Big Adventure.
I'm a rebel, Dottie! 😂
I'm honestly surprised yall asked for this before Big Adventure!
Goldie: Foul Play & Seems Like Old Times
I honestly think this is one of Goldie's best roles. To be able to make someone hate you as much as she did in the start and to have you genuinely care about her by the end. It's not as easy to do as some people may think. remind me of Jessica Rothe in Happy Death Day (i'm really surprised she didn't become a huge star).
She’s like a discount Blake Lively.
The First Wives Club is so good. That came out in 1996. Which was 9 years after this movie came out. She doesn’t do a lot of movies now. She really doesn’t need to anymore. 🤷🏾♀️
Another great one is private Benjamin.
Kurt Russell is a great actor. Goldie Hawn is not that great of an actress
@@josephcasanova1975 Goldie Hawn is an academy award and golden globe winning actress. Does she do silly comedies? Sure, but she's very good at them.
Yeah agree.
Kurt seems like a all around genuine, down to earth great guy.
And it shows in the movies
@@robertcampbell8070 yess Goldie is funny as hell 😊
Love them!!! 🤶
The best line in this movie is... "I think we can take Olaf." He said it with such confidence. I remember laughing so hard at that line when this movie first came out.
one of the best lines in the movie. Often repeated among myself and my friends.
@@mikeandpaulafisk7226 I live to quote movie lines, and that's too funny you guys do that.
That and "a falsetto child?" are my favourites. This really is one of those rare movies where the script and the actors come together perfectly.
"Breakdown" is a Kurt Russell movie that always seems to fly under the radar, but is one of my favorites of his. It is a truly sweaty palms movie
100% with Death Becomes Her! As for The Thing, do we REALLY want to break Cassie? 😅
@@Daveyboy100880 Cass would LOVE Death Becomes Her
Death Becomes Her is a must for Goldie. And Private Benjamin and Escape from New York for Kurt.
Big Trouble in Little China and Captain Ron as going in one direction, then Soldier and Stargate for those character parallels.
Wildcats was pretty funny
Goldie Hawn was my dad's favourite actress, and this was his favourite movie. I appreciate you taking the time to watch it, Cassie.
Especially since she has small kids. How did she escape it??
LOL
The level of emotional investment both you and your sister bring to each movie make you the perfect friends to re-watch old favorites with.
I agree totally, they are right up my ally and i wish there were people out there that are not affraid to show their true self in this way.
I am so glad you loved this one! It’s my favorite Kurt Russell movie!
The Thing is his best movie^^ 😍
Have you only seen 1 Kurt Russel movie?
What about Captain Ron?
This is one of my mom’s faves. Always makes me think of her.
"In the hands of a lesser director and other actors, this could have been awful." Then let's never talk about the remake. *cough*
@@gwivongalois6169 I realised after posting that there was indeed a remake. The fact I never heard about it was telling, and your comment confirms it!
I’m in tears. This reminds me of my mom, because this was her favorite movie. Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us.
I recommend "Bird on a Wire" (1990) with Goldie Hawn and Mel Gibson.
I'll never forget one view of Goldie in this movie. " Oo La Lah. Oo La Lah. "
Good movie Goldie Hawn has done so many of them.
Yes!! One of my favorites that not a lot of people know about
I concur
I have no idea why this movie isn't more well-known. Honestly my favorite Mel Gibson movie. The "Mister Wiggly" line never fails to crack me up.
She'd get a good ten minutes in or so but that scene with the dogs in the cage is where I think she "nopes" right out of there 😂
Captain Ron is such an underrated gem.
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE HER WATCH CAPTAIN RON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh I think she’d totally love tango and cash. Having Rocky in another movie should sell it for her
And how about The Christmas Chronicles where Kurt plays Santa... the sequel has Goldie as Mrs Claus.
Kurt Russell is the last living child actor from the Elvis days that is still performing today!! Thanks Quinton for all the ops.😀
I knew you’d like this one. My favorite part was when he says what can I possibly give you that you don’t have and she says a little girl! That was perfect!
The wife and I love this movie. I wish you could have watched this one with your sister. Looking forward to watching your reaction.
