Frankly the fact that Smite even lasted this fucking long on a modified version of UE3 speaks volumes of how much people love Smite's core gameplay. A present-day engine for Smite 2 alone was enough to get me to re-install Smite 1 just to play the game again after a year. This is SORELY needed.
100% agree. At first, I was disappointed about the whole skin porting issue. But I quickly realized that having a modern game engine that provides game devs a stable environment to work in is absolutely worth not having different colored pixels on the screen. It'd be nice to play Smite without having the game crash every other game lol
To be honest, I'm in the camp that wants Smite but better. I don't really care about losing the skins if it means I don't have to worry about crashes anymore. The constant DCs and frame rate drops are insane in Smite 1, so Smite 2 is definitely a welcomed change!!
This is so true, something we just never thought about is how good the game looks and feels, being made in an 18 year old engine. It's like comparing Toy Story 1 and 4 in terms of visuals!
I hope smite 2 release in mobile too Imagine the player base they can gather..CODM is successful in mobile why not SMITE? League of legends fail because of their ego...long ago before Mobile legends created people beg riot games to have a mobile version 😂...sucks for them .. their too late To have a strong player base here in asia SMITE 2 know how to upgrade 🎉🎉
Smite 2 needs a rewards system that teaches new players how to play, build & about the game and its mechanics. There's none of that apart from youtube. And it makes new players leave just as fast as they came. This system should be borderline forced, because most ppl would just skip or skim through, but forced in a manner that is rewarding
Moba genre is made out of 200000000 community made maps and Conquest aka DOTA aka Defens of the Ancients is like 20 year old gamemode atthis point. @keyless3994 Yep, best advice I could give is find a buddy patient enough who's a smite veteran, binge some youtube videos, don't play scared and send it man!
issue is having a smite veteran though, the smite discord is impossible to find people to play with at least in my experience so i just play solo all the time. which honestly sucks. @@MrWEST1
My friend whos new to smite is very excited for smite 2 because the cast is smaller. Smite one has a huge cast but in smite 2 starting out with a small pool means he can learn the gods quicker and not be so overwhelmed
Mobas just aren't new player friendly at all. Either you take the time to learn or you don't. Also be prepared to die on cooldown. That's why smite2 will be probably the best opportunity for new players, since everyone will be learning.
Pre-Alpha Smite 2 already feels incredible to play, it would be impossible to continue to incorporate new systems on Unreal engine 3. The sky's the limit using unreal 5. Like it or not this was needed for the longevity of the franchise.
@@GamingDualitiesyeah the heads are still gonna care about skin money more than balance but on UE5 patches can happen literally 7x faster if not more since the code won’t suck ass
I’m looking forward to the upgrade in graphics but I will miss the charm old smite had with its animations, but trading charm for approachability from new players if definitely worth it in my opinion
The only thing I think is a mistake is running both games at the same time. When all the gods have been added to Smite 2, I hope the focus on it instead of continuing both.
I think they are trying to make people move from smite gradually, since not everyone have a good pc either, discontinuing smite would mean that a part of an already small playerbase would be unable to play smite
@@DecemberAU to them? nah. this little guy has like 20 comments on this video alone talking about how he hope smite dies or that smite 2 is a stupid idea or shit compared to other mobas, mind you this is because of skins probably. these are the exact same players who are going to be playing smite 2 fyi.
Prototyping with UE5 is a huge thing. Playing with abilities ideas for a new god you don't need a team of programmers behind you. Get a generic model, figure out the ability you're trying to create. Spaghetti code a quick example in place with blueprints and then you have something you can show off as a reference to for it to be programmed efficiently.
The most important thing that needs to be accomplished with smite 2 is growing the player base and visibility and i believe it can but that's up to the new players willing to learn the game if they've never played a moba. Patience is the overall objective
Well that’s also on the current player base as well. If a new player gets in to 5 matches and gets screamed at and spam pinged in all 5 matches because they’re new, of course they’re not gonna wanna keep learning. It’s gonna have to be an effort from everyone.
@RomDog-2648 yeah that's the biggest thing players have trouble with is mechanics. Knowing when to fight, when to run, how to build, how to siege. I kno I said how to build but again HOW TO BUILD lol. There's a lack of tutorial within and outside the game to be real when we consider there's a small portion of people who actually want to teach
I think also lessening the barrier to play Ranked. I just reinstalled Smite after a few years and it looks like Level 30 isn't a requirement to play ranked any more? But the fact that it was was so stupid, because it took FOREVER to grind to that level. Idk what the requirements are now, but it seemed like you needed a certain number of Heroes mastered. They may or may not need to lower that number too, idk.
Just not having to deal with spaghetti code anymore is going to do wonders for the game. I most excited about the posibilities for god design now that there should be less domino effects for adding and changing things. This is prime opportunity for some much needed reworks, ajustments for transition to Smite 2 and some new ideas that where maybe a little "too inventive" for the UE3 spaghetti code we had before.
5:52 Nope, it's not about the skins, it's about the disregard for their loyal community. My understanding is that we're apparently only being refunded gems based on what our account has ever bought in total. So what about buying a battle pass that unlocked 3 skins for 600 gems, plus the chests that are part of the paid reward track? Players invest their time for the greater rewards, there was moments when I didn't feel like even playing the game but I really wanted the final reward in a pass or bought it so I grinded it out. You're going to tell me that the 8 skins I got from my time and effort are reduced to a meager 600gems as the entry cost for that battle pass? What about completing an entire overpriced event or odyssey? Sure you can get bonus chests as rewards that could contain more skins in the odyssey, or special skins for buying everything in an event, but none of those have any value now? That's a sick fucking joke that spits in the face of any player who was willing to spend their money on the game to begin with. I honestly can't believe how anyone could accept having hundreds or even potentially more than a thousand dollars worth of content from their account erased and doled out in whatever they justify as an equivalent exchange. If there isn't a skin to gem, voice pack to gem, item to gem type of ratio they're scamming players who put in time to earn all of these things. I'd rather the servers die out with players having to get host than have them take everything you earned away from you only to repackage it all in some new monetization with individual god ascension packs or whatever the fuck else they end up gating every repackaged thing behind.
