    I think, on this A1 Spinakur I need to leave it away from the plug a tiny bit. I think it’s hits different ya know 🤷‍♂️

    • @shieldcracker
      @shieldcracker 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a Spinakur and it works most of the times. Just wind it 1-1/2 to 2 turns, locate the spinner tip at the top of the keyway (plug center), orient the plug keyway 15 to 30 degrees away from the pin stack. Hold the turn firmly (both hands) and press the button.
      Yes this tool does have a steeper learning curve but that's the price to pay for being cool little tool that fits in your pocket or pick case.

    Thank you for the great content. I’m a new Locksmith in Santa Fe. I’m getting into it a little bit later in life than most, I’m in my 40’s. I do mostly lockouts and rekeys. I have been having great luck with my Peterson plug spinner. The only time I had a fail was on a wafer lock that was on an RV(it was also my first one of those). Before I realized that I just wasn’t pushing it hard enough to release it, I tried to spin it the other way. I know now that wasn’t the issue. The Peterson spinner fits in my pick case and it comes with an extra spring. It has saved the day on numerous occasions. I guess I’ll find out if will last me as long as yours, I hope so. Thanks again for the content. I intend to watch all of your videos. I have subscribed as well. Happy Independence Day!!!

    Excellent video, I’ve been in the business a long time, never invested in a plug spinner, kwikset no problem to pick, I’ll always get it with a half Diamond.
    Now Schlage which due to spool pins can be quite a challenge with 1/2 Diamond or hook pick.
    Murphy law, it picks easier the wrong way, I think I will now purchase a plug spinner. Thanks for the informative video.

    I have that spinner. it fits in my pocket nicely, but yes it does have to be turned about 1 and a half to two full turns to work.

    Another great video Jason. I feel like the plug spinner works about 25% of the time for me, but I’ll try some of your tips to improve the odds. Cranking out an extra turn or half turn didn’t occur to me-I “assumed” that you’re supposed to follow the directions and only turn it once, but now that seems silly. Love the idea of chamfering the end to make it more key-like to get it in the center of the keyway better. And it’s always nice to see a “professional” struggle with something too-makes me feel a little less dumb 🤣

    I've got one of those A1 plug Spinners like you were having those fails with. It doesn't work very well for me either. I've been thinking about buying the Rytan actually. Now that I know that someone with more experience than me also has trouble too, I'll probably go ahead and get a different plug spinner. The only advantage of that small one is it's easy to carry cuz it fits neatly in small spaces.

    I wish someone would start manufacturing the a1 sp1 agin. I don’t use plug spinners often so I prefer compact spinners. I hate the dart shaped ones that snag on everything. The Petersons plug spinner is what Ive been carrying the last couple years. my only complaint about it is the nuts loosen up over time. Other than that it works flawlessly every time.

      Put Locktite On The Screw Threads And The Nuts Won't loosen Up

    • @mumbles1justin
      @mumbles1justin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stephenzies8867 I've been tempted to a couple times. But I'm worried if I ever need to replace the spring I may snap those teny tiny screws even if I use blue locktite. I may go ahead and do it though. My luck now that you mentioned it if I don't one of the screws and nut will be completely missing when I need a spinner the most.

      @@mumbles1justin I use green locktite on my Peterson and I have been able to disassemble it with no issue and the nuts don’t fall off. Just a little bit though. A little goes a long way in this situation

    Diamond pick has been my go-to from day one. I do like the lishi..but every time I reaaaallllly need it to pick it lets me down. (old guy standing over my shoulder wondering what's taking so long)
    I've always used a gun type plug spinner (cheapie I think) that has worked very well.

    Locksmith tip - if you bump a cylinder the wrong way, use your plug spinner where the ring goes thru.

  • @pouncerminned863
    @pouncerminned863 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    FYI- kw1 lishi doesn’t have 7 depth, so if you have a lock with a 7 depth lishi isn’t gunna work

    • @stevemasters9921
      @stevemasters9921 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      7 isn’t a valid depth for kwikset pins. I have only had 1 lock with a 7 in it and customer had lost all keys so when I had lock apart I swapped out that 7 pin. It was a bear to pick too.

    • @selock
      @selock  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stevemasters9921 some of those super cheap $5 locks sold primarily to HUD “contractors” came all keyed to one of the common hud keys with 7’s in it. Thankfully the popularity of those died off when HUD changed the decision of having all their properties keyed to that key (it was like 76677 or something)
      They are built like the video “the worst Kwikset” in our older videos!

    • @stevemasters9921
      @stevemasters9921 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@selock , I thinking how hard a 47171 with some spool pins thrown in would be to pick. I bet that one I came across with a 7 was a previous HUD house. Maybe stiffer springs on the 7 pins so that it really takes full compression to get to shear line. What do you think?
