- What's your favorite love scene?
The departure at the end of "Casablanca?"
Jumping from the wall in "Trust?"
"Annie Hall" is widely appreciated. But this gorgeous scene seems to have been totally forgotten.
Tugs at my heart. Loved Annie Hall!
Awesome...!!! I used to be a 17 yr old projectionist back in 77 when Annie Hall was released. When this scene came up, I would turn up the sound in the theater, go sit in the very front row and watch Annie sing this song over and over and over... what a babe... I fell in love with the song and her..!!! Thanks
Wow. That's must be a very beautiful, nostalgic memory.
I still remember being gobsmacked at how good a singer diane keaton was/is. it take real mastery to sing a song this slowly. anyone can fake uptempo or rock numbers. On a song like this there's nowhere to hide. Brava, Diane.
I moved into a new place and watched Annie Hall on TV. You know what it's like , everything still in boxes and settling in.tired and getting used to my new place.
One of my completely content times that watching this takes me back. Great movie and Diane is Annie Hall.
This scene is more than just a good song it completes her character development showing her confidence and that she can stand on her own
Yep, that's Diane Keaton singing, still hauntingly beautiful 32 years later. I was in my 20s then; pushing 60 now (movie was 1977). I appreciate this clip more than you know. For those of you who have not seen the movie (too young), watch it. Some things about relationships never change.
The first time I saw Annie Hall, I was completely mesmerized by this scene. I love Diane Keaton so much. Absolutely beautiful!
Besides that voice...she is doing some of the best eye acting I've ever seen.
Back again....Diane is still the best...the eyes, the look,....
I thought the decision to play this at the end with the Alvy/Annie montage after they met again at the restaurant was brilliant. Perfect song for the montage.
This performance and the ending montage of Alvey and Annie just breaks my heart every time. It just fills me with a painful sense of longing...
This performance of hers, singing this song, is the sole reason why she deserved that Oscar....
I come back to this now and again....still as superb as ever...thanks Diane...
yeah man, you are right. When people talk about Annie Hall, they forget this scene...but it added so much to the movie! Mostly that she was gaining her confidence, because of Alvie Singer...the same confidence which would inspire her to leave him. GREAT WAY TO SHOW THAT THINGS ARE CHANGING.
I watched Annie Hall at the cinema the other day, sat right at the front and was absorbed in this song, i got goosepimples and nearly cried as it had always been a dream to see this on the big screen. Raw actors always make the best singers...
this scene has not been totally forgotten - at least by me impeccable taste, restraint and feeling all missing from today's "music" such a loss
Just watched again that movie... It's so hard to qualify it, so unconventional yet bursting full of moments like this one.
Seems like old times, having you to walk with,
It seems like old times, having you to talk with.
And it's still a thrill just to have my arms around you,
It’s still the thrill that it was the day I found you,
It’s just like old times, dinner dates and flowers,
It’s just like old times, staying up for hours,
Making dreams come true, doing things we used to do,
It seems like old times, being here with you.
Thanks for posting the original lyric. Keaton departs slightly from the original. I wish she hadn’t.
Beautifully done. At age 72 this is still my favorite movie song performance! Diane Keaton in Annie Hall was beyond romantic!!
I cry every time
The eyes, the smile, the voice.....sublime. And I'll just echo all that has already been posted...
Such a great film.... It's innocently neurotic and so romantically unorthodox.
Tugs at my heart😢
Best version of this song EVER
I"m with you Walter. This is utterly exquisite. It's something how she isn't primarily a singer. But all the right components come together here. It isn't even that well known a song. But Woody knows his music. Unless Dianne helped him pick it. Doesn't really matter. This version makes me know that life is worth living. It's that good.
Mick Berry "This version makes me know that life is worth living. It's that good." Ironic isn't it?
Mick Berry Couldn't have said it better. Thank you.
Your comment is the one I agree with the most.
My first marriage. We were a couple of kids in our 20s when we saw this. Seems like old times, indeed. And good ones.
Simply beautiful...still breaks my heart so many years later.
The perfect actress, the perfect muse, the perfect words, the perfect song... it's all a director and screenwriter needs to make a masterpiece!
Thanks Allen, Thanks Keaton! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🍾💫❤
I love the breathless way she sings this. Love Love Love it!
Me too!
She was a chronic smoker
It's late and I couldn't sleep so I decided I needed to hear this one more time.
Seems like not just old times, but another lifetime ago; in my 20s, with my ex, my daughter was 1. It's different now, not worse or better, just different. That's life. But this song and her performance and this movie take me back, which I guess they are supposed to do. Think I will watch it one more time.
An understated and subtle performance which counterpoints the comedy that follows. Absolutely gorgeous.