As an Overwatch player I’ve wanted to play Smite for a while, cause I love games with abilities and roles. But tbh I literally just can’t figure out how I’m supposed to play the game, there’s so many factors and layers and I can’t seem to find anything to really teach me what’s going on and what I’m supposed to be doing. My 3rd match ever I got yelled at by some weirdo in game chat for not playing right. Hopefully Smite 2 is a fresh start for newer players to hop into because I’d like to play.
That problem is new players being paired with really bad players. Low elo players always want to blame someone for why they personally are playing so poorly. You really just have to get some matches under your belt. Mute players that are like that, because if they are not new and paired with a new player it means they are absolute garbage at the game.
Welcome dude. Don't worry too much - the learning curve can take a while anyway, and all online games always have some of these toxic people. Especially the first noob levels since they have their own matchmaking before lv30+ lobbies open up. Pretty sure I sucked balls for a really long time, but I still had fun and improved slowly. Watching some content and reading discussions and guides can help a ton.
it really just takes a long time to learn everything, it helps if you can play with a group who is welcoming of new new players, some people like to teach new people! I always see people on in the Smite discord and I'm in some Smite facebook groups as well. People take the game too seriously and get upset, just mute them and move on. But I do agree I hope Smite 2 will give new players a better experience over all!!
Yeah, agree. I have played quite a bit of smite (albeit nowhere near as much as OW), but I still don't really know what I am supposed to be doing. And I really wish I did, as I think the game is sooo cool. It's so much more appealing than the other MOBAs, not even close. Sometimes, things go well and I end up shredding on Cernunnos or Apollo, sometimes I just get owned completely. In Overwatch I know why i lose when I lose and why I win when I win. That has never really been the case for SMITE, unfortunately.

It's hard to put into words how much of an improvement ue5 will be over ue3. Not only is better and faster to make content for most developers nowadays know ue5 and not ue3 which means hi-rez had a very small pool of people who they could hire that didn't need on job training.
@Blueprint4Murder you have 0 coding and development experience if you think that the graphics are what I'm talking about. Development tools in ue5 are way in beyond what the best ue3 could do. Plus, like I said, 95% of the developers don't know how to code on ue3. There is a reason most modern projects are moving to UE5.
I really think Smite 2 will help bring Smite up to par with other games. Both the graphical and gameplay systems in UE5 will really help improve performance overall.
I wouldn't say it's 10 steps back. Smite 1 is outdated, and needed a refresh for the developers to actually be able to add new "original" content. The only people that are mad are the people who won't get to use every single skin from Smite 1 which doesn't bother me too much. UE5 > UE3 by like a big leap yk @@Pax_Mayn3
Ive worked briefly with ue3, and worked more recently with ue5. The difference cannot be understated, ue5 will allow Hirez and Titan Forge to really make a brilliant game, no holds barred. They already provide almost weekly content for Smite 1, while designing on an engine thats effectively like fighting with both hands tied. Also, skins have, and always been, purely cosmetic. Smite 2 vanilla is gonna look better than any skin ive purchased, and theyre giving me that for free.
The game was always good. The managment of community one of the worse. I just hope we get a massively revamped and more intuitive/fun "training/practice" tab - I think a massive part of the new player retention problem is that learning kits, builds, and core gameplay patterns (laning, jungle pathing, teamfights etc) is a lot of info for new players to take on all at once
Been playing since Season 2 Xbox closed beta and I couldn’t give less of a shit about my skins not transferring. I am happy enough to know that I supported this game for almost a decade and I will be purchasing the founders pack even if I get an alpha key. Sure, smite has bad things going for it, but regardless of the community’s stance on the skin situation, you can’t deny that Hi-rez/titanforge love this game enough to do something like this.
@@bwhere45 They're not "re-charging" you, though? They've said that any skins that they transfer from Smite 1 to 2 will be 100% purchasable with legacy gems. The 50% off restriction only applies to new skins and old crossover skins (because of licensing issues).
@@bwhere45 they're throwing half your money back you and are letting you use any legacy gems on items that are recreated, and they literally lose money from their current set up. shut up nerd.
Considering other U5 made games as well as the fact that spaghetti code is no more and there will be only 50 gods on release I'd guess between 60-90 giggs, I know that's a pretty big range but it really depends on how well optimized and efficiently ran the game is
One of my favorite MOBA content creators, Krashy, said he’s gonna try out Smite 2 and I love his videos so if Smite 2 means more content from some of my favorite creators then bring it. I know this channel is gonna be coming out with banger after banger for Smite 2. I’m excited. We should all be excited.
I'll forgive hirez for not delaying the game 2 years to port every skin if they bring back Nox's old taunt. Seems like a fair trade. Edit: Also awilix's old idle animation.
Good points here, I was never a fan of MOBAs until my brother introduced me to smite about 2 years ago. Now i love smite and am excited to see what Smite 2 will bring
I'm actually excited to be a part of SMITE 2's entire history. I look back on a lot of event skins that I just wasn't here for and wish I played sooner. Now I can have access to any of them!
@@lorinlankins3004 Honestly compared to EA or Activision, Hi-Rez is being rather generous with cosmetics (Legacy Gems). Sure, it's not perfect, but like mentioned in the video, the skins would be gone when SMITE is unsupported anyway. There's always a chance skins get ported later in development, too.
