    This feedback is important. This is just the first cycle and it's a totally new system that has to be tested and retested to balance it properly. I am sure that EHG will address all of these issues and update the system until it is really good.

      I'm not going to speak for the devs like that, but I'd be surprised if they didn't do something to change it. The market is entirely ruined by the current system locking players out from trading until they've dropped like 50 hours into the game.
      There were LP1 items going for half the price of LP0 items.
      This is also what made all the streamers/no lifers get LP3 and LP4 uniques for 0 gold, because new players were just selling those for nothing to try and get more favor.

      bro, please. Even I could foresee most of those problems in this trade bs. Devs could at least TRY to check how trade in PoE works. No, this cope sh*t about "oooh, it is just their first try(((" is equals to self-lying. Stop coping - the game is far from its real "release" state even in its current amount of content (unfinished story mode, guilds and late "game"). This grand "AAAs are not needed" experiment kind of failed. There is still a huge need in fonds for such big projects, even considering all those free ads that top streamers gave them.

    Clearly there are many places where the UI could be improved, and some balancing of the ranks. I would be amazed if EHG weren't already working on a bunch of those types of improvements. But I really hope they don't cave too far and encourage the market-mogul style of gameplay where there's an incentive to sit in market all day min-maxing your price checks and reselling items instead of killing mobs. The MG is already the easiest way to get specific gear to fully enable any build you want; it doesn't need to get even easier. A few tweaks and balance passes are all the MG needs. Signed, happy CoF player.

    • @MrNaptyme
      @MrNaptyme 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @bearY0 I would say that's a pretty dramatic take. There really are only 2 issues with MG. One is having too many vendors, selling items is a PiTA having to go check each vendor when selling multiple items. The second is the long grind up the ranks screwing up the market. Those are 2 easily fixed issues. Even with those issues, it is still far and away better than CoF IMO.

    I can totally understand the frustrations you presented with the system, but your suggestion of removing restrictions doesn't just solve problems it also creates them. You yourself said that you got all your basic unique gear straight away and mostly for free. Something that can take a very long time on CoF.(I've been farming for days and still only have two of the uniques that I need) Removing restrictions will only make this problem worse. Another problem is that the top end items would become too easy to obtain. Just imagine being able to buy an item off the market that's near impossible to farm with CoF. I really think you are overestimating the power of CoF here. Yes you get a lot of good drops, but the vast majority are not for your build. The fact that you could buy items at rank 3 that I'm still farming for is insane.
    The real solution here would be a more balanced approach. Make the early MG experience much much harder to make sure people aren't getting their endgame gear straight away and skipping the upgrade path. Remove the frustrations from the trade search system. Add restrictions to the top-end items to make them roughly as hard to obtain on MG as on CoF.

    Yes the features in the Merchant's guild need a lot of work for ease of use. With that said I still love the idea of it because I look at trading as End Game. I think this format to trade is really unique so I enjoy it. I've sold a few really nice items for 1 mil gold each that had high tier skills and have cleaned out my inventory several times and been selling everything even Idols. You definitely have to be in the mood for it and usually when I'm finished playing for the day I'll spend time selling and buying. I really like buying Exalts and testing my luck crafting and have gotten some serious upgrades.

      If it just let you trade whatever you want at faction level 1, a lot of the issues would be fixed. That alone completely ruined the market for quite awhile.

    • @WhatIfTheories
      @WhatIfTheories 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SuperCatacata I don't agree with full trade at level 1. I do think this is the best trading system put into an ARPG. I think the favor system is a highlight of it.
      The market isn't even close to ruined because of how it was brilliantly set up. People have sold items for cheap to gain favor that's okay though cause those items are "Removed" from the economy. Many items are bricked in crafting and thrown out also can't be flipped or traded again.

  • @ToastedSynapseGaming
    @ToastedSynapseGaming 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I made a suggestion involving adding a new system/number into the mix that we can call "influence" that can replace the Rank Requirement for buying completely. Favor and Reputation will still be there in parallel, but now we have this new 3rd thing.
    Influence would work like a thermometer and would have a max cap that will be going up as you get reputation and increase in Rank.
    Let's say you start with 200 influence cap at Rank 1. A rare item will require (and spend) exactly 200 influence, meaning that you can only buy 1 before you have to go out and earn more influence again. Uniques will cost 1000 influence and therefore, you can't even buy them at rank 1, because your cap isn't high enough (it doesn't fit in that thermometer).
    When you get at the appropriate Rank, let's say you have 1000 influence. Well now you can buy Just One Unique, or 5 Rares (given my example).
    Then you have to farm more. I'm assuming the same way you farm favor, but maybe even through some quests that they could add to an NPC, similar to how the CoF Prophecies feel like quests you can pick because you were planing to do that content anyway.
    How is this different than gating uniques behind a Rank if you will be gated behind a max influence cap? Well because you make it so that the equivalent of Rank 8 will fall around Rank 6 in this new system (when it comes to time invested to get there), with the only caveat being that you can't buy 5 items in one go to fully gear your character. And by the time you farm more influence and buy more items one by one you will be getting closer to that Rank 8 in the old system.
    What do you think?
    Obviously these were just random numbers as examples. Riguros testing needed, but I think it solves a lot of problems while giving MG players a more organic feeling of growth and like mom telling you you can have a toy, but just one for now. You have to make choices if that unique is worth more for you now than 2 Rares.

