Souls Borne If you mean the Demon Ruins then I totally agree. I always hated how there is just a cluster fuck of Taurus Demons standing in that one spot. Looks so cheap and out of place.
And all of the demon bosses suck ass (one of them has broken hitboxes and a fuckton of health, another one forces you to fight on a tiny space 'cause the area is filled with lava, and the last one? Its just another lazy-ass reskin of the first boss).
Mindblowing to see the Depths that low. They have some of the best level design in the game, very nonlinear and interconnected, and the atmosphere is exactly what such an area should feel like. If you go without the master key you're challenged to find your way to the bonfire instead of just being given one as a freebie. There's plenty of enemy variety between hollows, the butcher, slimes, rats, basilisks, channeler and the giant rat. I guess it must all be due to curse-related PTSD.
The only thing that annoyed me in that area were the rats and their ridiculous insta-charges that can eat your poise like shit, oh and the Channeler asshole ganking you with spells and more rats.

Sorry if I sound like shit in the next few videos. Getting over a bad cold, but I'm happy I could bring you the rankings nonetheless! If the wait for this video seemed a bit long, it's because I've been working on part 2 at the same time. It'll be released Saturday before my stream! :)
For DS2, are we going based off Vanilla or SotFS? Because my opinion of areas change depending on SotFS or Vanilla. I like Vanilla Iron Keep and Shrine of Amana more, but SotFS was way better on almost all of the other areas.
I think the Great Hollow and Ash Lake are some of the most beautifully designed areas in the game but their biggest problem is that they feel pretty incomplete and kinda pointless. Great Hollow is basically just annoying platforming to get a few unique items, most notably the Chloranthy Ring. And Ash Lake is basically just there for the covenant, which is probably the least popular covenant for PvP in the entire game. Instead of just copypasting another Hydra, I wish they would've put a really difficult dragon boss fight there that you have to defeat in order to gain access to the covenant. Having a boss fight on the shores with that awesome scenery would've been so much more gratifying.
Ash lakes visual design is really good. I like the atmosphere and the lore. On the other hand I hate the great hollow, also there's the repeated hydra and those stupid clam people. Oh and the dragon dude is pretty cool.
I love the depths. The depths was probably my most memorable gaming experience not even gonna lie. That's when Dark Souls got really dark, and the terror of those toxic frogs... The enemy placement is also fantastic as it's intense and makes you scared each time you turn a corner, which is something that disappeared towards the end of this game. And then the Gaping Dragon is one of the most terrifying bosses in all of video games. The timing of this area is perfect too. It's almost right at the beginning, and I don't ever remember being as nervous as I was going through the Depths in any other gaming experience. Absolutely love The Depths.
I do too. The only real issue is the toxic dart dudes, but they never respawn after you've killed them. The poison swamp only really slows you down since poison itself is REALLY slow. Granted, I also tend to go with super glass-cannon builds until I kill the Iron Golem in Senn's Fortress, so I can usually kill the enemies quickly enough for them not to be an issue. It really suffers from just being super busy by connecting to the Depths, Valley of Drakes, AND the Demon Ruins, on top of being too dark in some places, and then throwing in the Toxic Darts make it REALLY confusing for first-timers especially. I pretty much always go through Blighttown through the Valley of Drakes with the Master key anyway.
Not sure why people like the burg so much. Sure it has good level design. But visually, it is pretty bland and generic, with it being a town/residence area. All the enemies are pretty generic and don’t have anything to them at all. (Except for the hellkite drake surprise and black knights) and the boss is almost the same as asylum demon.
The first time I played dark souls was the remastered version and in the dukes archives someone invaded me and started moving all of the stairs and it fucked me up so bad lmao. It was a good experience though tbh.
Blighttown definitely blows when playing through it blind, but isn't too bad once you know what to expect and where everything is. There's much worse areas in the game for sure lol.
Honestly the run up to the first Bonfire is the worst part in my opinion because A, those toxic spitting dick heads and B, it takes a long time getting back to Blighttown from the Depths Bonfire. The rest of Blighttown is kind of a guilty pleasure for me. Lost Izalith and Tomb of the Giants are worse mechanically although Anor Londo gave me a fair bit of shit as well!
@Good Hunter To me was the opposite: fighting the enemies was not an issue, but navigatting that horrible level layout made me want to poison whoever designed it. The one thing preventing that level from being the worst, aside from ToG as a whole being the most abominable thing to come out of Japan, was the swamp where you could farm slugs for titanite chunks.
