Belle from Beauty and the Beast would make for an interesting villain. Overprotective loyalty to her father plus lashing out at a restrictive community/literal imprisonment?
I love the fact that instead of coming up with a completly new song for the villain princesses, you twist their original song into a villain one. It feels as if everything has come full circle and it's really cool
Something that was interesting to me was that Elsa was either too scared or still loved Anna too much to harm her. But Anna was just pushed too far to see or care anymore. A true villian and definitely one of Lydia and the team's best works. Thanks so much!
Funny how most great villains are pushed too hard to turn back. A true villain’s redemption is kinda rare (or that I’ve seen)🤣🤣 Lydia sure did a great job making it seem very plausible, and the chills were REAL
A major detail I like is the contrast between Anna's ice powers and Elsa's. Elsa is all snow and crystalline ice, the beauty of winter. Meanwhile Anna is straight up frost and jagged, frigid ice. There's nothing nice about it, just the inexorable might of the primal cold which leeches the life and heat from all things.
what do you think of this?: "Both sisters stared Each other, one of them no longer feeling anything in her soul, and the other feeling nothing but sorry for the drama she caused, sorry for the misery she accidentally inflicted upon both, and when the cursed sister was about to finish off her older sister....something happened, a birght and gorgeous rainbow steram blocked the attack of both sisters that were about to clash, both sisters were confused by what was that...and between them flew a little fairy, dressed in purlpe and pink, being she whom summoned such rainbow, Anna, annoyed by this intromission, only aimed to the fairy, but this one answered with another lightningbolt of rainbow, which not only repelled the beam of ice, but transmutated into a chain that held captive the cursed sister. The fairy asked to the queen, asking for her hand to help the cursed sister, both the fairy and que queen touched their hands, and the chain of rainbow, caused an unexpected effect: both the fairy and the queen where in the mindscape of the cursed sister, whe they saw what looked like a painting where two happy girls where playing, which was totally covered in ice, and seemingly broken, but the fairy guided the queen to touch the ice, and the fairy used another spell, this one creating a powerful bodn that made both the minds of the cursed sister and the queen to connect, in that moment, and with the help of the fairy, and regardless of how much the ice was fighting to repel both, all the feelings of loneliness, and longing for love of the queen reached the broken picture, and with the magic of the fairy, this one began to get rid of all the damage it had suffered, because the love of the queen for her sister was finally thawing the ice in her mind, and no matter how much the cursed sister fought against it, the feeling and longing for love that she though broken, was returning, until the picture saw itslef freen in a explosion of ice, with both the queen and the cursed sister fainting.... whne both sisters woke up, they saw the ice in the kinddom gone, and the queen saw all the changes her sister had suffered gone, her hair and her heart where back to normal. the fairy entered the tent where she congratulated both sisters by being able of mend the sisters heart. the queen look at her sister with nothing but pure repentance, since all her mistakeswhere what drove her sister into siuch dangerous path, both sisters where in a silence until the queen tried to speak, but the sisters only answered with a hug for her sister, thanking her for the only thing she wanted really: tenderness from her part...and then she hugged the little fairy for help into release her from the icein his soul... at the doors of the palace, the little fairy was ready to say goodbye to both sisters, and in that moment, a portal of light materialized while both sisters say good bye, the sister asked to the fairy what was her named: My name is princess Sofia balthazar from Enchancia"
I really love how you changed Anna’s colours to show how quick her heart freezes. At the start of the song she was an orange colour. And when she became evil she turned purple. And when heart froze over completely she turned an icy blue colour. I also love how her nails got sharper and sharper as she used her powers. Nails that are definitely fit for a villain.
Yeah though Anna is cold and ruthless. I’m not sure Olafs kindness will set her free. If Elsa gets set free ‘she will have no choice but to fight her sister’.
While else's magic is more crystalline and controlled freezing specific areas Anna's is more frostbite and creeping like being flash frozen or freeze dried
Quite a powerful and tragic song of two sisters. The loss of their parents combined with the fear, paranoia, and loneliness set into them broke them further apart over time, unable to speak clearly with one another until it was too late. True love isn't going to be able to save Anna this time, as she's fully rejected it in favor of finally pushing herself first, while Elsa seems like she can't even bother trying to put up a fight, whether out of guilt or being unable to harm her sister purposely. And now they're both left frozen in different ways.
Wait a minute if Anna and Elsa is separated and Elsa is frozen but it is said that after the ice has corrupted her heart and inside of her body now she is ice or frozen probably after the ice controlled her and it stopped Anna will feel guilty of what she did to her sister or will the ice will still control her no one knows but the developers of the villain Anna will know Ok I had enough of typing
None of the insults and injuries were done voluntarily to either of them, but the fear of each only added new ones and made them worse. For me who loves this cartoon and who finds it deeper than what people want to recognize it, I find this outcome very sad and beautiful. In the end, I was afraid that one of the sisters would say for the last word "sorry" what would break my heart.
I luv how Anna is a deeper shade of purple blue, like frigid ice. But Elsa's is more warmer like Winter. And these lyrics are really heartbreaken. And I don't even have to mention this art masterpiece, this is really something
Love the concept of Anna slowly turning into the Snow Queen Disney originally planned but scrapped because of Elsa's 'Let it Go' song. It's just so interesting to see the slow physical change throughout this song as Anna goes from the girl we know to a true ice queen with pale skin, long nails and snow white hair.
One of the scariest things about the metaphysical ramifications of her not only frozen, but broken heart is that she can't die now. She's an immortal ice queen that can never die and as she grows to further understand her power, even things like removing limbs won't slow her down because she'll just break down and come back together in a snow flurry or ice storm vortex. She won't be limited by a human body, she'll be a living element of cold.
Even if she turned into a villain I don´t think she would last long on her own after ending Elsa. Her pain would overcome the anger and then consume her, so the only way for her to die now is if she, quite literally, melted. And so the water she turns into represents all the silent tears and repressed emotions carried within herself for years because she never knew why she was shut out. Anna thought time could "heal" her broken ice heart at first, but the pieces melted before she could do something about it. Leaving Elsa alone and frozen for eternity because now nothing and no one could unfreeze her.
Looking at you comment kinda made me think that this scenario of frozen could turn into a 2 sides to winter type situation. Where Elsa is the more calm side to winter where Anna becomes the more fatal side to it with blizzards and all that.
Just imagine if that hit to anna's heart from elsa actually just removed any ounce of love and warmth anna had and left her cold hearted (metaphorically and literally) Honestly love seeing characters who had all right to become villians actually snap.Mirabel and Anna are characters that honestly had the most right to be angry or hold resentment.✨
I love how in this AU, Anna slowly becomes the Snow Queen we're familiar with from the original Hans Christian Anderson novel. I mean, Frozen is based off of the novel and Elsa is clearly mean to represent the villain from the original novel, but Elsa is faf more timid and shy compared to her. But here, Anna becomes much more similar to the Snow Queen than Elsa is.

