I love this video!! Down to the point!!. My boyfriend asked me to cut up some collard and put them in a freezer bag. Never done this before so I went to TH-cam kept looking , kept looking, until I saw this lady. WOW!! I'm glad I did. He love these collard green. Thank You!! This is my future husband and I'm working on getting it right in my kitchen. 👍
I also put them in very cold water Once I take them out of the boiling water. This stops the heat from continuing to cook them, and maintains the green color. I drain off the cold water and then put them into ziplock bags to freeze. 🤗
Love it! Your method makes sense. These other people are freezing them without blanching them.. makes for some rubbery greens. Thank you for this video!
Freezing a ton of greens. Something to me to watch a video because last time they were like rubber.... now I know why. Thank you. Love love your energy ❤️ 💕
😂😂😂😂SMH I LOVE YOU ❤️😘 AND IF I DIDNT UNDERSTAND IN THE BEING BY THE END AND U CUSSING I BET I GOT IT NOW😂😂HAVE A BLESSED DAY SWEETIE I ENJOYED THIS VIDEO🙏🏽🙏🏽
Grat video. I normally will run my blanced greens under cold water to cool them down before putting them in the freezer bag. I make sure they are cool first.
Just finished putting em in the freezer. I’m saving em for Christmas 🎄 . I’m going to have to go back out and buy a few more bags and bunches before it becomes to hard to find.
Teach us Triggy, we're listening!! I love me some collards.... Yes, they MUST be cleaned first..... ANNIE RUTH (RIP) taught you well!! Thanks for sharing ❤️😘
Yessssss mama did teach me well. I'm waiting on my video equipment and I'm going to start doing all kind of videos but right now I'm in the process of moving

Ms Triggy!!! I Love your energy. ❤️I love this video. You made me smile and laugh today. 🤣🥲Thank you so much. I subscribed before I got halfway through the video. Girl..,you got me thinking I know sumpn now. 👍🏽 I can’t wait to get in there and work on them greens. Thanks again for bringing joy and knowledge. 🙏🏽I can tell you love what you do. I needed this. Please keep it up.
Thank you! My Big Mama told me they got tough if you froze them. But she didn’t know the blanching secret. She did it with butter beans etc but not collards. It’s NYE and I bought extra so I can freeze some.
Hey Shanna! This is Nita..your sister Angie’s cousin. Way back in the day when we would come down to Warner Robins for the summer. Love your videos, I’m learning. Keep ‘em coming 😃
Heeeey Nita! How are ya? I hope all is well I heard about your mom you and your sister have my deepest condolences I love you guys and thanks for watching keep it up there's more to come. I'm starting up of some new videosin a few more weeks so continue to watch and I hope that you will and thank you so much for watching.
I do my greens the same way, but I use a colander to put my Blanche greens in and then transfer into big freezer bags and mark the name of the greens date and year I freeze them.I do my meat the same way only after washing the meat I season it and mark it name ,date, year and date I freeze it.
Thanks for the video! Brought back memories from my youth! Also, do you compost your stems and do you worry about the plastic melting when you put them In the bag hot like that! Love the energy and video! Thanks!
Listen Honey sent me here, cut them a check 🤣. It’s nearly impossible to get collard greens where I am, I miss them dearly. If someone gave me a box of stems only, at this point I would braise and eat them with a smile on my face 😁. You should have cracked open a Natural Ice while you were blanching.
Lmao 😂😂 😂.. you so silly but I should've!! Hell I need one now! Thanks for coming over and viewing me. I thank u for ur support!! I'll be ova and show the same love. I always trade with the ones who trade with me. Much love and whenever u down in Georgia. Hit me up I'll cook them collards for ya!😂
Triggy Brown I won’t be in Georgia, let alone back home in America, until 2021. In fact, I’ll probably be visiting the country Georgia before Georgia the state, it’s a little closer 🤣.
@@ChefOrelleYoung wow! I didn't know that u were actually across seas. Well.. whenever ur back. Just got me up and we will have lol.. collard Greens together. How does that sound my friend?
Does the water have to be boiling the whole time? Like when I put the mustards in the boiling water, the water quits boiling (obviously...) but never returned to boiling the entire time even after turning up the heat. So I went ahead and removed the greens after 5 mins anyway... will this work? I’m trying to get water back to boil now before I put the next batch in to blanch.
I have some greens that I blanched and I have some fresh greens also because once I blanched what I had it looked like I wouldn’t have enough. Are there any special cooking instructions I should know when mixing frozen and fresh collards?
No there isn't any special way to cook it they both are still fresh just one is frozen and the one isn't. Just salt the water a little to taste put ur smoked meat, onion a little sugar, red pepper 1 tbs of vinegar and some bacon drippings in it and you got some gooooooood Greens baby. Lol.. Thank me later!!
She’s asking because you said “blanching” and when white people do this, they take it out of the pot and then immediately throw them in ice water - that’s what they call blanching. When we donit, we take them out, let ‘em dry and then put them in a freezer bag like you’re doing. We call that parboiling but since you said blanching, it confused her and she immediately thought about ice. 😬
Oh my.. when u blanch them it preserves them by keeping it's color and flavor. It always makes them tough when u dont blanch them and throw them straight into the freezer .they will be super tough when u cook them. It's not too late just take them back out of the freezer tomorrow and blanch them for about 3-4 mins and place them in a freezer bag and back into the freezer.
I love this video!! Down to the point!!. My boyfriend asked me to cut up some collard and put them in a freezer bag.