I remember getting cursed in Ash Lake and Great Hollow on my first playthrough... This was at a point where I hadn't even killed Quelaag yet so you can imagine how prepared and happy I was.
Today I almost got fucked because I forgot to get the repairbox and my baller swag sword was at risk at the first bonfire in blightown and the only other weapon I had was a shitty plus 3 scimitar and I know it was a waste of titanite to upgrade the scimitar I got to the second bonfire took the shortcut to firelink and got to andre this isn't about the difficulty of blightown but my own stupidity.
I'm playing on the 360 and the only issue I have with it is the frame rate. Well, that and the fact that getting out is easier if you go back up to the Depths rather than taking the lift, at least for me anyway.
i dont understand the reasoning behind blighttown feeling like sewers considering you go through the depths right before which is literally meant to be sewers
That's because the pits which run up to the reskin smelter demon and the gank squad boss exist. Funny how the dlcs all brought the best and the worst areas on dark souls 2
We should have two frigid outskirts, one for the normal and one for the sotfs version So I could give the Sotfs version a 1 and the normal version -10 The blizzard phases in the normal version are alot longer and more frequent, a.k.a. MORE BULLSHIT!
Clearly depends on personal experience. I didn't exactly spoil myself for the location, but I've heard horror stories about Blighttown, so by the time I actually entered it I'd been grinded af, already visited the totg and had a Ring of Fog. In the end I quite literally waltzed through it, although I can see how it could be a nightmare for many people, especially if fps really dropped so much on consoles.
Yeah, I didn't mind going through that part. It's actually pretty good. Loved the way it's constructed with the scaffolding but one thing is the lift, that's just bullshit.
The reason why the depths really gave me Game Cancer was because I forgot that Dark Souls had that curse mechanic that halves your health, so I was incompetent to buy a purging stone, and when I did get cursed, I as ready to fucking shoot myself, because I had backtrack ALL THE FUCKING WAY back to that god damn overconfident shit weed of a character who contributes jack shit to the story.
I hate the Depths because it's a freaking disgusting area, and the enemies are all basically super easy if you're careful about getting cursed, even the boss. THOSE FREAKING THINGS THAT DROP ON YOUR HEAD AND EAT YOU UGGHHH *vomits*
3:20 The first time I ever got to this area I was in way more trouble than you would think because of one simple little problem I couldn’t figure out how to get the lantern to work. And while you’d think that that doesn’t make any sense and that it’s extremely easy keep in mind that I kept equipping it to my weapon arm and for some reason it only lights up in your shield hand. So we spent a very long time and they’re slowly inching my way through their straining my eyes on the screen trying to find those blowing eyes so I do have a shot at not getting creamed.
I really like Duke's Archives (though I consider it separate from Crystal Cave). The way the enemies are laid out in the main rooms presents the kind of tactical challenge I enjoy in these games.
Not gonna lie I like Tomb of the Giants, if for no other reason than the atmosphere and enemies. Slowly walking through the darkness just to see one of those skeleton dogs peak into the light, just standing there, breathing, was probably one of the the spookiest moments in the entire game and something I'll never forget.
For Dark Souls 2 Areas: The best for me was Frozen Elyum Loyce, absolutely beautiful scenary and enemies with amazing atmosphere that takes you inside the game to experience every single bit of stress and emotion. Worst area, although i struggled in shrine of amana, but it wasnt as bad as the gutter. A reskinned blighttown with shittier enemies and easier to get lost. Terrible place followed by another terrible black gulch.
6:00 oh my god...this one time a bunch of buds and I were doing pass and play on this game, and mind you, none of us had really played dark souls 1 until then. I was running around aimlessly in firelink and by total accident ended up going here. We got over to where the phantoms were and just about shit ourselves. "HOLY SHIT GUYS I CAN'T FUCKING KILL THEM, BOOK IT THE FUCK OUTTA HERE!!!" Still one of my fondest memories of this game and hanging with my pals lol.
Places Crystal Caves n' Duke's Archives into One, due to Crystal Caves being Small Doesn't Place Darkroot Basin with Darkroot Forest... despite Darkroot Basin being Small Mmmmmmmm
Honestly areas like Blighttown, Tomb of the Giants and New Londo Ruins are awesome. They really fit the setting, lore and place they are in the map. If you go deep down in the earth, you'd hardly expect there to be light. If you go into a down below the sewers, well... you'd pretty much expect it to look like Blighttown. New Londo Ruins was just haunting and the atmosphere so eerie, it really felt like a dead place - the lack of bonfires was annoying, sure, but it also fit the whole "dead place" lore so I can't really complain about that either. The only two areas I really am not so fond of are Lost Izalith, which is just a total mess (how did anyone seriously vote for that as "best area"?), and the Demon Ruins, which are not even that bad and just feel unfinished and have some lacking boss fights. That really speaks to the overall quality of the world in DS1.
