Great review and interesting bag. May have to look out for it. the straps I recognize from other bags that I have: the zippers form a 90°-angle at these points, that means you can use them for quick access: When you position one of the straps between the zippers like you did at 11:37, you can actually use them to pull the compartement open quickly. Just choose the side from your assistance hand (referring to your gun grip), pull sharply on the strap and with it the bag away from the body and the zippers should open up, running along the 90°-angle, grab your gun with the main hand and go for it.
I hope my English can be understood here :)

If you have any store that sells guns to cops or sells security guard stuff or police accessories like belts and whatnot they typically have a huge 511 section that’s basically it’s own store, I live in Philadelphia and we have a couple.

Those tabs are for ripping open to get fast access to your firearm. I am lefty and use this bag daily. When I have to off body carry the Ccw compartment holds a loaded glock 48 with 2 extra magazines. Here is the key to quick access left or right draw. Do not use the loop for the gun Get a velcro backed kydex holster specific to your firearm. I use one from COOKS holsters and have left justified and it as fast as any off body carry i have ever used. I take the same holster and stick it in the LV6 when I am running or biking.

I love the wide shoulder strap. As a big guy, I find most sling bags do not fit comfortably on my shoulder and tend to ride down or dig in. Looks like that strap adjusts for days.
May have to look into this as my EDC/bugout combo bag. I still find it hard to pay over $100 for a sling bag, but the comfortability factor and huge water bottle holder has my interest up. Thanks for the review!

The lv10 doesn't fit right. The straps don't ride right. The backup strap actually pulls the bag AWAY from the shoulder causing it to slide off. It can ONLY be worn on the right shoulder due to design and cannot be switched. I much prefer the moab 10. Just my .02

There are many good edc bag manufacturers, but for me, its 5:11 or Nothing! And no, I'm not in law enforcement r sponsored. 5:11 makes good quality edc gear and it works for me. Hey GT,
This review has been awesome! I have been stuck for years taking a backpack with me. Messenger bags give me a sore back carring it on one side and most every sling has been of a size that I had to choose between fitting in a light pullover or a water bottle. I gave up on them a long while ago because of this. Having a dig through your channel and reviews I stumbled upon this! Brilliant! I sourced a store that had one here to check out and walked out with one in tarmac! Finally a sling that doesn't have me choosing ... and ... protects electronics I have by mounting the water bottle outside. The gusset fits my insulated 32oz Klean Kanteen nicely. We aren't allowed concealed carry over here, but, the CCW area in the back makes for a perfect padded 10in tablet storage along with a large power bank, freeing up space inside.
Thank you again for you brilliant review. I hope you, your family and friends are all staying safe in the current COVID pandemic.

Oooh! Looks like a reworked UCR! We've loved 5.11's UCR sling bag as a diaper bag for >2yrs. Yea it's smaller, just means I leave the kitchen sink at home. We love how ya can sling across your chest and be hands free. Great for changing a diaper or whipping out a granola bar. Being able to tuck the main strap under the side handle w/o cinching it creates a briefcase mode that is so handy when loading up in the car. I really like the pen/knives/multitool slots on this pack. The UCR's bungee is more suited to items like butt paste or obviously tq's. I'm always unclipping the shoulder strap and putting the dogs leash through the strap while I get the kid out of the car. Just hangs there at the bottom. I have a 2nd UCR that I use for EDC/errands. Holds my hammock, diaper or two, and the minimum kit we need for a run to the park. As a dad it's been perfect for me. Might have to give this version a go! My poor Vertx Commuter is getting no love as it is!

@@jamesrodgers2633 So, I actually got the pack and it's amazing...for a left-handed shooter, like me. If you're right-handed, you're probably going to want a sling that goes over your left shoulder. This pack would only work for right-handers if you got a holster with a retention strap because of how the grip would have to be lower than the muzzle(when the pack sits when on your back) in order to get a fast draw...which would still be delayed by having to pop a retention strap. Hope that helps.

I am Australian with some of the world's strictest gun and knife laws and even I found this comment to be stupid.
I'd carry a gun if I could, I have been robbed at knife point, I know people who have been robbed at gun point here.
Your only legal option for self defence is to "trust" the person robbing you does not want to turn a robbery into a murder and comply.
And for me, having a knife pulled on you is kind of a deal breaker with the whole "trust" thing.
Police are scarce, you have a better chance of being hit by lighting then to have police nearby when you need them, if you get the chance to call them "you never do" they will still take 20 minutes even in life or death situations.
After my mugging I called them, it took them 25 minutes to arrive, the police station is located only 5 minutes drive away so try to work that maths out.