@@lorinlankins3004all original smite skins will be 100% buyable with the legacy games you’re given. I’m sure the T5 skins will be among those that are transferred over to smite 2 at some point. Even if they’re not though, you must have known that Smite wasn’t going to last forever, same with any game you spend money on for skins and in game items. Plus you can still play them on Smite if you care that much about them
Agreed. I originally started Smite in Season 1, but left shortly after Susano was released, and didn’t come back until Season 6. Now, I have lost interest in the game and learning the item meta all over again. I haven’t played season 10 at all. Thank god for Smite 2. I can get a fresh start and be part of the journey this time.
@twoface9959 I'm ngl that's kind of a silly take. Alot of the items and map changes will be in returning in Smite 2 so you'll have to learn it anyways. Even if a few new people will be learning it with you, most people will already know it from Smite 1 so you're in the same spot. The strength, intelligence thing isn't gonna be that much of a learning curve, it's still very similar to what Smite 1 already has
Many dont understand, that Announcing Smite this year is the way of being transperent and make plyers understand, why Year 11 is going to be such transition, lack of gods, lack of new skins. Making this announce makes developing Smite 2 much easier, as their players now understand what is going on
I think forcusing on the visual imrovement is missing the forest for the trees. Less we forget that some of the most popolar games currently aren't graphical power houses nor are they looking to push new visual boundaries. What they do have is a solid art direction to keep you in. What Smite really needed was the power of a new engine to make development and maintenance easier.
I don't mind losing the skins if Hi Rez or someone manages to save the voicelines that went with the skins for everyone to use if they want. There is so much that could be used like a soundboard or just to mess with people.
2:35 That feels somewhat off considering 2016 games are Witcher 3, Doom, Uncharted 4, Overwatch, etc. Hell Paragon was also 2016 and Smite looks nothing like it. Smite more closely resembles a PS2 game at the end of that console's life cycle (Rather impressive for the system, but not for the times). I think it running on Switch at 60FPS with recording on says more about the game than it does the hardware its on.
One thing that I desperately hope that they fix in Smite 2 is the tutorial. Smite 1's tutorial is complete dogshit, and it's one of the main factors that prevents new players from getting into the game due to how brutal Smite's initial learning curve is.
The biggest problem by FAR right now in Smite for new players is the playtime cap on entering ranked queue. Even a half decent Elo system should filter bad/inexperienced players to the bottom so flatly just blocking everyone and telling even experienced MOBA players to go play 2-300hrs of gods they don't like will doubtlessly hurt player retention. It says a lot about the state of the dev team that their best idea for ranked matchmaking balance was to just timegate people while anyone who's ever played a MOBA knows with absolute certainty how little time helps people who are bad at the genre.
I don’t even pay attention to the skin I picked half of the time. I just want the game to feel good. Smite has a pretty special feel and as long as smite 2 keeps that with better graphics and gameplay I’ll be happy. Thanks for the vid.😊
I can confidently say, as I have never met anyone with more skins than I have (1740 currently) that losing skins for Smite 2 is a trade I'd take any day.
It's for sure gonna be sad to lose all my skins, but for me personally it doesn't really matter that much, because i just always bought like the newest skin for my few favorite gods and played with that one... So in Smite 2 the main thing for me will be that i gonna be able to play my favorite gods and eventually they will get new Skins anyway... And hey i will be able to buy them at a reduced price, thats nice for sure.
Dude I absolutely love my sons in game….. I like it when some gods have several skins that I like and I get to pick between them so it’s different every game…. But idgaf about that if it means I can play in ue5. I’m a positive person so as soon as I heard about smite two I was instantly happy. All in. The only reason I was sad about it was because it’s a whole year away from release…..
As someone who has spent way too much money on smite I always knew it could vanish at any moment. Thats just reality if you cant accept that you prob shouldn't buy cosmetics in any game.
A new player joins, sees like 140 gods and thinks "yeah fuck that" the learning curve is too great for a new player to wanna join, you have to somewhat understand what every gods abilities do to fight against them, and not to mention how crazy toxic EVERYBODY is on this game. New player joins, plays poorly (obviously, cuz they're new) gets roasted for it coz they don't understand the game yet then leave. I dunno maybe I'm wrong, I just feel like I've seen a pattern with people on this game
Issue Smite 2 will have that were Smite issues as well: 0. Hackers will probably still exist due to incompetence of the developers. 1. Servers will still be terrible and the game won't be able to compete with other MOBA's cause of that 2. Bugs and glitches will 100% will have the same severity just as in Smite 1 (this is due to poor programming skills which was the case in most scenarios in Smite 1) 3. Matchmaking won't be fixed even though there was a nice presentation of how they want to fix it so the only way to is to get more players which WON'T happen due to the two things up above that I mentioned. 4. Splitting the player base is a bit strange and not good in my opinion. This shows that Hi-Rez themselves don't believe in the project of Smite 2 and are a bit scared. The downside is that a lot of players will decide to stick with Smite 1 which will be players with older consoles which probably generate a lot of revenue and that is the only reason I see for splitting the player base. 5. I am quite certain that Hi-Rez won't listen to the community and will make the same mistakes with Smite 1 in a lot of aspects. The things I mentioned up above and most likely they will have competitive Smite for 2 years in different regions then will 100% combine it in a Pro League and do the same mistake, that's almost a guarantee in my opinion. 6. No skins transferred is kinda obvious cause they would need the revenue in order to sustain Smite 2. Also, the game is free to play so I was 100% sure there would be no skin transfers. Me personally I will get the legacy gems and all, but will wait to see how the game goes before putting any money in it. They could've at least transferred the Tier 5 skins that you own. 7. I hope they have better ideas for the game and skins cause it feels they would need to have great ideas. 8. Balancing of the game will remain poor. That is again almost certain because the same people will make the decisions for the game. Overpowered release characters, which will take months, may be even years to balance out, crazy metas where the characters will be loosing their identities and it will be more important what item you build (we saw that even in the Season X Worlds with Pele/Ymir, also there are a lot more cases like that, im just giving that example cause it's fresh and I don't wanna dive into it more), etc. 9. Cool features of the game they start will yet again remain unfinished or left partially functioning, or reverted, or left in the game full of glitches. 