I've just bought a 9-3 - 2008 Saab, from an owner that really didn't take care of the car, so as you can imagine, lots of things are not working or just broken by negligence or just pure laziness. Your videos are what I needed. These are the best DYI videos I've seen in long, long time! Straight to the point, additional advices, useful information, clean speaking, no annoying music, etc. You are an awesome person! Thank you!
Thank you, that was really very clear. This the first time I saw you on YT. Not often to find someone having understanding of the techniques, but also having patience and empathy for the novices among us. Clear video, not obstructed by any body parts, no bad language, without superfluous repetition. A pleasure.
You teach nicely, unfortunately I own a 1999 Saab 95 SE 6 cylinder, I think it's the old generation, but I still love it and wish you had the 95 instead of the 93, because then I would be set having you as my teacher for life on my 95 🙂. Any one else out there or you, teacher, can do 95 repairs to show us 95 owners, because, so far your the best teacher, because you explain everything nicely to a precision manner, love you man 👍
Probably in the summer, I'm planning to do more videos about the door inner workings and also gonna investigate and try to resolve annoying rattles coming from the doors.
That was a very instructive and helpful video. Thank you for explaining that so clearly that even a non mechanic like me can understand it. You've got a new subscriber. 👍
Thank you! Fixed my regulator on rear driver side door 6 months ago and must have not attached the plastic seal very well as now we’re getting slammed with rain here in CA my window is leaking onto the footwell behind driver seat. I got more butyl tape just in case and needed a refresher on getting door card off. Hoping that’s the issue. Will find out later today.
Do you have a video about making the physical interior door handle work? I think you briefly covered it in this video . I had to take door interior off yesterday to replace speaker but now I can’t open the door from the inside
Thank you! This video helped me change my broken window on the driver side to a new one. It took me 4 hours to do it. Tricky to clean out the interior from broken glass. Maybee you could make a video on how change a side window on a 9-3. I could not find any. Big thanks!
Could you make a video of you upgrading the cable between the battery and the alternator? The positive cable of course. I need to do that myself soon. :)
The rear casings come off the same way as the fronts 👍. Don't try to pull the door shedder off. It is flimsy foam sheet and is stuck on with strong 'mastic'. Cut the mastic with a craft knife with a new blade. Once you've exposed the door cavity, the latch is easy to get at.
Hi Cyd, is there a 'noddy guide' for solving the drivers door locking button only coming up intermittently please? Not sure if it's related to the passenger side door window not working from the drivers door card switch..
I have a 9-3 Convertible, I need to replace the handle. I have a spare , I know there are 2 x Torx screws on the outside, is there also one on the inside of the door panel? If so would I still need to undo the cables or is there enough slack?
Hey! Thank you so much for your incredibly educational videos. Very helpful! I have a question though. Do you have a video showing how to fix the membrane inside the door panel? I have the problem with my saab 9-3 2006 that water leaks in through the back door and then through the sill down to the floor. Would be extremely grateful for a video showing how to fix the water-repellent membrane. Apparently a common mistake on these nice cars. Keep up the good work, I keep looking :)
Not yet! Once the casing is off the door, you can remove the shedder by using a craft knife to cut through the butyl that holds it on. It's quite a feeble foam used as stock. Get some of this to replace it with s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_98tbH1. 6mm thick is good. 100x50 will do one door and 200x50 will defo do 2 doors maybe 3. Cut out the shape (either use card or the old one as a former) and simply stick it to the door panel in place of the old one. Don't forget the cable entry points!
@@CycloneCyd Thanks so much for the tip! Have temporarily fixed it with tape so that the water does not enter the cabin. Should definitely order a replacement and fix it properly. Thanks so much! Have a nice day :)
@@MINIMOTOMADNESS yeah, mine's the F40 too. It does have a number of issues, generally. On mine I have no problem going into 1st even on the move at 10mph. First thing to do is change the fluid. I use Castrol Multivehicle 75w90. The problem is most likely a worn or soft rubber insert on the fore/aft change cable at the gearbox. I am planning to do a mini series on gearchange issues, but later in the year.
Thank you Syd for excellent quality documentary in laymen terms we can all understand. i'm going to tackle the "squeeky" but still functioning heater fan, clicking dashboard recirc unit & pollen filter re seal as per your video. Ive owned this car 5 years now and the speedometer works one day then not the next. It will work for a week then not work for a few days then back to working. I expected it to totally die after 5 years but it still does the same. Any thoughts on the this problem would be very appreciated Syd
@@CycloneCyd hello i think the problem was that the wiring was being pinched by something as i closed everything up. I taped everything closer to the door panel so it stays in place as i close it and it seemed to do the trick. The locks work as normal now👍
@@CycloneCyd I saw another video with a variation how you snap it off. But mine were really tight. I've been upgrading my 9-3 Aero. This weekend I'll install SPA with the propper cable harnesses and the AMP2+speakers+harness

Hi Cyd, great video as always. Do you have a link to the solar panel that you use to keep your battery topped up?
