Hi I remember seeing you on Facebook years ago just came across this TH-cam im in Sheffield not far if I remember anyway may the gods bless you with a bountiful harvest subbing
I'm sowing all of my salads into gutter sections this year. I've got French breakfast radish to go in with lettuce, spring onions and land cress. These can be brought indoors easily for frosty nights. My first early potatoes are already planted. I plant potatoes in buckets and they too will be brought indoors when the temperature seriously drops. They are under fleece and near the house wall at the moment as it's only going down to around -2C.
I absolutely love all your video content’s, as a baby gardener I’m learning so very much, please don’t stop sharing as it’s very much appreciated 🙏God bless always x
Assalamu alaikum, I am from Sri Lanka. Got good lesson from you. Jazakallah. I am also following biofertilizer method in greenhouse. We can share our knowledge in future
I am nowhere near gardening this year yet, family illness and lambing just kicked off last night on our farm. The only thing I have in the ground is garlic. I agree with the onions, I grow from sets for my storage onions, but have discovered onion called Zebrune which does well when sown directly in April. Well done with all your plants.
I hope things get better and less busy soon, there's still so much time to get on with things, i'll look up that variety, where did you get your seeds?
Hi do you mind sharing some tips of how to help seedling started indoor? Specially in this gloomy spring weather in England my seedlings are becoming very leggy. I use grow lights for tomato and chilli plant but I don’t have enough lights for all my plants. Also do you use any grow tent? How do you grow tomato and chilli seedlings if the temperatures are not above 12degree C?
Here you go th-cam.com/video/0rmzEnbwJIM/w-d-xo.html Chillies need 18-25c to germinate, i use a heat mat tomaoes will germinate at lower temps but will take a long time
Hi, Can you make a video when you cut open your bottle gourd? Would be interesting to see. Also how and where did you store this bottle gourd for so long?
I have planted some tomato seeds saved from last year and other things I have been using a shop bought compost which isn’t great quality from the look of it and nothing has germinated ☹️ . Thanks for all the advise 🙏 though I’m always learning
Tomato seeds are very easy to germinate. Use coconut coir to sow your seeds in as its very fine compost and perfect for seed sowing or use half compost mixed with half coconut coir (or just buy a bag of compost labelled as 'seed starting compost'). I tend to sow the seeds in a plastic container, lightly water them to moisten the soil, then put lid back on tight and leave on top of my boiler (or any warm place like top of radiator). Tomato seeds germinate approx. 3-7 days. Always worked for me, in fact I used this method for almost all my seed germination for years and alway get great results. If you follow this method, I'm sure you will have success too. Remember the key to success is to create humidity, so it's important to leave the plastic container with lid closed in a warm place.
@@shalmaahad6915 ah, my seeds are in my conservatory which gets quite warm & then cold at night I will try to cover these ones up but I will sow more using your method , I will look out for coconut coir as I haven’t heard of it before . Thanks for the advice it’s much appreciated 🙏.
@@aileenh7736 I don't think your compost is the problem, its the fact that you left it in a conservatory and without covering. If you are in the UK, then there is no chance of the seeds germinating no matter how much sun you get. Try putting them in a more warmer place and keep it covered. You can use your normal compost, it should still work.
Is it ok to sow indoors now if I don't have a green house as not enough space outdoors to have one? The north side is more patio with trellis and climbers and herbs do well here, at the end of the north side where it's a bit sunnier I usually have flowers and have established fruit (not full light, but I give them well rotted manure and they like that). On south side it's all pots, it gets really hot in summer and at times windy, but I was thinking about planting tomatoes next to the boundary fence to shelter from wind. I do have a conservatory though on south side, bit cool in there at the moment.
Indoors is a great idea most of my seeds are inside, the conservatory sounds perfect, it might be worth using cloches in there so you create little micro climates
I sowed bottle gourd seeds and got my first true leaves. However, they turned brown with holes in them and ones snapped off. Will my plant still grow? Or have I failed again this year😢
Thanks Mothin. I've created a hot bed outside and I have hot compost beds (currently core temp 60 centigrade). I've germinated some seeds in trays on them. Would this work for cucumbers, tomatoes etc as I don't have a propergator? Thanks
I think hot beds are fantastic, i'll be setting mine up in the next couple of weeks. I think the cucumbers would geminate there i might be worth trying to cover it so it keeps a little more heat in
i've got most of my plants, the only ones outside can survive a little cold in the greenhouse, if it gets extreme then i'll cover them with some plastic
Planted peas, broad beans and spinach last month in the plastic greenhouse but still no sign of anything. Is that ok? Planted tomato's, cucumbers, peppers and aubergines in my new propogator last week. Tom's and cucumbers have germinated but nothing else has . I'm now taking the lid off during the day so they can have a bit of light. Is that right given the others won't be as warm.

Your videos are always so helpful, and I honestly never mind when you repeat things. It helps me to hear things more than once! 😆
I had a little chuckle to myself when you mentioned the pot noodle pots, I have been using them for the last 4 years for my tomatoes lol
I'm glad I'm not the only one sowing and planting indoors as it's freezing right now! 😅
Loved the rooster and hens were eyeing your scratching and planting the radishes. As always you are very organised. Good work Monty
They look very healthy! 👍

Have you given the pots any heat, tomatoes need a temo of 15-20c to germinate.

Hey brother, are you worried about the next weeks cold weather forecast? supposed to freeze again at night. Worried about my freshly sown seeds.
i've got most of my plants, the only ones outside can survive a little cold in the greenhouse, if it gets extreme then i'll cover them with some plastic
Naic
Coconut water is good for root shoot , induce more shoots. Fill with growth hormones. Treat seeds with that
Is it ?

can you take the ones that have germinated out during the day so you can keep the others covered ?
You appear to live in a residential area. Do you get complaints about the cockrel?
My neighbours are pretty good so no complaints

How do you know what seeds need heat to germinate?
The seed packet normally tells germinate temperature. If not .Google
Simple answer is experience, there's information available online but ultimately you'll get a feel for it
