I have noticed that you can taunt Yang (d-pad right) during his "come at me bro" state and he won't waste as much time. Especially true during his 2nd phase, when he goes into counter stance. You can cancel taunts by dodging with right trigger.
2 weeks ago I can't go pass Fajar now I'm already here at Yang at master difficulty. This game really requires dedication and it's really fulfilling once you get the hang of it.
@@diamonddustin7664 So that is also very useful for bringing back up your combo chain during the levels. Whenever you take a hit those go down so you can taunt to bring it back up as much as you want. If you want those score based shrine bonuses the best way is to always be at 5x score.
Yang is literally what its like to fight a big brother...once you think you're strong enough to go toe to toe they always seem stronger...yang is a mind game i was 22 when i got to him and im still trying to beat him Edit:i just kicked the shit out of yang

Went into the sanctuary at the age of 30 with some other skills and just first tried Yang :D thanks for the hints, though instead of weaving I parried his fast attacks and with the higher structure damage on parries he kinda melted himself in phase 1.
Reached Yang at age 28 without ever needing any other focus move but Sweep, so thankfully never fell into that trap. Went heavy into weapons however which seems completely obsolete with Yang so... How would you suggest building? For start to finish of a complete run? Maybe every Score upgrade with a bit of Structure Reserve?
@@getschwifty5537 I'd say it really depends on if you have to go through the entire level or just do the bosses. If you only do bosses I think a lot of structure reserve and structure damage on parries are great. Also recovering more structure on successful dodges can help.
all of the bosses become easy after practice. i used to be bad on normal difficultly but when I bumped it up it wasn’t nearly as bad. only took me an average of two tries to beat each boss.

The thing that bothers me the most about Sifu is the boss fights. You have the ability to do these really cool combinations but all the bosses block 90% of your attacks so you can only land a 2 hit combo before they block and start attacking again. Combined with the sudden difficulty spike, it ruins the flow the rest of the game has going.
You can combo the bosses, you just need to find what works. For example here on Yang, the most effective combo I’ve found is to parry, light strike, push, chasing strikes, light attack + position swap, heavy attack (immediate for push kick), then chasing trip and punch on the ground
I mean, they're called boss for a reason. They're master of the art as well. Of course they're gonna block and defend themselves better than those street goons. Hell, even the martial artist goon can defend themselves from those combo.
When I first played, I could never beat Yang. I gave up, and figured I was done. I started playing again, 3 months later, and took him down with ease. I found the parry and block were what worked with me on him. (Plus, it helps for the true ending)
Let’s go I finally beat him by parrying and staying close to him so he couldn’t use the charged fists. This game was so much fun and one of my favorites.

After beating Yang for the very first time today, I’ve found that prioritizing parries in the first stage, and dodges in the second, worked well for me. I have no idea how I’m gonna make that work when I have to spare him though. Edit: Something I didn’t get before was that you can still hurt all of the bosses for the whole of their first phase and most of the second, you just have to break their posture before they run out of health. It’s a balancing act, getting them as close as possible to running out of health as you build up their posture through strikes without crossing that line. At some point, you’ll have to only focus on parries.

Huge thanks dude, I was pressing right or left to weave and dodge and I kept getting hit randomly. dodging with just pressing down helped me a ton, Finally got the under 25 trophy and the Platinum for this game :D
So basically "Dodge, dodge, for the love of God, *DODGE!!!* " Honestly you helped me a lot. And I can't believe I'm saying this, but this made his second phase easier than his first. Which is crazy because I got to a point where I could get past his first phase by just being aggressive and got dominated in the second. Now I just whittle him down in the first and then make quick work of him in the second

