I think that Laura (the blonde) was traumatized by her mother’s Rose unfortunate fate (probably there is some mental issue that runs into family) and later attempted to take her own life. Whether her attempt was successful or not, I can’t really tell now.
I have to replay other Rusty Lake games to refresh my memory and gather the lore again.
My memory was significantly affected by covid, and though I was able to restore important memories and regain my ability to memorize things to certain extent, some of the past is lost. I used to have nearly perfect memory before and I remembered every movie I watched, every book I read, the games I played. I remembered a lot of emotional events from my own life in such details, and now a big chunk of it is gone forever. It is sad, because it feels like I’ve lost a bit of myself to that infamous virus. It is fun sometimes, because now I can rewatch movies that I forgot, reread books I once liked, replay my favorite games as if they were new to me.
This is one more reason why the game hits the right spot for me. I was emotional while I was playing it. Travelling down the memory lane… What could be better? I wish I could take the train and discover some of my lost sweet memories, but at the same time I think that less pleasant memories will come along, too. Anyway, I don’t have such train, so I should cherish what I was left with… and create new memories for future me to remember.

I’m back. I’ve just played “The Roots”, it is about Vanderboom family… well, I can say that this family is twisted and cursed 😅
Laura’s two great great granduncles were practicing alchemy and made some questionable choices. At least one of their grandnephews followed their twisted path and some of their offspring were born in unnatural way. According to The Roots, Rose’s daughter Laura was also made involving alchemy and human sacrifices.
So…
No wonder that Laura struggled with mental health. If the ritual they performed was successful, then she bears cursed soul of her alchemist ancestor. If it wasn’t, she still had very traumatic and probably unnatural birth and inherited her family’s mental issues.
Please please please please play all of the rusty lake games for the channel! Rewatch potential is huge c:
I remember checking a while ago if he ever did playthroughs of this series, and was sad to find out he didn't. I think it would fit into the channel really well!

FYI, there's a bonus game following the credits. You have to return to all of the metro stations to find 7 cubes. If you decide to play the Rusty Lake games, you should play Rusty Lake Roots, Samsara Room and The Past Within. These games focus on Laura and Rose's family, the Vanderbooms, and are all interconnected. The Cube Escape Collection and Cube Escape: Paradox deal mostly with the mystery of Laura's death and her fate being intertwined with that of Detective Dale Vandermeer. Also, The White Door focuses on Robert (Bob) Hill, Laura's boyfriend from the 4th and 5th stations.

I really wish you play the full Rusty Lake/Cube Escape series. It's incredible, full of mysteries, with a great universe and a super creative story.

Rusty lake has always been one of my favorite puzzle psychological game series that i have played and watch, and im glad to see it played from you. i love your impressions for the characters and how soothing it is to hear.

These two women at the end are the same person (the woman with red hair and the older woman), her name is Rose. The woman with blonde hair is Laura her daughter (who is the reincarnation of another character in the series), and if you want to learn more you must play other games 😁

I just noticed, the roman number on the clock for 4 is wrong... They draw it as "IIII" instead "IV" , there was something that was bothering me and i finally found it!!!

Are you going to play the bonus sections? There’s a huge ARG attached to this game also. I think if you click Continue, you get the option to go back to all the different stations to find a cube in each one and use a lot of the same objects in these environments in new ways. And if you put the cubes in the correct order (which is a puzzle in itself), you access the second bonus level and that’s where the ARG comes in.

I’ve finished this lovely game two days ago, it was a bit too short for me even in its fullest version. But it made me want to replay other RL games with my new insight and new thoughts.
For anyone who struggles with puzzles: Rusty Lake has walkthrough on their channel, it is accessible even from the game itself. First press the gear, then question mark, and you can then find walkthrough if you’re stuck.
Morphy, at school station one of the girls (with single earring) has drawing of two classmates who are in love in her pocket. That is how we can find who are these two.
Harvey is a parrot. Harvey is in next game by rusty lake too, I think even he/she is just a small parrot he/she have in series big role

I've watched/played rusty lake games for years now but damned if I knew how to make the story make sense. If I'm not wrong Harvey is a parrot or some sort of bird who shows up in a number of games. There's one game you play as the bird him in a box. Laura is a prominent character in this series as well but there's too many endings with her.
ok here is some lore, this game have such an incredibly stranger lore, and hard to understand, more than fnaf, but just for saying, immortality, and memories

Probably the only sane and unchanged Character in the Series.
The Protagonist is the Daughter, Laura. Her Mother is Rose.
Find out in playing Roots.
There are other longer versions that have a Rusty Lake History.
However, the Cube Escape Games are free and you get an idea of the history and story as you play these very intriguing puzzles with some dark humor and great artwork.
You really did a great job figuring the puzzles out, however, I believe you missed some black cubes?

This part! I got so confused at first because I've got the minute IX first then went to look for an hour and was like "Aren't these supposed to show the numbers for time what does this symbol mean? " haha a bit embarrassing that it took me some time to realise that it meant 4.
