I absolutely love Sifu. It's about aquiring skills that take a life time, over the corse of a few hours. Its hard because mastering an Art is punishing. I feel like people thought we were going to get a Bruce Lee Simulator. Badass, power fantasy, breezing through rooms of thugs in an instant. Instead we got a Jackie Chan Simulator. Constantly on your back foot, scrambling for objects and using your surroundings to your advantage. We aren't use to games making us work for our Power Fantasy.

i love this game because you go from getting absolutely ass-blasted to legit becoming so good, organically, and fucking up the bosses with ease because of how skilled you become
I honestly have way more trouble with some of the elite enemy encounters than the bosses at this point due to their delayed moves and random ass sweeps. I went through and spared all the bosses and I can man handle them so hard now.
I was able to fight the first boss without deaths the second time, his 2 fase was easier for me, and now I can beat the 3 first lvls + boss without dying, and im still scared of the fat guys, because they can take a chunk from my HP 💀@@NoLifeKingRL
@@Johan3DHD - Have fun man. Once you smash the game on master and then start playing with the unlimited threat modifier, everything that seemed hard before is a cake walk. Before I quit the game I did a no death master playthrough and started grinding challenges with unlimited threats. It got wild.
So to summarize the story for yall, the 5 bosses took something from the Guardians which included your main character's father that gave them the knowledge to help people. When they slit his throat, they didn't realize that the kid was holding the talisman which glow when he/she revived. Main character goes to kill all 5 bosses and ended up regretting what he did after seeing 2 graves (1 his brother and 1 his father) which made him go back through time and redo the bosses again but instead spared them. This was shown after he killed his brother that his father told him "He who has Kung-Fu and Wude, makes the other know he can break him. His hands go out like lightning, and the other doesn't want to fight anymore". After dying and achieving peace, it was shown that in the after credits that the main character has finally became Sifu and the talisman lost 1 coin, which means Yang revived him after his death
I also think it's really cool the way you spare the bosses. I have never seen a game test your ability in self control as good as this game. Trying to prevent your instincts from taking control in a difficult fight turns out to be much more difficult than I thought
@Pedrykolas that's what I think happens but I might be wrong. It seems the story keeps itself ambiguous and quite vague and this is merely my interpretation of it. It might be a slightly different story since it depends on how you play it

The graves are Yang's wife and daughter. That's why Yang's fight ends there. Yang killed his sensei because his sensei let his wife and daughter die and banished him for wanting to save them
As someone who played Absolver and clocked in 300hours, playing sifu has me so happy because I really loved the concept and how they approach this 3d fighting space. It's so smooth and I love the interactive environment. Really well done game!
The way to beat the Club boss is just to avoid his high attacks. Really you can get through the whole game doing just a bunch of high avoids(holding L1 and flicking down on the analog stick). And the best way to beat the museum boss is to bring a metal bat with you. Since you have the elevator key now just kill the 2 guys in the beginning and take his metal bat up the elevator. Way easier to block her long range attack.
That's not how it's meant to be played. There's a certain way the control scheme is designed, when you figure it out it's such an amazing moment, everything clicks and you just dominate the room
Side dodges work just as fine. You can spam that all game and be just fine with the few enemies who use sweeps on occasion. It's Yang who teaches you the absolute necessity of parrying. Honestly. It's permanently unlocking skills like forward crotch punch, the attack that launches enemies away, the attack that allows you to SWEEP the enemy you just launched forward and your own leg sweep.

I have found that by remapping/swapping the ''LB'' and ''LT'' for Parrying/Avoiding, makes it easier to fight the enemies. This is probably only an improvement to those with big hands.
6:06 So I'm supposing since he aged from 20 to 28, he then says "I spent 8 years preparing for this". So if you beat him at 20, does he say "I spent like a week preparing for this." "My whole Tuesday was wasted preparing for this"
They all just say 8 years. The death of his Sifu was eight years ago. Its his talisman, the coins on the string, that allow him to age instead of die which is also a lore thing, not just a game mechanic. For everyone else, he is literally dying and getting back up from death a few years older.
Charlie has a very keen eye, its actually quite immaculate as we can see at 8:35 where an enemy kicks him in the head and he has the eye to point out and show, and I quote, "OOH, THAT WAS AN ATTACK". Very good observation skills.