Also in this AU the frozen heart makes Anna lack the love she once had instead of killing her similarly to what happened to Kay in the snow queen when the fragments of the mirror were in his heart and eye (if I remember correctly)
I LOVE the detail of Anna’s hair starting off with white streaks, which slowly become more prominent until it’s become as white as her frozen heart. Any traces of her usual warmth and joy are completely gone by the song’s end, completing her descent into villainy.
I think the song's end would have been cooler (No pun intended) if after Anna turned Elsa into a ice statue she covered her fist in ice and punched Elsa, shattering her into a million pieces. That would guarantee that sister dearest wouldn't be coming back.
But the funny thing is there is a small bit of that joy left, when she dances so joyfully before she confronts elsa, but it's a totally different type of joy. It's revelling in deciding to finally take control and take revenge on the one who hurt her.
I love this ending so much! The spell hitting Anna’s heart woke up her powers, froze her heart cold, and turned her into the Snow Queen of Hans Christian Andersen’s story
I love the touch that while Elsa _could_ have tried to stop the new villainous Anna, she was either too scared of what Anna became or still cared to where she couldn't bring herself to harm her sister, not after what happened last time. It shows that she still cares. Anna just no longer cares about Elsa herself.
I don’t know if it’s just me but I love the changes of Anna’s colors over the course of the song. She starts out as a pale red, when her heart completely freezes over she becomes a pale purple (a mix of red and blue), and when her transformation is complete she becomes the same icy shade of blue that Elsa is colored in.
at the same time, Elsa was purple at first. I guess the colors mean emotions. red is something like happiness, purple is hopelessness, blue is alienation. Elsa turned blue after she ran away from the kingdom and embraced life as a loner. But Anna renounced her sister and destroyed her. It's sad to see that Elsa was probably purple after she almost killed Anna as a child.
I just found these and... I'm in complete awe. Makes you really realize how easy it would've been for the heros to turn villains if they gave into the neglect and pressure of their roles and just threw their moral compass to the wind
I love how Anna's ice powers are sharp and pointed, like fragmented glass, whereas Elsa's ice is smooth and pure. It shows how they relate to their powers, while reflecting on their motivations. 2k likes (real) (not fake) (gone wrong) (emotional) (3am)
Yeah like how Anna ice reflects her anger and hurt Elsas ice reflects her love but her hesitation as she still loves Anna so she doesn’t want to hurt her,you can see that in her face as their fighting with their ice at the end
I did not expect "Do You Wanna Build A Snowman" to suddenly kick in. I had goosebumps from start to finish. As someone who really thought Anna was gonna turn out to have ice powers just like Elsa, this is absolutely amazing. The small bits of animation are just so perfect. Absolutely incredible.
Hot take: Turning Anna into a villain is a lot easier than turning Elsa into a villain, all we need to do is to make her a bit jealous of Elsa's powers.
that or just give her some self esteem. isn't that what these villain songs are? anna had no reason to try for elsa's love any longer, really. at no point in anna's memory had elsa ever shown love to her. i think we would all go a bit insane in these situations
Most Frozen Villain AUs have Elsa as the villain; I love this different take with Anna. It makes sense that Anna could become a villain, and she's also terrifying with ice powers. Another great Villain AU song, complete with animatics. Great work!
To be fair Elsa was officially gonna be the villain but Disney changed it so from that sense you can probably see why there are more evil Elsa aus (not that it’s a bad thing)
@@Evancore-u6v well the original fairy tale Anna goes a journey meeting the queen of spring and queen of snow after her lover Hans gets an ice splinter in his heart to thaw his heart since afterwards Hans rejected emotions and was pure logic only
Yeah I never quite bought the story that when they wrote "Let it Go" they decided Elsa didn't work as a villain. I feel like the song could still be a villain song from a certain angle. The final version frames it as Elsa finally feeling free to embrace her powers and not have to live up to others' expectations, and being happy about that. But I feel like it could be interpreted as a villain song featuring Elsa's turn to evil, a sort of "then let me be evil" kind of song. Sort of like "Defying Gravity." But maybe that's just me.
Is it bad that I prefer this than what we got? Because this song is beautiful and would have loved to see Anna as the villain. This would have me in tears if this was canon. Heck it made me feel emotional watching this 😭😭

