I was trying to teach my sons how to bowl... but I always just "did" it and didn't know what to tell them. This really broke down the steps - LITERALLY. I once bought a book on bowling, but it was all about the swing and the release. I've seen other bowling videos here, but they assume you know all "the basics" and deal with very fine points (some are an outright waste of time) We even had someone at the alley talk to us but they didn't explain the steps, rather, just how to grip the ball, finger placement etc. The footwork is where you have to start. If you're trying to learn the proper way to bowl, this video is the best starting point I've seen.
I love the video and this was a lot of help. Something simple as being reminded to keep your shoulders square to the lane is a big help for a beginner bowler. I did have to laugh pretty hard when he told us to look at the ball receptacle and pick up the ball with two hands so we wouldn't hurt ourselves and then proceeded to pick up the ball one handed and didn't even look
I'm going to go ten pin bowling with a few friends in a few hours and I haven't bowled in ages. This video was really helpfull and well produced, thanks a bunch!
Very good instuctional video for beginners whether kids or adults. I managed a Center for years and it always amazed me how many people especially adults don't care about equipment or the Center when they are open bowling.
I agree. I've watched alot of videos as I'm just about to buy my first ball. I've learnt alot from most of them but this one was the first to explain what the 'pocket' actually is.
I see this video is from Australia. Tell me, is it true that in Australia the bowling ball spins in the opposite direction then here in Canada? Because your under the equator and all.
The best way for kids to learn how to bowl is using a ball that doesn't need holes. So Candlepin, Duckpin or 5 pin would be the better options to learn proper form and more fun.
I'm thinking of taking up bowling but theres one thing stopping me. Its that loud obnoxious disco/rock type music they keep blaring out of the speakers at my local alley. Oh my aching head.

Best tutorial ever!!! Bowling is a simple game, but a lot of so-called experts make it way too complicated for beginners.....it's just DAMN bowling!!

For a 13 yr old video this is still an excellent introduction for beginner bowlers. Well done gents.

I think it was meant as a joke because people always say that when you flush a toilet in Australia the water spins the opposite way than in america.

If I take 4 and a half steps from the foul line, I'm about a foot in front of the 2nd set of dots. I'm beside the ball return. Is that ok?