You have to love games that are based on martial arts. There's just something about it that makes it so special. Sleeping Dogs, Tekken, Street Fighter (mainly fighting but also includes martial arts), I could go on.
I like that there is a lot more representation of traditional martial arts and fighting in media. Its cool when there are special attacks and cinematic stuff but nothing beats some good old realistic ass whopping
I only had maybe 100 or so hours on Absolver. Even with just that time frame, the sense of awe, wonder, and community, lasting memories. The nostalgia has surfaced from Sifu and wets my eyes
Absolver was heavily underrated. It just didn't hit many peoples radar which is a shame because the combat system was amazing and went underappreciated.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the interest in Sifu will have a rollback of some degree and bring a bit of life back to Absolver. I love both games, but the multiplayer in Absolver became a fight between the same twenty people.
Fighting the same people over and over? Basically sounds just like sifu (for real would be great to see more fresh prospects running into the guidance bridge hub and then immediately mistaking me for an enemy and proceeding to fight me for no reason)
I didn't know that you kept your exp and skills when repeating early levels, that just made this game much more easy for me. My first playthrough I just picked the increase on health gain when beating enemies so I was worthless in everything else and this was impossible. After noticing that you preserve everything, it was fairly easy actually. Not "I won't lose a single life" easy, but definitely much more easy
A good price of advice if you continue to struggle, especially against Sean; Learn how to spot dodge(Hold block and move the stick around) and solo fights get a lot more bearable

I can't believe how much Chinese culture is in this game. Not just the martial arts, but even the villains all represent their respective elements surprisingly well. I don't know everything about Chinese culture or mythology, but for what I do know this game nails it perfectly. Makes me want to get the game even more, as if the gameplay wasn't enough.

Accidentally started this game on the Hardest difficulty. When I lowered it. The game was so easy. But anyway I could tell he didn't play on the hardest difficulty because the Botanist did not do 40 Leg Sweeps
I actually tested the botanist fight on easy and it turns out he will spam the ever living shit out of his leg sweeps if you only parry him on first phase.

I found it find funny that I use the object enviromental skill to throw all of the coloring light bulbs to those 2 kung fu guys at the museum and died instantly.
I found that dashing instead of parrying made it a little easier to fight some of the bosses. And when you find the statues. It gives you the opportunity the de-age your character using points.
Sean is a huge roadblock for most players from what I've seen and experienced, think Fajar was just supposed to set the scene since his fight isnt very difficult

Funny thing about Sifu's name, is that in Brazilian Portuguese, "We are Fucked" can be said as "Se fudemo", and the "Se fu" part sounding exactly like Sifu. So, the moment that we Brazilians saw this game, everyone was excited for the first demo so you could have a game called "Sifu Demo".
A good start! Master difficulty reduces your health by 20-25%, enemies are more aggressive, all enemies get a new sweep attack, and bosses have new move sets. Good luck!
The only complaint I have about this game so far is that sometimes the camera placement will mess me up. But for the rest it's really a really great game!

Once you enter the dodge stance and learn the bosses the game starts looking like it’s out of the movies, but also relying on it is a downfall especially against staff boss. Since leg sweeps suck ass but can be parried but also eat your focus
This game is really fun, but I can't block or deflect for the life of me. Seeing things coming isn't the issue so much as timing everything because I'm either too early or two late.
I think the fighting scene where ur in the hallway and the camera changes to the length of the hallway was one of the best video game camera fighting styles I’ve ever played
My biggest complaints I have about Sifu, are the fact that it doesn't give you the payload and cops-out every time you beat a boss by cutting to black, and how if you kill even ONE of the bosses you get slapped with a bad end. I have nothing against Sean, Kuroki or Jinfeng, but I should 100% be allowed to kill Sajar and Yang because Sajar fucking killed me as a child, and YANG ordered him to do it. As for the Father's death, it was obviously wrong, but I don't think Yang deserves DEATH for it. He just deserves death for ordering one of his henchmen to kill a literal child.
I think the game is not about others, but about yourself. That is to say, killing them, after 8 years, won't bring back your father, nor will it bring peace to your soul. Fajar is a crack-addicted, addle-brained lunatic who is quite sick, and Yang takes care of unwell people for a living. If you kill them now, you're killing totally different people than the ones who killed you and your father back then.

