    I just bought a mint 1997 Mark VIII LSC. Black on black with only 30K original miles, I'm the second owner from new. I already lowered it and added 18" Vision wheels. I love it and it rides so nice. I've also had a pro-charged 03 Mach 1 that made 415 to the wheels on the dyno and a 2003 Marauder that was bone stock. I've had good luck with these 32 valve engines. My buddy has a 2016 Camaro SS and he was really impressed how strong the LSC felt. Can't wait to see what you guy do with this car. PS, please don't put an LS in it!

    When the Intech/4 valve mod motors came out, they had a habit of scattering cranks under boost and traction conditions. That's why the 03/04 cars had such overbuilt bottom ends. The teksid blocks are strong, but not when the cast crank and rods decide to take a siesta out the side.

  • @benruether8294
    @benruether8294 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's always snapped rods or spun bearings on 91 to 04 mod motors. Breath a little boost on them and pop goes the weasel. I still love them, but Chevy did powdered metal rods with great success on their first try. And I'm a Cobra owner saying this.

If you want to continue building a 4V 4.6, get 3rd gen Coyote rods and pistons. The crank seems to be ok up to 500hp or so. Also Livernoise valve springs should be solid and 100% get Felpro gaskets! That's probably the cheapest way to make reliable power.

    My vote is to find an engine out of a junkyard, preferably from a tuned Mustang that got forged connecting rods, then slap a turbo on it and run E85. You'll probably have to change the fuel lines, injectors, and fuel pump to prevent the ethanol from eating the gaskets, but it'll definitely help with pre-ignition. Another option that would be a pain in the ass, because I doubt anyone makes a harness adapter for it and nobody in the shop will ever want to bother extracting and then transferring the engine harness and controller for it, but the 3.5L Ecoboost V6 that Ford makes is ludicrously capable. Like, you can take anything with that engine, add in a mod chip to trick the boost controller, and make over 400HP with little effort. And it'll still run on pump gas. But it's a pain in the ass to implement and nobody wants to bother, because there's too much modern tech on that engine so you can't just toss it in and expect it to work. Definitely not as simple as an LS swap. There are companies that have pre-made engine harnesses for cars that are commonly LS-swapped.

      Different 4.6, these Lincoln’s have the dohc 4 valve while the Vic’s have the sohc 2 valve. Same with the mustang cobra vs the Gt. The 4 valves make more power but have a different set of issues than the 2 valve. The bottom end in this video is the full aluminum one that only comes in the 93-97 marks. 2 valve bottom ends are usually iron blocks which could be an option for this boosted application. I ran 17lbs of boost in my Lightning once…… anyways all 2v or 4v 4.6 rwd engines blocks are the same. Good thing is the coyote rods will work in the older modular 4.6. And depending on year they should take 600rwhp with ease. Also the teksid block is what you want for 4 figure hp.

    Good work, good test, you found "a" limit. Really good top limit for the money.

    6.2 out of a raptor would be crazy. Then obviously twin turbo it. But finding one out of a trashed raptor would be tough to find.

    These 4v motors don't usually have timing issues, but the rods do eject under higher power levels.

      4 valves can blow the secondary timing chains and such like these guys were saying but that’s only under heavy limiter use. All mod motors tend to have fragile rods except the newer coyotes so it would be a good upgrade to put coyote rods in with the stock bottom end.

    The Mark motors definetly need some ring gap to handle much boost long term. My Mark has been runningon a 125 shot for years.
