Many many religions have semi-peacefully co-existed in history. Religious schisms on the other hand have literally partitioned nations in the _attempt_ to reduce the violence caused.

I still remember the time during my Otomo campaign when I was besieged by 3 full Ikko stacks. My small number of matchlocks truly pulled their weight when they chased off the 3 armies

My Japanese friend has a family crest. When I visited his house, I saw his family crest and said that "Your family crest is similar to Ikko Ikki crest!" then he said "Yes. Osaka, especially has called izumi province is one of the sanctuaries of Ikko Ikki" That is why when you lost Osaka, Izumi was selected as next stronghold of Ikko Ikki (guessing)

The best part about playing the Uesegi is that everyone loves you for killing the Ikko Ikki. The worst part is having to deal with the Ikko Ikki (on top of the Takeda and Hojo).
Yeah i aint looking forward to the Uesugi either! They are always hated by everyone just like the Ikko Ikki :'D
They also lack the amazing units of the Ikko Ikki.. well, until the mid-late game.
One of these days I'll get a campaign where the Hojo and Takeda aren't BFFs
@@jv8462 It won't work with this mod list, but in Vanilla Shogun 2 you can get a military alliance with Takeda on the first turn you meet them as Uesegi. Then, with some shrew diplomacy and military access, you can get them to join wars even against the Hojo

I was always disappointed that the Ikko Ikki got the same ending scene as everybody else. I wanted to see a wacky Buddhist theocracy or something.

I recently finished a tall Ikki campaign. Being a pacifist and only capturing the immediate areas around Kioto and getting those sweet trade deals. After a few turns I realized that I was infact playing an Otomo campaign but without gunpowder. And I took that personally...Good times

I rememer playing as Ikko ikki with a homey as ally. My religion spread so hard to his nearby lands, that he had to invest tons of gold to stop it.

The real Ikko Ikki experience: spam incite revolts with overpowered monks and auto resolve every battle with stacks of loan swords
The Otomo: "Finally, a worthy opponent. Our battle will be legendary!"
The 2cfactions with the best gun units. Only fitting.
First time as the Ikko Ikki, Otomo became my enemies, the fuckers missionaries are my nightmares. They owned half the maps. The christians revolted, in province where there are no christians, including my capital. I had to send my army all the ways to kyushu while converting them, their ninjas killed my monks and no metsukes to kill them. After beating them, I was preparing for realm dvided, one province rebelled and somehow became ikkoikki. All my best armies in Kyushu. My inlaws betrayed me, Three daimyos of mine died in different battles. It was the most fun campaign I play. Running around avoiding getting fucked. Try to attack only weakspots. Making vassals and leaving their gift regiment to delay enemies superior armies. The cause came from the Otomo, they attack me for no reason, and their missionaries are a night mare.
I swear, these guys never die in my campaigns, they always have a full stack around the corner at every step
I love how every other clan video it's about their amazing units and how destructive they are whilst the Ikko is just desperately trying to not be purged by every other angry Japanese person in the country
Well. They do have the strongest gun unit. the strongest bow unit. the strongest spear unit. And the strongest (for cost effectiveness) sword unit. And the strongest cavalry unit.

I remember doing this on legendary back in the day, took a few attempts, but what ended up working was just leaning real hard into ikko ikki religion with priests spreading rebellions everywhere all at once. Good times.

The AI ikko ikki is a total beast, every time they get huge and powerful, because they don’t have the religious unhappiness that the player gets. If you play as the Hattori or Oda you can keep them in check, but if not they just get too powerful, their units are amazing, and AI doesn’t really have cost/upkeep issues

I played my first Ikko Ikko game just a few adya ago and....yeah
It's interesting smashing lines of professionally trained Katana,Naginata,Bow and Yari Samurai with religious peasant zealots while everyone hates you
wow, i dropped ikko iki on hard mode right away bc of the super hard starting point. and here you are destroying armies 3 times your own with ashigaru units.