Undead Parish is actually one of my favourite areas, primarily because of the church itself. There's something very affecting about fighting your way through an unassuming, innocent church. I'm pretty sure it's 90% of the reason I find empty churches and castles really atmospheric, and I often find myself thinking "Damn, this place could be a Dark Souls area."
"Without further ado, let's jump in with Blighttown." Hah, nice one! I don't even remember how I voted by now, but I am pretty sure I rated Lost Izalith as the worst, but not even that area rated a 1/10. To be honest, Lost Izalith DOES have some content that makes it memorable for good reasons, namely the climaxes of Siegmeyer and Solaire's tragic stories and the final battle with Kirk. Likewise, I was surprised the Depths rated as low as it did, because I actually spent quite a lot of time down there (usually farming Large/Green Titanite Shards from the Slimes outside the bonfire room with Chaos Firestorm), but on reflection it IS boring, irritating (you mentioned the rats, dogs, slimes and torch hollows but COMPLETELY forgot the BASILISKS!) and doesn't really serve any purpose- at least Blighttown serves as the greatest test of your resolve to that point and the area where the game just comes clean and tells you "I hate you and I want you to die". Also, aside from rescuing Laurentius and meeting Domnhall there's NOTHING of any story relevance down there, it's just a transitional area. I do love the boss, though.
@@JasonDoe1000 5 years late my b but I quite love blighttown its challenging but very rewarding and people conplaining about poison arent prepared its not much health being taken... Toxic can fuck off but thats it... The gutter can suck my dick fuck that area though I do see your reason
Fun fact, getting your pyromancy flame ascended gives it an A rank param bonus with intelligence, while pyromancy flame reinforces up to ascended +5, the param bonus keeps pyromancy spells boosted, so they don't become obsolete, but only if you get it ascended
Woo been waiting for this one Demod. Also I know you're a busy man and all but I do have a couple of suggestions for video themes in regard to the optional bosses. There are a lot of optional bosses in SoulsBorne series as you know, especially in Bloodborne so I think it'd be pretty cool if you made a list ranking them either based on like their difficulty, coolness, or whether you should skip fighting them or not. You've probably already thought about this idea but if not you could save this theme for down the road, I look forward to more of your videos and can't wait to see what you have in store for us next. Have a great day :D
Not a bad idea at all! I'm pretty booked on ideas for the next two months, but I'll definitely put this on my brainstorming list for the future. Thanks Ricardo!
Just started DS after being too intimidated by the difficulty for years and I'm having a blast. I heard all the horror stories about Blighttown and was surprised how easy my time there was. Until I went to the Ash Lake cause I wanted that Dragon Greatsword I'd heard about from friends. I got cursed and getting out of Blighttown was hell. Took me around two hours, I think, to finally push through. Most of that was because I had no idea where I was going. Still having fun, but damn did I have to take a step back from the game for a bit during all that.
I didn't have too much of a problem with lost izalith, personally. Blighttown sucks dick though. The only big downer in lost izalith is the bed of chaos, which is the most bullshit boss I have ever encountered in Dark Souls.
I'm actually glad blightown is above quite a few other areas. I personally like the area. yes darts are annoying, yes the falls sucked, but as you said it really encompasses the feel of souls. If it wasn't for the frame problems the winding way down is pretty cool.
Wow, I'm not saying everyone else is wrong and I'm right, but I was seriously expecting Sen's Funhouse to be within this half of the list. I remember putting it as my least favourite area during the vote, but maybe I'm just unlucky with it. That or I need to git gud.
I’m playing through dark souls 1 for the first time and am in blighttown atm. I was shocked to see the depths so low, I loved the section and was probably the best one so far. Also, can someone explain what this curse thing is cause I never got cursed in the depth
Getting cursed had to do with those frog-looking enemies in the lower part of the depths. The curse itself happens when you stand in the mist they spray for too long and your character is instantly petrified. Personally I was indifferent to the depths when I went through them. I found myself going in circles at certain moments which was frustrating, but for the most part the enemies weren’t too tough and exploring was enjoyable. I’m also playing through ds1 for the first time and I just got to Anor Londo. Good luck man.