10. Unclear idea of what they want to do. So far they say Smite 2 is a sequel to Smite 1 and another game at the same time while splitting the player base in 2 games which basically shows a of fear that Smite 2 will work out. If they don't yet understand that Smite 2 has to succeed and that Hi-Rez need to put all their effort into it then my humble opinion is that it is... Well, let's say it succeeds because I really love the idea for the game, just not that much the implementation. Good things I see so far: 1. Better graphics 2. Better engine for sure and presumably easier to work with (it depends a lot on the effort they put in). Splitting the engineering team in two teams for Smite 1 and Smite 2 is definitely a mistake. 3. No more legacy code which I really hope they do well and follow best practices for software development or things might end up the same. 4. Fairly loyal community which without a doubt spend money on the game or at least play it. The game needs not only payers but the loyal non-paying players in order for them to succeed on their MATCHMAKING fix project. Also, the community is may be less toxic compared to other MOBAS. 5. A chance for a fresh start, may be change of management too cause there needs to be someone who makes the decisions on Product level unbiased and without the fear that 20 pro players might get mad at him in Twitter. There really needs to be someone new with fresh ideas, new and modern way of thinking. For example, I think it was Coca-Cola the company that doesn't allow people older than 21 to be in their marketing team (i might be wrong) in order to sell their product to new generations. Smite has it's uniqueness in terms of being the most popular third-person MOBA and it will be a shame if they bottle things up. (DONT BE LIKE ARSENAL!!!!) 6. I strongly suggest adding different lore Gods instead of pumping the same ones over and over again. Also, adding stuff like Bake and Martichoras made from interns 10 years ago cause they were probably focused on Smite 2 and wanted a quick releases without too much effort is not the way to do things. I really hope they don't get too away from the original concept of different pantheons. To sum it up I am excited for Smite 2 and I want them to do things better. It's just that this is Hi-Rez and you can't expect much so don't get your hopes up guys and everything good that comes with it you will embrace.
My issue for smite is the random lag I get during matches and not having a group of people to party up with, so I don't have to get random players who might respect others but mostly get those who will throw if they don't get the exact plays they believe, that should happen for them
Smite 1 is outdated. Menues are Clunky and it looks OLD, you can see it's age. It didn't have a future in its current state. Smite 2 is the only way to have Future! I am so happy it's happening
I was initially quite upset and ridiculed the design for Smite 2. In the light you provided I can see the need for the game to be rebooted. It's clear it's overall better for the game. Ive also changed my stance on the skins situation. It was stated most of the designs for the skins have to be recreated for UE5. Meaning it wasn't a simple import as I initially thought. These artists need to be paid for the recreation of the work. That being said, T5's and certain exclusive skins should absolutely be imported and free to anyone who purchased them.
Smite game has so much potential to be elite tier on Esports. But they need to design a better way to teach the game to new players to this genere. Newbs are so necessary to keep a game alive and sustainable for a long term.
Cloth physics is a Huge thing for me. especially if its third person. Already hyped. Hope they do a good job. I love mythology and ancient gods. There's no other moba that has them .
Something I am curious about, what is your thoughts on the item changes? Building and more. I would love to see your video on that. No one is talking on it and I really don't care for the skins. I want to see people talk about the item building update but no one bares to mention it which is odd since it's a huge overhaul.
"At some point you're skins would be gone anyway" thank you for saying that and making this video. With smites slow decline that quote is exactly what people need to hear. Smite 2 got me to reinstall Smite. I loved Smite at launch, but i never stuck to it as it felt like an old game on day 1. This is 100% the right move and I hope the fanbase dont let the game die over this
There are alot of hard press questions I have about the future of smite that I would like to ask without someone just shutting me down. I feel crazy for having differing issues on smites future because salty hi rez fans are just blindly backing them. I love smite and I think they did a great job and I am excited for smite 2 but from what I seen so far I have worries about the future.
I’m coming back to the game for smite 2. My main concern is that running smite 1 and 2 at the same time will split the fanbase and matchmaking won’t be all that much better because of a split player base playing 2 different games. I would like to see a strategy from Hi-Rez to fully transition to Smite 2 at some point or make it so undeniably better that no one wants to play smite 1. I could care less about the whole skin debate. I think what they are doing is pretty fair for a new game and even though I spent money on smite 1, I’ll like spend more on smite 2 for my love for the game.
Idk what this other comment is on about, but I'm pretty sure they've said all Smite 1 gods won't be in Smite 2 until 2026-2027. Smite 2 probably won't even be released till 2025 from what some of the higher ups and pros are saying. I suspect they'll stop updating Smite 1 once all the gods get transferred though. I'd be silly to stop supporting it now and make people lose their favorite gods for years
you call them "smite core fan base" I call them people who love MOBAs but can't play in isometric graphics. I really hope that with better code and much more visibility in the game, they could focus on the core game design reworking many aspects. currently, this game feels like an arcade game, I was really happy to hear they are attempting to fix the ranked system. In most competitive games the actual core players are the ones who are invested in ranked.
To be honest, I don't really care about how Smite 2 looks unless it impacts how the game runs on my setup. But I'm really hyped for the engine change and streamlined game code. As a person who doubled a bit in gamedev I can feel the dev's happiness for not having to fight against old and overly modified engine. The game needed it long time ago and finally has a chance to run and feel better.
i honestly run most settings at medium with exceptions like world/shadows lowest possible because all max is unnecessary stress, thermals and low fps and i'll probably lower particles too because of the visual clutter like chaac ult
@@ezecarol11 Same, I usually drop everything to medium/low to not worry about sudden fps drops, even if my setup is more than powerful to run a game, mostly because I usually have something running in background.
