Let’s mention how full HE makes them sound. Thank you a lot, that is the freedom and experience I like in my playing. Practice and Technique are somehow always in play with each other. Btw, I was so stunned when I found out it was a Single Kick. Keep up the great work❤️🫶✌️
I grew up in church music but came to the drumming party late…I was lucky enough to have a DW 5000 double pedal at my last church (!) but I rarely got to use both pedals because of the context of the music (mostly pop-like CCM stuff). Also, I wasn't really able to play grooves that didn't involve hi-hat because certain others in the band relied on it to stay in time and it would throw them off if I changed things. Every now and then I could sneak in some hard/alt rock/metal or hip-hop/funk playing, or throw in double pedal on a big cymbal ending. I agree with some of the other comments that the condition of the pedal makes a difference…that DW 5000 made fast single-foot playing a breeze! But a light touch on the foot always makes playing quick doubles easier.
Heard and heard. I don't play double bass myself, which is why I'm here on this vid. Lol. But even if I did, I couldn't bring a double bass pedal in. Never liked the potential real estate issues, and it'll be tough to fit the double bass in a gospel setting (at least for my gormless butt). And if I played double bass, I don't think I could resist the urge to use the second pedal. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The minister of music will look at me like, "Boi, you can't be mucking up the spirit like that. You thinkin' of the _wrong_ Lamb of God. 😂"
Currently trying to learn Bonham's Good Times Bad Times a year into my drumming and have been binge watching your foot technique videos! Love them all! Keep up the great content!
You have perfected a technique that I thought was impossible. I just immediately readjusted my pedal to single and tried it. After about twenty minutes of adjusting from double to single....I have to admit (no disrespect intended ), it works. Really. I've been drumming some 30+ years and I'd like to think I've got some skills and have made a pretty penny doing so but I ALWAYS want to be a student of music so good sir, I'm on board. Thank you for your insights!

If I may, there's a post I put in the general section that I think can do a good explanation of what's going on. I came across this comment, and I think y'all had a point. And looking back at the video, I think I can see the disconnects, so I tried to tie them up. Lol Check that out if yall are interested, and let me know whatcha think. 😎👍
Yo. So I put a post that may be able to supplement the vid. I think you have a point, and I was able to spot the disconnects. Feel free to check out that post. I think it might help. And let me know what you think.
Thank goodness this video was made....I was trying to explain to someone how double footed techniques could be done by one foot....and they didn't understand how much harder it was to do so.
4:48 DAMN. Thats what i am going for. io used to play a double and that was my fav. just getting back to it but with a single. this weeks journey. ITS POSSIBLE with a single. thanks.
Thanks man ..... incredibly I got it straight away in shorter bursts but I need more stamina to develop a groove. Not bad for a sixty year old tart like me.
Hell yeah I’m still not the best but I love the breakdowns in metal core and love just fast metal so this video is so good I’m really working on single pedal cuz I’m to broke to buy a double lmao
I play a lot like Rashid, but I've never knew how to explain it to people that well lol This video made me think how awkward it would be to lose a big toe though
what stands out to me that i find interesting, is that theres no mention of " Slide" technique", where some teach the tap first near midpoint of pedal with ball of foot, and then slide up and stomp down with the whole foot. trying to learn it that way is rather awkward for me, and I find myself wanting to just play both notes with the ball of my foot near the top of pedal; almost like quick hopping motion, and thats what you appear to do here. does that make any sense? ty.
A good thing to start with is setting up you stool at a relatively high height, the higher you seat, the less effort you have to do to lift your leg=the easier you can play heel up. Also it’s better for your back, for your technique, and so on. Then it’s only a shitload of practice and experimentation to find that sweet spot that works for your body. I see a lot of drummers seating really low where in fact seating a bit higher can really change the deal. Also the higher you seat, the closer your drum kit is to you. If you’re interested in this I suggest you check out Jojo Mayer’s foot technique in his dvd « secret weapons for the modern drummer 2 », hope this was useful, stay safe man !

Its always a good day when drumeo posts
I've seen this comment before.
Rashid is really exceptional at being able to explain his principles & specific technique in a way that others can understand & pick up on. Well done!
i don't hear, him telling me at all how the ankle/toe technique works , or whatever it is.
Isnt anyone gonna mention how freaking good those drums sound?

Mapex drums are underrated. Great value drums

"No cheating in the church"...I loved that. I grew up playing drums in church as well, so this comment really hit home. Great playing as always.

One of the ONLY rules about cheating in church. My grandma always told me.
😂my dad said the same thing and he was a rock n roll guy that hates double kicks 🤣🤣

I’ve been playing for about 5 years now and I still can’t figure that song out 😂
I'm still trying to learn that song too, but getting to that speed is taking a lot of time. Maybe one day.
Can you give me basic drumming foundation

holy hell. i would die to have this dude as my teacher. his sound is amazing.
Me: How do you play bass triplets?
Rashid: You just play them.
Me: Oh, okay.
haha yes maybe there isn't anything to it besides just working on it for years
yep ,no mention of the actual ankle technique at all

That snare kills!!
Got that progressive metal style breakdown with the ghost notes...awesome technique..
Perfect practice makes perfect. Keeping in mind that perfection is subjective. It's also a myth. Great video! 😊
Rashid is awesome!!! Hope i can nail it like him!! I always have my pedals loose going to try it with tension makes sense! Thanks for the tips!
mad respect for players who can get a double pedal sound with just 1 pedal

all you had to tell them is try doing a drum roll with one hand.
This Mapex kit is insane!!! Love it!!!
Perfect, and that snare sound 🔥🔥💣
Heel toe works amazing with this as well. That's If you use Heel toe technique for your double strokes.
I love your floor tom heads Big thanks for the lesson..
It's like the ghost notes are playing their own separate groove so fucking cool

3:44 more than rock breakdowns, those are deathcore breakdowns 🤙😎
Dude your drumming is epic
Nice. Makes it look easy. Lots of hard work to get it to that point. Thank you.

Very nicely done! Not as easy to get triples on the foot up to speed as you’d think. Mine break down around 75bpm. Thanks for the exercises!
Sweet! New eyes on old technique. Thanks
nice man I can use that for my druming .thanks brother. ohhhh very very beautiful drum set
Those single-foot triplets are dope, but can we talk about Rashid's ghost notes for a minute? They're some sneaky little things!
That's awesome. I'm motivated. I `ll stick it!

Ahh... I loved the rim shots on this snare!!
I’m gonna try this
Enjoy!
In other words: play something like a slide double, then add an additional note by dropping the leg.
sick kicks.. imma practice this..

how do you hold heel up without straining leg muscles to hold the elevated position?

A real quality pedal also cuts the work in half, but there is no replacement for practice; only in time it becomes easier.
