Alan Jackson is one of the few real country artists we have left. To much of country today is too poppy. His songs talk about real life events and experiences.
I don't really like country music but my husband does and he says the exact same thing about today's country music

He's one of the last ones who got radio play time. There are a lot of "underground" country artists making amazing music, but you have to really, REALLY look for them.

He just did a really good interview not to long ago. About his health, his music and so on. And that there was a time where him an his wife were having issues. But this song was written for her.
He had an affair while touring. It takes a special kind of bond to not only bounce back from infidelity but to come back stronger.

This is why country music musicians are some of the best in the industry. Love or hate it, the bands are so damn tight and on point. All the live music slaps like the album
From my humble perspective, Alan is one the most under-appreciated country artist of this time. He has major health issues now, so it is probably difficult for him to perform. It sounds like you maybe only "tolerate" country music, but you might want to check out Jamey Johnson's "In Color" original video, and maybe some of Alan's other hits. Peace, Love!
I 100% agree with you about Alan being majorly under appreciated! I just saw him in concert a few months ago in Colorado, and he sounded as wonderful as ever! The last of the great country artists from when country was country.

'In Color' is the greatest song ever written IMO.
The mandolin is what really makes the song in my mind... And the fan made "Up" version of the video is even more of a tear jerker.

Story time.
Every year my mom's side of the family (10 siblings, + kids) has a big karaoke party. Big bonfire outside, beer, food, the works.
My one uncle has a very similar voice to Alan Jackson and almost yearly would sing this at that party.
3 years ago he lost his wife to breast cancer. It was brutal. He sang this song again that same year and I swear to you, hand on heart, when he finished you could have heard a pin drop in a garage of 50 people.
I will never forget that.
I was in HS and was into metal and hard rock. I get into my friend’s car to go to lunch and an Alan Jackson cd was playing. From that moment on I fell in love with country music and the appreciation for music in general. Oh and of course Alan Jackson. It’s amazing what music can do. 👏🏽

One of the biggest country stars ever. He wrote this for his wife who was in the music clip along with all their home movies playing in the background.

AJ has a huge catalog of hits…of all types…I’ve seen him in concert a few times…wonderful live performer and such a great guy. Country Legend…and hopefully he’ll be continuing for many years to come and his health issues will not be severely debilitating. AJ 🙏🏻🧡💛
This song was played at my fathers funeral while they showed pictures throughout the years. I love this song but can not listen to it without tears.
Would highly recommend Brooks and Dunn - ‘Believe’. Ronnie Dunn from the duo has a very unique voice that would make for interesting analysis.

Alan Jackson isn't exactly the type of artist that's going to "wow" you with vocal ability.. It's more about the song/message and overall sound.
And that's okay. He's still one of my top favorite artists, and his songs are easy for me to sing along to.
It’s hard to listen to this song and not shed a tear
There are several country singers I’d love to see you get around to in particular…but frankly, there are dozens and dozens of greats! It’s probably the one type of music that seems to convey the most…and I’ve been raised on everything from Classical/Opera, to Folk, Pop, Jazz, Soul, Rockabilly, the works. I’m 52 and I’ve probably seen over 700 live concerts…my five earliest were Elvis, Tom Jones, Bob Seger, Santana, Neil Diamond. Country, Folk and Soul seem to really dig deep! “Country” is often described here as “3 chords and the truth”. 😃

I'm back again to say you absolutely need to react to big wreck! Ian Thornley is one of the best artists of our time (especially live) yet sadley one of the most under rated. I garentee your mind will be blown. I suggest "that song" "wolves" "albatross" "ghosts" so many

Wow... this video is a living example of how sometimes, you just have to live through/with a thing to really relate to it.
I'm a tired old man, born and raised in the southern U.S., and I can assure you that no one NOT from here will take this song the same as those of us that are.
Btw, I grew up with relatives in, and involved with, the music industry... I've met a great may
"famous" people... and in most cases, they're just my neighbors, or folks that live just down the road. ( Don Williams lived just down the road from me, 'til he died, and I've taken an elevator ride with Johnny Cash, once a long time ago. And a really long time ago, I was taken to Dolly Parton's home so a relative could conduct business there. ( 1967 or so. ) )
Anyway, the point I'm trying to make here is that sometimes, a song really does defy analysis. It's either something you "get", or you just don't.
P.S. Rebecca... Alan Jackson's singing voice is not too far removed from his speaking voice. He doesn't have to "work" to do what he does.
Alan Jackson was my first favorite artist, since I was about 4 in the mid 1990's.
On those days where I had to spend the entire day bored out of my mind with my dad in an empty car shop, Alan's song "Chattahoochee" coming on the shop radio would always be the highlight of my day.
The other song I looked forward to during that same time frame was George Strait's "Carrying Your Love With Me."
Alan Jackson is beautiful inside and out. He and his wife are so precious together. This song is about them
That was his wife who was dancing with him. Someone I would love you to listen to is the 17 year old from the UK Lucy Thomas music. Her cover of Hallelujah has over 12 million views so far. Just got her new CD in the mail. This girl has a really good chance of making it big. Would love to know what you think about her.

This song always gets me teared up because his video shows when he and his wife were teens prior to be married. My nieces created a montage of their parents, my sister and brother- law on their wedding anniversary from sister and him being teens to married young adults to older married couple - time flies enjoyed life!

Alan Jackson has a lot of great songs. My favorite song of his is (Chattahoochee) one of his upbeat fun songs.

Way down yonder on the Chattahoochee! You have to listen to Chattahoochee to hear him get loud, twanging and half-yoldelin. He's from not far from me, Newnan, GA.
I got to go to a concert (flood relief) at the old Omni in Atlanta in mid 90s. It was Alan Jackson, Faith Hill, and I think George Straight and one other singer from GA that was coming back from cancer or something. I wish I could remember his name. I got the ticket stub somewhere. Regardless, a ton of talent and it was a great concert.

Not every song needs a play by play…analysis…country singers just sing with their heart. They don’t focus on all the items vocal coaches pick apart. They just sing….
Alan Jackson is one of my favorite country artists. The life-reminiscent songs came in during his later years, which shows the span of his music career.
The simplicity in his vocal outputs is what draws me to his music, and country music in general.
My favorite song by him is Stroll Over Heaven. That song is near and dear to me.

We did a video of for my parents 50th anniversary and used this song with videos and pic from when they dated till right up to their anniversary actually getting them to do a dance a few weeks before to their wedding song and put it together WELL my dad never cries he had tears in his eyes & my mum was a mess it was so great!

Marty Robbins sang a song called "Big Iron".. it was big before my time. Anyways theres a quartet or somethin of male backup singers that kinda echo martys lyrics and i cant help bit crack up when i start to listen for the guy with the bass voice. It gets me everytime. I know nothing of makin music, i can only imagine this guy isolated in the booth doing his part. Holy shit its somethin to get up and change the station to i'll tell you that much. 🤣🤣

Alan Jackson was my first love of music. His ability to write a song and tell a story is one of the greatest in country. When the world stopped turning is one to check out. He wrote it about 9/11. This particular song he wrote for his wife after it came out that he had stepped out on the marriage.
Alan Jackson...............an American treasure. Family first............really TRULY loves his wife and family. This is an amazing song.........you should review "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning" Guaranteed you will NOT make it thru THAT song with dry eyes.

I had the pleasure of seeing Alan Jackson some years ago and got to hear this song live. It hits different, or did for me, but it is my favorite AJ song. Almost bright a tear to the eye.
