    He was offered a job designing cattle pens and gave notice that he was quitting music but his wife made him give music one more year before he gave up. Record Executives would not give him a deal. He had 33 top 10 hits in a row, 22 of which were No. 1s. He has 86 top 10 hits with 44 of them being No. 1s. Man's a living legend. And it doesn't matter if he's standing in front 10 people or in a sold out arena, he sounds the same.

    To say George was huge is an understatement, and is still amazing. This is true country music before they started with all the elements from other genres and electronic doo-hickys that they try to have today. This is the story telling of a cowboy riding the rodeo circuit which George has actually done, he's the real thing. Another one of his greatest songs is "Cross My Heart" which was my first ex-wife and my song. Still very hard for me to listen to, but it is so absolutely great.

    George is a grieving father. He lost his oldest daughter when she was 13 yrs old. He wrote a song for her called “Baby Blue” that you should react to. I did not realize it happened until after I lost my youngest daughter almost 10 years ago.
    You become less sociable and yes private. Thank you for reacting to this song.🙏🏼🌹💕

    • @scotthunt2479
      @scotthunt2479 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's a nice thought, but, unfortunately, it's not accurate. "Baby Blue" was not written by George Strait. It was written by Aaron Barker in 1984, and George's daughter was killed in 1986 - so the song could not have been written for her. As a matter of fact, when Barker wrote the song, he wasn't really aware of who George Strait was. George found out about the song from his manager, Erv Woolsey. All that aside, sorry for the loss of your daughter.

    Here in Texas, he's OUR King George. Got to see him in concert once, and it was awesome. George revived & kept alive the Texas Swing genre originated by Bob Wills & The Texas Playboys. At the concert, there was a section of the venue that was clear of chairs which served as a dance floor. His music has always been absolutely MADE for dancing, and has been a dance hall staple here for decades. ...and yes... smoothest voice in country music.

    I Enjoy hearing the reactions of British people when listening to Country Music! You being a vocal coach and enjoying country vocalists...Try listening to Daryle Singletary's "I let her lie", or Keith Whitley's early LIVE version of a song called "I Never Go Around Mirrors". The way you are complimenting George Strait, You'll lose your mind over the vocal control and deep, rich country vocals in both of these artists. Really enjoying your reaction videos!

    I have always been more of a rock fan, but George Strait has a ton of good songs and it was impossible not to like his stuff. I hadn't heard this one, but have heard a number of the songs other folks have listed in the comments, and I hope you get a chance to listen to some of them as well!

    Amazing to hear her sail boldly into another universe and deconstruct what she hears and make it her own, and of course, her voice is so supple and amazing, sounds so effortless. And she's talking about George Strait! Like a boy from New Hampshire reacting to a parade with the Queen Mother.

    It's been said that George Strait could sing the phone book and make it sound good. He has been my fav singer and I've loved this man's voice for over 30 years. His accomplishments 60 #1 hits, record breaking sell outs, most CMA award wins, he's earned 60 major music awards. His selling stature ranks up there with Elvis, Garth Brooks and the Beatles. These plus other accomplishments is why he's called King George.

Got front row seats at his music festival in 2000’s and he was just great.

    My absolute favorite George Strait song... I would call radio stations to have it played. My wedding song was also GS, "I Cross My Heart". Have fun with the country! They tell a story when they sing, so many of them are actors, too. :D

      This is such a good insight! I had never put that into words, and I'm a story teller writer and word guy. In opera it's the music and maybe later we'll pay attention to the story, but thanks for saying this, because you've said so much with so little. The singing still has to be right, but it's the supporting actress. It has to know its place. Thank you tuguy, from Tucson Alan.

    If you go back and check how he got started, it was because Dolly Parton had canceled a performance at the Houston livestock show on rodeo and he lives around Houston area or close by and they called him to take her place. That’s what got him noticed the Houston livestock show on rodeoin Texas
