Thanks a lot if you respond to this comment and thank you for your huge, high professional and useful work here on TH-cam!
I would stay with E5-2640 V3 for as long as it keeps up with your tasks, then upgrade entire platform, but if you badly want to stay with X99 then E5-2667 V4 is a nice option.

When using Chinese X79/X99 motherboards there is always a chance of instability. There is also a chance to get extra issues by unlocking turbo boost, but in most cases it's just fine.

Hello! Do you know if this motherboard has ARGB pins? I'm thinking of using it in the sharkoon Rev300 case. But I don't know if it will work with ARGB.
I'm bought this motherboard recently and would like to use a bios from your Mi899 tool. For the life of me, I can't get the pcie x4 port to work. I have tried every IIO config I can think of, swapped m.2 slots, disabled SATA etc but nothing I do will allow an x4 card detect in that slot. what is it shared with?
@@Miyconst CPU is well seated, I never considered a hardware issue, I just assumed the port was being shared with something else and that's why it wasn't working.
Do you remember which SATA port is shared with the m.2 slot? There's a very interesting behaviour with Intel Optane H10; when the m.2's sata pins are shared with a SATA slot, you will get the Optane part showing up 100% of the time (rather than 50/50 when not shared).
@@MiyconstIntel H10 is 2 SSDs in 1, but only certain motherboards (Intel core 8th - 10th gen iirc) see it as 2 different drives. All others will only see 1 drive, and it's randomly picked on boot. i jst followed recently best revies iv seen abt a motherboard. pls with this motherboard and an E5 2666 v3 cpu is turbo boost possible without touching the bios ?
Turbo Boost is possible, Turbo Boost Unlock requires BIOS modding. E5-2666 V3 with no BIOS modding goes up to 3.3 GHz on all cores, it's not bad, if you don't want to bother with BIOS update.
I used this motherboard with e5 2678 v3 , 32 GB DDR4 RAM and RX 6700 XT . What do you think about the MACHINIST MR9A Pro V2 ? do you plan to include this board in your listing in the Mi899 application ?
So far I don't have plans to test V2, but as far as I know, it's exactly the same board, just a different look.
@@Miyconst Thanks for answering,
I have received this board (v2) a few days ago and I am waiting to receive an E5 2696 v3.
For now I have been able to perform (thanks to your tutorials) with the dumped BIOS the TBU with undervolting -70 -50 for my current E5 2670 v3
Previously I had the Machinist RS9 with this processor and having tried the same processor on both boards I have to say that for now I don't appreciate big changes in performance, although I do in temperature
Can you suggest me the proper parameters for the undervolt of the E5-2696 v3?
@@mcrip2011 there are no universally applicable undervolting values for all CPUs, each CPU is individual, and the best value for each CPU is different. 99% of the CPUs can handle -50/50mv, 70% of the CPUs can handle -70/50, 50% of the CPUs can handle -90/50 and only about 20% can handle -100/50.
I bought an MR9A Pro, and in your review you mentioned the 8M-F BIOS. Is the MR9A's default BIOS really that bad?
My motherboard came with a really bad BIOS, but I can't speak about yours.
Thank you for the intersting review,
Plz, which Motherbord is better between x99rs and x99Mr9a pro ?
As I have said in the video, X99-MR9A is significantly better.
@@Miyconst Thanks a lot sir,
You make a great job
Hello! Miykonst! Great work!! Is there No slot for wifi card? Did not notice that.
No, there is no. You can use PCI-E X1 expansion WiFi card though.
Very helpful video - great detail
Hello @Miyconst, so on this MR9A, with the modified BIOS, correct me if I'm wrong but I should be able to put on a x16 NVME to PCIE expansion card with 4 x4 NVME on it and they will all work with full PCIE 3.0*4 speed ?
I cannot guarantee that. The PCI-E bifurcation should work but as with any other Chinese product it's a lottery.
Your videos are awesome! 👌
Great video as always 😌
Hello, all the features of the card continue working even using the bios of another? Sorry for the question, but I'm new to this subject.
Yes, it works better with X99-8M-F BIOS.
good night, the MR9A bios works on the MR9A PRO, the bios are the same, thank you.
Thank you for the info.
Thanks for the review
Do you think Crossfire would work with this motherboard using two compatible AMD GPU's?
Yes, it would, but it's pointless.
@@MiyconstOK thanks for reply, Miyconst!
Hi Miyconst!
At the moment my Mr9a work with E5-2640 v3, but in the future I would like to upgrade the CPU and change the current with the E5-2667 v4.
I will use this computer for studying, watch some streaming content and emulate some PlayStation 2 games.
After reading the information above, what do you advise me? Keep the current CPU or upgrade in future?
In case of upgrade, the VRM of Mr9a can perform well without an excessive heating with 2667 v4 and without turbo boost?
Thanks a lot if you respond to this comment and thank you for your huge, high professional and useful work here on TH-cam!
I would stay with E5-2640 V3 for as long as it keeps up with your tasks, then upgrade entire platform, but if you badly want to stay with X99 then E5-2667 V4 is a nice option.
@@Miyconst thank you for you opinion!
If price of 2667v4 goes to price of V3, upgrade isn't bad idea. But this give u maybe year or max two to update to new system.
What a good man. Like your Videos so much an i stand with Ukraine.
Thank you for the support!
Nice! I will buy one right now!
Hello, I have a MR9A PRO board, my question is what bios do you recommend to do turbo boost with mi899? I was thinking about the MR9A version but I have my doubts
I did not test the Pro version, thus I can't guarantee the compatibility, but as far as I know, it's the same motherboard, just slightly different look.
Fantastic content as always. Would you say E5-2698V3 (16C, 135 watts TDP) is a good match for this board?
E5-2698 V3 would be a bit of a stretch for this board, but I would still do it with extra fans over the VRM zone.
@@Miyconst Thanks - which CPU do you recommend as a better match ? Maybe an E5-2680V4 ? My present pc is E5-2680V2 om a Jginyue X79 board and I'd like to get some real performance increase in multii-hread use.

