Maybe it's me but the movies were awesome in 1986. And though I missed seeing FB in the theatre, it has become one of my faves. It's just a classic that will never get old. I do want to point out to Sir Paul (whom I do have respect for) that he can gripe all he wants about "Twist & Shout" and it sounding too "brassy", but it's not his song; it's not The Beatles' song; it's an Isley Brothers song. And for the scene, the horns used to amplify the sound was pure genius and made the song explode. It was perfection. So, there.
Ferris bueller along with Cameron though, more ferris were the real villains of the film due to the following reasons 1 ) ferris was lazy 2) compulsive gambler and lying stalker criminal towards his own parents plus others who should have went to classes in the secondary school Especially since he shouldn't have affected his own sister nor ,Sloan 3) other people need to be good students as well so it should have known better and done so as well nevertheless, it was all in the name of comedy so basically it wasn't too bad

Visited there for 2 weeks in the early 90's. Came from a UK school background so school trips were not as exciting as the Chicago ones! I was so young and ill informed that the only thing I recognised from a movie was from the Blues Brothers! (I did go to a bank to have my GBP changed into dollars that I later recognised as the same bank Beverley withdraws her cash from in the novel 'It'. I hadn't read the book at the time I was actually there so couldn't have realised it was a real world location from famous fiction at the time.)
Some people call me Cameron because I supposedly look like him, so I took my old Detroit Red Wings jersey and went out to a Halloween party as Cameron when I was 24 lol
Ferris is the catalyst for all the characters. Especially His sister and two friends. Sister learns to be herself and actually goes from despising Ferris to and understanding and acceptance. Sloan, understands that this is more than just a high school fling, and of course Cameron's journey is the farthest as Minty explains.

Top video as always, Minty!! Cheers! Here’s one - What actual day did Ferris take off, and how do we know? Answer: June 5, 1985 We know this because of the baseball game they attended, Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves. Cubs lost 4-2 that day BTW

Just watched the dvd newly arrived from Ebay last night. Still quotable after all this time. Captured all Chicago offers. 🌞 "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
I especially agree with the last point, the film is about taking time to forget your worries and taking time to appreciate life. The story is about cameron, who starts as a nervous wreck, and ends with the courage to stand up to his abusive father and claim his own life. It's just narrated by the charming ferris Bueller

A great film. I recall my best friend and I going to see it when it came out and we were in high school. My friend's mom actually was the one to recommend it to us!
"Parker Lewis Can't Lose" was a pretty good homage/ripoff tv show
yes, and it even mentioned Ferris Bueller once
I was just thinking that exact same thing! "Gentlemen, synchronize Swatches!". 😉
@@MickeyKnox "Who does this guy think he is...Ferris Bueller?" ~Parker Lewis
Hmmm...maybe I liked this show more than I thought I did...oops, gotta go, been called in to Miss. Musso's office...😬
@@jenniferbaldini3527 :-D
Really wish they'd put the Parker Lewis series on Bluray!
Thank you for this, I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot of interesting things about the movie.
Chicago is where everyone in school around where I live goes for a field trip because of the Museums. And that's about 4hrs away.
@Thomas Foley That's why the schools took us. But I'm told nowadays they don't take children to Chicago. I grew up before the Bush JR. Administration changed the way children are taught.
Cameron showed us anxiety perfectly
This is one of the best reviews youve done Mr Minty!
Thanx Brother.
Glad to be a Kid of the Eighties !!! It was a Happier time
"Do you speak English?"
"Uhh.. what country do you think this is?"
This movie is one of my favorites!
Had a feeling you’d end the video doing the “you’re still here” bit - awesome 😎
I graduated high school in June 1986.
Ferris, and Sloane, have a very special place in my heart.
That’s cool about the stage play, didn’t know Alan and Matthew were in it. Apparently so was Bill Sadler.
i loved the twist and shout section
Can you please do the movie Fletch?
Yesssss
"Why don't you two go to the gym and pump each other..." :P
lol
I love Fletch!!! Funny af.
Man, your commenting on movies is ALWAYS brilliant, funny and on point! Thank you, THANK YOU for doing Ferris bueller and giving you MUCH Chicago love👍🏿😁⭐👍🏿😁⭐👍🏿😁⭐👍🏿😁⭐
One of the most iconic movies in the history of film.
The last few seconds are the BEST!!
Ok I know this about Ferris Buellers's Day Off. But when you saw the infamous water fountain, who started singing the Married With Children theme?
One fact that was left out was the popularity of the movie actually brought the song “Twist and Shout” back onto the Top 40 Billboard charts.
I totally agree that this movie has more character development on Cameron than Ferris
kirby march barcena I never really gave much thought to the fan theory that Ferris was imaginary, but the fact that his character doesn’t really develop at all kinda lends itself to that idea.
Cameron was depressive, problems with his dad, and in real life there are a lot of Camerons out there.
Oggatha Christie - Agree.
I thought the movie was about Cameron.
From a Chicago native, glad you came and checked out my hometown. I live over the border in Kenosha, WI. but go back when I can often.
Minty, I want to say thank you for your content. Long story short, as a sufferer of depression due to blocked out memories from the 70s & 80s that are no longer blocked out, your videos take me to a place when I was able to escape those memories being made and remind me that it wasn’t all abuse, doom and gloom. Your vids are helping me be at peace with a very troubled upbringing. Thanks, my man.
Well done Minty. I’m surprised it took you this long to do this film. Also, Chicago is one heck of a sweet city.

