I have upgraded my K1 max as much as I could to try to eliminate this. I installed new finer resolution and better LDO steppers, new belts and pullies, and replaced the gantry with a better sold bar setup. All progressively made it better but it was still their slightly. Changing the layer time completely eliminate it. Thank you!
I opened a support case with creality for the same issue, they sent me a new motherboard and 42-48 steppers to replace the 42-60 ones my machine shipped with, and that have improved print quality significantly. They have smaller diameter / fewer teeth on the pinions, which apparently have a lot to say. Print speed definitively have an impact too, but if your unit is of the early ones, this could also be an option.
@@gi1rim Yes that makes sense. I have seen people changing them out, and then get better results. I have the "newer" model with the smaller pinions already. I might be able to go to lower speeds than the older version. But 60 mm/s does not work for me apparently..
@@frankschuenemann4632 there should be a sticker on the bottom of it saying either 42-60 or 42-48. If they're missing you can either compare the x and y steppers to the size of the z stepper on the bottom - in my case at least that was a 42-48 even when my x&y was 42-60. The latter number is the height of the stepper, so you can also just take some calipers and check how many mm's they are. Another way is to look at the pinions driving the belts - the 42-48 steppers are 16mm diameters, while the 42-48 ones are 26mm.
Also I _think_ the newer machines with 42-48 steppers were introduced at the same time as the bed got the front bezel saying build volume 300x300x300mm³
Very good question. My experience with PETG is that it needs lower speeds. Which is why its rarely what I print with it. I thinks it limited by volumetric flow, and not so much printhead speed. Maybe going for a lower layer height and more print speed is a good option. But yes, if your slicer decrease the speed because of layer time, and that causes a problem, this would fix that👍
Did you try to do a VFA test in Orca slicer? After using it I found that raising the outer wall speed from 200 to 220mm/s eliminated the very fine artifacts i was seeing om straight walls.
@@chovavmordechai I tried Orca back when I got the machine. But it was bugging out in 2 out of 3 slices for me. So I went back to Creality print. (which has its own bugs..) This might mean that 220 mm/s is the lower limit I guess!
I will definitely try this out as ringing is probably the biggest problem with the printer for me! just one question - does this eliminate the VFA on lower speeds (like 200 mm/s) as well?
@@MatusA-gi5ob This will give you the control to increase the speed in all scenarios. If you got 60 mm/s somewhere, you could now get 200 mm/s there instead (if you are limited by layer time). I don't know where the magical limit is yet. 200 is quite fast though. Might work 👍 But it does not change what 200 mm/s does no:)
So You are telling us Your solution which is someone elses solution (omranello) blocked by slicer, because You are using somene elses filament presets, which have limitations in layer printing time and volumetric flow? 🤔 Great, 3min wasted for a brilliant no solution. Another thing is rods and bearings - completely trash, all of it.
I am terribly sorry that I did not find Omran's solution before posting a video! To quote Anakin: "What have I done?!?" I did indeed watch his video about lubrication, but I can't remember anything about layer time, or in any other video on the topic. I thought I was a really smart person to find the solution my self. I am sorry that I let you down:/ It might be a Creality Print thing, and maybe its not a problem in Orcaslicer for example. I did also change the volumetric flow up from the Creality PLA-preset before going to layer time. Despite the negativity you are radiating, which naturally stems from me wasting a whole 3 minutes of your day, I do hope you have a nice rest of the day:)
Thanks for sharing this, I don't have a 3D printer ATM, but if I ever get one, I will remember this.

Ah, no way!
This made me glad and sad at the same time. Glad I could help 👌

How can I see what kind of stepper I have ???

Definitely going to try this out. 👍
Would this work if you are using PTEG filament? Like if i use 1 second layer time.

@KvistEngineering honestly? You have just gained respect from the old grim guy. I like Your response. Stay that way 🤜🏻🤛🏻