@@pontusgustafsson5109 just lure him with the hold triangle move behind the corner of a table and with correct timing unleash and hit him once again with normal triangle then get back quicly so he go to the center again and repeat using the D right to make him come to u.. in second stage just search the wall cheese in tube.. and use the rain move after evade his wall stupid kick.. hope this helps u 🍻
Spam blocking the quick attacks greatly affects the oppononent structure, then you can punish. This results overall higher structure damage for each repetition.
I think the easiest "cheese" for the first stage is to go around 1 meter away from him then do the Crotch punch (Forward, Forward, Low attack). After the enemy dodges that he will try to claw you a couple of times 95% of the time. Those are extremely simple to dodge and once you dodged them use the Palm Strike (Back, Forward, Low Attack) combined with the Chasing Strikes(Low punch). That attack is unblockable and he takes massive damage to health and posture. Repeat that a dozen times and you are done.
Just beat the game. Got the true ending. And I did it at 20! The last boss took me forever. I fought him SO many times. I've lost count. Your guide helped, and I watched it maybe 3 times. At about fight 20, I just stopped caring. I went into the boss fight and started messing with him. I'd stand there and just practice weaving. If he taunted, I taunted back. I tried attacking him more, doing different moves. He stomped me, so many times. Over and over. Age 20 to Game Over. Again. Age 20 to Game Over. In knowing that my defeat was assured, I became fearless. Then, it happened, I went into a fight and had every move he could ever do seared into my muscle memory. I wasn't even trying, honestly. I went in thinking, "I want to practice his 2nd phase." So, I go in and just dookied on his face in first phase. Knocked him on his ass a good couple of times. Didn't really register yet that I had mastered the fight. Then got to the 2nd phase and, before I knew it, I had his structure bar almost full and still had 80% of my health. I went for it. If you're having trouble with any boss, just go in there and mess with them for a lifetime or three.
Honestly if you just keep tapping back you’ll dodge everything except the sweeps. You don’t even have to press Left or right and I figured this out versing him. You can honestly just hold L1 and spam back dodge To block everything in the game or Dodge except for sweeps. Figuring this out made it 10 times easier
@@zedrake update I've don't this now. Age 56! On the second stage I kept to the left hand wall which causes Yang to bounce of the wall to do a kick, dodge this and you can punish. It's a proper cheese method but it works

It's funny cause when I first played his 2nd phase I noticed I could consistently dodge and punish his leap off the wall attack but other than running away I couldn't survive and punish any of his other attacks consistently. Then I read your comment and was like oh yeah if I can get him to do the jump kick hes done for. And your right you can totally cheese him if you run away from all his other attacks and then stick to the wall. Beat him 1st try after reading your comment! This type of stuff is what I was looking for in a video on how to beat him. If I had read your comment earlier I would have save myself over an hour 😂 Thank you so much! You definitely saved me from breaking a controller and possibly a tv!
This video was beyond helpful. Before watching, Yang would take me from 35 to 70's in Phase 1. Literally the first run after watching, beat him in my 40's. You actually helped me beat this game. Thank you! Now to do it all over again.

You can cheese him. Go up close once je does that high swipe punch followed by another one. Duck the first then do that hold light punch move. He'll keep looping through that sequence. Although sometimes he'll do other moves. Just have to trigger that loop again
My left hand is still in pain from pressing L1 after the final spare fight and some trophies left. Im not as good as any of these guys but heres what worked for me with some persistence. When he makes his first swooping move - avoid….next just spam L1 for his barrage of punches… as soon as that is complete spam heavy heavy heavy till he backs off a little. …. Keep repeating this three move flow till the final is over. Avoid, parry, hit.
Honestly I am more prone to using the evade over guarding, I just feel like it's more reliable. But I'm also not a fan of the stick controls in a way because I just feel like there is too much room for error and can hold you back from perfection at times, especially in fights like this. So this was the first boss I actually focused on deflecting more.. But I haven't had as much practice on Yang so I'll see how it goes in the future.
His triple punch combo was the bane of my existence. I got used to evading by that time, but for that combo specifically, the speed required to move your thumbstick around three times is a bit obnoxious. Honestly I wish the Parry was more lenient, even if it meant nerfing Evade. Parrying is fun, it's more "crisp", it doesn't rely on weird controls, but the window is too short. It results in you taking more Structure damage, it's more risky, it doesn't work on all moves... Meanwhile, Evade+Down works on basically everything AND the counter-attack window is much more lenient. The only time I really used Parry in the game was against groups of weak enemies and Yang's flurry of fists. Evade is just too broken to risk doing anything else.
@@FadingZebra I play on keyboard and evading is easy to spam, i still get unlucky sometimes, but it's very reliable overall. Parrying i only use on regular enemies and only after the first punch, i always miss parry on the first punch, i don't know if it's me or the game.
Phase 1 In order to make Yang attack you more frequently for punish back opportunities, this is what I did. Yang would most often snap kick and make a punch. If I avoid the kick but parry/block the punch, Yang would quickly come back to you for more attacks. Otherwise, avoiding the snap kick and punch altogether would make Yang go back and forth and takes extra time.
I finally beat the sob. He is a parry boss if that helps anyone pump up the parry skill and he is relatively easy to beat you know all his moves because you use them the entire game. Your timing to parry him should come pretty natural if you are familiar with your combos.
I like how all the Sifu boss videos give conflicting advice lol. I've looked up a few for level 3 and this one and ended up figuring out myself... but this video is very useful, albeit I do agree that to beat Yang the advice is basically 'watch what he does... have good reactions'. The AI on phase one is legit.

