You are correct. I went to Turkey, Malta and Italy with just 17mm f1.8, 12-40mm f2.8 and the OM-1. Light and fantastic. The shots taken as high as ISO6400 had little to no noise. OM System have nailed the way to shoot.

Yes, I agree! I have been using M43 for ten years. The lenses are low cost and high quality. You can get almost anything. I have the GX9 at present, it is fab! It does great in low light too, don't forget that the 5-axis IS can be your friend, high iso is not needed. Have fun with photography, use m43 😁 (PS- I have a Fuji too, it is also great)

      @maggnet4829 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

It only brings you far if you shoot still images or don't mind movement blur.
The lenses are only cheap for the reason that they have a low aperture equivalent.
      E.g. the Olympus 45mm 1.8 is equivalent to a 90mm f3.6. T
The Viltrox 85mm 1.8 AF II you can buy for €300.
Yes, it's twice the price, but you get a much higher ISO range with FF and if you wish a lower depth of field with this aperture. I'm convinced it would be no issue to manufacture a lens closer to the Olympus aperture for FF for a similar price. It's just that nobody does it. Though Sigmas 10-18 f2.8 for APSC is going into that direction and at f2.8 even outperforming MFT lenses in that range. Considering it covers several primes in its range, the price isn't high.

Hi Tudor, Your way of basing is very interesting. You are an ambassador of photography and not of a brand, something very rare today. There are still people in this world who do not take the M43 seriously and it is a system that can do almost everything well. Of course, for certain things, such as wide-angle use and for wildlife, larger sensors offer more advantages. But I wanted to especially highlight what you said about marketing, beautiful words to give you a standing ovation.
Even at Olympus, if you compare the first original EM 5 vs the other versions, without a doubt the first was the best made and today it is a very, very cheap camera.

Although recently I've been playing with Ricoh GR cameras, for years I used Olympus m43 (still do), and the Olympus is an unsurpassed street photography gem that no one ever considers a classic.

Great points on all fronts. I’ve shot every camera known to man and m4/3 is the most fun. It’s too bad they’ve stopped making small premium bodies and the R&D is non-existent right now.
Give me an updated EM5.2 and I’m buying

A very interesting perspective from you especially since you pepper the video with truly exceptional images demonstrating what can be achieved in the hands of someone whop knows what they are doing. I was a Canon shooter for many, many years (+ others such as Leica, Minolta, Pentax and Olympus - in the days of film). I have also used many Fujifilm bodies. Age + some associated health issues forced me to buy into M43. My images are pretty good most of the time. The lens choice is immense. The lens quality can be staggeringly good - for example Oly 12-100 Pro, Oly 40-150 Pro. Pana Leica 12mm f/1.4 - and many others. I have an OM1, which I love and bought an EM 10 iv as an EDC. I love that camera - the perfect size with the likes of the 17mm f/1.8. It is perfect for street apart from not being weather resistant. I realised the OM5 was a pretty close match in size so I have just bought one (Black Friday price was too tempting). It came bundled with the 12-45 Pro f/4 which I intended to sell on until I tried it out - what a truly fantastic lens! Unbelievably crisp results from a tiny lens. I have the 12-100 Pro f/4 and have used the original 12-40 Pro f/2.8 and the Pana Leica 12-60 and have no hesitation in saying the 12-45 is a lens well worth having. It is as sharp as the 12-100 and the12-40, but in a much smaller package. I also picked up a mint used Pana Leica 12mm f/1.4 - what a stunning lens! If you have not tried that, get hold of one. You will thank me!!! There is no doubt at all that M43 is an amazing system capable of superb results. You just have to use it properly. As you say, the one (and only) real negative can be noise in low light but there are ways round that, such as flash and/or tripod. For those of us with arthritis and chronic heart failure M43 is perhaps the absolute best system, and it possibly is too for everyone else.

I absolutely agree with all that you are saying. I am a Fuji and M43 dual user and tend to grab my m43 more.
    I have the OM5 and 12-45mm F4 Pro and 17mm F1.8 lens.
Planning to add the 25mm F1.8 and 45mm F1.8 both.
Also planning to add the 12-100mm F4 lens as an international travel lens. Will use the 12-45mm F4 primarily as city domestic travel lens.

