    He was offered a job designing cattle pens and gave notice that he was quitting music but his wife made him give music one more year before he gave up. Record Executives would not give him a deal. He had 33 top 10 hits in a row, 22 of which were No. 1s. He has 86 top 10 hits with 44 of them being No. 1s. Man's a living legend. And it doesn't matter if he's standing in front 10 people or in a sold out arena, he sounds the same.

    George is a grieving father. He lost his oldest daughter when she was 13 yrs old. He wrote a song for her called “Baby Blue” that you should react to. I did not realize it happened until after I lost my youngest daughter almost 10 years ago.
    You become less sociable and yes private. Thank you for reacting to this song.🙏🏼🌹💕

    • @scotthunt2479
      @scotthunt2479 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's a nice thought, but, unfortunately, it's not accurate. "Baby Blue" was not written by George Strait. It was written by Aaron Barker in 1984, and George's daughter was killed in 1986 - so the song could not have been written for her. As a matter of fact, when Barker wrote the song, he wasn't really aware of who George Strait was. George found out about the song from his manager, Erv Woolsey. All that aside, sorry for the loss of your daughter.

  • @RoGueNavy

    There's a sequel to this song, called "I Can Still Make Cheyenne". George Strait is one of the greatest singers in history. I've seen him in concert twice, and he's all about the music. No pyrotechnics, no dazzling light show, no props. Just him, the band, and the instruments. The only other thing on the stage, is a plain wooden stool, with his bottles of water on it.

    • @wilburfinnigan2142

Before this song by George Strait, country music for me was just a tale of woe about how my girl left me, lost my job, I get fall down drunk and my dog just died. Here in Texas, he's OUR King George. Got to see him in concert once, and it was awesome. George revived & kept alive the Texas Swing genre originated by Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys. At the concert, there was a section of the venue that was clear of chairs which served as a dance floor. His music has always been absolutely MADE for dancing, and has been a dance hall staple here for decades. ...and yes... smoothest voice in country music.

    To say George was huge is an understatement, and is still amazing. This is true country music before they started with all the elements from other genres and electronic doo-hickys that they try to have today. This is the story telling of a cowboy riding the rodeo circuit which George has actually done, he's the real thing. Another one of his greatest songs is "Cross My Heart" which was my first ex-wife and my song. Still very hard for me to listen to, but it is so absolutely great.

    To get the jist of George Strait, you really should watch the motion picture he is in called "Pure Country." Co-stars Isabel Glasser and was Rory Calhoun's final picture. Truly a work of art. You'll not be sorry you watched it.

    King George is the most consistent singer in Country Music. He's as good today as he was when this song came out in '72. in 2009 he recorded a Mexican song called "El Rey" that you might like.

    When my boys were young I had certain group of singers at hand when the would argue in the back seat. George, Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton. Instant stop. My sons were over and my middle son and his wife started having a disagreement ( not common). I change the song to ring of fire. My sons started laughing and sang the whole song together. His wife eventually smiled, It still works after 25 years!

    If you go back and check how he got started, it was because Dolly Parton had canceled a performance at the Houston livestock show on rodeo and he lives around Houston area or close by and they called him to take her place. That’s what got him noticed the Houston livestock show on rodeoin Texas

    From 1988 to the early 2000's, I went to 21 George Strait concerts. I saw him 11 years in a row at the George Strait Team Roping Classic in Kingsville Texas. Those were the best shows ever. It was a small indoor arena where they packed the dirt floor after the rodeo and set up a stage. It was standing room only and you could get to within a few feet of the stage and George. Great memories.

    I saw George over the summer with 80k plus other people with Chris Stapleton as an opening act. They did a few songs together each night during the tour. Even in his 70s he sounded just as good as ever.

    Morning from America! Such a sweet country pop song..co-written by the late Terry Stafford ('Suspicion' singer) who had some success when he sang it in a somewhat twangy country way. Then came George Strait..his version, his reputation, adding the moving affects from the fiddle...massive hit. Just love this song.

    Thank you so much for pointing out the importance of taking breaks. Of course, the only way to learn a n ew skill is to practice regularly and it's important to develop discipline while you're learning the fundamentals, but once you have them down, you need to take time off now and then. Otherwise, you just end up plateauing and burning out. In fact, the only reliable way that I've found to break out of a plateau is to take time away and come back with a new perspective.
