Back in the days of CRT's my party trick when the customer compalined of a dull picture was to spray some screen cleaner along the top of the tube and look at their faces as it made its way down. It was a horrible sight but with a good clean and a tube that still had some life left, it restored the picture until the tube was past it. The inside of those sets was like a hoover bag, inches thick in dust and grime, which gave the game away if the owner had tried to repair it and disturbed the dust. Happy days, now we have backlights to contend with.
used to hate getting old LG edge lits and Hitachi tv's in. they were always full of thick nicotine dust and for some reason it always caused lines and brittle tab bonds.
When I was a kid, we had a big CRT television set. When it played up at night, my dad used to thump it a few times on top and it fixed it. The flat screen tvs are a bit hard to thump on top. But try it anyway
Allen we have a saying in Wales for filthy smelly things like that uchaf i (pronounced Yuchy ve) best to throw it away. Not often you would hear me saying that mind. LOL Regards, Brian
Im having a ballache day today, replaced faulty edge lit backlights in a 50l2436d..nightmare to take to bits..the new leds just flash once and go out . Im suspecting the backlight driver ic is faulty (oz9998hdn) so ive ordered one of them..hoping thats the problem although ive only ever had that chip cause flashing on and off and not just one flash at startup and then nothing 🤔
