    After watching your video I ordered this opener. I have a old Sears opener with dip switches. It works great and range is clear out to my street. I am very happy. Thanks for doing the video.

    7:35 Doesn;t bending the antenna in the middle, change the frequency sensitivity? What about keep it straight, but bend it at the base near the black box?

    The only thing that I would like to say is a low voltage transformer does not have a positive and negative. Look at the plug it is not polarized.

    9:40 Reception distance probably decreases when inside your car. 9:46 Wow, that door moves slowly. Are those 1/4 HP opener units? My wife is impatient and wants to see an open door as soon as she hits the driveway. She always drives to the STOP light before she releases the accelerator.

  • @SpeedSyko

    I know it sounds silly, but if you hold a transmitter under your chin touching your skin, it will transmit further. I found this out by mistake working at a Lexus dealer on car remotes looking for cars far away in the lot. Give it a try once your out of range.

    • @DavidJWarEagle
      @DavidJWarEagle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve done that before with a car key fob, and it seems like I read that it helps to open your mouth to direct the signal. I have no idea if that’s true or not. Haven’t tried this with a garage door opener remote.

    I'm horrible at this stuff, I would have drilled a whole through the wall and mounted the receiver outside for a longer reach lol Anyhow, Subbed.

    Is there a way to program two remotes to it? Trying to have a remote in my car and my wife's car.

    • @DavidJWarEagle
      @DavidJWarEagle  ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as I know you can program multiple remotes and you would follow the same pairing process with the additional remote.

  • @pleitgeb

    Are you able to add an additional remote instead of one?

    • @DavidJWarEagle
      @DavidJWarEagle  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, we actually have two of these receivers, one for each garage door. I can open either door from either car with two remotes, one in each car. I also have Homelink built into my car and that works as well with this receiver.

  • @ajc4132
    @ajc4132 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you program car’s homelink buttons as well or only the genie remote?

    • @DavidJWarEagle
      @DavidJWarEagle  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I used the Homelink module built into my car with this universal receiver. It worked great. 👍

    I have a Raynor garage door opener dated May 1990. What remote can I use for that?

    • @DavidJWarEagle
      @DavidJWarEagle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know about that brand specifically. This universal receiver wires into the button circuit so, in theory, it should work with any older opener that has a button.

    • @DavidJWarEagle
      @DavidJWarEagle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cut off the antenna from the control board and toggled the dip switches to a random combination. As far as I know that’s all you can do to disable the old system.

    Can you add a wireless keypad to this

    • @DavidJWarEagle

      Yes, it should work fine. As far as I know those are basically a wall mounted remote with a keypad so it should pair up like a normal remote.

    • @DavidJWarEagle
      @DavidJWarEagle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t know for sure but I am guessing that it will work if your opener has screw terminals for the wall button. I’m not sure what you mean by “back plug in” but you might be able to splice the remote in if you can identify the two wires that connect to the wall button. Sorry I can’t be more help.