  • @ToastedSynapseGaming
    @ToastedSynapseGaming 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    They definitely need to make improvements, but for half the problems there's a workaround.
    You can have your inventory open when you talk to the NPC. And you can click the more button to search while your inv is open.
    You can also switch the view of the items to be List, instead of Grid if you prefer it that way. So you'll have all the items on the left and you hover your mouse over them, having the stat you want to check ("movement speed" in your case) pretty much in the same visual space so it's easier for your eyes than going left-right.
    It also fits more items.
    Hope this helps players.

    Merchant guild should be allowed to trade everything to everyone and to give gear to people.

    I love trading, but making the experience frustrating is just a big nono. They should just learn from poe how to make a good search filter. Searching/UI should NEVER be a place for friction. Trading is one of the the best parts of most of the games I like to play, but in LE i'm just playing COF... I really hope they fix trading so that I can come back to play more cycles (unlikely, if I can't trade).

    i Started COF and played Blademaster for 120h and run like 100 Echos on 300+ and pushed all Monoliths to 300+
    I didn't find shit I needed with LP so I switched to Trade Guild The prices are totally over the top not to say retarded.. We talk about items gold asked for 400m 200m 800m
    I was lucky to sell 1 Items for 18m so I had some small budgeted to play around and get me LP1 and LP 2 Items to then I need to still upgrade them and get the wrong stats.
    Both systems are crap to me that's why I stoped playing for the last 3 weeks or so

    Dude, just learn all meta builds and you do not need price check at all :) MG is so good imho, I just got 2 red rings ez pz 10mil. Also you can get ez 1-2 lp slams for most uniques that your build need with almost 0 time spent. Searching system need some upgrades, that is true... but still it is very satisfying for me to log in and grab 1-5 millions from my sales =) Also I got rank 10 almost with lvl 100... so no problem with buying legendary stuff. Aaaand sometimes you can snipe some cheap 3-4 lp stuff =)

    CoF is great for exalteds and everything. But I think you overstate how good it is for lp uniques. Going through my 14 stash tabs of LP uniques 80% are not flagged as CoF which means it did not proc anything inside it. Currently rank 9 and anything above 8 feels useless. Free trash sets. Or free duplicated items from prophecies which just means more 0 LP uniques that get left on the floor. I think both guilds kinda need a rework. Maybe 9 and 10 in CoF is chance for 2 LP and 3 lp. But both guilds feel like you hit a wall in gearing.

  • @Despond

    They messed up making COF so easy. Might as well make it all SSF at this point. A great way to segment a community. SSF should purely be exactly that, not bonuses to anything just a gameplay mode. You should also lose your stash and items like it was originally intended. It also doesn't help their AH/trade system is so cumbersome and appalling not even having basic filter search options and any QOL you would expect. Truly a backwards AH/trading system that makes you frustrated having no flexibility or freedom. COF is a loot explosion mode.

    People who downvoted this video have probably never actually done any interesting listing and can't understand how bad it actually is to sell/buy.
    Sure its great if you want to list your dogshit common no LP Unique , but the further you go, the more impressive an item is, the more frustrating it is to buy/sell other than just getting lucky since people list expensive items cheap because they can't be bothered to deal with the frustration.
    I would play Merchant then switch to COF but unfortunately if you buy Merchant items, it brands them as Merchant guild obtained, so If you want to switch to COF you would have to buy from Merchant > Farm every single item again > switch to COF. It kind of sucks.

    I disagree, I've never been so geared so quickly. Early on a rare with 4 good affixes for your build will 100% be better than a random exalted that you've dropped with 1 t7 affix that is good for your build and 3 lacklustre ones. And as you rank up you can start to buy specific exalted items, or unique items with high LP.
    I will agree that the UI could be a lot better but I cannot see how "search for as close to the exact item I want for my build and buy it for 0 gold" is worse than whatever COF offers.

