I downloaded your map into All Trails, and did this hike on the weekend. It was a little harder than I thought it would be :) but me and my 2yr old Spaniel managed to do this. And yes, that waterfall is so amazing. I took a slightly different route on the way back, and walked across the river which I found a little easier, as the ferns were quite overgrown and my dog was struggling to walk through it.
That’s amazing! Glad you braved it. The difficult definitely depends on time of year and general conditions. I’m sure now you can appreciate how there’s several slight variations to how the route can be taken. Hope you had a great day at least :)
I've run a lot of miles round the peak district and during lockdown have really taken the time to explore new parts of the park. The River Alport is truly one of the most remote feeling locations I've ever been. Definitely a hidden gem that not many people know of.
Good evening, Wow!! Absolutely amazing drone footage, nice to see Alport Castles from above. 😍 Stunning selection of still images. The walk along the river looks amazing, will have to add that to the list. 😁 Thank you for showing us around. Have a great week. Tanny
Cannot think why I have not explored more of this area. Your route looked really interesting. I must get myself out here again soon and maybe try your route. Thanks for the inspiration. Have a great day. New Sub.
Glossop Station would be possible. However i'd actually recommend Edale station. You will then have immediate access to Kinder Scout. Hike over Kinder and down the back side, where you will eventually find yourself on Snake Pass Road and basically back at the beginning of my original route, where you can continue on to Alport Castles and with my additions to the route, loop back around over Kinder and back to Edale i have started to update the map download. will be available asap@@vvs3796
like yourself have walked miles around the peak district. but not done this one. passed that car park so many times... will stop now and definitely do this. thanks. and great photos.
Thank you Phil :) i'm glad you enjoyed it... plan to throw together some more videos as soon as i can out a little more. Plenty more of The Peaks to share with everyone
Dude, that's a brilliant video. Some of your Ariel shot are out of this world. What Drone are you using? I'm defo going to do that hike soon. Thanks for the info. 👋👍
I’m really pleased you enjoyed it. Thank you 😊 This particular video was shot using the DJI Mavic2Pro. I’d always recommend this hike to anyone. Still to this day it’s my favourite area of The Peaks. Enjoy!!
Hi, have you got coordinates or a more accurate way to find the car park / starting point please? They're in the lower right of the video at the start, but they're too blurry to read... Thanks!
Looks awesome. Once you get to Alport Castles is it worth dropping down on the footpath to Hey Ridge and back to the carpark through Lady Clough Moor to make a bit more of a circular? Thinking of doing this next week but don't know that side of the peaks.... Thanks, Dan
By all means, you could create a circular that way, it would however be a mammoth distance and potentially have to involve the A57 Snake Pass itself. Personally what I have done a few times is either simply drop into the valley, cross the river and retrace my route on the opposite side... or drop into the valley and head straight back up the other side through the pine trees and then make my way back along the opposite ridgeline so far before taking a westerly back in the direction of the car, following game trails and intuition :) pretty much as the crow flies. Admittedly there is no "path" as such but the game trails feel quite accessible and like you're not damaging the environment up there
All the photos, video and drone footage were captured whilst walking this route on several different occasions. I appreciate the drone footage provides a perspective that’s not necessarily available on foot. However, you will still appreciate very similar views of the valley as you follow the river down to Alport Castles
That specific area is known as Alport Castles. Is a little off the beaten track but well worth the effort. For a first visit I would possibly recommend the route from Ladybower Reservoir
Looks a fucking rite mission but it's now on my list of treks to do. I live in Hadfield/Glossop so on my doorstep. I've always wondered where that path led from the car park at the start. One question for you...do you think it's suitable for dogs?
In order to fully appreciate and take jut time I’d give yourself at least 6 hours. You can cut the route short at any time and head back. There is a path of sorts. The majority of the walk follows the river so pretty straight forward to stay on track
hi matthew , how are you , great video thank you , quick question if you dont mind answering , during the lockdown are we allowed now to travel to the peaks district and if so , where would you recommend for a family with young kids ?, i dont mind a bit of a adventure and it would be a day trip so morning to evening so 10km would be far more then enough , also water falls streams rivers would be a nice location for us so where would do recommend , thank you
Hello :) yes the Peak District is very much open again. For an adventure that includes rivers and waterfalls I’d recommend doing this exact walk from the video... you can stop and retrace your route at any time to control the distance. Heading up Snake Road A57 to its highest point, before it descends into Glossop. You can park road side and head North on the Pennine Way footpath. The high point on your left of the Pennine Path is the Crash Site of a WWII plane or keep heading along the path until it intersects a small river. Cross the river and immediately follow the river down the Valley. This valley is superb for river and waterfalls. Have fun :)
Real keen to follow this route but based on the google maps flythrough in the great vid by Matthew i’ve not got the confidence i’d be going in the right direction and able to stay on the correct paths. Has anyone mapped this route on an app like Strava or OSMaps which I use a lot! Cheers to anyone that can help
Hi, here is an attempt to map the route in Google Earth: earth.google.com/earth/rpc/cc/drive?state=%7B%22ids%22%3A%5B%221VonXx8keFEd4SRTevh356-Nrp7IcEPKw%22%5D%2C%22action%22%3A%22open%22%2C%22userId%22%3A%22108092043068269433167%22%2C%22resourceKeys%22%3A%7B%7D%7D&usp=sharing
The closest would be Glossop. There are rail links to Glossop but would of course all depend on where you're traveling from and how many changes. For example, looks like Manchester to Glossop is direct and Sheffield to Glossop is one change. So not too bad
@@djidroneproductions1309 also very close to this location is the “Over exposed WWII Plane crash site” You could easily pull that into your day too. Enjoy!
I’m going there soon, however, despite the fact that the video shows absolutely stunning places, the most enjoyable thing to watch for me are 2 sexy lads wearing only shorts 😆
This look amazing! I have a quick question... Is the Peak District open for trekking irrespective of the England lockdown? I am guessing the Peak District isn't in an enclosed area... Also, how long on average does it take to walk the route (there and back) that you outlined?
Yes The Peak District is open for business (as long as you’re not travelling too far to get there) This particular route is very secluded for most parts so your interaction with others would be minimal anyway. To fully enjoy the route I’d realistically allow yourself the whole day, especially this time of year with the reduced amount of daylight. There are several waterfalls and the river itself to explore and you’d want plenty of time to enjoy Alport Castles once you got there... pack up a lunch and make a day of it :)

There most certainly is. I'll see if I can throw together an updated map for a route that would be suitable. Get back to you asap :)