Found out that in the first state you should use parry more often cause his move is really fast , so you can spam parry and fill his structure bar in no time. Just be careful with his sweep move (he will rush to you so it's not too hard to predict that)
I found out that, when he goes te center and calls you to fight, you can call him to you by pressing the digital directional to the right (not the analog). You will say something that provokes him into coming to you, so you dont have to do that risky punch that he always counters.
Well, this video has certainly helped me give me a semblance of hope about getting that 25 yrs trophy. I do quite well now on the first phase, but he still wrecks me on the second. I get there with 21, and he still manages to get me to 26. I'll keep trying, and hope to get a little lucky. I appreciate the commentary on the video, it certainly helps visualize how to do it beyond just watching the gameplay. I like the rewind and replay. It is very helpful. Well done.
thanks man this saved me a lot of time. A lot of people mentioned using right on the d-pad to taunt. I found if I dodged the next attacks following my taunt, he'd go back. I'd taunt again, and repeat he'd do the same thing. I found that taunting, then blocking his next hits instead of dodging will cause him to jump to the side to start his fast combo. If you dodge these, then it will leave himself open. tl;dr - in phase 1, taunt and then block. it will lead him to keep attacking so follow up by dodging until he's open. watch for the "sonic the hedgehog" sweeps and follow the rest of the video
Just beat him and the entire game at age 20. I haven't felt this amount of frustration and satisfaction since Sekiro. Just keep reviving and fight him over and over until his moveset becomes muscle memory. I always use the 3 key or the taunt button for controller to force him into attacking me. Getting max structure upgrade and structure regen from avoiding is highly recommended. Mostly you want to parry and counter attack heavy to knock his structure down. You still want to avoid to either regain structure or dodge the low kicks and high kicks. 2nd phase is another problem you have to keep dying to memorize the moveset. Practice phase 1 until its somewhat easy then practice phase 2. Mostly parry but try to remember to avoid those last structure breaking attacks. I didn't bother trying to avoid the sweep tho it's too random so I just blocked it and was completely fine defeating him in 1 life. Just avoid his next attacks to rebuild your structure. Goodluck whoever reads this.
Thank you for this video it help so much I beat him on my 9th attempt and after that I could almost beat him every time now starting at age 49. One thing I notice though is that while pushing the agenda thing you don’t have to do at least in my experience I just found out it’s a good way to rebuild your structure and all you have to do is creep up to him and he will start engaging again
I think it's really bad for game. Everyone struggles last part. Making hard game doesn't mean game will be great or good. I think it damage game. I m very close the beat my computer

