My gcv170 honda starts fine, puts nice pressure out, but after about 30 seconds, it starts smoking. I changed the oil, made sure its the correct level, used a 10w30 and still smokes badly.
Depends on color of smoke. Is it black or a light blue? Black would be a carb flooding issue or maybe a choke problem. Lighter blue is oil. Oil is a bit harder but could mean a plugged crank vent or head gasket is leaking
I have a pressure washer with Subaru that smokes only when you use pull trigger to wash no smoke when ideal and not using. Pressure washer trigger checked properly filled with oil any idea why it doing this. First time out this year new gasoline was fine last time used it
It depends on the color of the smoke. If it is black then the machine is burning rich. Could be a carb problem. It is blue then there is oil being burned. Could be ring wear or bad valve guides. I would take the dipstick out and smell the oil. If it smells like gas then clean or replace the carb and change the oil.
I can’t understand why all air cooled engines don’t have a fuel cut off valve and instructions to use it Yea they can sale more engines or equipment 😢😢😢
I would imagine it is for cost and yes replacement. Stuff like this though should be common sense but the issue is most people don't have common sense. Common sense really is named poorly lol
I've had this happen to a Robin as well as a briggs. I'm very attentive to turn the fuel off on the carbs now.
Happens all the time. It's why I do the same

Yet another job well done mate!!!
I have a craftsman doing the same. But it is also spitting oil out of the exhaust
I would smell the oil and see if it smells like gasoline. If it does the carb needs to be cleaned or replaced. Could also be over filled aa well

Number one problem is over full of oil or pvc system stopped up
They hate to waste a qt so they over filled it, lolol
Could be gas in oil also
If I remember this was the first issue.
