Never do anything bc you're "told to" that's not only a lame statement, it didn't work out for the evacuees from hurricane Rita who were gridlocked/stranded on I 10 and I 45 for 4 days where + - 100 died out on the highways from heat stroke and those of us who sheltered in place had no weather hit us at all.

As a louisianian who survived katrina: unfortunately, most people dont evacuate because they don't have anywhere to go. We didn't have anyone we could stay with and we couldn't afford a month long or longer motel stay. And of course, the super dome hurricane refugee disaster.... It was such a mess, and so many people didn't get any aid to leave. There should be aid funds for those who are in mandatory evacuation zones. Because many of us would have to live in our car if we evacuated. I dont live in southern louisiana anymore, so I don't have to worry about this anymore. But I lived there most of my life and grew up there, so my heart goes out to everyone in the path of this hurricane
Especially these days, where everything is more expensive then ever. And everyone's living paycheck to paycheck. The gas to get out, the food while your out, places to stay, it would quickly cost over 10k. No one has that just laying around. And all the surrounding areas will go out of their way to make their hotels and gas even more expensive under the circumstances. It's basically a joke at this point.
Kind of ironic I was hit by Fran back in the 90s and now Francine is headed my way. Hopefully this one will do a whole lot less damage than what Fran did back in the day

We kept getting hit with rainbands which caused some troublesome flooding in alot in Cameron and Wilacy Counties. Remember to turn around, don't down. Stay safe everyone!
It's always bad when the gulf makes its own disturbances. They're almost guaranteed to hit somewhere with people, and is a sign of how unstable that environment is

I have been out in quite a few lower ranked hurricanes and had no issues, then again I watch my surroundings so that may change the balance. Hurricanes do not kill, people's stupidity does that.
Forecasts aren't 100% reliable. How many hurricanes in the last decade have ramped up to be much stronger than they were predicted to be ? Look up hurricane Otis that hit Acapulco last year in the middle of the night. 😳