Imagine a double twist villain like this? I’m not saying it would be good if the original film had done that, but if Hans had shown his villainy openly to the audience but not Anna and then this was the twist at the end? That would’ve been so shocking. And Anna really feels like a more direct adaptation of The Snow Queen here than Elsa ever did.
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE SEES THE PARALEL!!! I have a coloring book, I got it as a child and it tells the story of The Snow Queen and I quickly realized that it was like Frozen... or rather that Frozen was like it!
Not only that, but it punctuates Anna’s parallel to Kai more as her heart is frozen over in personality, rather than literally. (Or maybe a bit of both)
@@ericanight8359 it is. or rather, it WAS, until Let it Go was written. once that song was written, those in charge were faced with a choice. ditch a song destined to become an ultra mega hit, or rewrite your villian to become a hero. because Elsa's counterpart in the fable IS the bad guy, full stop. they chose the latter route, this is a return to the story's roots.
A very interesting fact is that Elsa could have beaten Anna, because she is the ice element itself, which is shown in Frozen 2. It shows how much Elsa cares about Anna to the point that she doesn't use all the power she has to keep from hurting her. The art was absolutely awesome and lyrics too, your voice is very pretty!
@@nahte123456 Oh, I had forgotten that. But, Elsa still could have defeated Anna because of more experience with ice powers, but she didn't because she was afraid of hurting Anna
@@isabelaramosduarte347 Elsa couldn't even make walls to stop the people hunting her, that's why she was pushing them out the castle, she literally could not just make an ice prison. The whole point is Elsa doesn't get control of ANY power until Anna sacrifices herself. Olaf wouldn't exist if she had even the most basic control.
@@nahte123456 I said "defeat' Anna, not to her do a prison made of ice to arrest her, and she made a castle of ice, she could easily make an ice prison. Anyway, Elsa is capable of control her powers, she had since she's born, Elsa didn't wanted hurt Anna, she just wanted make her stop freeze the peoples and the whole kingdom.
@@isabelaramosduarte347 Lie to yourself more because that's absolutely moronic. The fact that she froze Anna's heart proves that. Elsa literally does not do a SINGLE thing in the entire movie without fucking up. Her castle was made while accidentally making Olaf, trying to get Anna to leave and she froze her heart, trying to stop from being attacked and she could only make a wall and slowly push it. Pay literally ANY attention to the story instead. The mere fact that she almost killed Anna proves anything you said here is brainless.
I thought this was the route Disney WAS going to go when I saw Frozen. Anna said " I'm Fine!" when she was struck by Elsa's ice power and I thought it was her heart freezing and turning her into a villian. Thanks for singing the head canon.
That’d make sense, the ice sucked out the thoughts that told her Elsa (or anyone) was good and only left the thoughts of hatred and annoyance for being ignored.
In the original story the 'froze the heart' effect was exactly that so it would go better with the lore. A frozen heart see all the defects in the people around.
The lines:"I reached out when you were hurting, United to the end, you froze me out completely, I just wanted a friend"is so damn powerful and so sad at the same time and if you add the line "thought we were" And instead of froze we add "closed" It makes "I reached out when you were hurting, thought we were United to the end, you closed me out completely, I just wanted a friend!! " Fits so damn well for a ex-best friend who has been talking shit about you behind your back and closed you out of their life like you were nothing to them but you loved them as a friend all their life. Lydia love your works they are soo good this one is especially my favorite it gives me chills whenever I listen to it 😬
Quite honestly, this was one of the most dramatic changes. The sweetest and kindest character in all of Disney turning on her own sister and ACTUALLY finishing her off? BRILLIANT!
by "Brilliant" i take it you also mean "BLOODY TERRIFYING" and "UNSETTLING AS HECK" cuz that was more my takeaway from this. I legit needed a minute after that.
@@davidvangerner7241honestly, no one. Anna was able to freeze Elsa, who is the element of ice herself. Even of you were lucky enough to capture Anna, how do you turn her back to her kind self? She really is unstoppable.
One detail I love is how Elsa stood up at 3:40 showing that she could break out of Anna’s ice handcuffs but just didn’t try to resist her which proves that even though Anna is too far gone she still loves her sister.
Honestly Anna having a villain role would suit her so much as she lost her parents and her sister she used to love, and grew up all alone and lonely. Then there was also that prince or whatever that "loved" her but left her dying.
It would have made the journey, the love story, and Anna and Elsa making up so much more impactful, especially allowing Elsa to see how what she had done effected Anna when she was too blind to see it.
Seriously! There was even a plot and a song called "Life's too short" from the first plan they had for frozen. They were going to make Elsa a villain at one point but scrapped it.
It would be great to have a villain song for Anna from the sequel around The Next Right Thing. Where this time Anna truly has lost absolutely everyone she loved, found out the truth about her parents, and is now completely alone with the only thing left is to return home and accept her new role as queen. Basically her traumatic, miserable life finally breaking her into becoming an evil queen. Anna’s whole story has such great villain potential.
So Anna becomes the real Snow Queen, which Frozen was inspired from. Kinda cute how Elsa was to sympathetic to be a real villain, so they changed the story and now Anna is just to emotionally broken to stay the hero. This song and concept story is so amazing ❤
Yeah I love it too- it really harkens back to the original story a lot better, the idea of a frozen heart turning you mentally and emotionally cold and shattered as opposed to *physically* freezing you.
This is a really great song. What i found really interesting is that as the song progresses, you can see the change in color of Anna going from warm red , then light lavender, lastly to icy blue, showing the humanity leaving her as she becomes cold and ruthless, great touch.
2:54 'Do you wanna build a snowman?' that gave me chills, you can really feel all things Ana has been represing, the pain, the sadness, the anger... The way this resembles so much the original tale, a frozen heart turning a kind soul into someone cold, unforgiving and incapable of love, just there isn't loving warm tears that can heal them this time around. I honestly think this may be my favorite of your villian princesses, im definetly going to be heareing it a thounsand more times.
If Frozen had been a larger universe (a book series maybe?), there are so many reasons this would have been perfect. It would have added an entirely different meaning to "Frozen Heart," and could have been made to be synonymous with "Heartless." This would also add SO much depth to Elsa, who would likely start out being framed as a misunderstood antagonist (similar to the beginning of the movie) but then ultimately transforming into a determined antihero out of guilt from creating in Anna the villain that Elsa would have always believed herself to be. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
* stands and applauds loudly after your ted talk * * realizes is the only one clapping * * clears throat and sits back down sedately, while giving you a quiet thumbs up. *
I think I like villain Anna better. The song is catchy and shows just how much pain she's gone through. Also she looks absolutely gorgeous with her hair just flowing down when it's white.
I dont think there was actually anyone stopping Anna from going out and making friends. She wasnt even tightly held up inside the walls and she was more insistent to keep calling for Elsa. Compared to Elsa whose been holding in her powers from showing up, hurting anyone and going completely uncontrollable, Elsa has more possibility to actually let it go in the wrong way. Plus her power was constantly growing so theres no telling what she can do other than changing the weather of her Queendom. Even her gloves were constantly upgraded
@@blueravenstar4162I think bc she’s the last member of the royal family after Elsa she was kinda kept inside her life. Like when she walked outside she even looked so foreign and awkward

