    PS. Last time Altair tried to kill Robert de Sable: th-cam.com/video/NsUc0PusSRA/w-d-xo.html, he actually decided to bang his target instead: th-cam.com/video/NsUc0PusSRA/w-d-xo.html. Literally.

      I like the characters in this game, even the psychos who you kill. Gives me vibes of Indiana Jones and how some things are not meant to be disturbed. I also like how even though King Richard is your enemy technically as a Crusader, he does have enough honor to let you go after you have your fight. I actually don't envy him either, to know what Altair came to know, pretty much destroys people.

      Indeed, a whole different feeling from hollywood-inspired last installations of AC. The feeling of... documentary movie, mixed with arthouse. Of course, this is no documentary (although, NOTHING is true and everything is possible), it's a mockumentary, but undoubtedly also an art piece. Deeply philosophical in nature as well.

    • @stealthynaxo
      @stealthynaxo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +65

      We sadly have done what we have been doing ever since 90s. We devalued uniqueness in favor of trends.
      Spider Man gets adapted into a movie with its own unique spin; some runs decided to implement movie spins on the comics.
      FPS were on the rise and each one had their own qualities, soon they were all copying whatever attribute the other had and turn it into a gimick.
      AC while profitable and unique fell prey to Ubisoft's lazyness. They saw a product to be released yearly and eventually grew stale. Instead of taking their time and innovate they saw how games like the Witcher 3 were doing and decided to copy it rather than creating something.
      So yeah, this is a problem we have had FOR YEARS. We turn everything into a trend, grow accostume to it and subconciously reject new things because they are out of our confort zone.

      @@stealthynaxo Yep, you got it right! This was the word or the sentence l had in my mind but didn't found it yet. It is those moments you know something but don't remember but when you see the answer, you suddenly remember everything.
      How the 90s and the PS2 era was full of unique games, it is impeccable. l remember a personal favorite of mine called "Lifeline" on the PS2; talk about a game that is only voice-controlled and had interactions with the main cast more successful done than recent modern games.
      Or how about Rome 1 Total War? The game full of details, unparalleled voice acting, growing your generals like children and not just RPG like trees.
      Thief; the king of stealth games with its immersive sound design and lot more.
      Deus Ex 1? Of course, my pleasure was augmented playing that.
      l could go on and on, thing is; we moved to the copy and paste era of mediocrity. There is always exceptions, l have to say this because everyone will come like crows to add this.
      The worst thing you could do to a game is to make it boring; it is fine it made you angry(bad games) or happy(good), some really bad games were so bad but had unique elements to them(though it is rare to see it).
      All l see is; humans were designed to be simple but we chase or, to say it better, we need to chase complications in our lives. How games were made with love before and were not after cow milkers to make money like today and insane graphics; that only increase the work needed to create a game where the time could be used to make cool details or developer's foresight like in Deus Ex 1. . l am not at all fascinated by games after 2010s(expections still apply, though really few). All the 'wow' emotions l had, were before said date.
      All this is surely subjective but some part of it, l am sure it applies to everyone.

      Did you remember the second game after this one, where you fight the Pope underneath the Vatican with a "magic" staff who wants to meet God and take over the world.

      @@travisoliver6741 In Ezio’s words, “I am only a conduit of a message that eludes my understanding”. Ezio was not only an assassin, but he was also human, just as much as any of us are. What made the AC series so good was how grounded yet ambiguous it was to each historical settings of each game and the philosophies and influences these installments had to offer. Ezio’s human nature allowed us to connect to him with how each historical and supernatural phenomenons essentially created impacts that we wish to fully understand. Like Ezio, we did not know what the apple of eden was. Our nature and knowledge is so limited to such powerful divinity that mysterious relics like the apple had to offer to us humans. Like Ezio, we are simply just humans who do not fully understand the wonders our world has to offer, and that tampering with such power like that can create severe consequences to the people affected by your actions. That is what Assassin’s Creed was all about.

    Altair: "Some men cannot be reasoned with."
    Richard: "Like that mad man Saladin."
    Altair: "I think he'd like to see an end to this war as much as you do."

    Richard: "The people do not know what they want, it's why they turn to men like us."

    Altair: "No, we are what we choose to be."
    Richard: "Ha! Your kind, always playing with words."
    Altair: "I speak the truth, there's no trick to be found here."
    Altair: "Then I will take my leave. My Master and I have much to discuss. It seems like even he is not without fault."

    In my opinion, the AC franchise would benefit immensely from going back in time instead of going forward all the time. AC1 has such a cool setting and time period. Imagine the Roman Empire during the time of Julius Caesar. Imagine Egypt during some powerful god-king's reign. Killing a pharaoh. Imagine the pharaoh actually posessing supernatural abilities due to him being a First Civ/Human hybrid who can wield First Civ artifacts with greater efficacy and power. Let's hope Empire goes down that road.

In AC1 especially strikes were slow and lethal and they felt like it.

      It did take some skill for combat in this game. Later games dumbed down combat to require less skill. Blocking and counterattack is much easier in AC2 onward than in this one.

    I played all the other games (except Odyssey) before this one and even I can recognise how good it was. This proves that this game isn't just good on nostalgia alone. The story did feel smaller but much more real. I still very much love the world.

    Here are the reason for the dialects: Templars were French. Teutonic Knights were German. Knights Hospittaler were Italian. King Richard also speaks with a french accent, because he spoke french and couldn't speak English (He lived in northern France).

    Funny thing. There is no health bar in this game. It is a "synchronization bar" that shows how much in sync you are with "the real story". If you lose all points, you do not die but instead you "get desynced". This implies that the real Altair never got hit in a fight.

    Even though AC2 is still the pinnacle of assassins creed, it also doomed the series. Because before AC2, you actually had to plan out your assassinations. Doing the side missions, gave you more windows of opportunities and unique kills, or you can say eff all that and go in like a madman. But in AC2 all assassinations were story based. AC Unity kind of brought that back with the black box assassinations but no AC has really done this since. The idea of “this is your target, now figure out how to kill him” has lost itself in a game with “assassin” in the title :/

    • @MexicanNarwhalSystem
      @MexicanNarwhalSystem 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Gamer Rat i see, in my first playthrough i had the same problem. if you ever do the mission again, just grab the boss and throw him on the ground, or counter him so he falls, then quickly equip your hidden blade and stab him before he starts to get up. you can do this with most enemies in the game. if you have issues with that, always stay on the defensive and dodge heavy attacks that you can't block or counter until you weaken him enough

    • @ThyHollowedOne