I can't read his attacks at all. The only one that I am able to reliably counter is his low sweep in phase 1 sine it is so telegraphed. Everything is waaaaay to fast for me to even see. Been at it for 2 hrs now.
Parry with weapon deals structure damage if you have the right shrines so its better overall (you can pickup a staff before this fight) , focus meter is kind of a troll shrine so don't pick it, not worth it and you can get by with one focus bar for the sweep
Just beat this guy on like the 10th try. Definitely great pointers, one thing I'd like to add, the light light heavy combo works wonders on him. Don't make the mistake of waiting for an opening against him. Play aggressively. Punish him whenever you can with the combo. In the 2nd phase, keep close to him to avoid the dash move. Watch for the lows, it comes with practice. An amazing boss fight, best I've played since Isshin in Sekiro. Really tests whatever you've learnt
2 things i noticed: 1. Some attacks will slightly bypass your block, making you take less damage instead of just taking the hit (counter by bringing in a weapon) 2. Not only does he have your exact move set, he also has extras that you cannot learn outside of cheats, not only is he your equal… he is your superior.
I'm in front of his door at age 23 with no death count right now, but I didn't have much luck the first few times I got here. Thanks for all of the tips you've provided so far; I actually think this game is unnecessarily frustrating, but I did get a lot better thanks to your information. Will be glad when I've got it finished and I can just wait for mods (hope you might consider showcasing some of the interesting ones in the future).
For the first stage I basically just parry or block his punches, and then walks away for my meter to goes down and does it again, his meter will eventually maxed out and we can finish him off, haven’t figure out second stage yet as I’m still trying to
Amazing tutorial! Got my 25 yrs old achievement with your help :D Also I find that during the 2nd phase, getting hit by the sweep attack and do a ground counter is a pretty nice trade, because a ground attack follow up is pretty much guaranteed and the sweep itself is not that much damage, so I always just did high avoid and never worried about the mixup.
@@snixtysnixt For the ground counter situation, I only did the ground attack (hold circle to downed enemy) since he’ll be knocked to the ground after a ground counter. For general punish I just mashed heavy attack 😅. I’m sure it isn’t the most optimal but it worked fine (I think…)
Funny how yang was the Only Boss I was able to first try. Like Sean and the Third boss made me Ragequit so many times. I really love the learning curve in Sifu!
I had a hard time to do parries in Sifu, so I concentrated on avoiding. Worked for me on Yang as well, avoid his attacks, then do the light/light/heavy combo (punch/punch/kick in the gut), back away, and start over. Just be patient and you slowly chip his health away.
@@piggythegod7828 Big boys were a pain for me as well, but I realized, that they are not that big on hit points, so I often pick them first and hit them with my heavy attacks, preferably with a weapon to knock them out before they can start throwing you and stuff.
When yang spams his normal attacks in a frenzy formation you can spam the parry button for a counter attack but never try to do the directional throw unless you see a shadow appear once he's in what i call super stun when he's in a super stun you can go all out until he recovers

Yes! Also it seems that he won't fully commit some of the strings and dash back half way (and therefore not punishable) if the first hits are avoided.

@@bls4650 Theres a reason the parry buff requires the most points. You can get the 2nd and 3rd statue on Level 1 with 4000 points

It definitely feels like that but you can do a 20 hit combo on the second boss if your timing is right. The bosses dizzy windows are just really small

I tried attacking him more, doing different moves. He stomped me, so many times. Over and over. Age 20 to Game Over. Again. Age 20 to Game Over. In knowing that my defeat was assured, I became fearless. Then, it happened, I went into a fight and had every move he could ever do seared into my muscle memory. I wasn't even trying, honestly. I went in thinking, "I want to practice his 2nd phase." So, I go in and just dookied on his face in first phase. Knocked him on his ass a good couple of times. Didn't really register yet that I had mastered the fight. Then got to the 2nd phase and, before I knew it, I had his structure bar almost full and still had 80% of my health. I went for it.
If you're having trouble with any boss, just go in there and mess with them for a lifetime or three.

I died so many times but I finally beat Yang. After this I replayed the first level and smashed through everyone without a problem
Honestly if you just keep tapping back you’ll dodge everything except the sweeps. You don’t even have to press Left or right and I figured this out versing him. You can honestly just hold L1 and spam back dodge To block everything in the game or Dodge except for sweeps. Figuring this out made it 10 times easier
So just hold L1 and tap down on the left stick?

@@zedrake update I've don't this now. Age 56! On the second stage I kept to the left hand wall which causes Yang to bounce of the wall to do a kick, dodge this and you can punish. It's a proper cheese method but it works

It's funny cause when I first played his 2nd phase I noticed I could consistently dodge and punish his leap off the wall attack but other than running away I couldn't survive and punish any of his other attacks consistently. Then I read your comment and was like oh yeah if I can get him to do the jump kick hes done for. And your right you can totally cheese him if you run away from all his other attacks and then stick to the wall. Beat him 1st try after reading your comment! This type of stuff is what I was looking for in a video on how to beat him. If I had read your comment earlier I would have save myself over an hour 😂 Thank you so much! You definitely saved me from breaking a controller and possibly a tv!
This video was beyond helpful. Before watching, Yang would take me from 35 to 70's in Phase 1. Literally the first run after watching, beat him in my 40's. You actually helped me beat this game. Thank you! Now to do it all over again.

