The wedding “pie” is a Taiwanese wedding tradition that is given to the bride’s family and friends by the groom as a gift. They are distributed by the bride (and her parents and siblings) before the wedding date. The reason for this gift is because traditionally the bride’s side of guests don’t go to the wedding banquet as the bride is viewed to be married into the groom’s family. There is a separate banquet for the bride’s family and friends at a later date as a gesture of appreciation from the groom’s family. The tradition of holding separate wedding banquets is often simplified in the modern society in which the bride’s family and friends are invited to the main wedding banquet. However some couples still follow the traditional wedding practice. These wedding pies come in both savory and sweet fillings, and the outer shell is flaky and sweet. A more popular choice amongst young people these days is the western style cookies.

Wow 👏👏👏
Thanks 😊
Thanks for sharing 🙂
That looks delicious
Thanks 😊
Oh wow I love the packaging!🖒
Each step was a surprise! I'm literally sitting here like "ooh!" "wow!" with all the effort that went into this! I just wish I knew what all the ingredients are. Looks tasty!
It looks like pure fat from the pig and onion and the pastry with margarine. I didn't realize they were made of pure fat. Now I know that's why it was nice because of fat. Not buying it anymore.
hahaha... I have same feeling as you... "ooh.. wow...." hahahaha
Todo blen
@@Delta20101 Shallots* actually. They're superior to onions. And lard isn't so bad. They're certainly better than palm oil.
@@burpburp710 Better than vegetable oil? As in palm oil? Vegetable oil will always be healthier than animal fat.
Omg huge hopiang baboy 😍😍😍
I enjoyed this very much. You can tell you have a passion for cooking which is wonderful.
Thanks 😊
So a Savory wedding cake, I've never seen this before. They are Pretty LOVE seeing how various people celebrate!!!!! 🥰🙏🥰🙏🥰🙏🥰🙏🥰
Hii bhai
Savory? That is a heart attack on a plate, is what it is. Pure saturated fat, of the worst kind. I wouldn't touch any of that.
I would love to try it. I'm sure they would be served in very small pieces as it would be so rich.
@@Gardis72 I believe they mean savory as in salty or spicy, rather than sweet. This fits the bill of that definition, regardless of the fat content.
@@Gardis72 i believe it's only eaten on a special occasion also Asian people are still healthier than the western world lol
Not going to lie, the shallots threw me until I realized they were meat cakes.
They threw me until I got nosey and saw your comment lol
@@necr0_nobody Glad to help.

@@dontneedutolikeme1958 Cake made of meat. Like a cake shaped meat dish. Crab cakes.
Right!I was sitting here wondering why they needed shallots for a cake😂

No tengo mucha fluida)
Interessante conhecer outras culturas
the tradition is so beautiful. 👏😍
Thanks 😊