Smite is definitely one of the Big 3 in MOBAs but I feel like there's a massive gap of popularity between where League and Dota are at and where Smite is. Idk if it's still like this but the last time I played ranked, instead of having a queue timer that counts up and starts the match when enough people join, there's a rotating timer that counts down and only starts once that timer hits zero. I don't think I've ever seen that in another game? It shows how little faith they have in their population that they mask long queue times like that.
I think the skin issue, which is mostly on the Smite's subreddit (which tbf it's always been a clownshow) is really overblown. Most people understand why skins cannot be transferred. People who are saying the game is DOA because of the skin count being lowered, quite frankly, needs to get a grip. I also think people saying that the legacy system is "unfair" need to realize that ultimately TitanForge is for-profit and them offering you what essentially is a partial refund (maybe more when they actually recreate skins) loses them millions. I see people wanting a full refund, aka being able to use legacy gems on everything in Smite 2, and that is absurd. Not a singular company that wants to actually be a company would do that. 💀
My only issue with the skins is this, it's not too tall an ask to take some time to put the T5's in the 2nd iteration. It'd give the game a boat load of flair, and I think it's a shame to say none of them will transfer over when they are the ones that generated the most in game purchases. We bought them knowing they were digital goods and would be gone at any moment. So it's not unfair, but definitely something that would appease the player base without putting too much undue burden on the teams like transferring all skins would. My only caveat would be to release them over time, and give the new game a chance to shine on its own. But still get them into the game.
I completely agree with you on the skins. It's unreasonable to think they would be around forever. Plus, Hi-Rez had no obligation to compensate at all for skins/gems already bought, so criticize the new system all you want, but porting over 100% of bought/earned gems is MASSIVE even if you can only use them for 50% of a purchase. Big W Hi-Rez imo.
I stopped playing after switching to PC and not being able to bring my PS4 stuff. I'd gladly be playing today if I could get them. I really hope with Smite 2 we'll be able to transfer those legacy gems from PSN to PC
I didnt really care about the Vshojo event, but it brought in friends that live in that world and I was able to share a part of my world with them....for a bit. They all left afterwards because of everything said on the video. Also, imo, i think i would've rather get half of all my gems spent as legacy gems (full 100% refund with founders pass) with the option to buy everything with it not "50% off",but i get it, their method they still got cash coming in.
For me is more like "why force the players to upgrade their specs?" I live in a country where building a pc is as expensive as buying a car. And I don't think smite an keep up with only first world country players.
Its the dimmest thing I have ever seen and most of these comments are obviously from people that work at high rez. How disconnected can you be as a dev to think that the problem with your moba that people play on competitive settings is the graphics.
My biggest problem is the awful matching. I've played thousands of hours. I shouldn't be matched with people that just started playing that die 15+ times and have no idea how to build items. 75% of my games have one to two clueless new gamers. Making 75% nearly impossible to win. They also refuse to forfeit most of the time. This is a huge deterrent and why I have to take a mouth of two off sometimes.
So my question is, all of us long term players, are we just going to be snuffing everyone when this launches? I mean we will basically have the advantage over all of the influx of new people that will come to this game?
I doubt there will be a big influx of players. The game is a known quantity as is high rez. Realistically this is just going to be another failed project like dko with its 60 players. At best they are going to divide a already tiny player base. It is a travesty that they are calling this a sequel it is next level scummy. It shows how detached the devs are thinking that the graphics are what is wrong with the game people play on competitive settings.
@@Blueprint4Murder Because dipshits like the video poster think the graphics has anything to do with it. "The game looks like its from 2016" but yet saids he doesn't care about graphics. The game looks still good if its not going for a realistic approach.
To me, SMITE 2 can get big if : 1- They advertise it much much more - That was one of SMITE issue. They didn't talked about it for shit at the beggining in 2014 / 2015. 2- They build a competitive scene for real - the competitive scene is extremely important for a MOBA. Period. MOBA players are competitive and if you don't provide then you'll be stuck FAAAAR behind the two giants. 3- Matchmaking and servers - Goes in pair and link to the previous point. To get competitive players interested even before ranked match you need stable server and a solid matchmaking with rewarding MMR 4- For gahd damn sake Hi-Rez stop launching 54 projects aside of your games while your team is made 20 poeple. Focus your ressources. 5- Polish your products before focusing of delivering a million skins. The game need a modern, well design UI. A functionning tutorial to help newcomers get into it.
E.XACT.LY. Ugh, thank you for providing even more voice of reason. Good ramble. Louder for the ones in the back! Luckily, I think there's a sensible majority around now, and I've seen plenty of people who see this as a great, and necessary opportunity. I personally feel like I can't flippin wait!
The reason I stopped playing Smite was the monetization system and seeing it even worse in smite 2 only scare me away. I guess the biggest issue for me is that I need to buy this game just to see if it's any difference for me.
I played SMite for a little while, and I loved it. Played it for about a month straight. The issue I ran into that made me quit was match maker. I was a new player, but I've had years of experience with Leage of Legends. So I knew basics of wave manament, pushing for objectives, stuff like that. And not before long, I got matched against players *way* out of my league. Following a series of losses, I would get matched *with* players way out of my league. So my match history was just an alternating series of red blocks and blue blocks. At one point, I was playing and I got matched against the same 5-man premade group a couple of times in a row. And I said to myself, I'll try one more, but if I get matched like this again, I'm not touching the game ever again. And I got matched against *the same 5-man premde*. I left the match and haven't restarted the game ever since. The gameplay is fun, for sure, but matchmaking is a meta-component that I cannot live with. If I wanted a terrible experience playing against way better or weaker opponents, I'd just go back to LoL.
I played religiously back in like 2014-2015, I've since graduated high school, backpacked through Europe, finished college, started working in the software field, and also I'm a girl now. I think I'm finally ready to get back in to the game with Smite 2!
