Best Restaurants In Rome | What & Where To Eat In Rome

- Visiting nearly every year since 2010, and having spent at least 1 year of my life in The Eternal City (on and off), I feel as though I know Rome very well.. even more so than my own city! A lot of people follow me on TH-cam and Instagram likely for my love of this great city, and so with that being said, many people often ask me for restaurant recommendations and what to eat in Rome. Italy in general has some of the best food in the WORLD, and Rome in particular has certain dishes that are loved, and even made all around the world. Well, video has been a long time coming, but I would like to finally share with you WHAT to eat when visiting Rome, as well as WHERE to eat it (my favourite restaurants). The best part is, this is not just a dinner kind of thing, I will have breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even extras covered! So please enjoy my personal list of what I consider the best spots to eat, as well as certain typical Roman dishes that cannot be missed when visiting. All of these spots are not far off of certain tourist spots as well, making them not only delicious, but also very convenient to get to. I've been living in Rome for the past month now and all of these places have already been on my list even before I saw your video. So many of these are among my favourites out of everything I have had; I completely agree with a lot of your recommendations! The food here is definitely spectacular. A ton of the places recommended in your video were also suggested to me by locals, so you know it has to be good. Something that I've found with Roman food recommendations from people from outside Rome is that a lot of tourist traps get recommended and so it's hard to trust them, but yours are spot on. I just subscribed, and am looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
Also, if you haven't been already, another one that is great but also super local is called Pasta Imperiale, their cacio e pepe is amazing and the pasta is nice and fresh.

This is my absolute favorite "Where to eat in Rome" video on youtube (and one of my favorite food recommendation videos in general!). I went to Roscioli Caffe, Bonci Pizzarium, Da Enzo, Da Fortunata, Caffe Sant’Eustachio and EVERYTHING, was sooooo so so so good. Upasana Papadopoulos thank you so much for watching!! Out of the ones I’ve mentioned, if you can eat on the patio (outside) of the Taverns Trilussa restaurant it is quite a romantic atmosphere. I find that the nicer the atmosphere, the most it strays from traditional Roman cuisine and becomes a bit more high end. If you are looking for a more fine dining experience, I remember eating at a restaurant called Antico Arco. It was a bit more expensive but lovely inside. I hope this helps 😊 I find that with most restaurants, just being able to dine outside in a Roman Piazza is romantic.
A lot of interesting recommendations and I am eager to try some of them when I am in Rome in October.
Testaccio is also known for its food like Trastevere but I don't see many recommendations from that rione.
Vito Doria thank you! And you’re right.. but in this video I kept all of my recommendations as central to main tourist attractions as possible! I have many favourite spots not mentioned because they are just not so easy to get to, and as a tourist convenience is very important ☺️
@@ladolcelisa I have certainly noticed that most of them are very close to Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, and the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument. Most of your suggestions aren't very far from the Vatican either.

Hi ladolcelisa, just finished our trip to Rome, it was great. Your recommendations were amazing, antico forno Roscioli for lunch, the pizza and pastries... wow!! Osteria da fortunate wasn’t bad.. but I think I had better pasta at cantina e cucina and mimi e coco (always a line for both places). Didn’t get to go da enzo al 29 because of heavy rain :(. Fridgarium does the BEST gelato.

With Osteria da Fortunata I really liked the Gricia pasta with zucchini flowers, but the last time I went and had the Carbonara, I found it a bit heavy.. Hopefully the quality isn’t going down! I wish I had this info before my trip, last summer. However, my iPhone spoke to me and said my hotel was close to a highly rated restaurant, Old Bear. It's near Piazza Navona. I ate there 2x.
Jēzus Meza I love Old Bear!! I always get the tartare di tonno (tuna tartar) they have a great paella too which is not very Roman but so delicious!! I listed it in my blog post 😊

I’m planning my trip to Rome around your recommendations! 🥰 Do you know if I should make reservations for the dinner places in advance?
Aw that is the best thing I’ve heard all day ❤️If there is one place you should not miss it’s da enzo! Definitely my favourite - It is also the busiest so it is smart to reserve ahead of time, unless you arrive 30 minutes before it opens, and wait in line to guarantee yourself a table. Most of the other places should be ok without a reservation, but you can’t go wrong trying. It’s sometimes difficult getting resos in Italy so that is just aheads up. Also if you try that Terrazza Borromini you will definitely need reservations! Hope this helps 🤗

I would say you’re always better off with reservations, like da enzo for example. Certain other spots is ok if you don’t have that reserved. Sometimes you can even reserve for the night after if you happen to walk by a nice restaurant and it’s full that night ☺️ I hope this helps 🙌

I'm going on a quick trip to Rome for 5 days right after Iceland. Any tips on for someone who doesn't speak the language? We speak fluent English and Spanish.
Hi! Nowadays I find a lot more people speak English in Rome compared to even just 10 years ago. If you speak English you will definitely be ok! You can even download an App like Duolingo to practice. If you’re only there for 5 days though you’ll be ok with just English! Not to mention Spanish is VERY close, so you won’t have problems getting by. Be sure to set a flat rate from the airport to the centre which should cost NO MORE than 50 Euros! 😊

@@ladolcelisa I'm Italian but not roman (I'm from Padova, near Venice). Your video is well done (from a not-italian is one of the best. Well explained and the sites suggested are good). Every town and territory are so different in Italy. About 20 km around you, you can appreciate and find different dishes and abitudes and wonderful products to eat, just move yourself a little. This way is called Biodifferenza. It's very important and could save humanity from (eating and culture) globalization!😄😄