You can cheese him. Go up close once je does that high swipe punch followed by another one. Duck the first then do that hold light punch move. He'll keep looping through that sequence. Although sometimes he'll do other moves. Just have to trigger that loop again
My left hand is still in pain from pressing L1 after the final spare fight and some trophies left. Im not as good as any of these guys but heres what worked for me with some persistence.
When he makes his first swooping move - avoid….next just spam L1 for his barrage of punches… as soon as that is complete spam heavy heavy heavy till he backs off a little. …. Keep repeating this three move flow till the final is over. Avoid, parry, hit.
Full disclosure. I used the slow enemy attacks and a few other helpful “modifiers” not cheats.
Honestly I am more prone to using the evade over guarding, I just feel like it's more reliable. But I'm also not a fan of the stick controls in a way because I just feel like there is too much room for error and can hold you back from perfection at times, especially in fights like this. So this was the first boss I actually focused on deflecting more.. But I haven't had as much practice on Yang so I'll see how it goes in the future.
His triple punch combo was the bane of my existence. I got used to evading by that time, but for that combo specifically, the speed required to move your thumbstick around three times is a bit obnoxious.
Honestly I wish the Parry was more lenient, even if it meant nerfing Evade. Parrying is fun, it's more "crisp", it doesn't rely on weird controls, but the window is too short. It results in you taking more Structure damage, it's more risky, it doesn't work on all moves... Meanwhile, Evade+Down works on basically everything AND the counter-attack window is much more lenient. The only time I really used Parry in the game was against groups of weak enemies and Yang's flurry of fists. Evade is just too broken to risk doing anything else.

@@FadingZebra I play on keyboard and evading is easy to spam, i still get unlucky sometimes, but it's very reliable overall. Parrying i only use on regular enemies and only after the first punch, i always miss parry on the first punch, i don't know if it's me or the game.
Phase 1 In order to make Yang attack you more frequently for punish back opportunities, this is what I did. Yang would most often snap kick and make a punch. If I avoid the kick but parry/block the punch, Yang would quickly come back to you for more attacks. Otherwise, avoiding the snap kick and punch altogether would make Yang go back and forth and takes extra time.

I finally beat the sob. He is a parry boss if that helps anyone pump up the parry skill and he is relatively easy to beat you know all his moves because you use them the entire game. Your timing to parry him should come pretty natural if you are familiar with your combos.
I like how all the Sifu boss videos give conflicting advice lol. I've looked up a few for level 3 and this one and ended up figuring out myself... but this video is very useful, albeit I do agree that to beat Yang the advice is basically 'watch what he does... have good reactions'. The AI on phase one is legit.

Found out that in the first state you should use parry more often cause his move is really fast , so you can spam parry and fill his structure bar in no time. Just be careful with his sweep move (he will rush to you so it's not too hard to predict that)
I found out that, when he goes te center and calls you to fight, you can call him to you by pressing the digital directional to the right (not the analog). You will say something that provokes him into coming to you, so you dont have to do that risky punch that he always counters.
Well, this video has certainly helped me give me a semblance of hope about getting that 25 yrs trophy. I do quite well now on the first phase, but he still wrecks me on the second. I get there with 21, and he still manages to get me to 26. I'll keep trying, and hope to get a little lucky. I appreciate the commentary on the video, it certainly helps visualize how to do it beyond just watching the gameplay. I like the rewind and replay. It is very helpful. Well done.
thanks man this saved me a lot of time. A lot of people mentioned using right on the d-pad to taunt. I found if I dodged the next attacks following my taunt, he'd go back. I'd taunt again, and repeat he'd do the same thing. I found that taunting, then blocking his next hits instead of dodging will cause him to jump to the side to start his fast combo. If you dodge these, then it will leave himself open.
tl;dr - in phase 1, taunt and then block. it will lead him to keep attacking so follow up by dodging until he's open. watch for the "sonic the hedgehog" sweeps and follow the rest of the video

No clue how but I defeated Yang without dying on my 2nd attempt on the sanctuary.
I added one extra focus bar (full) and invested points on focus recovery only to realize... you can't focus on the final boss.