I’m super excited, we have needed this kind of refreshment in smite for a long time now, being someone with over 5000 hours and 6k dollars spent on smite I’m really happy for the change and can’t wait!
When people complain about the smite 2 skin situation, it makes me wonder how they'd feel if hirez went bankrupt and smite 1 died without a smite 2 ever existing. Like would they still complain about the choice they made to spend all that money on a live service game? I saw a person say "hirez made us buy these skins, and they're making us buy them again in smite 2", shows a lack of accountability and sense of entitlement, which sums up most of the gaming community to be honest. Personally, I love smite, and I like most of the staff at hirez too, they seem genuinely passionate about making the game better for the people who play the game. I also play Rainbow Six Siege, if you also play that game, you know how Ubisoft is currently treating it. The care that hirez puts into smite is not even comparable to the lack of care that ubisoft puts into Siege, they're in two different galaxies. And because of that I'm grateful that they're making the jump into Smite 2. It is not a cashgrab, its free, no one is forcing you to buy skins, voice packs are free now. VER VVX (You Rock, Cancel That)
How simple can you be there is no guarantee that smite two improves anything it will just as likely be a failed project like dko or any number of other recent projects. Chances are this kills both games by dividing a already tiny player base. Even if there is a short term gain this game still has the same horrible devs.
Long story short: A new Smite in a new engine means life is easier for the devs and they have new tools to play with. Effectively this should mildly increase quality, but dramatically increase the development cycle. They'll be able to get like 10 times the work done in the same amount of time due to the user-friendliness of the new engine.
Smite 2 HEAVILY needs a form of way to help new players understand how to even start playing the game. Something like a full send tutorial that basically babies you on how to play properly during all your games that can be toggled off once you’ve finally learned.
I'm excited, but one concern I have is the servers they will use. Will they actually go modern and use cloud based servers or will they stick to their antiques in Georgia? When it's a competitive game it's very frustrating trying to compete when there is only one server location and it's no where near you. Also when they were talking about fixing things during their play tests it was pretty clear they had Smite 2 running at a very low trick rate. That's disappointing when new competitive games are pushing for higher and higher tick rates or even going "tickless" like CS2.
I've been playing smite since it's release on ps3 And yeah, your statement at 4:45 is correct XD The details in smite 2 are cool and all~ But, Good graphics don't make a good game, It still comes down to the gameplay and mechanics of Smite 2, which is identical to the original smite (obviously) so they could release this thing in 2d for all I care, still going to be a good game. The better graphics is just an added bonus I suppose.
I have been playing Destiny 2 regularly since its launch in 2017. The game has been severely bottlenecked for years because of how poor the engine is. It even caused the base game, 3 dlcs, and $40 worth of extra content to be deleted. I am so glad Smite 2 is taking the route of not going half ass with the engine upgrades. It will suck to lose some of my skins, but the potential the game now has is amazing. The easier it is for the devs, the better quality product we will get. Issues can be found and fixed so much quicker. It’s a miracle Smite plays and runs as well as it does on UE3. I can only imagine what they can do in UE5 with the insane kits and effects they have made in UE3.
Thanks for your prospective on smite 2. I was a little sad when i had heard that tier 5 skins were not going transfer before blowing a hundred on the skin and the event skins. But i do agree with you now. You completely changed my mind. Just as long as they don't nerf anubis ill be fine.
Im currently downloading smite and im hype af for smite 2. I had a falling put with my team back in season 8 and I haven't picked it up since. Convinced my league friends to hop over when smite 2 comes out so I need to get ready!
Curious to see how Smite2 stacks up against upcoming competitors such as Predecessor (Paragon remake) and Ethereal Clash of Souls (new 6v6 moba experience). Been playing smite for several years now and I love game. But some of the newer mobas coming out have a feature in the game that just can't be overlooked for modern gaming now, and that is access to verticality for terrain and travel, aiming, and attacking. It just adds a much more needed dynamic feel imo. Hopefully Smite2 does well. Looking forward to seeing the game grow to greater potentials, but whether I play right out the gate will honestly depend on the starting/early roster. Support main here and if I don't see Geb or Maui or Atlas or Athena then most likely I'll be on other games until then unfortunately. But glhf to everyone else! ❤ Also, I pray HiRez keeps those fun game mechanics in Smite2 that we've seen in conquest such as the releasing of the Titans, more objective control points, and especially that new teleporting system from one side of the map to the other :)
When i spoke to FineOkay on his stream he gave me his opinions on the matter and pretty much convinced me with her said the engine for smite 1 was from 2006, its not supported or taught how to work anymore. So finding new employees that can actually work it is damn near impossible, not to mention smite 1 is a HEAVILY modded version of UE3 that has been stretched out for years now and year. I suddenly dont care about my skins not being ported, this change needed to happen.
The smaller god pool should be better for new players. Since knowing God abilities is important when playing with and against. The hope for me is that as they release the gods, they investigate and do minor reworks to the ones that need it most.
I'm glad Smite 2 will be released for cleaner game play. I don't think graphics have ever been a setback for me. Like many others I play on lower graphics to simply see what I need to see. Similar to the WoW and SC2 player base. Smite is underappreciated. The team working with that engine to give us what we have is wild lol
Im glad to have smite 2 on the way, having to deal with that spaghetti code was frustrating. If i tap to use my relic or abilities they should just work
Losing the skins that I’ve gotten over all the years and spent money on, is really sad. But honestly I’m still excited for smite 2. They better have a ton of game modes ready for the small selection of gods.
