It is so refreshing to just watch a GM play whilst also hearing his inner thoughts. Also, not just 'a typical GM's thoughts', here there is no ego. The thoughts are not curated. It's an impressive stream of consciousness. He explains his classy moves but also his (very few) blunders. That's why we learn so much. Thank you Daniel and have happy new year.
I am gobsmacked at how Daniel sees opportunity after opportunity in every move, and is so confident with his game. This is fast becoming my number 1 channel on TH-cam!!!
I feel like I’m the opposite. I think my main way of learning is by watching, and I feel like right after watching I play better than normal. Not as good as danya of course, but... better.
@@ohboy1113 psychology is so interesting. Just by watching top players you increase your skill significantly. And that is especially true right after watching the game!
2:10 wow I actually noticed the tactic Daniel missed! I had a period when I got burned by this boomerang knight in Caro and French so bad that I'm now somewhat allergic to putting a bishop on b5/g5 when black's able to put a bishop on d7/e7... Proud to say I'm not falling for this tactic anymore these days
Ive watched only your videos for about 20 days straight and now im beating family members who were in chess clubs in highschool. Ive never touched a chess board before this. You are amazing.
I have been studying chess my entire life. Ever since this series came out I've gone from 1800 to 1200 in hyperbullet. Best instructional videos on the internet hands down, I especially enjoyed learning the line 1. e4 (a theoretical novelty) 1...Resigns
These series back me in time when I went to a chess school with teacher from ussr. I was in plato but now I’m 200 points of rating up with 60+% win rate. Danya, thank you for the greatest chess course ever.
Thanks for the amazing content! I watchef your video series from a few years back called the Naroditsky Method. You are a wonderful teacher and explainer of ideas. You’re on the right path and enjoy your flight! Safe travels ❤️
Thank you, Daniel. Due to your and Levy's efforts combined I have gone from losing against the 800 bots to easily winning vs 1300 players in about half a year. :)
Easily dismantles a 2000 rated player and makes him seem like a confused child dropping pieces every few moves. I will never cease to be amazed and inspired by super GM's
oh baby can't wait to improve my chess skills while enjoying my favorite GM's breakdown of why every move I think looks decent is actually a giant blunder ;)
Man, that second game represents how playing a GM is like entering quicksand. That 1800 put up such a good fight, more than I will probably ever be capable of, but just got picked apart with precision.
At 10:38, after 16... Nxa2 17. Nd7 Bxd7 18. Qxd7, GM Naroditsky makes the claim that the double attack on both hanging knights is inescapable, but Black can play 18... Qe6 to defend both knights. At 29:34, after 17. Qf5, I spotted that Black has an opportunity to force a draw after 17... g6!? 18. Qxf6 Be7 19. Qe5 Bd6, and White can only repeat moves to avoid losing the queen. I would be content with this resource if I were pitted against a grandmaster.
After analyzing in greater depth, I recognize now that, as expected, both of my observations were wrong. For my first observation, White simply exchanges Queens. After 19. Qxe6 fxe6 20. Rxa2, White enjoys the advantage of an extra piece and will most likely win comfortably. My second observation has a refutation that at least prevents a forced draw. After 17... Be7, White can sacrifice material to avoid the forced draw. White can afford this because Black sacrificed a knight initially to perform this forced sequence. To go for a win, White can try 19. Nb5 cxb5 20. Qc3 Qxc3 21. bxc3 and now the game continues.
Hi Daniel loving the series, wondering which game mode on chess.com is best for improvement, i.e. which time setting? Thanks! Other people obviously feel free to answer!
There are arguments for all time controls helping improvement but in general play slightly longer games if you have the time as they create higher quality chess and allow you to think for longer, that said as long as your playing you will improve :)
Danya is right. I see white's position alot when I play against the french defense system In similar positions where the c3 pawn defends the d4 pawn with the light square bishop on d3 the dark square bishop doesn't really have good squares to go and remain passive. However the queen gets to the e file and the queen's knight is flexible. I have also seen a game where Aron Nimzowitsch played the dark bishop on the long diagonal staring at his own pawns but his bishop eventually came alive latter in the game.
Tip for everyone who wants to learn from the speedrun maximally: before yo watch Danya's playthrough of a game, go find the game on his account (chess.com/member/SenseiDanya) and play *solitaire chess* with the game. That is, play through the moves of the game and at every point, predict what Danya's move will be. If you predict a move wrong, then see why his move is better - it may be obvious, or you might have to watch the video to see him explain it. Work through the entire game this way, and only then should you watch him play the game. That way you can compare your thought process to his, and be better able to apply it in your own games.
Hi Daniel I know you're probably not going to see this, but how do you tell when you are going to have a successful attack or when you should back off? I keep losing to counterattacks that I never see until it is too late.
Anybody else nervous for when he starts mopping the floor with 2200’s? I’m not sure I can handle somebody as good as my coach getting destroyed so easily.
I finally sit down to study. I open the book, read the first sentence and then I see this video is up. I guess I deserve a 30 min break
Keep up the hard work.
You earned it
I’m in the same position mate. Plus these vids are coming out everyday so I’ve lost 30mins x 35 episodes of study LOL
Just watch on x2

Lol that's so true

be able to see the moves ahead of time like Daniel and then get crushed lol

These videos really help me improve! Thank you Daniel. I have a dumb question though..wasnt it better for your opponent to take with a queen at 30:03?
Rxf7, Rxf7, Qc8+ , you pick up the c6 pawn
And then you have a queen vs rook and knight and you're up a pawn. You also have 2 passers, c and e pawns
Thanks for the great content
I noticed, you always look away from the screen, when you do a deeper calculation. Is it easier for you to not see the board to visualize lines?
Thats a good question

do you calculate without looking at the board?
Does anyone have the actual quote from Vladimir Simagin he mentions? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

That '2000' rage-quitting was so satisfying. Even 1400's played better than that.

Why are you doing an Ivanchuk parody when you make illustrative blunders? 😂 (Please parody him more btw, I love it!)
Wasn't black playing the Black Lion? Interesting to see how you handled it with ease
We were not able to see his reaction of 5000 subs :'c
In the last game you played, what would you of done if he captured your knight with the queen instead of the rook on F7?
*have done
If Qxf7, Rxf7, Rxf7, and Qg6+, the rest depends on what move black plays next