@@austinmoore9336 thanks, I experienced being cursed for the first time but it was in the tree in blighttown, I had to run all the way back to the bell gargoyle arena and buy the stone. I’m also in anor londo atm and am fighting the boss. Good luck with them :)
I love blighttown! Well, I hate that I love to hate blighttown. It was a frustrating area to go through but it feels great to reach the ground floor's bonfire.
Hey Dmod! I recently found your videos and I honestly have a hard time NOT watching them while I game. Your commentary is hilarious and even moreso hilariously accurate to the content! Keep it up Sunbro.
I'm a little surprised to see the Depths so far down, honestly. Or maybe I'm just weird for liking the area, I dunno. Anyway, glad to see you continuing these, Demod. :)
Kinda a late comment but I decided to watch this video again! I love your videos so much, especially after playing Bloodborne! I'm now hyped to play all the Dark Souls games! But I wanted to throw a suggestion out there for a video I would love to see! How about ranking all Soulsborne/Darkblood/Demondarkbloodshadows boss themes?? I've never seen that done! And I think it would be quite interesting to rank boss themes. From all the games and then all together. This was just something I would love to see, but I'm always excited to see another video!
All the dark souls 2 areas are painfully average imo. There's a few bad ones like the gutter, and both Rat covenant areas, but there's not really anything great, even in the dlc.
Drangleic castle is, one of the better areas, but thats barely pushing above average. The DLC's really weren't that great, but maybe I've been spoiled by Artorias of the Abyss, which was amazing. They're still better than the base game, at the very least
When I saw lost izalith at last spot I was happy. But then depths came after and I immediately realised that this list actually is not worst to best areas but just most frustrating ones to least.
You know, the more I think about it, the sillier it is that you put the Crystal Cavern together with the Duke's Archives when they're TOTALLY different areas (and the Crystal Cavern isn't THAT small), but you kept the Oolacile Sanctuary separate from the Royal Wood when it's literally a tunnel with a bonfire, a boss arena that's a large round area with water on the ground, and the ruins area with another bonfire, an NPC and a handful of items. Yeah it's gorgeous, but the consistency is lacking here.
I can't wait for the ranking video of Dark Souls 2's area list . Mainly because I can't wait for you to roast and get salty on the the Frigid Outskirts (seriously fuck that area).
Anyone new to dark souls remastered permanently go to Ash lake and farm the giant mushrooms there while using the dragon scale you get perfectly 1000 souls per big mushroom, Ash lake is the best starter place my best record getting there is 18:51 getting to the stone dragon without dying best to rest at blight town and make your way toward Ash lake
Hi I just wanted to say that I appreciate the effort you are making to go back to dorm thing you didn't want to do and you truly do make some of the consistently greatest content on TH-cam.
Well, this really shows how much I disagree with the general opinions of the community. All the areas that are actually interesting and hostile gameplay-wise got a very low ranking, while those that are little more that settings where you can fight enemies on a plain flat field are yet to come... "If the solution isn't obvious, then the area is bad and bullshit."
randomguy6679 Lost izalith is rushed, that I can agree with. There are obvious design errors like missing textures and that lava that makes it impossible to see. The developers even said it's unfinished. The Tomb of Giants on the other hand is a very well done area. There is complexity to the level design, unique enemies and a mechanic that rewards exploration of previous areas. The oppressing darkness makes you take a different approach to combat. It is a well designed area, if only it were a bit longer...
Honestly, I actually enjoy Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith. (Bed of Chaos, Asylum Demon reskin, and lava glow notwithstanding) I love how much of a badass I feel when I'm slaughtering Capra and Taurus Demons with 2-3 hits and I always enjoyed fighting in long forgotten/destroyed cities in videogames henceforth my love for the two areas. Also the lore of how Gwyn's silver turned black knights struggled and fought against the demons of Lost Izalith just makes me feel even more godlike when I'm ripping through them solo.
in my opinion, Blighttown rank is legit, sure the poisonous enemies are annoying, but it's knid of straight forward, while you can get lost in Tomb of Giants, the Depths and some other areas, and if you die in these, it can be hard to get back your souls because you might lose your way again, also Blighttown can be linked to Firelink Shrine, so it's nice to know that you can get out of it
"I looped in Crystal Caves with Duke's Archives cause I didn't think it was that big of an area, and it felt like an extension of the Archives" **next on the list:** "Oolacile Sanctuary!"
i went into blighttown for the first time expecting hell, but i didn't die once. The poison takes a while to kill you, and the enemies are weak. And shiva sold me cool things. The depths was a different story. There's like 5 minibosses in there, poison rats, curse frogs, and if you get cursed, the poison from the rats will kill you. And there are no bonfires excepting the one at the beginning.