The Watcher: In their original story, despite all Elsa had done, Anna never gave up on her sister and fought with all she had to save her and mend their family. But in another universe, Anna harbored far more resentment towards Elsa, resulting in the eventual manifestation of her own dormant abilities, leading to a much less happy ending than the one you know.
I love that their powers are two different veiws on winter. Elsa is the soft snow fall, the cozy, calm feeling of winter. anna is the opposite, shes the dangerous side, the icicles, the blistering cold, everything bad and scary
i think the most chilling line in the song is "Do you want to build a snowman?" just that gut punch to Elsa letting her know and reminding her of all the chances she had to be a sister.
I love how the Elsa villain song is how she loved her sister so much she captured her in ice, but Anna's is how she holds a grudge against her sister all these years. All villain songs are amazing and this is one of my personal favorites!
Anna so deserves something like this! In the original movie, Anna is all forgotten and never gets her say. I really dislike the Frozen movies. Anna fixes everything, yet she is thrown aside. While Elsa just whines and sobs the whole movie. But this was so epic. Just remove the ice from Anna and it was as the real Frozen probably would have gone before they changed it last minute. I wish Anna had gotten more.

The scene at 2:39 really gave me goosebumps cause it shows how much Elsa was afraid of Anna in that moment. Props to the animators for making it so smooth and the vocals were amazing.
I love the shot at 3:45 - it really gives off the impression of Elsa seeing just how far Ana has fallen, just how much she is broken and is no longer the person she was, and that there is nothing that can be done to fix it. Amazing song and video!
I'm also pretty sure from that hit, since it hit Elsa at her head it pretty much kills her because she's completely white and not covered in icy blue ice. ❄
Anna has to be the most terrifying villain ever. This is a masterpiece. The storyline makes so much sense, I could totally see it going this way. I never thought about how Elsa mistreated anna like that. The animation was so detailed. My favorite part, though, had to be the AMAZING vocals at 3:33. That is so professional and beautiful. You impress me so much!
My dad always said; the most unrealistic part of Frozen was Anna's unconditional love for Elsa. Not even a SMIDGEN of anger or bitterness, just "We're sisters and I love you ✨"
@@alexandriahunt6058I agree. I wish Anna held at least a grudge against Elsa for abandoning her. I personally would never forgive Elsa for ignoring me.

For example, while characters like Darth Vader, Joker and Hannibal are usually considered to be some of the, if the, most highly memorable and interesting villains to hit the big screen, they don't fit with our current entertainment taste buds as well as they did in decades past. Such as a character like Homelander from the boys or, in the simplest form modern day, whatever we can connect with in a deep and memetic manner in as large of an audience as possible. This song meant a lot to me because of real world issues with my biological sister. The quality of which, combined with the emotional beats and tonal emphasis on certain words worked with me better then my normally analytical mind could ignore. Anyways, I wish I could give you a more concrete answer beyond a few tips but the end result is, the reason why Hollywood can't succeed most of the times on their villains is because of both budget and the field being dynamic as dynamic can be. This means that most of what you need to do is just keep up with trends of your particular niche so you can make a "President Cezanne" or an "Aylith, the Dark Matron" when requested. That's usually done through genuinely staying passionate on said niche or inventing a new niche through the stitching and rebranding of a dozen different things that will make your own heart tingle.
Can we talk about how pretty Anna is? Even if she is now a villain, she is so pretty with her hair down. The vocals and pitch were very good too! I loved how the song went.
As we saw in Frozen 2, once Elsa’s dies, anything that was created by her powers dies with her🤔 So would that have reversed Anna’s frozen heart? Would Anna then be back to normal and have the sudden realization of what she’d done?🤔
I don't think she's dead here. My take would be that she's trapped. Her body is an ice statue, but she's still in there. Even more a horrific, yet almost fitting punishment.

