There is also laker to rust protect protect the dynamo tin collector against rust ..check out coil varnish

Good information thanks. Was it tricky separating the shell body. Heard some say it was really tight. Also, I wonder if water can build up in the stator housing as well as the shell. No way to safely drill the latter I expect?

the holes from stator wires put at bottom in case water does get in it will pass through

    Great video and tips!
Been pondering about buying one used, just discussing with the seller.
Water draining holes was in my list-to-do but never thought about balancing with paint. Simple solutions are usually the best.
Going to check for corrosion in slip rings, seems to be one of the problem in these models. I have an idea about running the cable through the mast pipe and installing the slip ring on the base of the pipe. If the cable twirls too much, the slip ring untwirls it. Any ideas on this? All ideas from someone more experienced are appreciated.

if it beomes an issue i would use rubber cables no slip rings extra cable down lower to see if it is twisting up remove it from the disconnect box untwist it from the ground re connect not a fan off slip rings

@@offgridgarage That could work better. Thanks.

Hi , great video ! I just bought a 48v one , im wondering do i need a charge controller or can i connect it straight to my batterys with a dump load and tristar set up in dump mode ? . Any idea of voltage produced after rectifier , thank you

you can use a 3 phase bridge rectifier with a 48v turbine on a 48v battery bank if your using flooded lead acid batterys ok with a dump load.but not on lithium batterys safely.

@@offgridgarage Thanks Reggie , thats exactly my plan , i have sealed lead acid batterys and three single phase Rectifiers ( works out cheaper to use three single phase ). Ill keep you posted how it holds up when i get it up , its on the side of a mountain in the west of Ireland so we shall see .

You will never get more than 3amps out of those tiny little wires ! 250 watts is all that generator will produce.

He may need not get more 3amp, but 3amp multiple by 600v is 1800 watts, which is plus or minus 33 amps at 48v