I love this. I wish she had an album out with all her songs on it.
Michael Minock she did but I think its out of print.
That is unfortunate, yes.
Not even a singer and no one ever sung this song better! BRAVO!
I would buy everything she sings ... she is perfection
I absolutely love this scene
I'd like to hear her It had to be you without those clacking noises of glasses or dishes.
@@村田茂明 I wouldn't change a thing - it was and is perfect.
I think Diane's version is the best one out there, it's very plain and simple and I don't think anyone else has done it better.
It's a dream come true. So sensitive, so well sung. Mesmerizing indeed!
What an all around talent
this is breaking my heart in every possible way
yes, mine too.
This isn't worth letting your heart break over. Try a Sinatra song, then you'll really have a song worthy of your heart.
Don't watch this if you don't like feeling all the feels.
Agree!
+Katy Horton It always gets me every time I watch it!!
Meravellosa, wonderful Diane
how i love you Diane of the few actresses who are beautiful by nature
wonderful song by diane keaton . i didntk know that she coud sing so beautiful
I am back again...I love this song and the delivery by Keaton is mesmerizing
What a terrific version and sung straight from the heart.
my favorite song from that movie. i heart diane keaton!
Diane is truly wonderful. love her voice. great song.
I love Woody's face at the end for a split second, he looks so stunned.
GOD I LOVE THIS
Incomprehensible but she tore my heart out....
This makes me remember all the feelings are inside of me. Amazing.
Her voice is like a bell - really lovely. She was in the original stage version of "Hair," and is on the cast album.
Hauntingly beautiful. The highlight of this wonderful movie. So touching and beautiful. A wonderful actress, then and now.
she is beautiful and has a great voice.
From my favorite movie...
Her vocal technique is of broadway's class!
Yes and she is paying homage to that broadway vocal style - very deliberate.
Nothing can make me not love this
Maravilhosa interpretação de Diane Keaton! Wonderful...
My favorite movie singer.
She started to make an album but never finished it. DAMN!
Wonderful song and singer
She is perfection
this scene is so perfect
i love annie hall the character
the film
and allens writing
amoungst my top 10 of all time
This is a great movie and a great clip.
It is one of my favorite films by Woody and Diane Keaton is perfect for the part.
This would be on my movie top-ten list. Glad this was posted.
Beautifully sung! 🎤🎵🎼
She does a wonderful job in this movie and with this song. If I were a lounge singer, which was one of my dreams, I'd love to be this good. The delivery of the lines, the mysterious eye movements, the incorporation of sincere feeling, all of it is really cool and special. Diane Keaton showcases the greatness of the song through her performance. Cheers. ~riss g.
Wonderful actress, wonderful singer, wonderful movie.
This is a wonderful scene! Thank you for posting it.
she is just adorable.
Beautiful verson of a beautiful song.
so beautiful
I almost forgot to watch this today.
Really lovely performance..the voice, the looks she gives to the audience.. Lovely.. Very touching.
I haven't yet seen this film. I so must. This is sweet.
AME ESTA PELICULA COMO NIGUNA OTRA!
And seriously, how could 21 viewers "thumbs down" this....?
We watched this movie in my Jewish Writers in America class and it just immediately connected even though I have never been to New York and am not Jewish. Woody Allen just completely picks up what it means to be an awkward, fretful nerdy guy in love and Diane Keaton was absolutely amazing in her role. This is truly one of my favorites.
great piano nice vocals
I agree about the piano.
All ladies who like to sing should learn from this! It definately can't hurt.
Wonderful.
yeah, thanks for posting...simply amazing.
My great-grandparents haven't even been born yet, but I love this movie.
I was looking for this version of this song on iTunes. Thanks for posting.
Hermosa canción, interpretación inolvidable.
*sigh*. Loved two women, and my first wife was one of them, back in the '70s. Loved the second, starting in the '90s, and we're kind of together now, but not married. I could run off with Diane Keaten, but I'm OK where I'm at. Will never be as lovely as this song, though.
I love her voice, she should be a singer.
she is so good, i can't even comment
simply beautiful
the best movie ever
Keaton rocks it. "Alvie you were great, you were just great".
Thanks for posting.
Happy New Year!
Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians brought me here.
im 39 ive watched this since i was a kid and this still gives me the chills does movies realy suck these days or am i just getting old?

May I fuckin' cry?

+Frank Fensler
Hey Frank, go fuck yourself !
+Brooklyn Eye Doctors Wow, are you literate. Know any words with two syllables? But wait, if you really are from Brooklyn, that explains everything. 08/29/15
Wink!
to be a great comic actress, you must have mastered the drama.
She sing this song best of all
Wonderful!
Loverly.
beautiful song
Love her!!!