My personal take on smite 2 is I played smite like 9 or 10 years ago... Was never able to bring and convert my friends from league to Smite (back then i guess i needed my friends for everything lol), and in a short time, because of that, i lost my interest in the game (The fact that back then league of legends was in their golden year didnt help) 10 years pass... In a blink of an eye... Me and some of my friends(Old gaming core group) decided to come back to League for the nostalgia of "the good old times"(didnt played the game during 6 years) and we had a blast of a time together. By playing league (a moba).. .Got a reminded of another incredible moba that i liked a lot and felt sorry to no play that much back then, decided to come back and try it again!!! Downloaded it!!! Opened it! Played an arena match, closed the game and unnistalled it a couple of weeks later. The game just didnt age that well for me unfortunately After watching the news that a smite 2 was coming, with better visuals and a overall modernized experience i got really happy and excited I can say that i will 100% try the game again and hope to stay for long time I know that im not alone in this and a lot of people feel the same as i do, Smite2 will be crucial to bring both new and returning players like myself to the game
I personally think the visuals will be better and all of that but as a "veteran" what I want more is the new changes they made to items, relics, matchmaking, new abilities or reworks(some gods need it like aracne if i had to say never was a fun of that) and most importantly I wanna see combat blink 😊😊
I hope more effort is put into making your profile customizable and the ability to easily search up others in the community. I love the little parts of social aspects of a game, and I would love to be able to easily view my teammates' and friends' profiles to see how they're doing. Also, I was never in a clan, but make clans a thing again!
I downloaded smote so fast to brush up on my game lol
This is so true, something we just never thought about is how good the game looks and feels, being made in an 18 year old engine. It's like comparing Toy Story 1 and 4 in terms of visuals!
I hope smite 2 release in mobile too
Imagine the player base they can gather..CODM is successful in mobile why not SMITE?
League of legends fail because of their ego...long ago before Mobile legends created people beg riot games to have a mobile version 😂...sucks for them .. their too late
To have a strong player base here in asia
SMITE 2 know how to upgrade 🎉🎉
Smite 2 needs a rewards system that teaches new players how to play, build & about the game and its mechanics. There's none of that apart from youtube. And it makes new players leave just as fast as they came. This system should be borderline forced, because most ppl would just skip or skim through, but forced in a manner that is rewarding
True asf. This is my first moba and ive been struggling like hell to learn how to play conguest

@keyless3994 Yep, best advice I could give is find a buddy patient enough who's a smite veteran, binge some youtube videos, don't play scared and send it man!
All the game need is functional skill based matchmaking
issue is having a smite veteran though, the smite discord is impossible to find people to play with at least in my experience so i just play solo all the time. which honestly sucks. @@MrWEST1

My friend whos new to smite is very excited for smite 2 because the cast is smaller. Smite one has a huge cast but in smite 2 starting out with a small pool means he can learn the gods quicker and not be so overwhelmed
me too! I'm looking forward to starting out on the same field as everyone else.
That alone wont magically fix core issues the game and community had for last 7 years tho
@@GamingDualitiesyeah the heads are still gonna care about skin money more than balance but on UE5 patches can happen literally 7x faster if not more since the code won’t suck ass
Sky is still the limit with UE3 as well, you know mortal kombat 11 was UE3?
Sure of course 5 has newer features than 3. But it's really what you put in the time to do with it.
@@Snagavitch patches happen just as fast regardless. That has nothing to do with the engine itself.
I suspect that's exactly what's going to happen. I actually hope so. We just really gotta give S2 a good foothold.
I think they are trying to make people move from smite gradually, since not everyone have a good pc either, discontinuing smite would mean that a part of an already small playerbase would be unable to play smite
There are two outcomes of this. Smite two is doa, or smite 1 and all players skins die which probably kills the player base anyway.
@@Blueprint4Murderahahaha no option where is thrives and blows up or does extremely well?
@mvcfitz33 yeah our current players are loose cannons that I definitely agree with
Yeah i just got cussed out by a carry that went 1-13 player base is super toxic lol

Considering other U5 made games as well as the fact that spaghetti code is no more and there will be only 50 gods on release I'd guess between 60-90 giggs, I know that's a pretty big range but it really depends on how well optimized and efficiently ran the game is

Thats just reality if you cant accept that you prob shouldn't buy cosmetics in any game.
guessing we won’t be able to transfer over our cosmetics from the original …
A new player joins, sees like 140 gods and thinks "yeah fuck that" the learning curve is too great for a new player to wanna join, you have to somewhat understand what every gods abilities do to fight against them, and not to mention how crazy toxic EVERYBODY is on this game. New player joins, plays poorly (obviously, cuz they're new) gets roasted for it coz they don't understand the game yet then leave.
I dunno maybe I'm wrong, I just feel like I've seen a pattern with people on this game
That's literally every MOBA
Issue Smite 2 will have that were Smite issues as well:
0. Hackers will probably still exist due to incompetence of the developers.
1. Servers will still be terrible and the game won't be able to compete with other MOBA's cause of that
2. Bugs and glitches will 100% will have the same severity just as in Smite 1 (this is due to poor programming skills which was the case in most scenarios in Smite 1)
Good things I see so far:
1. Better graphics
(DONT BE LIKE ARSENAL!!!!)
My issue for smite is the random lag I get during matches and not having a group of people to party up with, so I don't have to get random players who might respect others but mostly get those who will throw if they don't get the exact plays they believe, that should happen for them
You get random lag? That honestly might not be smite lol
@@itstroy4145 The server do randomly shit themselves at times.
@@MattR8605 that’s rare though lmao it doesn’t happen all the time
Smite 1 is outdated. Menues are Clunky and it looks OLD, you can see it's age. It didn't have a future in its current state.
Smite 2 is the only way to have Future!
I am so happy it's happening
Will be look like predecessor interms of vertically? Or is it just a better version on smite, like improved visual/graphic
I never thought smite graphics were bad I thought it was more of a style choice
Nah even by stylistic standards they are pretty bad.