  • @georgewillow112
    @georgewillow112 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I tried it for a bit but the UI seemed overwhelmingly confusing, as you said, as if it was made for a mobile/console port... Also I never found good enough items that'd be valuable enough to sell, or maybe I just havent realized I had a valuable enough item that I could sell.
    I cant believe I would ever say this, but I miss PoE's website search. At least you can search for the majority (not everything) of things in the game with relative ease and you can filter for every small detail. Compared to that, the MG in LE is extremely subpar, barely functional at best and very restrictive with all the rankings and favor grinding and reputation.
    I went CoF and I'm loving the game even more now, feels amazing.

    I don't know man. I mean, I agree with some of your points (especially the search being still a bit clunky and not beingle able to search for specific affixes on unique gear). But overall, I'm having a great time with the merchants guild, and it's so satisfying to find good items and sell them for a lot of money, and then with that money t buy items that I couldn't find myself in a million years. I'm lvl 100, max level on the merchant guild, and every day I'm buying and selling stuff, and I really enjoy it, basically 99% of my gear comes from trading (and actually I'm playing with friends who are in the cof, and I constantly hear them complaining about not being able to find what they need for the build they do, and I'm kind of like: "uh, there's one of those for free in the market, too bad you can't buy it..."😊

  • @StretfordEndGaz
    @StretfordEndGaz 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    ye i agree on most of these, i do the same as you in terms of listing, i generally do 10-35k for ltos of things, but if they have + skills i do 50-100k then if its they purp and t7 etc i do check if they have good basic stats
    I think your missing a valuable point in all this, ALTS - the market is primarily designed with alts in mind, consider myself, i am now on my 5th toon, having the market open means i can bascially kit them out without farming that lp3 or 4 item having to find specific items that dont drop - ie im playing mage atm and needed the chance to apply spark on IDOL - needless to say as never having played mage on any other toon i had 0 in my bank, but pop over to AH and i bought 5 for combined about 10k immediately changes my alts build and no need to farm.
    Im not hard player , yes i play a lot but not like some and im rank 8 its not hard to get to that, for instance your best to gamble with your favour as your earn more rank (or did ) but still its not hard to get rank, yes it gets a slog from 8 onwards, but thats to be expected.
    Now, could the items and ranks they sit in be better 100% yes... the search is crap, the UI in general is crap, but we are talking 1.0 wihout this EVER been in game before.

    Everything about LE's design philosophy and development decisions reflects their dev team's desire for a solo game. They put in the most slapdash trade system possible and added all sorts of barriers to make it even worse. They say that they want people playing the game and not sitting around trading, but you spend more time listing items in the MG than you do playing because of the absolutely terrible interface. Meanwhile, CoF has all sorts of bells and whistles. Players are just being unsubtly 'encouraged' to go CoF by being made miserable with MG. Knowing the development history and community of LE, every person who converts from MG to CoF is a win in their eyes. They never wanted MG in the first place and they clearly still don't want it.
    Above all else, it's this attitude that the devs and community have that sours everything. The community is an echo chamber that arbitrarily tries to shout down any criticism and the devs are pretty two-faced. They claim to want to make the best game possible, but the 'best' part is very clearly pinned to their solo vision for the game. They don't want to make a good game that will thrive over the years - they want to make *their* game and seem to be plugging their ears when any criticism that might nudge them away from their vision comes along.
    LE is probably worth about 100 hours of playtime, which I suppose is fine for its price point, but it's not very satisfying for an ARPG. The endgame gets old fast and the devs bludgeon players over the head trying to get them to play the game as they envisioned it. As a long-term entry in the ARPG genre, it's shaping up to be a game that's just waiting to have its market share ripped away by a development studio that's actually interested in making a game that's fun for as many of its players as possible.

    problem is, gold has 0 value in this game.. what can you buy with gold? you can gamble for hours and maybe get unique you want with guaranteed 0 lp, or buy stash tabs. Thats all. Even fixing all the problems wouldnt fix this one, path of exile has economy, currency is currency because its scarce and useful, even the most common items have its price because someone has to take time to trade them. In LE trading doesnt consume much time (other than putting the item on the market) gold is just gonna ramp up, noone gonna spent it and we gonna have basic items for 100 million gold in week from now.