I think one of the main reasons blight town might be considered the worst areas in dark souls 1 is because unlike a lot of the other commonly agreed on 'terrible areas', blight town is before you get the ability to teleport between bonfires. In later frustrating and bad areas you can return to other bonfires and get some stuff from merchants or farm items or whatever you want. When you get to blight town though if you ever want to return to a previous area for any reason (needing more moss, more humanity, wanting to play a different area to have some actual fun) then you have to climb up a whole bunch of ladders to find your way back, and then when you want to proceed with the game you'll have to return all the way back down into it. It seems like a huge hassle to leave and return to the area before you get to the point where you can teleport, and that fact might be why plenty put it as the worst area over other areas that might be worse than it for other reasons.
For blighttown I have mixed feelings, with the rusted iron ring the bottom of blighttown is my favorite area but no matter what upper blighttown can go to hell
I rather like the terrifying areas like the tomb and Blighttown and the Depths. The only thing I don't like is bland stuff. Forest is pretty boring, same with the hell stuff (and I never really understood why demons figure into the game). Anor Londo and the Archives are pretty dull too. But I definitely don't know that I would rate the tomb, Blighttown, and Depths over all of the ones I didn't mention, most of which were great.
Even though I like Dark Souls II, when completing the survey I realized that there is not a single area in the main game that i would gladly give a ten (i haven´t played the dlcs so I won´t judge those)
I find that Blighttown is more of a problem when you've just come out from taking out the Gaping Dragon and are either too overconfident or too unwilling to homeward bone back to the bonfire and re-do the Depths. Yeah, the first Blighttown bonfire is easy enough to get to, but when you've just been smacked around by the Gaping Dragon, it's a really rough way to reach your next checkpoint.
Geez, when I heard about New Londo ruins, I was half expecting a town full of burning buildings, kind of like a combination of oolacile township and old yharnam. Even when I learned that the people of New Londo were drowned, therefore it wouldn't make sense for the town to be on fire, I thought it nonetheless.
Man I love brighttown one your first play through it gives you the wanderer cloths which is your first cool cloths in the game and the area was chillin if you had purple moss/moss clumps
I don’t know if I’ve said this already but I can’t find a comment from myself so I’ll say it just incase. I think the demon ruins are severely underrated. Yes it’s not the best area by any stretch of the imagination and it’s connected to the bed of chaos but that doesn’t automatically mean it’s a bad level. I personally love the design choice of you fighting Capra and Taurus demon again. When I one shot the hoard of Capra demons at the beginning I truly felt my character’s growth because I barely managed to defeat the Capra demon as a boss. Plus I think seeing this once great city fall to ruin is a sight to behold. Yes some of the enemies in this area are annoying but that can be said for oh I don’t know…. The majority of the areas in the entire series? I know I’ll probably be alone on this one but I enjoyed the demon ruins, the area gives matches the tone of ruin perfectly, slaying the demons you once struggled with in scores gives you a huge sense of accomplishment, and I’ll gladly stick up for this area.
I think the big problem most people have with Demon Ruins - myself included - is that it's just so blatantly unfinished, much like Lost Izalith. I agree that fighting bosses as normal enemies can be very fun and reflective of your character's growth. However, the way they just spammed like 12 Taurus demons right next to each other makes it feel like a testing room. And, other than that, there is barely anything to that area other than that single staircase and that one tiny side path where you can find some underwhelming collectible.
You always have so much HP on your characters... my first play through i had 15 vitality and pumped End, Dex and Int to 40, so i was amazed when i saw how high the HP bar could go
Tbh I love Tomb of the Giants, it’s honestly one of my favorite areas in the game. The torch makes it more than bearable and it keeps you on your toes with those fucking giant dogs.
Undead Burg and Parish are some of my fave areas just because they're so chill. I love to be able to enjoy killing easy-ish enemies before getting into the harder guys. Makes starting a new character really enjoyable
Coming back to this in the Remaster after having suffered through the console era of this game, I am really enjoying a lot of the areas down low on the list. Blighttown actually looks quite beautiful when you can see the surroundings and New Londo looks absolutely stunning and ominous. While Lost Izalith still looks unfinished, it is now not as bad as before as the improved lighting seems to make it easier on the eyes. Bed of Chaos still is shiity as usual though.