@@karlsonkab51 X99 is a perfect toy if you enjoy tweaking PCs. For the RAM, I would suggest to pick SK Hynix or Samsung ECC REG memory, four identical modules.
Hello!!! I do you think the model MR9A pro has the same feactures and the same unlock procedure ?
Yes, I think so, but I can't guarantee that, since I did not test the board myself.
With the i7 5820k will the first x16 pci-e slot (which runs at x8 lanes) work with 8 lane cards like the rx 6600?
No. It doesn't.
Another excellent review
Hello once again. I am looking for Turbo unlock as well, The 8M-F bios file that I would select is the Stock Huananzhi X99-8M-F, TP, TU PEI -50/50mv ? Or can the E5 2666 V3 cpu handle higher settings .rom? Which would you select with the MR9A with a 2666 V3? Thank you my friend.
I would go with -50/50, it's the safe default option.
@@Miyconst Excellent! Thank you Sir...
Hi Miyconst! Is it still recommended to change the factory BIOS of this motherboard to X99-8M-F, TP BIOS?
Yes, I would still do that.
@@Miyconst Thank you for your reply!
One more question I want to be sure of, can I plug an M2 sata SSD into the top M2 slot?
@@istvanbodnar8710 I cannot guarantee that, the latest revisions come with two NVMe slots.
Hello,
I have one question, when unlocking turbo boost for the 2666v3, using the 8M-F bios on the MR9A couldn't possibly lead to instabilities or a problem?
Thanks a lot for your work. You are the ultimate reference for the Xeon's platform. Kudos!
When using Chinese X79/X99 motherboards there is always a chance of instability. There is also a chance to get extra issues by unlocking turbo boost, but in most cases it's just fine.
Hi,
does the board also have a 5V ARGB connector for the RGB lighting from a be quiet! - Pure Rock 2 FX ?
No, it doesn't.
I have I7 3770S paired with gtx 1060 6gb.
I was thinking about getting a xeon setup from aliexpress. I found a motherboard machinist X99 MR9A PRO MAX. which it look promising motherboard with nearly all the features. I am aiming to 1080p gaming on 1060gb but in sometime I want to run some vr machines from time to time.
So do you think the this X99 MR9A PRO MAX paired with E5 2680 V4 and 32 gb of ram is it a good deal for 150$ or better to invest that money in high end new gen motherboard with entry level cpu like i3 or r3 ryzen cpu.
If you can afford it - go for i3-12100 or Ryzen 5 5600 with 16 GB of RAM instead. Xeon is only good of your budget is really tight.
Hello! Do you know if this motherboard has ARGB pins? I'm thinking of using it in the sharkoon Rev300 case. But I don't know if it will work with ARGB.
All Chinese X79/X99 motherboards don't have A-RGB pins.
I'm bought this motherboard recently and would like to use a bios from your Mi899 tool. This video shows to use Huananzhi x99-8mf bios but mi899 says that x99-8mf has B85 chipset while my MR9A (non-pro) has Q87. you think it should work or should i not flash it? The board has exact layout compared to the MR9A you reviewed here. I'm taking responsibility, just need your opinion. Thanks!
As far as I know, B85, Q85, Q87, Z87 chipsets have intercompatible BIOS. I did such cross flashes, but of course can't guarantee that your experience will be the same.
it worked fine just how your experience was. Thanks!@@Miyconst
For the life of me, I can't get the pcie x4 port to work. I have tried every IIO config I can think of, swapped m.2 slots, disabled SATA etc but nothing I do will allow an x4 card detect in that slot. what is it shared with?
Maybe you just have a defective motherboard or CPU is not seated well?
@@Miyconst CPU is well seated, I never considered a hardware issue, I just assumed the port was being shared with something else and that's why it wasn't working.
Do you remember which SATA port is shared with the m.2 slot? There's a very interesting behaviour with Intel Optane H10; when the m.2's sata pins are shared with a SATA slot, you will get the Optane part showing up 100% of the time (rather than 50/50 when not shared).
Sadly I don't remember which exact port is shared. What do you mean with 50/50? System doesn't see it or what?
@@MiyconstIntel H10 is 2 SSDs in 1, but only certain motherboards (Intel core 8th - 10th gen iirc) see it as 2 different drives. All others will only see 1 drive, and it's randomly picked on boot.
But when I put it into Machinist x99 K9 (had SATA m.2 slot filled already)? The small fast SSD was loaded by Windows 100% of the time. Removed the SATA m.2, and then it randomly picked again.
@@kansax8253 aha, I see, thanks for the explanation, I don't have experience with these weird Intel Optane SSDs so can't say much.
After watching a ton of your great videos, I bought the Green and black look X99 MR9A with E5 2666 V3 CPU and 16gb of matching Machinist DDR4 also. 3 SSD 240gb drives case mounted. I have a ATI RX 5500 XT 8GB card I am going to run with the setup. I hope this is going to be a Monster gamer PC for me.
A question for you if you may know? My power supply is a older Thermaltake Black Widow W0319RU 850 W ATX 12V v2.3, EPS 12V v2.91 CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply. Will this supply run the board, CPU and video card I explained?, The ATI does have the external power connections. Thank you so much for your amazing hard work!
That's a good power supply and in ideal conditions it should run your combo with no issues, but since the PSU is old, I can't guarantee that it didn't get any damages during its lifespan. Still, most likely, you will be just fine.
@@Miyconst Thanks so much! I have owned the black widow since brand new so it's been running a 775 Tpower I45 board with quad core 6600 , 3 barracuda drives, dvd writer , 3 - 230mm fans being my case is a old cooler master HAF 932. Thanks for all you do...