    I was CoF all the way until I burned out on doing dungeons. Levelled from 94 to 95 inside soulfire bastion and realised that if i wanted the items for the build i was derping with I had to either pause pushing corruption until i got atleast decent lp hits, so i figured i would swap to merchants guild instead - and boy oh boy the ui is perhaps the worst i've ever seen. My initial reaction was that the bazaar layout and ui was how trading would look in d4, uneccessary movement between npcs, Check; unecessary fullscreen windows, Check; unecessary convoluted menus, Check - the same issue as always, whenever ui's are designed to work cross platform we get this fullscreen menace.
    I decided to instead take a break, and make sure that next time im playing that i play huge attention to whether my build wants alot of dungeon specific uniques and go Merchants guild, because until there is bonuses to drops in dungeons beyond lp chance and some difficulty scaling akin to corruption I'm not doing dungeons spamming again, its so boring compared to monos.

    Open trading. Keep everyone in the same game. Diablo 2 has open trading and is still going strong after 25+ years. You don't have to trade if you don't want to. SSF is still very doable. Everyone has the same chances of finding any item.

  • @mediumQQ
    @mediumQQ 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Agree with that analysis, Merchant is an illusion, it feels good at the beginning, you effectively start earning a few milions of gold, good items you still have from drop because youre not yet at the end game, and you are able to easily boost eq by finding the exact items you may use for a fair price......until the end game, when you hit the barrier that is lower that for COF players. You cant buy a lot of good gear that easily as COF can drop and modify it. Prices of end game gear are really expensive so the grind here is different than in COF. You know you dont have any drop boosts(prophecies), you just have hope to drop anything that you can sell for a milion or so, to collect money for the item you want. At least with COF they get that psychological treat of getting constant drops and dopamine spikes with multiple LP items. In merchants at end game, gameplay is getting quite poor like there is no reason to farm monoliths

  • @IcelandKenshi
    @IcelandKenshi 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    not reading comments.. so some1 might have put out there the idea.. but~ I feel they probably should have a system that calculate for you the price of the item. you as a player don't really place the gold cost, rather the system takes into consideration all the modifiers and gives you a number that should be its base price, and you can't go under that.
    with time, the system would learn that modifiers are those that players gravitate to, and that would update the system (id say every 1 week there would be an AH prized update). at the start of a season all modifiers would start at a base 100% prize (whatever that cost would be).. and then the % can go higher or lower based on what are players looking for on that equipment.
    this system would also take into consideration the rolls on an item (high and low rolls on a T7 as an example)
    this would remove the need to price check every time, it would force players to never sell at 0 gold.. as it is not useful to the system and probably some more pros and cons
    i think that the system should probably insert random items into the AH. if there is a low number of a specific item (no1 is selling) then inserting it into the system might possibly alleviate the drought feeling. these items would always come with lowest rolls in all modifiers.
    as a last idea, items bought from the AH should be able to "evolve". for example, a unique item should have the potential to gain a number of legendary potential when placed into the AH. the players themselves would not neceserally see it or if they do, if they removed it from the AH it would revert to the previous state. This idea would make the AH more alluring in the sense that selling items you find are always the best option, but your personal upgrades will always come from the AH. with items having the potential to be LP2-4 more easily on there people would hopefully place more items in there, to gain gold, and then look for there own items they need at a higher LP then what they can find out there in the wild.
    high LP items make sense to be rare (or even impossible) for the AH to find in the wild, but making them grow in power after entering the AH makes for an interesting relationship between players.

    This might be a hot take but I'm glad Merchants Guild is weak. I think having a first time economy be too easily accessible for high tier loot might be a bad first impression and minimize any kind of advancement for an ARPG where the loot is the point of the game. I do think it isn't tuned correctly and needs some refinements. I'm very glad you made this video and I hope that EHG sees this. I am running MG on my first character and want to grind out to the highest level. I don't interact with it much but I like being able to acquire loot to play with the crafting systems without spending a lot of time grinding for gear to try. Thank you for the honest video, and even though I agree with your points I think MG has potential given enough people are willing to stick out the rep grind.

When I first saw the choices, I immediately thought "there's no way I'm going to pigeonhole my progression on the greed of other people". We live in a world ruled by, mostly, corporate greed but by greed in general as sad as it is to say. If you've played any game with a market at all prices start off ok but eventually, they skyrocket out of control to the point nobody can afford things unless they get a lucky drop themselves and sell that item only to put their money right back into the market. I'll just get my own drops where I can just farm more if needed to get something, or not, but at least I don't have to worry about someone else being greedy, lol.

    The biggest and most important change they could make quickly as a bandaid fix is to allow you to adjust price after placing for free. Also it would be nice if they minimum price was the vendor sell price instead of 0. Personally i would live if the system auto sold items to a vendor if the price ever got that low and automatically lowered prices the longer a item sat on market until it sold. That way the market could slowly adjust itself.

    you have the sales window open, where you enter the quantity and price, and in the same window there are two small icons. With one you look at the market board to check the current price, and with the other you look at the sales of the last few hours.