Hot take time, I'm a big fan of both the depths and Blighttown, The Depths has a great design, using its tight narrow turns to throw little jump scares that can kill you if you don't gather your barrings, the items are really good, the Basalisks sucks, but you only have to take them on when you fail a jump. And Blighttown has incredible design, a rickety, thrown together, DIY, hodge podge town with her only residents being the disgusting creatures left to rot and fester there, plus some good items, NPC's, Mildred, and a useful skip for speed runs or those who actuallyhate it. Plus both have great bosses.
My problem with the demon fortress, is the fact that the enemy placement makes it look like a test room. It looks way too unatural.
Souls Borne If you mean the Demon Ruins then I totally agree. I always hated how there is just a cluster fuck of Taurus Demons standing in that one spot. Looks so cheap and out of place.
BHM Productions Exactly
And all of the demon bosses suck ass (one of them has broken hitboxes and a fuckton of health, another one forces you to fight on a tiny space 'cause the area is filled with lava, and the last one? Its just another lazy-ass reskin of the first boss).
Thank god it’s so easy to cheese the centipede demon. You get to skip 1/4 of the lost Izalith bosses. That’s good enough for me to keep playing
Even solaire is upset!
I disagreed most strongly with the Depths. Perhaps not my favorite area, but certainly not worse than Tomb of the Giants IMO.
except the motherfucking frogs, its the perfect place to farm humanity LOL

GuitaraObscura can't forget the amazing music in that area, and the great background
And the fabulous dragon which gives you weird dragon things.
Easily my favorite area.
Having a boss fight on the shores with that awesome scenery would've been so much more gratifying.
that place was a high point for me as well.
I like Blightown
I do too Genesis. It's a love/hate relationship
theDeModcracy it's weird, I'm so used to you calling me Phillyflyers that I got confused when you called ME Genesis ha
And i like hilton
Me too it's great. New Londo on the other hand is hell
PREDICTIONS
1. Painted World
2. Anor Londo
3. Undead Burg
Bruh, that happened to me too! Lmao.
Blighttown definitely blows when playing through it blind, but isn't too bad once you know what to expect and where everything is. There's much worse areas in the game for sure lol.
Ryan Williams dukes archives is z piece of shit area.. as long as you take the entrance from Vally of Drakes, it's very easy
@Good Hunter Which I didn't knew the first time, so fuck that level either way
It seems weird.... But its one of my favourite areas.
I remember getting cursed in Ash Lake and Great Hollow on my first playthrough...
This was at a point where I hadn't even killed Quelaag yet so you can imagine how prepared and happy I was.
Blighttown is a great level actually. Its just really difficult.
I feel the same especially on first playthrough
Today I almost got fucked because I forgot to get the repairbox and my baller swag sword was at risk at the first bonfire in blightown and the only other weapon I had was a shitty plus 3 scimitar and I know it was a waste of titanite to upgrade the scimitar I got to the second bonfire took the shortcut to firelink and got to andre this isn't about the difficulty of blightown but my own stupidity.
Well, I suppose its a great level on a decent pc. On console the 15fps is just unfair.
4:56 The intro to catacombs had me laughing my ass off replaying it like 10 times
You sound surprised that there are skeletons everywhere in a place called the CATACOMBS like the catacombs in Paris
It's a joke my friend, of course there should be skellies
theDeModcracy were you surprised at first with all the skeletons?
Blakeus J I can't tell if you're being sarcastic
cole warburton I was being sarcastic since the real life catacombs have skeletons EVERYWHERE
Funny how the survey for frigid outskirts contains numbers higher than 1
Well maybe someone likes that area (and if anyone does they are emotionless robots who don't understand rage).
Keem Sama I gave it a 2 because I like snow
Or deMod wants people to troll
That's because the pits which run up to the reskin smelter demon and the gank squad boss exist. Funny how the dlcs all brought the best and the worst areas on dark souls 2
We should have two frigid outskirts, one for the normal and one for the sotfs version
So I could give the Sotfs version a 1 and the normal version -10
The blizzard phases in the normal version are alot longer and more frequent, a.k.a. MORE BULLSHIT!
I think I actually voted for Blighttown as my favorite area. It's a masterpiece if you ask me.
Clearly depends on personal experience.