I’m just glad she didn’t go with the remake. I’m so sick of remakes.
"Overboard" is a genuinely perfect film. Great screenplay, great direction and an amazing cast. I knew you would love it.
The level of Cassie's distress at the condition and subsequent cleaning of the abode was... perfection.
I've never met a single person who doesn't love this movie. All time classic!
they acted together in the movie Swing Shift, and fell in ❤...that movie is one you would like!
I highly recommend It Happened One Night(1934). It’s one of the greatest, most influential RomComs of all time.
I’ve mentioned it several times, but it hasn’t happened yet. It’s so well done. It Happened One Night was redone for radio. I think it was the Lux radio Theater or something like that. All the original stars recreated their roles. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s worth your time to look it up.
Yes, Cassie, there are rich, and poor snobs exactly like that. Absolutely LOVE your reactions. Hope your weekend was perfect. 😉👌
For Goldie, Protocol
The Thing would permanently traumatize Cassie... Thumbs up for Big Trouble, though.
@@jeffreysmith236 definitely
The trick to understanding big trouble in Little China is to realize that Kurt Russell's character is not the protagonist, he's just the guy the camera follows.
So many great ones with kurt. Executive decision, soilder, captain Ron, breakdown, Stargate, backdraft, miracle, so many
All MUST sees
Captain Ron is criminally underrated.
Tango and Cash!
Escape from LA is one of my favorites
She has to watch all lol 😆
Her chauffeur/butler is played by veteran Hollywood actor Roddy McDowell. He was a child actor. "How Green Was My Valley" was a big movie that you should watch. Other notable films were "Lassie Come Home," and "My Friend Flicka." As an older actor, he played a vampire slayer in "Fright Night," and starred in many TV dramas and comedies. He occasionally guest starred on the Carol Burnett Show.
Not to mention the lead in all the Planet of the Apes films.
Loved all of those but to me he will always be Cornelius in Planet of the Apes😊
i have to add my assent to him being 'mr planet of the apes'. such a distinctive voice every time i hear it i think of Cornelius.
This was one of those movies in the "old" days of pre-streaming TV and it would just be on basically every weekend. This and Ghost I've probably seen the most, just because I would see it was on and stop to watch it, no matter where it was in the story. I'm so glad you liked it, although I knew you would! Wish your sis was there to watch it too 💚💚
On screen chemistry is amazing on this. No wonder They are still together and that warms my heart.
For as long as I can remember, this has always been one of My Mother's all-time favorite movies; I shared this Reaction with Her and We Both really Enjoyed it...Thank You!!
Lol, Captin Ron with Kurt Russell is funny
"She was born to spend, he was born to offend, there's only one way they could fall in love...by accident."
If you wanna see another movie with Kurt Russel on a boat, check out Captain Ron from 1992.
Back with the eye patch in Capt Ron.
Yes I love all those and also Bird On A Wire with Mel Gibson from 1990.
My family and I used so many quotes from this movie in our everyday life, and still do today. A real classic.
ba ba ba ba ba ba
I use the quote "Its a hell of a day at sea " all the time
I just…….ate a bug
Anytime I meet a twin, I call them Twin.
In an interview, Kurt was asked how he had managed to stay married for 40 years (I think it was one of those Google autocomplete interviews). His answer was “Marry Goldie Hawn. If you can manage that, then you’ve got a pretty good chance”
32:00. CASSIE:. "Whacking The Donkey??!! 😆😆😆😜
If you liked Overboard, which showed Kurt's amazing comedic genius, but also his wonderful acting ability that he's honed since appearing in Disney films back in the 60's, you've got to watch the classic, "Big Trouble in Little China!" Super fun!
One of the funniest movies ever. I always try to use "if I'm not back in [x minutes] call the president" in any conversation I can.
Yes!
Back when movies were entertainment instead of "franchises" or social engineering projects.
sadly it wasnt a massive success, it made $26million of a $22million budget, likely because of snobby reviews, but its played for years as a firm favourite of many and before on demand TV i would always watch it when it was on
I’ve always loved this movie. I’m so glad you enjoyed it.
If you want a summer movie, nothing more summer than Summer School with Mark Harmon and Kristie Alley. Nothing but fun!