@ Miyconst I recently bought a 3060M GPU which I wanted to test with this motherboard. The problem comes when starting the PC. It does not give a video signal. I have never modified its BIOS but I have doubts if modifying it would solve the problem. When the board starts it gives 8 beeps. Could you tell me if these types of boards are compatible with these motherboards? These videos are really interesting for those of us who like this type of topic. thank you.
I have never tested RTX 3060/3070M, but I know that these GPUs have compatibility and driver issues, thus I don't recommend them. Modifying the BIOS won't help here, getting a better BIOS might help, but there are non for this board.

About the smart fan, it works with the PWM signla (voltage signal is absent in every port). So if you get a 4 pin pwm splitter, plug in 4 pin pwm fans? You get full fan control with, well, FanControl software lmao.

i jst followed recently best revies iv seen abt a motherboard. pls with this motherboard and an E5 2666 v3 cpu is turbo boost possible without touching the bios ?
Turbo Boost is possible, Turbo Boost Unlock requires BIOS modding. E5-2666 V3 with no BIOS modding goes up to 3.3 GHz on all cores, it's not bad, if you don't want to bother with BIOS update.
I used this motherboard with e5 2678 v3 , 32 GB DDR4 RAM and RX 6700 XT . Sound is intolerable levels at now. Is there any suggestion about fixing coil whine or buying a new motherboard ?
Are you sure this is the motherboard's coil whine? It could be your GPU or PSU. Anyway, if it's indeed the motherboard, then you are pretty much out of luck, only replacing the motherboard will fix it.
Just saw that they reléase the PRO V2 version. Is that mobo good like this one?
I have not tested the V2 version, but it seems to be the same, just updated appearance.
Hi. I’m unclear about this aspect. If I use DDR4-2400 with a v3 E5 processor, will there be a problem?
No problems, the speed will be DDR4-1866, DDR4-2133, or DDR4-2400, depends on your CPU's limitation.
