I don't understand people hating on player's facial expressions. If individual performance is not important, we could all just listen to old records and let living music die...
Some stodgy members of the audience here in the comments...I'm fascinated that classical guitar attracts such rigid thinking about how things "should" be done or how someone "should" look when they are performing. I think it sounded great, well done Xeno on all your hard work - it's always great to see someone enjoying what they do so much. Music is surely about interpretation, otherwise it's just bloody boring. Well done GSI again on producing such great content so consistently.
Hi Chris, Awesome. I love your use of “bloody” 😂 My greatest rowing coaches were from NZ and AUS and the word “bloody” became part of my English vocabulary ever since.
@@elite_online_rowing_coach Hey Xeno, you should try saying bloody in an incredulous Scottish accent, that's what happened in my comment, but those guys you mention definitely have it down to a fine art haha!
I love this. I've heard plenty of renditions but I love his style, all the contrasts he brings. And I don't get why people are hating on his facial expressions. I think they add to the performance. (And if you don't like them, just turn your screen off!)
Wow , wow , wow . What did I just hear and see ? Fantastic ! Bravo ! I love this . I would truly love to see this guy live , he not only is an unbelievably accomplished musician but also let's his emotions flow in perfect harmony with the piece .
thank you for the kind words! this piece has always been my go to ‘fun piece’ and it is so good to see that the energy transmits even over a virtual setting 😁
Xeno, your former teacher here - I just LOVE to watch and hear you play! I love classical and Spanish guitar music and you are fantastic! I remember watching you juggling (another amazing talent you have!) and playing in the CDM quad. 😍😍 Keep on sharing your talent with us! ❤️
@@manongblah6731 Agreed he must surely have been one of any teacher's favorite student's.... Firstly because he's clearly talented and dedicated but mainly because you just know he's probably quite an eccentric character 😆
Xeno II, I really love this piece and how you let loose on it. Letting loose is very important. The world of classical guitar is likely bigger than the world of rowing, yet in both worlds we have lots of nay sayers. Bring more of it!
Well, it was fresh and very unique. Sort of the way I could imagine Kazuhito Yamashita playing this piece. I know Roland Dyens version very well, and yes it is different. But so what...
Great work Xeno. Interpretation of the piece was awesome. Way better than the cookie cut performance people wanted in the comments, with no personal style or flare.
I was really impressed with your interpretation. I really like your sensitivity and your talent. Well done !! There are a lot of guitarists on TH-cam who performed this difficult song, every time it's different, every time it's beautiful. You are one of my favorites. And I also really like how you live this song deep inside you. I would so love to play like you. Bravo again! Magdi
No le veo problema es sus expresiones por el contrario, a mi me indica que esta más que vivo y que siente cada nota que toca y lo transmite. Me gusta así más que impávido y sin ni un movimiento como máquinas. Felicidades
Can feel his was enjoying it from his facial expressions and fingers movement. Don't think I can even move my finger half of his speed. My trigger fingers condition make my movement even slower. :(
I am here playing my cheaper Esteve guitar thinking it's sounding pretty good... Then I hear this amazing brand new guitar, the snap in the chord changes is insane... How much is the guitar? Of course the guitarist is also amazing as well bravo
I think it is a great rendition, my only real issue is I feel he over-uses the rasgueado a bit which takes away from the impact of the one's that are already written into the piece.
Yes, actually if you see the original score, you can notice a lot of changes. It sounds very different from the original, there are some parts where I can't discern if it is a change on purpose or simply a mistake. I agree that he is doing a lot of ornaments, and the original ones aren't very clear (Might be the audio from the video). Also (in my opinion) the rythm isn't very clear. Maybe I'm not used to this version. But objectively he is very good, most of the piece sounds good. Sorry for bad english, I had to use the translator.
I just recorded my opera for solo guitar and voice. It's called Prueba Tu Guitarra it's about me and my great talent for composition. I got highlights of it uploaded very creative
Well he understands the point of this music, the fun and passion behind it. So many play this with technical focus. The timing is subjective! : LOTS of rubato required! He is brilliant. BUT Have a look at Vera Denilina playing this for an even more extreme position on this fun piece.www.youtube.com/@associationajam404
hello GSI and audience, thank you for having me once again!
lots of love, and see you in the next video! ❤️
Nice playing!
@@metronommie One of the best interpretation I saw ! Good job !
I remember you performing this during Ric Soto's Introduction to Music a few years ago! Glad you're still playing this song with such passion!
Love your passion Xeno! Thank you for letting us see to the depths of your soul. Absolutely beautiful!
Watching him enjoy himself playing is everything.
thank you tdmj. i was having a good time 😆
The beauty of musical genres like Tango is that you are able to put your accent in the piece without losing the beauty of the original text.

I went to school w him! He was my first friend and he played this for my music class! He’s an amazing person

Most of the people listen with their eyes, unfortunately…
thank you michael! i like being a little dramatic with this one because it serves the score markings justice.
i can’t help having fun haha
cheers!
Loved his strong feeling and attack ...he was dancing the tango as he played!

More Xeno please :)

So dynamic and colorful, Maestro Dyens must be proud and smiling atm!

He made it his music and it's the best performance I heard until now.
thank you john :)

Caught him really enjoying that Masaki Sakurai Special a couple times during the performance. He almost seemed surprised at the tone he was getting.
What a surprise performance! Really enjoyed. ^^

that he makes gestures when he plays does not mean that he is necessarily sounding expressive...
@@AlvaroTejerina you are right but listen to the music which is very expresive, his expresions are on line with the music, I think. Have a good day
That’s a terrific sounding guitar! These new Sakurai guitars are wonderful.
What a fabulous interpretation of this piece!
Wow tremendísima interpretación!
thank you isaac!
Absolutely killer playing, friend!
thank you dannyyyy
An amazing performance!
Not the same old boring rendition.