I love how this isn't just dark and brooding, it's also got quite a Poppy feel to it, so it's more the song of a true villain, someone who knows exactly how evil they're being and revels in it.
I love how natural these villian twists are. Because from Anna’s perspective she didn’t really think Elsa loved her. She had no reason to. So it makes sense she could choose this route. Edit: thanks for the likes!
Idk, she found out earlier in the story that Elsa was staying away to protect her. And if she didn't care for Elsa's approval anymore, why wouldn't she have let her go, and killing everyone immediately seems like a LARGE change compared to how she acted throughout the whole movie. Not to mention, what did she get out of pretending she liked Hans? Not saying anyone's opinion is invalid, you can enjoy anything you want
@@justaperson886part of it could be explained by her frozen heart. She stopped seeing the real truth and became cold. Focussing on how much Elsa hurt her.
"Do you want to build a snowman?" Never thought such a childish line would give me chills. Really shows how much Anna's loneliness has made her lose her innocence and turn her into the villain she is now.
I love when Anna talks to Elsa at 1:56-2:01 saying...surely you couldn't have seen this going any other way. It's really ironic and the lyrics and voices even the animations are incredible!
I wish Anna had gotten more
@@soulight6091 Or no twist villian at all. Disney is terrible at making a twist villian. The one that worked was King Candy from Wreck it Ralf. But, yes just something that was better than what they did. The original thought was for Anna to save the kingdom from Elsa with a frozen heart, as you can see in the song Life's too short. I love that song, it shows a so much better dynamic then the movie we got!
I felt the love they had as sisters. I felt the last sorrows and the anger that came from Anna. Elsa realized how she did her wrong, what she created, and that she was going to die because of it. I loved this so much!! I finally got to see Anna actually feel what Disney and Anna herself pushed deep deep down!! Thank you!!!!
I see this as a perfect lead up to Elsa's own villain song. Heartbroken at seeing her sister's suffering and the corruption she's gone through but knowing she has to stop her from hurting anyone else and to try and reverse the damage done, Elsa confronts Anna. She hopes she can try and make her see some sense...bring back that sweet, innocent sister she loved. But Anna is too far gone. Elsa is forced to fight her sister. Though Anna's rage makes her stronger and despite Elsa's own inability to control her power, Elsa still has more experience using their shared ice power. Unfortunately it's because of her lack of control that Elsa ends up accidentally killing Anna. As a result Elsa is overwhelmed with despair...she's killed her only remaining family...she couldnt save her sister. To make matters worse...despite Anna's death, her power isnt reversed. Everyone remains frozen. So Elsa remains in Arendelle, her grief turning to madness A queen of ice in her frozen kingdom...watching over her frozen subjects...haunted by the calls of the doomed princess
Wow. I love it so much. From the lyrics to the animation but what really stood out was the difference in their ice--Anna's ice looks more sinister, monstrous with the consistent sharpness in it as if really symbolizing the monster she became and her skin becoming a glass-like texture after her heart was reached by the ice and shattered it. The way you approach this part of Anna, is very lovely. She would really make an interesting villain with a relatable backstory why she became one. I felt that when she's saying she ran out of chances and like all the love she has for Elsa is gone.
the "i tried getting you to talk to me" part gives me chills! the delivery is perfect, omg. better than most actual performances in the movies in my opinion
I love the way Anna's voice has a sort of "Colder pitch" If you get what I mean. Whenever she sings the line, "For the first time in forever" I get goosebumps with the way she twists the sound.
The villain pacing around the hero, taunting them while they're incapacitated is such a fantastic trope. Its peak arrogance and I love it! "Get down and bow, its Coronation Day!" Is also a fire line.
Whoa. This goes beyond anything else I've seen you do where it's a role reversal in a Disney movie. This gets gritty, tragic and horrifying fast. And I'm living for every second of it. Anna just thoughtlessly committed genocide with only vengeance on her mind, entirely severing the bond she tried her whole life desperately to hold onto.
I love how you made Anna’s hair turn more white like Elsa’s, not only does Anna now have her sister’s power, but her heart is turning colder and colder! Love ur work!!❤❤❤
1:59 Elsa’s face after Anna asks more herself than Elsa if she should let Elsa live. The fear and heartbreak as she realizes that it wasn’t her ice that froze Anna’s heart. That she killed her sister in a way more metaphorical than physical. 2:39 I think this is moment Elsa truly realized that Anna, as she’d known her, couldn’t be saved. That her sister was gone for good, replaced by a manifestation of the hurt she’d suffered. 3:21 this is when I realized the alterations to Ann’s design weren’t just stylistic, but that she was actually transforming into a creature of ice and wind. 3:52 I’m pretty sure that this is when the final realization that Anna is stronger, and that she can’t win hits Elsa. This is the moment that she knows how this fight is going to end but has to at least try, for the sake of her subjects.
This song hurts a lot more to me than the other songs, I think, because it doesn't feel like Anna's justified. Because this wasn't Elsa's fault. She was scared, and traumatized, and she was locked away too. None of this was her fault, and the fact that Anna can't see that is uniquely terrifying. Without all the philosophy, though, this song was actually amazing. Especially 1:20, where it shows all the frozen people and then "nothing's in my way"? Literal chills, I swear.
@@claragemheart581Yeah, don't forget Anna had to deal with Elsa emotionally neglecting her for 13 YEARS! Elsa should have sent her a written message why she's avoiding her. But no, Elsa was too scared to! Anna should have held that against her!
I loved how at 2:16 after Elsa kneeled to her Anna walked around her in that position! Really made her more evil and showed how much she was tired of having to bow down to Elsa! Truly amazing voice too! ❤
This is the single greatest piece of Frozen art I have ever witnessed. I would give anything to have the movie rewritten this way. What an incredible story, beautifully drawn, and your voice tells the pain and anger of Anna’s dark character perfectly! Well done.
What strikes me is how the longer the confrontation goes on the less Anna seems angry and rather just.. Hurting. Her magic is still jagged and broken but her face is.. Resigned. A hollow acceptance that this is the end.
TLDR: All she wanted was a friend, instead she was isolated and had her heart shatter after being frozen by the one person who was once her only friend. I love the addition of "Do you wanna build a snowman" It both adds an incredibly personal touch and helps drive in the main message of the song. That being that Anna gave Elsa year's worth of chances to let her in. To be sisters. So it makes sense that as the magic freezes her heart, her warmth, it magnifies the anger and fear and all of the other negative emotions that come from over a decade of isolation. All she ever wanted was a friend and her sister, her last remaining family member, denied that from her for years. It makes sense that a part of Anna would grow bitter over the years, especially since she doesn't know the full context of why Elsa froze her out. She only knows bits and pieces and the last straw for Anna would've been when Elsa froze her heart, even if she didn't know that yet. It's such a perfect villain origin story, where she was literally turned into the monster she is now by her family. Her parents for starting the isolation and kept Anna, probably without good reason, from her best friend. Then Elsa quite literally finished the monstrous transformation by literally freezing Anna's heart to the point of shattering. And, aside from killing all those people lol, you can't really blame Anna for becoming a villain as in this story Anna didn't have much other choice, like her heart was literally frozen which probably destroyed any last warmth and kindness that Anna clung to.