I didn't exactly spoil myself for the location, but I've heard horror stories about Blighttown, so by the time I actually entered it I'd been grinded af, already visited the totg and had a Ring of Fog. In the end I quite literally waltzed through it, although I can see how it could be a nightmare for many people, especially if fps really dropped so much on consoles.
so terrible it's brilliant.
a masterpiece of shit
Yeah, I didn't mind going through that part. It's actually pretty good. Loved the way it's constructed with the scaffolding but one thing is the lift, that's just bullshit.
Never played the PS3 version but I heard the framerate was atrocious on that part, so I can understand why people hate it.
The reason why the depths really gave me Game Cancer was because I forgot that Dark Souls had that curse mechanic that halves your health, so I was incompetent to buy a purging stone, and when I did get cursed, I as ready to fucking shoot myself, because I had backtrack ALL THE FUCKING WAY back to that god damn overconfident shit weed of a character who contributes jack shit to the story.
or go back to the undead merchant sitting just before you enter the depth. it's much easier.
Yep. She sells purging stones, poison arrows, fire arrows and bunch of other stuff. I killed her in my very first play through cause i got scared :P
Tinni Debnath Lol
I hate the Depths because it's a freaking disgusting area, and the enemies are all basically super easy if you're careful about getting cursed, even the boss.

i actually love the depths, and it has one of my favorite bosses in the game
Wait a second, did you forget about The Great Hollow?
FUCK the great hollow
Great hollow is beautiful man, and gives you access to the most beautiful area on video game
Ernesto Gehrke sure it gives you access to ash lake but the great hollow itself is a absolute pain in the ass, especially before you can warp
Blight Town and Bed of Chaos gave me PTSD.
Terrible place followed by another terrible black gulch.
the gutter is blightown and tomb of giants combined
6:00
oh my god...this one time a bunch of buds and I were doing pass and play on this game, and mind you, none of us had really played dark souls 1 until then. I was running around aimlessly in firelink and by total accident ended up going here. We got over to where the phantoms were and just about shit ourselves. "HOLY SHIT GUYS I CAN'T FUCKING KILL THEM, BOOK IT THE FUCK OUTTA HERE!!!"
Still one of my fondest memories of this game and hanging with my pals lol.
Places Crystal Caves n' Duke's Archives into One, due to Crystal Caves being Small
Doesn't Place Darkroot Basin with Darkroot Forest... despite Darkroot Basin being Small
Mmmmmmmm
Just filled out the ds2 survey and remembered, fuck the iron passage.
Papa Ducknips And the frigid outskirts
I concur
and shrine of amana.
Not as bad. But it is up there.
shrine of amana and iron passage are the only areas where u can neither go pure melee not rush to the boss. it just plain sucks.
And Blighttown is an insultingly bad copy of the Valley of Defilament, an actual good area
+JasonDoe1000 Dude that is the third time I've seen you say that in this comment section xD
I have a strong opinion about that place and I'm allowed to say it^^
No it isn't, Valley of Defilament is good, the Gutter is mediocre and this one bad
@@JasonDoe1000 5 years late my b but I quite love blighttown its challenging but very rewarding and people conplaining about poison arent prepared its not much health being taken... Toxic can fuck off but thats it... The gutter can suck my dick fuck that area though I do see your reason
My TH-cam lagged right as he was talking about how frame rate in blighttown dropped super low
Can u do a ranking video on dark souls bosses soundtracks
It would be like this
#1 Gehrman
#2 Gehrman
#3 Gehrman
#4 Ludwig
And who cares for the rest
fume knight.
HetaliaHeadbanger in that case I completely agree with him.
Sif theme
5: nameless king
4: cleric beast
3: majulas theme
2: the first hunter
1: Gwyn, lord of cinder
Never clicked on a video in my notifications bar so quickly. Thanks for bringing the series back!
Ash lake is my favorite...i had goosebumps when the music started
*enters asylum demon fight*
*pulls out firebombs*
*giorno's theme plays*
WEAR THE SUNLIGHT MAGGOT, TOMB OF THE GIANTS INVASIONS ARE THE BESTTTTTTTT

''Spooky Scary Skeletons EVERYWHERE''
Okay, you caught me off guard with how you edited that and i can't stop laughing right now XD
Still having fun, but damn did I have to take a step back from the game for a bit during all that.
upload days are the best kind of days
This Video is still one of my favourite videos on youtube. The editing and commentary are just 100% enjoyable
How are the depths worse than the Demon Ruins
edit: and how does anyone think Blighttown is a worse area than Lost Izalith
I didn't have too much of a problem with lost izalith, personally. Blighttown sucks dick though. The only big downer in lost izalith is the bed of chaos, which is the most bullshit boss I have ever encountered in Dark Souls.
tbh blighttown is fine but those shitty poison dart spitter .... i fucking hate them
and the little bugs that are too high or too low to actually hit them with a sword
ShieldDivision izalith just felt incomplete. It could’ve been so much better
@ShieldDivision One reason. Dark Souls 1 frame rate drops in upper Blighttown
The screenshot capture you have for Blight Town actually makes that accursed area look pretty cool.
