Hi Kevin. Wow, that seems like a lot of money for the bronze. I think I would go to steel if you cannot find any other source cheaper. I am really enjoying the videos. Thank you for sharing sir! Joe
Hi Joe. Metal prices have gone crazy here. I've put a few feelers out for either some brass or bronze. Fingers crossed. Hope you're getting plenty of shed time.... Regards Kevin
Hello Kevin, An enjoyable video, thank you... I could not agree more in the price of materials, I am struggling quite a lot with the cost... I would go with the cost effective solution and maybe change them later if prices go down. Take care. Paul,,
G'day Kevin, really looking forward to this project. Yes bronze is crazy expensive. At the end of the day you are the one looking at it for the rest of your days. I think if it was my project I would look at a way to make the flywheel stand out, maybe with steel and give it a high polished finish. Cam
Yes the bronze does look good, especially with the steel inserts blackened, but blimey! Bronze I got for mine cost about £50 in UK a year ago. If you use steel how about looking at doing some zinc plating, could be another vid!
I got a hollow bronze offcut a couple of years back for my Hoglet. Only just wide enough and spent ages carefully cut it in to two to make the 2 flywheels. That bit was a one off ebay special at £60 in the UK and I thought that was crazy expensive at the time. I reckon if you blackened the centre webs and could get a high polished finish on the rings it would look great in steel.
Gday Kev, the parts turned out nice, the cost of materials are out of control, nothing is cheap anymore sadly, it would look nice with bronze or brass but I’d stick with steel, not worth going broke for a bit of bling mate, awesome job as always, cheers
Hi Matty. Yes I'm thinking steel but the wife said bronze or brass would look better. I'll have a think about it. When Andrew Whale built his the bronze cost him less than half the cost it is here! Thanks for watching mate. Regards Kev
You have a furnace now, all you have to do is go and buy the empty casings from the small bore rifle club at Eltham or the pistol club. The pistol club may reload theirs but the Eltham club has buckets full.
First . Where are you ? In NZ . Have you got a furnace ? I am in Norsewood . I have brass and bronze . Not looking for an arm and leg , just a finger . Found you in insta i will send a message

Hi Paul. Now there's a thought. Still thinking at the moment but empty casings may work. Cheers kevin

I believe I have something that may work. I'll measure on Monday and let you know. Shipping may be outrageous.