"Ferris Buellers Day Off Is A Love Letter to Chicago..."
Isn't every John Hughes movie a love letter to Chicago? Lol
Apart from The Breakfast Club. And Weird Science. And Pretty in Pink. And Sixteen Candles. And Some Kind of Wonderful...
Love your channel and love this movie... ps I never skip ads on your videos.. get that well deserved money
"When Cameron was in Egypt's land...let my Cameron goooooo."😀
I used to sing a variation on this when i was kept at work too long.
True classic film. Although I hated Ferris as a smart-arse, I loved this film just the same. Truly iconic. One of the best ever. I agree that Cameron is the most interesting character in this film. Nice review bro.
I totally agree. Cameron's character arc has pivotal importance to the story. Alan Ruck was cheated (yes!) of even an Oscar nod for his brilliant, multi-faceted portrayal.
I love these videos Minty!!! keep up the good work. I saw one of the Ferrari replicas at an auto auction last year. It's still a beautiful car
Well this was long overdue. ;-)
Top video as always, Minty!! Cheers!
Here’s one - What actual day did Ferris take off, and how do we know?
Answer: June 5, 1985
We know this because of the baseball game they attended, Cubs vs. Atlanta Braves. Cubs lost 4-2 that day BTW
The whole movie is iconic in a time where we would all go to the mall hang out with friends go see ferris bueller day off , john hughes he loved to film in chicago he made many movies in chicago all i can say is what a great time to be a kid life was so easy simple so much more save ferris bueller smiles
A John Hughes classic in every sense of the word.
Ah yes. The beginning of my crush on Alan Ruck. I absolutely love this movie. So many quotes from this flick, I’m not even going to try. Thanks, Minty!
My best friends, sister's, cousin's, ex-wife knows this guy, who meets this kid, that left this comment.
You lie.
Thank you, Simone! 😘💕
Are they your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate?
@@SniffHeinkel what does that make them? 🤣
Absolutely NOTHING!!!...
Are you suggesting that I am not who I say I am?
"Imagine anyone than Broderick playing the part".
Michael J. Fox pops up immediately in my brain :-)
interestingly Matthew Broderick was the first choice of Family Ties producers to play Alex P. Keaton
jon Cryer too
Eric Stolz
@Oggatha Christie Except he wasn't a teen at the time, actually 24 at the time of the movie's release. But then, it was---and still is---a common practice in Hollywood. He's a huge talent at whatever age he was in any given movie. Stay safe.
He'd be great as well, as much as Broderick would be an interesting Marty McFly. I'm glad with what we got though.
Get over it, McCartney. That version of, "Twist and Shout," sounded great.
Such a great video! Thank you so much. This video brought me so much joy! Like many of us, this movie was one of my favorites as a kid in the 80s. You included so many great little know facts like Ben Stein, the parents, deleted scenes. Who Matthew was engaged to…BRAVO! 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 Be well and many blessings to you Sir!
aww my moms favorite movie when I was a kid :P I saw this so many times growing up.
What a fun, interesting and insightful review!
Yep
Anyone remember “Win Ben Stein’s Money”?
Yes. I also remember that it was never his money on the line.
Oh yeah! I loved that show!
Loved that show and Ben Stein. I was quite disappointed when he became an outspoken and ridiculous creationist.
Of course. That was the last time Jimmy Kimmel was funny.
@@r0bw00d It wasn't money from his pocket, to be sure, but I paused the credits once (on VHS!!! that was hard) to see for myself. They were actually competing for a portion of his per-episode paycheck, at least according to the end credits.
This is my fav movie of all times !!!! Great video !!!!!
That 80s nostalgia. Although Ferris Bueller mostly spends the whole movie taking advantage of his friends. Although I like his sister given the principal those rapid fire kicks to the face.
Yeah the critical analysis of Ferris as a narcissistic sociopath is spot on. Never notice it as a kid, but when you grow up and learn a thing or two about psychology, it's hard not to notice the abundance of red flags.
🤣
fucking loathe people that apply 2020 bullshit to shit from a bygone era. Hope you pansies never watch Revenge of the Nerds
@@TheGhostofMrArthurs You imply that the director wasn't aware of it as well. It's called "subtext" and part of creative writing and cinema - but you just keep laughing at all the surface stuff (which you are also meant to)
How’s he take advantage of his friends? Except talking Cameron into using his dad’s car...
OMG, that scene freaking kills me every damn time!
"Ferris..."
"Bueller..."
"HA!"
"HA!"
*Screams, BAM-BAM-BAM*
That Was .................Awesome!!! 🙏😎 CJ
“A professional what?”
U r good at Remembrance of movies that I love and that you always make me go back and watch them again thank you minty .
Alan Ruck turned 30 shortly after this movie premiered. It is like the "kids" from 90210.
Schmohawk Or Riverdale. Hasn’t the cast been in high school for like 15 seasons? And I don’t think they’re seniors yet.
Would you have guessed that Emilio Estivez, Ally Sheedy or Judd Nelson were already in their 20s when they did The Breakfast Club? If I didn’t already know by the time I got around to it, I would’ve been blown away.
The camera subtracts 10 years
Oh wow, I thought it was the other way around.
So it's ironic that they cast Mia Sara because they thought she was older than the 18 years she was-She was the only real teenager!
Thank you Minty, this is one of my all-time favourite movies! 😀👍🏽👌🏽❤️
Minty: in case nobody has mentioned it, you should look at the Ferris Bueler/Fight Club theory.
He had an older video that discussed that theory, but i think it may have been taken down.
I think you should review "La Bamba", the story of Ritchie Valens.
Kindly explain or tell us something more about this theory.
@@rado3880 tl;dr version is that Ferris is Cameron's "Tyler Durden". Non-tl;dr version is MUCH better. Google it.
