    This is arguably the finest escape in a very realistic dangerous situation. If not the best , clearly one of the best. Bond getting overmatched and shooting a spear to escape is nothing short of brilliant.

    I love the rare moments in Bond films where the lack of guys shooting at Bond (or the lack of him being hit) can actually be explained. When they first see him he's both very far away, partly covered by a metal underwater craft and with the dude with the gun being on turbulent water (which a line mentions earlier) and perhaps Krest wouldn't want his shipment destroyed any further than it already has by Bond. Underwater guns are practically useless so they shift to harpoons. And when Bond is jetskiing behind the plane its almost impossible to hit, the speed, the rash movements of Bond flying behind the plane, again you dont want to shoot down your own smuggler, and Bond also quickly makes it onto the plane and in the air.

    For me Timothy Dalton is the Best 007. He was the dark versión of James Bond, tough as nails, Intense, serious but kind and fair when he has to be. "License To Kill" is for me after "From Russia Whit Love" The Best movie in the Franchise, we have a 007 out of is confort zone with no gadgets, fancy Cars, out MI6 and all those things we tought mede i'm special. He just survive using his habilities and inteligence. "The living Daylights" is a wonderfull movie, this bring back the Old fashion Spy intrigue, with Roger Moore Everything was about save the World is the Best adaptation of a Ian Fleming novel and Dalton portrait the original visión of the author character. Thats why Timothy Dalton is the Best Bond ever!!! 😎 Before Craig did a realistic Bond, Dalton did that first.... It would be fantastic watch him starring Goldeneye or at least Two more pictures 😓

    • @wyrmseyeview26
      @wyrmseyeview26 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm glad someone else out there agrees that this is one of the very best Bond movies. Together with For Your Eyes Only, it's frequently overlooked or forgotten in the pantheon of great ones.
      Dalton's Bond is often written off as humourless, but this has always been unfair: he may not mug to the camera as much as Moore or Brosnan but he has plenty of one-liners, just delivered with more bite, and the extra seriousness he brings to the role helps to sell the stunts, which are among the most outrageous in the series: this one is a particular highlight, but there's also the the plane heist at the start of the movie. For those who love the tone of the Daniel Craig movies, Dalton's anticipate them by twenty years, and Dalton for my money looks a hundred times better in the part.
      The main thing that Dalton's movies lack is a memorable villain. Sanchez was alright but he doesn't have the panache of the really great Bond villains like Goldfinger, Blofeld, Scaramanga or Trevelyan. Other than that, this film is pretty much perfect.

  • @runwayjet755
    @runwayjet755 2 ปีที่แล้ว +43

    Dalton portrayed the real things which happens in the spy world. He was serious like a professional military spy, sober like an experienced commando and not that too much womanizer. But the dark shades of a spy's inner mind have been perfectly portrayed. What do you expect more?

    • @erikm9768
      @erikm9768 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    What a fantastic bond action movie, I love this movie so much, definitely in the top five of the best bonds ever, it will always be the biggest disappointment of the bond series that dalton only ever did two movies, if he went on and did five right up to goldeneye, I know that he would have been the best bond ever, as it stands anyway, hes only second best to Connery.

    • @LexingtonDeville984
      @LexingtonDeville984 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      True, but at the same time, Dalton admitted that GoldenEye wouldn’t have been half as successful if he was still in the role. Still, I think he should of done at least two more after Licence to Kill before signing off.

  • @shadbolt4687

    Yep...First class Bond film....with imho the best title song by Gladys Knight with it's homage to the Goldfinger theme. The pacing that Glenn and also Lewis Gilbert got into their films shows what's been lost in the self regarding Craig era.

  • @GuineaPigEveryday
    @GuineaPigEveryday 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Licence To Kill is an amazing film. I think what might dissuade people from watching it is that it doesn’t have any easily identifiable action scenes except the ending. This could be considered an action scenes but its not as easily recognisable as the car chases (or any vehicle chase) or the plane sequence in Octopussy or The Living Daylights. Perhaps a car chase might’ve helped make this movie more money at the time and have people recognise how great it is.
