The ambulance sold in November. Thank you for all the interest.
This rig was designed and built to be a true off grid, full time living, 4 season, boondocking tiny house. Complete with all the comforts of home including, heat pump cooling and radiant floor heating.
The rear box of this rig originally served as an ambulance. I chose to build my home in an ambulance because of the extremely high build quality and toughness of an emergency service vehicle. The read box is made of welded 2x2” square aluminum tubing covered in seamless 1/8” aluminum sheeting. This makes the rear box extremely rigid and safe, in fact an ambulance box is one of the few rear cabs rated for human occupants to survive a rollover in the event of a crash.
    Power system
Thanks to the high power density of the Tesla battery modules and the 1340 watts of high efficiency solar, the electrical system will run the mini split heat pump all day in the sun and still charge the batteries! You will be cool even in the hottest weather. You can cook with the induction cook top, use the microwave, charge laptops or play games, electrically make hot water and live a very comfortable life with little compromises.
4 Solar Panels 1340 Watts total (high efficiency)
2 Tesla Battery Modules at 24v 500Ah 10.4kWh total capacity
Victron BlueSolar MPPT 150v/ 60 amp Solar charge controller

I built this rig for sub zero winters and I lived in this rig during the polar vortex where I experienced -34 f wind chills. The diesel air and hydronic heaters kept me and the floor of mat rig warm and comfortable with my only chore of filling the diesel tank every 4 days or so.
In the summer I run the mini-split heat pump off my solar /batteries and chill out in the cool.

Thank you for painting it and making it *NOT* look like the normal emergency vehicles.
It should be illegal for people to make use of ambulance and keep it looking like a normal emergency ambo.
Never understood why people do that, but when they do do that, they are asking for unwanted attention.
    Yours already looks good.
    Thanks for sharing.

i actually had the same ambulance! 1990. i was gonna convert to a camper. but it was already hard to get insurance on this vehicle anyway, and the insurance i did find on it, they told me the minit I start modifying it with cooking stuff, etc they wouldnt insure it any longer. but these are the vehicle you want to camp in, as they are built well, and actaully have good walls and insulation unless a standard motorhome, where the walls are cheap particle board or less inferior products.

over the top inspiration of the Box Artic Vortex survivor, such labor of love utilizing diverse skill sets Jason. I understand installing the Dickerson Diesel heater which gives off dry heat to prevent mold and the RV living condensation during early moring cold spells. Bluetti 500 solar generator would make a great substitution for the tesla batteries, but Jason's choice of solar charging, montoring and redundancy of shut off shunts is safety wise notable. I just purchased a smaller version F350 fire rescue crew transport hailing from Boulder Colorado. DMV can do an inspection of the conversion and change the Title over from commercial to camper RV by using the original stamp Manufacturing original chassi F350 VIN ID tag numbers before the Ambulance conversion "AMB" printed on the title.

Nice! I'm building one right now and like your layout. I'm installing hydronic heating also with redundant backup. My big dilemma is the use of all the outside storage lockers and weather I need more interior space.
I also have a 9000btu mini split heat pump. I originally wanted to mount the compressor exactly where you did, but I put it over the cab instead. Do you have any issues with dust and dirt building up or do you keep it covered while traveling? Very nice job! You have given me inspiration!
