      @@100Singers lazenby is hit or miss. OHMSS is one of the best shot Bond films and paved the way for Roger Moore but the acting from lazenby is very wooden with few Bondisms and the tone shoots from jovial to grim in seconds.I'm not saying it's bad but you can't call it lazenby's best anymore than you can call it his worst because he never did anything beyond it. Caroline Bliss's Moneypenny was a perfect Bond Girl material for Dalton's gritty take on 007:
    She was warmhearted, she was genuinely concerned about Bond's safety and her innocent flirts were a clear indication of her feelings for him.
    Both complemented each other too, as unlike Sir Connery who treated Money penny more like a beer buddy or Moore who just wasn't interested, Dalton's Bond seemed to actually care for her and might eventually fall in love with her.

    The real question was where would the Bond series have gone after 'Licence To Kill'? It's hard to see Dalton in a more fantastical Bond story after this film and its equally hard to see the producers staying with this kind of story for the next film. As much as I like Dalton as Bond, maybe we got as much from his two films as realistically he could have done with Bond. Long story short - Dalton’s contract ran for three films. Production on his third outing was set to begin in May 1990 and filming was set to take place in Scotland, Japan, and China. They had the script finalised and they were all ready to go, but it got scrapped due to a legal dispute between MGM and Danjaq over the distribution rights to the Bond series. Thanks to a shady Italian banker named Giancarlo Parretti, who was MGM’s chairman at the time, we never got to see Dalton’s third. After everything got resolved and Parretti was arrested, Dalton’s contract expired, but he had a change of heart and stated he wanted to do just one more and then call it quits. Cubby Broccoli basically said "Tim, you can’t just do one" and offered him an improved contract for 3/4 movies. Dalton politely declined and resigned from the role in April 1994. Pierce Brosnan then got the role two months later and the rest, as they say, is history.

      If the studios behind James Bond hadn't been caught in legal proceedings for five years, Goldeneye could have been Dalton Crown and glory for Bond the movie was for him. You could tell from day one that there were script problems such as the main villain Alec (Sean Bean) when mentioning his past made no sense because Sean Bean was 35 at the time and he was talking about events from the 40s, (baby) when he was alive meaning he would have been in his 50s at the time.

    • @thegulagspeak
      @thegulagspeak ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joshuagrover795 Eon had trouble with distributor at the time, so Golden Eye could be distributed at 1995, 6 long years after License To Kill. Of course being Bond is kinda strict contract to every actor, so Dalton stepped down the role for Brosnan, who was initially chose to be Bond for The Living Daylight. And for the latter matter, Sean Bean was fit for the role of Alec...well since he was looked age-appropriate even he was not that old. And who is better for a climatic demise than Sean Bean himself, since then he cemented himself for the role of dying character 🤣

    Something worth noting is how Bond laughs off the idea of him being her secretary simply because "we're south of the border" - it's nothing out of the ordinary or controversial for himself to have women in charge, it just fits better as a selling point in the country they're in if it wasn't so.

    Quick reminder. Bond is waving suitcases of money around, money he stole from Sanchez, and depositing it in his bank, gambling it away in his casino, spending nights in the best hotel possible, throwing away hundreds in tips.
    THEN, he withdraws that money, and plants it on his partner's ship to frame him for stealing it, leading to the most over the top death in Bond's history. More or less.
    Damn, most con men wish they could pull this off.