  • @MichaelWebber
    @MichaelWebber 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I'm on an ongoing quest to find the "perfect" bag for stowing under the seat on flights, so thanks a lot for this review; messengers and slings don't get the travel love they deserve. Whatever I choose or take needs to leave room for both legs under the seat in front. IMHO zippers are better than just buckles with Velcro (which is typical for classic messenger bags) because stuff can't accidentally snake its way out from under a flap.
I tend to favor a large 32L day pack as my carryon luggage (Patagonia Paxat is the right size with fewer straps to get in the way than most) plus my messenger since, as you showed at the airport, in a pinch the messenger can be rotated to the front while the day pack is worn on the back, leaving both hands free. Being able to reach passport and papers in the messenger without removing either bag is convenient. The only problem is the "wide body" effect where I no one can bet past me in an airplace aisle.
The one thing I don't like is the right hand only configuration. On the other hand the sling design, vs. classic messengers with ambidextrous straps, seems to keep the sling in the small of the back better.
Kudos for trigger safety on you cc. With single-action modern pistols with no safety (the infamous Glock rocker bar in the trigger is for DROP safety), the holster IS the safety. No pens or loose junk can get in the trigger guard, but the quick release gives you fast access. Stay safe.
BYW my collection of fugly Griks is now up to 3 units.

I think the CCW pull tabs are designed to pull away from your body when wearing the bag. For example, you have the bag on your back, slide it around to the front, then grab the pull tab and pull away from your body allowing the main compartment to drop away from you to allow access to CCW.

I have the Rush 24. The GOAT in my opinion. I have a little bum bag I wear over my shoulder for little day trips. Bur this slightly bigger one from 5:11 WITH BOTTLE HOLDER. Looks perfect. HOWEVER, I am torn between this and the more compact 4 Banger Bag.
PS After watching your bang 2 & 4 reviee. I think this one wins for the day bag. Only thing is my back can get sweaty, but this looks like the one!
TBH though if I was confident my water would fit in the 2 Bang I'd go for that.

    I just purchased the 5:11 V-10 sling..
I have been looking for 2 years for a low profile Sling that has Backpack capacity..
this has everything I need and it doesn't scream I'm carrying..
    just a Note to you..
there are 2 hidden pockets that you never pointed out..
when you find them please reply 🙏..
    I would love to hear..

I get that this one not having MOLLE makes it more lowkey, blends in better with crowds without yelling "I'm a tactical militarily looking back I might be packing!" BUT , functionality wise, the 5.11 Rush MOAB 10 blows this out of the water, plus that one is ambidextrous, has an amazingly ingenious rapid access pocket for the concealed gun, AND is attachable to the RUSH 24 and the RUSH 72 backpacks, the MOAB 10 is hard to beat, if only it had come out in a non-MOLLE version for a more lowkey approach : /

George DEFINED does a review of this bag. He explains how those corner tabs on the consealed weapon section work. Pretty ingenius really.

Thanks for the review. It gave me the confidence I needed to pull the trigger! I love this bag! It looks rugged and classy at the same time. Perfect amount of pockets- love its size and all the handles!

The C-clip can be replaced with a Nite-Ize #2 S-Biner Slidelock. Works fine.

I'm not sure of anyone said anything yet but that CCW pocket, the little tabs with velcro (@11:25) are supposed to assist with a quick draw if you're concealing. You velcro either of the tabs to the outside then pull the front part of the bag away from you to basically pry the bag open to access your firearm. The zippers were made to withstand the harsh pull when you pull the bag open to draw. I bought the bag for father's day and have been testing it for a bit... I honestly prefer IWB carry but if you want to carry and prefer to go out in your gym shorts or clothes that make it a bit challenging to conceal, it's a good way to conceal.

When I see sling bags, I think, "They've got a gun". So, there's a risk that you are telegraphing that fact. Also, lefty-only... :-\

I don't think very many people carrying ccw leave there gun in there pack/bag. You set down your bag you lose your gun.