Similar to me. I have XT2 and OMD EM1 II. I was taking my Olympus more than the Fuji however I have just bought an XS20 so will see how that goes. Fancy an OM1 but even with the Cashback still a bit expensive for me.

    Hi Tudor,
I just want to mention that the autoiso for the EM10 was not perfect but it was also not crippled.
One Option is to use manual and set aperture and shutter speed with autoiso turned on. Usually you will need that only in very dim conditions and its not perfect but a acceptable workaround. If not just stay in S and set you min. Shutter speed. The iso will be automatic then also.
But Olympus did not cripple the functions like other brands even with the entry level EM10 and thats why I love my EM10 M2 even in 2024.
    Greeting
    Jens

I love my m4/3 system been using it for over 5 years now primarily for video but man the photo's are great as well. It would be nice to see more development and less software crippling I was able to remove the record time limit for video which is awesome. The best part is m4/3 is the "ugly duckling" of photography which means you can buy used like new bodies and lenses for dirt cheap relative to other systems just because it's not "COOL"

Great Video! I love the Olympus micro 4/3 system & I have been using it for many years. For travel it can not be matched. DXO for noise reduction cancels many of the problems with low light. A new weather sealed Pen F with some of the features you have mentioned would be a game changer for the system.

Tudor, I was tempted to add to m43 lineup with a Fuji or FF camera. In the end, I didn’t. You are right, you shoot for the light with the lower ISO performance of m43 cameras. There’s been the occasional time where I’d wanted high ISO performance, but do I really need to invest thousands of $ in a new system when I’ve got a m43 kit well invested. I’ll take my Olympus cameras out at night and shoot for the light and have been ever since I first bought the E-PM2 nearly 10 years ago. Agree with you, EM10ii is a fantastic camera.

Great video Tudor! I love my GX9 and the 15ml 1.7 plus the 25mm 1.4. The images out of the camera are just beautiful and to me, resemble film with better colors than most cameras, including Fujifilm. I almost bought a Nikon Zf but it's just overkill for what I do. For my pro work I use a Fujifilm XH2s but anything personal, it's M43 or the older Fuji cameras, (such as the X-E2 with TTArtisan 23mm 1.4. Just amazing! )
I'm considering the OM-D EM1 ii for the wildlife travel capabilities but I cannot justify it due to the capability of the XH2S for wildlife. I might splurge though and pick it up anyway or perhaps the OM-D EM10 IV. I love small cameras and lenses!
Have you shot with the EM1 ii?

    • @Tudor_Mateescu
      @Tudor_Mateescu  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

No, I didn't shoot OM em1 ii but we have two great photographers here in Romania that made amazing images with the camera:

Ok. today the editing programs are so good that eliminating noise is not a problem at all. In lightroom, there is also enhance, which adds more pixels, and if the image is properly exposed, it is no problem to print out images in size 1000 mm. no matter what super camera you have, you still have to edit the image result!

I will focus mainly on Fujifilm for the moment. Also the channel audience plays an important role in my direction.
But for genres I do recommend the following:
      - outdoors, travel, street, nature and wildlife, macro photography micro four thirds is the best
      - Street photography and family photography, documentary photography I would choose Fujifilm (also works for events)
      - for wedding, event photography, get the job done in studio full frame Sony

Most camera manufacturers including Panasonic use other manufacturers sensors. And that’s from Sony. The om1 uses a new sensor from Sony. And most camera companies use sensors for many years just like Olympus.

Super nice camera, but I think they should have learnt more from Fuji in terms of operation. Fuji has left the automatic functions of the exposure triangle on the control dials. Nikon has unnecessarily wasted an additional lever for this. Wasted because other functions such as drive mode or AF mode would be better placed there. Unfortunately, the aperture ring is missing on the new AF lenses. Instead, they have fitted the silver function-free pseudo-ring. I immediately fell in love with the Nikon Zf and then I got to grips with its operation. -- Do you get on with it?