Yes! The supporting cast of that movie is what made it so good. Another forgotten and underrated movie!
Chainsaw and Dave
Well crap now I really need her to watch this!
Summer School
One Crazy Summer
Better Off Dead
The Thing and Big Trouble in Little China both directed by John Carpenter are my two favorite Kurt Russell movies.
Just ordered Overboard on bluray after seeing your reaction. Such a great film. I need this in my life. Thanks Cassie.
Walt Disneys last words... "Kurt Russell"
I've been watching overboard for 30 years and still uncontrollably cry when the kids don't want her to leave 😢
Kurt Russell is in some of my favorite movies. I personal recommendations:
Tango and Cash- him and Sylvester Stallone
Escape From New York- Most iconic role
Big Trouble in Little China- Him as a likable big talking hero
Soldier- Sci-fi future action movie set in the same cinematic universe as Blade Runner
Stargate- Sci-fi adventure with James Spader
Miracle- True story of the 1980 US hockey team
Captain Ron- Him and Martin Short in the Carribean
Breakdown- Him trying to find his abducted wife
Bakcdraft- Him as a fireman
captain ron is so good!!! I wish more would react to it, also backdraft is pretty amazing, I used to love the Universal Studios Backdraft exhibit
Captain Ron was so freaking hood. That’s with Martin Short, right?
Oh my God I forgot about Soldier... My Favorite..
The Thing
Dont forget about Used Cars
Captain Ron is top tier Kurt. You’d love it.
Growing up we would watch this movie all the time. Ahhh the 80s. ❤
When Overboard came out in 1987 my family loved it! 😂 It was on TV and we taped it and would watch it all the time. It was a “Sleeper movie” and we found gold. 🎉😊❤
That and Raiders of the Lost Ark!! 😊
As a kid it was more about the comedy...."I think we can take Olaf"
I haven't seen this movie in awhile but now as an adult it's got some new meaning to it.
I smiled at your reaction to Goldie Hawn at the start, knowing how it all turns out in the end 🙂
Good reaction Cass. Pity Carly was MIA she would've loved this one. 😍😍
Kate Hudson can't be compared to Goldie Hawn. Kate goes for different movies than Goldie would do.
Haven't watched this in a long time. Has a soft spot in my heart since it was filmed in the town where my family is from and where I spent my summers growing up.
"We had sex on our first date?!?!?!?!??!?!"
"Oh yeah, right there in the parking lot of 7-11!"
🤣
"Best of times" with Kurt Russell and Robin Williams is a funny movie as well.
My grandmother passed away recently and this was her favorite movie. Glad you reacted to it.
Cassie,
I wish Carly had watched this romantic comedy with you. She’s gonna love it.
I like how you extrapolated their lives based on the new information.
Check out Goldie Hawn in Private Benjamin and Foul Play. You have to watch The Abyss, Director’s cut/extended version. James Cameron directed.
This is such an under-rated hidden gem. One of my fav 'nice' movies. Being low-key in love with Goldie Horn my entire life (mostly, but not only, because of this movie) probably helps but it is undeniable a 'lovely' movie. So heartwarming.
Man overboard
Woman overboard, she's wearing an evening dress sir
Another man overboard
Man overboard is kissing woman overboard
The guy with arrows is being pulled in at Port
It's a hell of a day at sea sir
Love that scene
Loved your reaction. Goldie was the queen of rom-coms in the 80's. Two of her classics from that time that you have to watch are Private Benjamin & Seems Like Old Times. You will love them!
In the late 80s and early 90s, I watched this with my little sister and my Mom a LOT... 😅 Life of an 80s boy, we had our movies but this was the one that we all had to watch together...
For Kurt Russell, Breakdown and Backdraft are great thrillers and for Goldie Hawn, Deceived is a great thriller. Some of my favorites.❤
Oh yes! I forgot about Breakdown! He played the perfect everyman protagonist.
Great choices👍.
Backdraft, Soldier & Stargate are some his best.

I've decided the only unbelievable thing about this movie is that a deal for a mini golf course was made, and it was fully built within 2 months. - I love this movie. Kate Hudson said it was one of her faves because it was a Cinderella story in reverse.