I find it very cool that the sisters are represented in different ways. Just like how every other comment has pointed out, Elsa's ice is smooth & Anna's ice is sharp & pointed. What I have not seen another comment point out, is Anna's change of color. The old kinder Anna is colored in a orange-like color, while the new, evil Anna is colored in light blue, although her blue seems to be a tad bit darker than Elsa's. Anna, before using her ice powers, is colored in a dark pale purple, just like the old, closed off version of Elsa. It really shows how Anna became filled with nothing but hatred for her sister, & hence why she was able to freeze her. Elsa was also holding back for obvious reasons.
“I just wanted a friend!!!” Is sooo relatable right now😭😭😭 I’m in a strained relationship with my best friend and she doesn’t want to be my “best” friend, I thought our relationship wasn’t strained but she said it is still.
This animatic was incredible! I love the difference in how you drew Anna and Elsa’s magic, with Elsa’s being more flowy and soft while Anna’s was jagged and hard
What’s even more interesting is that this was the point of the movie when Elsa was debatably at her weakest. She’s an individual that is so ruled by her fears stemming from the traumatic incident of having hurt her sister with her powers. She’s already almost completely convinced that she sort of monster that will hurt everybody around her. And this was the point of the movie where she’s accidentally hurt Anna again with her powers, is racked with guilt, and Hans had further preyed on that when imprisoning her. The storm became worse, and she had nearly no control whatsoever. An evil Anna with powers confronting her at this moment was never going to end any other way. Elsa is so powerful as an individual. But similarly to how Anna felt Elsa chipped away at her self worth, Elsa has nearly no self-worth thanks to years of fear building from the impression her parents left on her after accidentally icing baby Anna. This was the moment where all her worst insecurities was thrown in her face by the one person she was afraid of hurting the most, the one she DID hurt the most. All her fears validated, though not quite in the way she thought it would. She would’ve never hurt Anna, so she folded like a wet paper bag.
I love how at 1:25 Anna's hand looks almost reminiscent to a smoking gun. I also really like how Anna is more like the evil Ice Queen that Elsa was originally based off of.
I loved that!! Anna, is one of my favorite Disney Princesses. Her as a villain, suits her pretty well. She went through so much, and helped all the time, but didn’t get much in return.
I love the idea of a twist where the whole movie you know that Elsa is the "Snow Queen," but in the end, Anna is the one who actually becomes the evil Snow Queen.
i'm crying after i heard this, it made me realize how much Anna suffered and i also want to give her a hug so badly, love the change in colors as the story progresses and the vocals are great, thanks for this, now i want to see one of Rapunzel since she was one of my favorite princesses
"Get down and bow it's coronation day!" followed by "for the first time in forever, I'm not looking for your love," is so powerful. As a lyricist, I'm impressed
Something I find interesting about this, is the obvious references to the Snow Queen fairytale. Especially when Anna sings 'I'm not looking for your love', and the metaphorical heart in her hands shatters like mirror glass. Keyword being 'mirror', like the mirror in the Snow Queen. And the shards reflecting in Elsa's eyes is an obvious reference too. Like when Kai got a mirror shard in his eye, and it altered his perception of the world around him. I think this applies to both sisters though, not just Elsa. Elsa's fear of her powers and losing control of them altered her perception of her reality, but in this video Anna is going through the same thing. Like the scene with the ice wall, where Anna sings 'The Anna you knew is dead and gone.' The reflections in the wall indicate that Elsa is angry at Anna, but Anna is remembering that out of context. The same with the portraits in the ballroom, all of them are from Anna's perspective, not Elsa's. And we all know perspective can be a tricky thing. And now that Anna's heart has been frozen, and her personality changed, her perception of the present moment and of past moments have been altered as well. Yes, Elsa shut Anna out for years, but as explained at the ice palace, she was trying to protect Anna, not hurt her. This Anna is completely neglecting that fact, and is only seeing what she wants to see if only to justify her feelings of pain. Whoever reads this, I hope you have a great day! 😊
0:340:340:34 on pictures on the wall,Anna is sad or scared or angry .Looking back at what she has faced. Also thank you for one of my favorite songs (I have two)
I knew Anna would get a villain song! Look I understand Sofia’s too young but after all the shit she went through throughout her series, she desperately NEEDS a villain song. After years of childhood trauma gone unchecked, she snaps on Amber's coronation and goes into a murderous rampage using her skills as protector and the amulet's magic combined, leaving only her sister and her sorcerer Cedric spared as they didn't "mess up my childhood".
With the other villain songs you've done, It felt natural, like the characters genuinely could have been pushed to that point. This one however, Anna was always the person who loved Elsa unconditionally, no matter what. To see Anna loathe Elsa for everything that happened. Makes Anna a truly terrifying villain, because I'd never expect it from her. All of your songs are FANTASTIC!!! But, this one takes the cake for me. Rewatching, and, Literal chills.
This is so incredible. Feels like watching a broadway musical, especially having two songs intertwined like this. Got serious chills when she started singing Do You Wanna Build a Snowman. Just awesome
Oh Hans Surely you didn't think I bought your whole act? I should be thanking you really You were the last push I needed Interesting Now where is Elsa? Won't live in your shadow anymore Forever shut behind these doors Imprisoned as you rule and you dictate Pandering to your every call Pointlessly talking to the walk Finally I'm knocking down the gates This really isn't anything personal I just can't have you getting in my way The story's gonna change and go my way For the first time in forever I'm getting what I really want For the first time in forever I'll have my say and you can watch I'm stronger now than ever And it's time I take my place For the first time in forever Nothing's in my way Oh nothing's in my way Did you think I'd just keep taking it? Letting you crush my self-worth bit by bit Well now you'll just learn who you're messing with The Anna you knew is dead and gone Finally done being your pawn Which begs the question Do I let you live? Oh don't look so surprised Surely you can't have seen this going any other way Get down and bow It's coronation day For the first time in forever I'm not looking for your love For the first time in forever I am free to rise above I don't care for your approval We have nothing more to say For the first time in forever Nothing's in my None of this had to happen, Elsa We could have been sisters But I've run out of chances And you have run out of time Do you wanna build a snowman? I've lost count of all the times I tried getting you to talk to me To open up and see I was yours and you were mine I reached out when you were hurting United to the end You froze me out completely I just wanted a friend For the first time in forever I can see clearly what to do There's one thing that always held me back And that one thing was you Now you've had your last tomorrow 'Cause your time is up today For the first time in forever Nothing's in my way Nothing's in my way I'm sorry I couldn't read it fast enough in the video so I wrote it here🙏
That's just so epic, probably one of your best creations from this series, the animatic are so on point with the expression and the mood as well as the surrounding that each of the verse coming from the song is done beautifully it's so haunting yet mesmerising and catchy. The climax of her fighting Elsa is just chilling, poor Elsa still unable to accept her guilt on what she's caused to change Anna this much but accepting her defeat and allowing her to trample over her without much of a fight, this sisterhood between them got a lot of potential and the sudden rivalry and exposition you gave to Anna really justified on why she turned out to be this cold, i feel bad for both of them but villain Anna slayed!
What I'm loving about this, is the one sided conversation, still sounds like a complete conversation. Anna reacting to their expressions and filling in with her reply and answers. Despite everything that could be said and done, she is getting that last word in. That moment of the "do you want to build a snowman" hit so hard. Beautiful work, I only discovered this channel through a youtube recommendation, and now you have a new subscriber ^^
I love how Anna’s anger, betrayal and all of her other emotions made her ice powers jagged ice frost and there so much emotion that the ice practically exploded from her

