This blade is in my personal collection and in my top three favorite blades that I own if anybody is interested in this blade I would highly recommend it.
Did anyone catch the “Prather Law Bowie” statement? I wanna see it! Hopefully it is a 5” version of the PWB. I love the PWB. Hopefully one day TOPS will start making more of them and make them with a nicer kydex sheath.
I bought Jeff’s War Bowie when it was first released years ago. Like everyone else, I replaced the sheath immediately. I have it next to me right now. It proved invaluable on my journey to Baldur’s Gate.
Having studied the same martial arts discipline as Sensei Jeff (Prather), I have loved using this knife. It has an excellent balance and sweep. I've loved using it in the woods and hopefully I'll never have to use it for its primary designed purpose - which i am sure it will excel at.
Thanks to Tops for this video, good to hear the origins and thought process behind the design of a knife. I do hope that Tops agree with him that Kydex Sheaths are better and offer both choices in the future.
I want to tell him that his product is now imported to Japan and used. I am one of users of Prather War Bowie and I'm using it as my camp knife. I will highly recommend this knife for out-door activity except one point. That is the Nylon sheath with velcros. I wanted Kydex sheathes for this knife.
I know what you mean. I used it on a nine day fishing/camping trip to Montana in 2014, and it was a great field knife. I had to buy a second one when Mumma Bear and I took Bowie Seminar in Tucson. 👍🏼👍🏼
Love the information, however, I believe the ideal length for SD blade is around four inches, like the silent hero 4. This provides enough blade for any combat situation and it's shorter profile gives up less leverage which could be a liability in an enclosed space.
I would really like to see tops do a kydex sheath for it and do like a coyote tand blade finish that would be so awesome love tops knives I recommend them to everyone

I like that paracord fastening method. While my Prather War Bowie is still in the factory nylon sheath, I tried this with a couple of my Cold Steel knives, and it works well for both my Master Tanto and Magnum Tanto XII.
We are dropping some here and there. A decent batch left here last week. It won't be enough to get us out of all of our backorders, but will definitely help.
I am already loving this knife. It's a beautiful functional piece 👍 And probably one can get some really good camping use out of it besides the evident tactical/fight shape and applications.
Fucking legendary knife!!! Nobody can prove to me that this isn't the best all around large knife made by Tops. I love mine and at 32 i can tell that it will out live me for my two kids to fight over. My son 8 loves his MSK and mini harpoon and his sister 2 will pick out her own when she's old enough. Best production fixed blades you can buy and the prices are far less than i always expect. Buy a Prather when/if you can, it will not disapoint if you have large hands and it feels god like.
I retired my PWB to a place on my wall next to a couple Winkler pieces. Absolutely love the PWB but I've always wondered: Tops, when is a Musso style or XL variation of the PWB coming?
I wouldn’t mind seeing a version of the PWB with a couple more inches on the blade. I would certainly buy it. 👍🏼👍🏼 I have a large Bowie style blade drawn up, but I’m still tweaking it. Plan to send it to Leo when it’s ready.

Shit, I'm literally having a knife custom made to the specs of the War Bowie because I couldn't find one of these anywhere for the last three or four months.
A few years ago I bought the desert nomad, but I remember just starring at this knife. Thinking its time to break down and buy it. Sad to see everyone rip on the stock sheath, theyre fine sheaths. Kydex is frankly hot trash. Brittle, breaks too easily.

Is the false edge ground evenly to a uniform thickness to where it can be sharpened w/o having to completelt the swedge?

Nice, simple and too the point. I own and love more complex and heavier designs but you can not fault the simplicity or practicality of this blade.