I love blight town lowkey it’s just kinda fun except for the toxic dart guys, other than them it’s great
Surprised that you didnt put blighttown nr 23 (Hated that place), but nice to see another ranking video!! :D
**hears "first half"** I have waited... So fucking long
I'm actually glad blightown is above quite a few other areas.
0:58 don’t insult my waifu
I love blighttown! Well, I hate that I love to hate blighttown. It was a frustrating area to go through but it feels great to reach the ground floor's bonfire.
Dark Souls 2 - Worst Area - Frigid Outskirts.....fuck that fucking place!!!!
Just found your channel. You're doing awesome work man and I really think that videos like this is why TH-cam is great.
how are crystal caves not the worst?
I dont like seath but enjoy the rest
Lost izalith bro
just filled out the survey, had to put lost Bastille at no.1. it's a area I will always remember and the lost sinner is such a badass boss.
"1 view" "5 likes"
GG, TH-cam
NuclearxToxin Dark Souls 2 is average at everything, with one exception...Sir Alonne
NuclearxToxin Come on, the DLCs were great, I loved those areas more that 90% of the main game areas
NuclearxToxin what about drangelic castle
Dragos Voinea what about fume knight :(
Drangleic castle is, one of the better areas, but thats barely pushing above average.
Can confirm. Blighttown's FPS sucks on Xbox.
Reindeer Fuckland, eh? Ooooooooh I can't wait either...
Yep Reindeer Fuckland (and Ivroy king's pets named copy and paste)
In the Sotfs version the blizzards are less frequent and you have more time inbetween, making the area actually tolerable (but not good)
Anyone new to dark souls remastered permanently go to Ash lake and farm the giant mushrooms there while using the dragon scale you get perfectly 1000 souls per big mushroom, Ash lake is the best starter place my best record getting there is 18:51 getting to the stone dragon without dying best to rest at blight town and make your way toward Ash lake
clicked so fast
Thanks Atreyu!
Atreyu Nice name
Shezmu thx
Hi I just wanted to say that I appreciate the effort you are making to go back to dorm thing you didn't want to do and you truly do make some of the consistently greatest content on TH-cam.
Well, this really shows how much I disagree with the general opinions of the community. All the areas that are actually interesting and hostile gameplay-wise got a very low ranking, while those that are little more that settings where you can fight enemies on a plain flat field are yet to come... "If the solution isn't obvious, then the area is bad and bullshit."
Same thing happened in the Demon's Souls are voting, the areas that are a bit harder and not straight forward were the last ones
Asetoni 137 wait, you actually consider lost izalith and tomb of the giants well designed areas? hahahahahahaha
Asetoni 137 not to mention "interesting"
randomguy6679 Lost izalith is rushed, that I can agree with.
Lost izalith and demon ruins where propably my favorite of the four lord soul areas
Impossible!
Man, i find i weirdly love answering surveys. Especially these ones. Really make me think back in ways i might not have otherwise.
in my opinion, Blighttown rank is legit, sure the poisonous enemies are annoying, but it's knid of straight forward, while you can get lost in Tomb of Giants, the Depths and some other areas, and if you die in these, it can be hard to get back your souls because you might lose your way again, also Blighttown can be linked to Firelink Shrine, so it's nice to know that you can get out of it
9:47 Normally I don't kill NPCs in the game beyond self-defense, but the results of that one was hillarious. Andre still got the vigor!
"I looped in Crystal Caves with Duke's Archives cause I didn't think it was that big of an area, and it felt like an extension of the Archives"
**next on the list:**
"Oolacile Sanctuary!"
4:57 Don't Give Up, Skeleton
i went into blighttown for the first time expecting hell, but i didn't die once.
2:03 Combos are one of my favorite snacks
Even though I like Dark Souls II, when completing the survey I realized that there is not a single area in the main game that i would gladly give a ten (i haven´t played the dlcs so I won´t judge those)
your videos are really entertaining 😃 keep it up man
Blithttown is a poison escalator simulator.
“Let’s jump into it with blighttown”
*lost izalith*