Lydia the bard could you make a tinkerbell villain song using the song called the frigate that flies from the movie tinkerbell and the pirate fairy
Please do Cinderella
Belle from Beauty and the Beast would make for an interesting villain. Overprotective loyalty to her father plus lashing out at a restrictive community/literal imprisonment?
I know she already is a villain but she never did get a song so maybe Azlua. If not Azula then Cinderella :)
Merida!!!! Please do touch the sky that's my favourite song in the movie
I love the fact that instead of coming up with a completly new song for the villain princesses, you twist their original song into a villain one. It feels as if everything has come full circle and it's really cool
it's also just easier to change the lyrics of a song than to make a whole new one
I love that too! Like Lydia just twist a happy princess song into a villain one!
Ikr! It’s like twisting their theme to its darker mirror
Yassss
And normally is their "I want" song which is supposed to show what they really want
Something that was interesting to me was that Elsa was either too scared or still loved Anna too much to harm her. But Anna was just pushed too far to see or care anymore. A true villian and definitely one of Lydia and the team's best works. Thanks so much!
Agreed. 👍
Funny how most great villains are pushed too hard to turn back. A true villain’s redemption is kinda rare (or that I’ve seen)🤣🤣 Lydia sure did a great job making it seem very plausible, and the chills were REAL
Like the MCU villains, all of them had ambition, but they all rejected and push to hit a low but then rise back up
Once upon a time is owned by Disney and they explored this and revealed Anna’s feelings.
I think it was mostly shock, and then love.
AWESOME take on the details.
Elsa is the Snow Queen when Anna is the Ice Queen
I like how they went with dormant powers awaken by Elsa