This fight is fucking impossible man.
Just beat him and the entire game at age 20. I haven't felt this amount of frustration and satisfaction since Sekiro. Just keep reviving and fight him over and over until his moveset becomes muscle memory. I always use the 3 key or the taunt button for controller to force him into attacking me. Getting max structure upgrade and structure regen from avoiding is highly recommended. Mostly you want to parry and counter attack heavy to knock his structure down. You still want to avoid to either regain structure or dodge the low kicks and high kicks. 2nd phase is another problem you have to keep dying to memorize the moveset. Practice phase 1 until its somewhat easy then practice phase 2. Mostly parry but try to remember to avoid those last structure breaking attacks. I didn't bother trying to avoid the sweep tho it's too random so I just blocked it and was completely fine defeating him in 1 life. Just avoid his next attacks to rebuild your structure. Goodluck whoever reads this.
Thank you for this video it help so much I beat him on my 9th attempt and after that I could almost beat him every time now starting at age 49. One thing I notice though is that while pushing the agenda thing you don’t have to do at least in my experience I just found out it’s a good way to rebuild your structure and all you have to do is creep up to him and he will start engaging again

I can't read his attacks at all. The only one that I am able to reliably counter is his low sweep in phase 1 sine it is so telegraphed. Everything is waaaaay to fast for me to even see. Been at it for 2 hrs now.

Parry with weapon deals structure damage if you have the right shrines so its better overall (you can pickup a staff before this fight) , focus meter is kind of a troll shrine so don't pick it, not worth it and you can get by with one focus bar for the sweep

Just beat this guy on like the 10th try. Definitely great pointers, one thing I'd like to add, the light light heavy combo works wonders on him. Don't make the mistake of waiting for an opening against him. Play aggressively. Punish him whenever you can with the combo. In the 2nd phase, keep close to him to avoid the dash move. Watch for the lows, it comes with practice. An amazing boss fight, best I've played since Isshin in Sekiro. Really tests whatever you've learnt
2 things i noticed:
1. Some attacks will slightly bypass your block, making you take less damage instead of just taking the hit (counter by bringing in a weapon)
2. Not only does he have your exact move set, he also has extras that you cannot learn outside of cheats, not only is he your equal… he is your superior.
I'm in front of his door at age 23 with no death count right now, but I didn't have much luck the first few times I got here. Thanks for all of the tips you've provided so far; I actually think this game is unnecessarily frustrating, but I did get a lot better thanks to your information. Will be glad when I've got it finished and I can just wait for mods (hope you might consider showcasing some of the interesting ones in the future).

For the first stage I basically just parry or block his punches, and then walks away for my meter to goes down and does it again, his meter will eventually maxed out and we can finish him off, haven’t figure out second stage yet as I’m still trying to

Also I find that during the 2nd phase, getting hit by the sweep attack and do a ground counter is a pretty nice trade, because a ground attack follow up is pretty much guaranteed and the sweep itself is not that much damage, so I always just did high avoid and never worried about the mixup.

@@snixtysnixt For the ground counter situation, I only did the ground attack (hold circle to downed enemy) since he’ll be knocked to the ground after a ground counter.
For general punish I just mashed heavy attack 😅. I’m sure it isn’t the most optimal but it worked fine (I think…)

Chose to spare Yang. The final round you get without health bars was such a pain in the butt. Really forced me to learn how to play the damn game

I had a hard time to do parries in Sifu, so I concentrated on avoiding. Worked for me on Yang as well, avoid his attacks, then do the light/light/heavy combo (punch/punch/kick in the gut), back away, and start over. Just be patient and you slowly chip his health away.
Me it’s the complete opposite 😭 that’s why my biggest fear is big boys
@@piggythegod7828 Big boys were a pain for me as well, but I realized, that they are not that big on hit points, so I often pick them first and hit them with my heavy attacks, preferably with a weapon to knock them out before they can start throwing you and stuff.
When yang spams his normal attacks in a frenzy formation you can spam the parry button for a counter attack but never try to do the directional throw unless you see a shadow appear once he's in what i call super stun when he's in a super stun you can go all out until he recovers