I have found that by remapping/swapping the ''LB'' and ''LT'' for Parrying/Avoiding, makes it easier to fight the enemies.
This is probably only an improvement to those with big hands.

I think it’s because it took him from age 12 to 20 where you start to finish training and start on the revenge quest, that’s why he always says 8
They all just say 8 years. The death of his Sifu was eight years ago. Its his talisman, the coins on the string, that allow him to age instead of die which is also a lore thing, not just a game mechanic. For everyone else, he is literally dying and getting back up from death a few years older.

You have to love games that are based on martial arts. There's just something about it that makes it so special. Sleeping Dogs, Tekken, Street Fighter (mainly fighting but also includes martial arts), I could go on.
I still come back to sleeping dogs every once in awhile to hop in one of the fight clubs. Awesome game.
I like that there is a lot more representation of traditional martial arts and fighting in media. Its cool when there are special attacks and cinematic stuff but nothing beats some good old realistic ass whopping

Absolver was really something special. You don't see a whole lot of games try to tackle something so new like that one did.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the interest in Sifu will have a rollback of some degree and bring a bit of life back to Absolver. I love both games, but the multiplayer in Absolver became a fight between the same twenty people.

I didn't know that you kept your exp and skills when repeating early levels, that just made this game much more easy for me. My first playthrough I just picked the increase on health gain when beating enemies so I was worthless in everything else and this was impossible. After noticing that you preserve everything, it was fairly easy actually. Not "I won't lose a single life" easy, but definitely much more easy
A good price of advice if you continue to struggle, especially against Sean; Learn how to spot dodge(Hold block and move the stick around) and solo fights get a lot more bearable

I can't believe how much Chinese culture is in this game. Not just the martial arts, but even the villains all represent their respective elements surprisingly well. I don't know everything about Chinese culture or mythology, but for what I do know this game nails it perfectly. Makes me want to get the game even more, as if the gameplay wasn't enough.

Accidentally started this game on the Hardest difficulty. When I lowered it. The game was so easy. But anyway I could tell he didn't play on the hardest difficulty because the Botanist did not do 40 Leg Sweeps
I actually tested the botanist fight on easy and it turns out he will spam the ever living shit out of his leg sweeps if you only parry him on first phase.
Also easy mode if you die you only age one year but on normal mode if you die two times in a row your age is 23 not 22
It’s insane to me how hard it seemed for him the first play through and how easy it seemed the second, doing the bosses in a harder fashion

I found that dashing instead of parrying made it a little easier to fight some of the bosses. And when you find the statues. It gives you the opportunity the de-age your character using points.

i find the sweep attacks the hardest to dodge they always catch me off guard i always expect them to do high attacks.
A good start! Master difficulty reduces your health by 20-25%, enemies are more aggressive, all enemies get a new sweep attack, and bosses have new move sets. Good luck!

Once you enter the dodge stance and learn the bosses the game starts looking like it’s out of the movies, but also relying on it is a downfall especially against staff boss. Since leg sweeps suck ass but can be parried but also eat your focus

This game is really fun, but I can't block or deflect for the life of me. Seeing things coming isn't the issue so much as timing everything because I'm either too early or two late.

I love how you can see how Charlie is getting better and better at the game.
My biggest complaints I have about Sifu, are the fact that it doesn't give you the payload and cops-out every time you beat a boss by cutting to black, and how if you kill even ONE of the bosses you get slapped with a bad end. I have nothing against Sean, Kuroki or Jinfeng, but I should 100% be allowed to kill Sajar and Yang because Sajar fucking killed me as a child, and YANG ordered him to do it. As for the Father's death, it was obviously wrong, but I don't think Yang deserves DEATH for it. He just deserves death for ordering one of his henchmen to kill a literal child.
I think the game is not about others, but about yourself. That is to say, killing them, after 8 years, won't bring back your father, nor will it bring peace to your soul.
Fajar is a crack-addicted, addle-brained lunatic who is quite sick, and Yang takes care of unwell people for a living. If you kill them now, you're killing totally different people than the ones who killed you and your father back then.