I really love how you changed Anna’s colours to show how quick her heart freezes. At the start of the song she was an orange colour. And when she became evil she turned purple. And when heart froze over completely she turned an icy blue colour. I also love how her nails got sharper and sharper as she used her powers. Nails that are definitely fit for a villain.
I like to think of this as less of Anna actually "changing" to be evil, but because her heart was frozen, it made her "cold-hearted"

But why does Anna have ice magic too if only Elsa was born with it?
@@RimFaxxe In The description. It's basically a 'what if' where instead of Elsa literally freezing her heart it slowly turned her cold and heartless.
OOOH I LOVE THIS
I love this
Wait a minute if Anna and Elsa is separated and Elsa is frozen but it is said that after the ice has corrupted her heart and inside of her body now she is ice or frozen probably after the ice controlled her and it stopped Anna will feel guilty of what she did to her sister or will the ice will still control her no one knows but the developers of the villain Anna will know
Ok I had enough of typing
That’s so cool!
Also at 2:13 it shows broken glass like in the original fairytale (or in ouat)
Leaving Elsa alone and frozen for eternity because now nothing and no one could unfreeze her.
yes just like the myth

Looking at you comment kinda made me think that this scenario of frozen could turn into a 2 sides to winter type situation. Where Elsa is the more calm side to winter where Anna becomes the more fatal side to it with blizzards and all that.
Just imagine if that hit to anna's heart from elsa actually just removed any ounce of love and warmth anna had and left her cold hearted (metaphorically and literally)

The cool thing is that this is actually how a frozen heart worked in the original snow queen. Lydia took Frozen back to its roots with this one.
yes but Anna didn't know what had happened when they were kids.

Great minds think alike!
But the funny thing is there is a small bit of that joy left, when she dances so joyfully before she confronts elsa, but it's a totally different type of joy. It's revelling in deciding to finally take control and take revenge on the one who hurt her.

Anna making Elsa bow to her was genuinely something I wasn’t expecting. Props to sending shivers down my spine!

Actually, Anna's blue is a more blueish shade than Elsa's, which is a bit more green. Idk, am I the only one who can see that?
It’s a nice play on Colour
at the same time, Elsa was purple at first.
And of course, the heir slowly draining of colour until she reaches her final pure white form.
Actually not course is curse
I just found these and... I'm in complete awe. Makes you really realize how easy it would've been for the heros to turn villains if they gave into the neglect and pressure of their roles and just threw their moral compass to the wind
Same! My first one was fall Wendy bird fall and DAMN! All these motives are scarily possible and I love it!!!
I love how Anna's ice powers are sharp and pointed, like fragmented glass, whereas Elsa's ice is smooth and pure. It shows how they relate to their powers, while reflecting on their motivations.

I think Anna works better as the villain than Elsa.

I love the idea of turning anna into the snow queen instead, and bringing a whole new meaning to the movies title by doing so.

As someone who's studied hundreds of antagonist's since just mid twenty-sixteen, it's rare a thing that a fan-remake of a character inspires me anymore. This was incredible, please never forget that you're an artist dear.
have you seen mirabel villain song from the same artist? It's just as good :)
@@lukavashakidze925 I've been watching Lydia for a long while. i just wanted to compliment what I believe is her best video so far.
@@hemoliadon5319How do you effectively study antagonists? And what makes this rendition of Anna so special?
@@Artist-128 I mean it's a combination of what's effective, what's innovative and what fits your audience.
Essentially how people fawn over hot villains...

Poppy?
@@fangirl3323 sort of pop music type, I didn't explain very well.
I love how natural these villian twists are. Because from Anna’s perspective she didn’t really think Elsa loved her. She had no reason to. So it makes sense she could choose this route. Edit: thanks for the likes!
A lot better handled compared to the actual twist villain reveal
I love how natural they all feel. Not even changing the character much, if at all
Idk, she found out earlier in the story that Elsa was staying away to protect her. And if she didn't care for Elsa's approval anymore, why wouldn't she have let her go, and killing everyone immediately seems like a LARGE change compared to how she acted throughout the whole movie. What I rlly loved was that when ever Anna walked the floor turns to ice and that was js such a cool affect!
I love when Anna talks to Elsa at 1:56-2:01 saying...surely you couldn't have seen this going any other way. It's really ironic and the lyrics and voices even the animations are incredible!
It’s kinda funny because it did go a different way
Anna so deserves something like this!
I wish Anna had gotten more
@@BioLivbanonYou know what, agreed, I woulda liked Frozen way more if Anna became the twist villian instead of Hans.
So Elsa remains in Arendelle, her grief turning to madness
A queen of ice in her frozen kingdom...watching over her frozen subjects...haunted by the calls of the doomed princess

'bow down its coronation day' is literally perfect, not talking about elsa's literal coronation but Anna's.
Whenever she sings the line, "For the first time in forever" I get goosebumps with the way she twists the sound.
the change from "For the first time in forever" to the "Do you wanna build a snowman" is amazing
"I've run out of chances, and you've run out of time." Is such a hard line
The villain pacing around the hero, taunting them while they're incapacitated is such a fantastic trope. Its peak arrogance and I love it!
"Get down and bow, its Coronation Day!" Is also a fire line.
my fav line is the callback to do you want to build a snowman.
At the end, Anna won because she had nothing to loose. Elsa, who still loves her sister might have held back a little.
She knows what she’s doing is wrong. She knows it was nobody’s fault. But she had enough. She had enough to be the nice girl.

Good to know you noticed it too
“I just wanted a friend!!!” Is sooo relatable right now😭😭😭 I’m in a strained relationship with my best friend and she doesn’t want to be my “best” friend, I thought our relationship wasn’t strained but she said it is still.

Good eye there
I love how at 1:25 Anna's hand looks almost reminiscent to a smoking gun. I also really like how Anna is more like the evil Ice Queen that Elsa was originally based off of.