Overwatch 2 has a stylized aesthetic and it looks way better
Smite also had some of the best designed skins even on UE3, I can only imagine what the first T5 in Smite 2 will be like
"At some point you're skins would be gone anyway" thank you for saying that and making this video. With smites slow decline that quote is exactly what people need to hear. Smite 2 got me to reinstall Smite. I loved Smite at launch, but i never stuck to it as it felt like an old game on day 1. This is 100% the right move and I hope the fanbase dont let the game die over this
Your comment about the differences between UI3 and UI5 made me feel optimistic about smite 2.
I'm simplify it even more. So the game stops crashing on console for no fucking reason
I'm sure they intend to deep six smite 1 once all the gods are ported mid 2025
Idk what this other comment is on about, but I'm pretty sure they've said all Smite 1 gods won't be in Smite 2 until 2026-2027. Smite 2 probably won't even be released till 2025 from what some of the higher ups and pros are saying. I suspect they'll stop updating Smite 1 once all the gods get transferred though. I'd be silly to stop supporting it now and make people lose their favorite gods for years
The question we all want to know for Smite 2 still remains, can you still 2 into 180 Blink with Herc?
you call them "smite core fan base" I call them people who love MOBAs but can't play in isometric graphics.
Yes I to am excited for the "streamlined game code" fellow average player. lmao
damn you never run out of tears do you@@Blueprint4Murder
i honestly run most settings at medium with exceptions like world/shadows lowest possible because all max is unnecessary stress, thermals and low fps and i'll probably lower particles too because of the visual clutter like chaac ult
@@ezecarol11 Same, I usually drop everything to medium/low to not worry about sudden fps drops, even if my setup is more than powerful to run a game, mostly because I usually have something running in background.
This video making me realize im not much older than the Smite engine. We definitely need that sequel 😅
It's clear we needed something fresh, new gods wont attract people, we needed something completely new. I just hope we get our tier 5s in smkte 2
Is it me or is there more players feels like I'm getting overall balanced games instead of 3 good players and 2 trash ones on teams
Honestly just the announcement of 2 got me playing 1 again
My only issue with the skins is this, it's not too tall an ask to take some time to put the T5's in the 2nd iteration. It'd give the game a boat load of flair, and I think it's a shame to say none of them will transfer over when they are the ones that generated the most in game purchases. We bought them knowing they were digital goods and would be gone at any moment. So it's not unfair, but definitely something that would appease the player base without putting too much undue burden on the teams like transferring all skins would.
My only caveat would be to release them over time, and give the new game a chance to shine on its own. But still get them into the game.
How exactly does masteries and account level transfer?
I cant believe its been so long that 2016 is considered old
well it depends on the context really. In the context of technology then 7-8 years is a very long time for sure.
Are there any plans to make hills or similar terrain features? Or is the map just going to be a flat plain again?
I completely agree with you on the skins. It's unreasonable to think they would be around forever. Plus, Hi-Rez had no obligation to compensate at all for skins/gems already bought, so criticize the new system all you want, but porting over 100% of bought/earned gems is MASSIVE even if you can only use them for 50% of a purchase. Big W Hi-Rez imo.
Ok but they could at least put all the t5 skins in the game since people have spent so much on them
I stopped playing after switching to PC and not being able to bring my PS4 stuff.
For me is more like "why force the players to upgrade their specs?"
I live in a country where building a pc is as expensive as buying a car.
Sounds like it was me and my friend 😂😂 It sucks it never reset my mmr from 5 yrs agi
Which can only improve if player count is higher
To me, SMITE 2 can get big if :
1- They advertise it much much more - That was one of SMITE issue.
To get competitive players interested even before ranked match you need stable server and a solid matchmaking with rewarding MMR
4- For gahd damn sake Hi-Rez stop launching 54 projects aside of your games while your team is made 20 poeple.
If you want new players to stick around, the games tutorial needs to be 100x than it is now.
The game isn't easy to learn
I also hope Smite is more new player friendly.
A MOBA is never going to be new player friendly
The first version of Odin was so cool. I wish they brought that model back as a skin
Coming to terms with losing the T5 skins is a bit rough. But in order to have a better game experience it needs to happen.
It’s so wack that it’s literally not necessary they could do it but just are choosing not to😒
@@ExclusiveExcellence they already gave the reason why it’s just not optimal. So it’s best to just say ok and move on. Sucks though
@@ExclusiveExcellence 2 years from now smite 3 after they resell you guys the ip skins.
I've been playing smite since it's release on ps3
And yeah, your statement at 4:45 is correct XD
The details in smite 2 are cool and all~
But, Good graphics don't make a good game, It still comes down to the gameplay and mechanics of Smite 2, which is identical to the original smite (obviously) so they could release this thing in 2d for all I care, still going to be a good game.
Also, I pray HiRez keeps those fun game mechanics in Smite2 that we've seen in conquest such as the releasing of the Titans, more objective control points, and especially that new teleporting system from one side of the map to the other :)
Never Played Smite. Always thought of starting on it. This video pulled me in instantly! Great video!
Idk if it's just me but I think we need a better smite beginner tutorial. New players thrown into conquest might get hard for new players
My personal take on smite 2 is
I played smite like 9 or 10 years ago...
Was never able to bring and convert my friends from league to Smite (back then i guess i needed my friends for everything lol), and in a short time, because of that, i lost my interest in the game
(The fact that back then league of legends was in their golden year didnt help)
10 years pass...
The game just didnt age that well for me unfortunately
After watching the news that a smite 2 was coming, with better visuals and a overall modernized experience i got really happy and excited
I can say that i will 100% try the game again and hope to stay for long time
I know that im not alone in this and a lot of people feel the same as i do, Smite2 will be crucial to bring both new and returning players like myself to the game
As long as the marketing budget is $5 and a Dr Pepper, Smite is gonna fail
I hope the game will preform at consistent 60 fps on ps5 I don't really care about the graphics
