I did actually wonder. If separating them after mating meant he could keep mating with other female mantises, I'd understand, but if retirement meant just living in a box alone... What if he Would Have preferred to be eaten by his Empress so he could help nourish their future brood? Like, I understand being vigilant before and during, to make sure he didn't get eaten BEFORE he fertilized her eggs. But. After he was done? Eat him, mama! I'm not a croc expert, but I have heard that some crocs and gators will swallow small pebbles to help digest their food. I think that's what the caiman is trying to do at 16:06.
I was thinking that too but wanted to scroll to find some one else who though the same. As with you, i am no croc expert but it does seem like what he was doing. My Beardy would take in mouth fulls of sand at times too and i was told that was what he was doing.

I would personally name him Irwin in honor and tribute of Steve, the Crocodile Hunter, arguably the greatest conservationist we, as wildlife enthusiasts, ever had the privilege of watching. He’s a hero of mine and a man who inspired so many others to take on the responsibility we have as a species to protect the beautiful world we live in. Nowadays, his family and children continue to uphold his legacy, never resting in spreading his message of conservation and awareness for the often misunderstood creatures that inhabit this planet along with us. Spectacled Caimans actually are very terrestrial for crocodilians, traveling relatively far inland especially at night. This is part of why the species is vulnerable to jaguars.
Isn’t everything vulnerable to jaguars though? I mean they’re jaguars, I’ve seen the videos of them killing crocs in water. Those things pack a serious punch in that bite
@@master_zar Those videos are rare moments often taken due to opportunism or seasonal stress causing the jaguar to be more daring in taking prey. I mean logically if a jaguar has a buffet of options why would it choose the option that is most likely to cause injury and meeting that prey in its own element where the jaguar is at a disadvantage? Caiman aren't normally part of their diet but spectacled caiman spending more time on land triggers opportunistic predation more often than other caiman species.
I wonder, regarding AntsCanada's plan to move the caiman to the outdoor pond, if he'll also need a terrestrial space? Or do they stay in the water when they're adults?

It's so funny I've been living in central FL since 2008 and I spend a lot of time outside, and I have yet to see a mantis. I'm from East Central Illinois and there were giant brown mantis everywhere up there, especially in the late spring and early summer youd see them right out in the open hanging out on tree trunks. And they were very people friendly and didn't mind being picked up and gently handled for a few minutes. I just find it amazing because where I'm from in Illinois there are 3 months exactly of actual summer weather and by early September you will quickly have frost on the ground in the morning time. And it gets cold quickly. Mantis were all over the place. I have not seen one yet since I've been in Florida. I'm sure they're here, maybe its just because I live in a busy city. There used to be armadillo here too and you dont see those anymore either anywhere, and I've talked to people who remember flamingos being here in the 1970s and those definitely are nowhere to be seen here anymore. I've seen one in the time I've been here and it was flying overhead when I saw it. There's just too many people here and there are more and more people by the day and fewer and fewer species of unique native wild life to be seen around here anymore. It will be awesome to see your ecosystem with mantises, that will certainly add to the action going on around there.
Ditto. What he said. @AntsCanada I think you should’ve found a way to properly keep the weaver ants safe before you put them and their eggs in the terrarium. This is like National Geographic stuff! What a beautiful job you have done with filming and making this ecosystem. Like you said, we never see this in the private of the wilderness. Now you have brought this for everyone to see. Thanks!
omg, I dunno but I'm amazed by this so much. It's like experiencing wildlife inside a home. This type of environment makes me feel real, like real life.. I can't explain it
I woke early this morning ready for a productive day but got onto TH-cam clicked the first video in the algorithm and I got so hooked by this series I binged watched every episode!!! It’s 22 videos so far that’s around 11hrs of non stop watching… Today was my only day off… and I’m not some biology enthusiast I have no idea why this was recommended to me but I’m so glad it was I don’t regret anything! Best day off ever!!!
Heey! I think a pretty good adittion to the terrarium itself could be a night-vision camera to catch the frogs singing or how the animals behave in complete darkness!!! i love this series
I'm waiting for baby mantis kids. They are so adorable. Like sprites from a miniature world. The croc is doing so good. He's such a sweet boy. It's usually the girl Crocs I find very hissy prissy. You gotta let the baby come to you for food, but there is plenty of food for him in there, so try a new kinda food that's not available in his kingdom. I love his kingdom 😍💕 You should maybe get some information from crazy caiman lady. She's the best croc mom in the whole world. I've learnt so much from her about how to train your dino dragon.
I believe the caiman is performing gastroliths which is where the caiman swallows stones to aid in digestion but as there are no stones small enough for the caiman to eat, it is just biting the ground looking for one. The caiman is after stones to grind up the tough exoskeletons of the cockroaches.
I think Steve or Irwin would be a great name, as a tribute to Steve Irwin- The Crocodile Hunter ❤ he was a huge part of my and many others’ childhoods and is an admirable name to hold 🥰
This is the coolest thing i've seen on youtube thus far. Maybe you should make other ecosystems and different environments along with the prey, and predators that rule the according environment. That would be so dope. I wouldve never been interested in these animals like this if it werent for this cool enclosed landscape sort of thing. Very dope!
It feels like chompy matches his personinality, it sounds like a great name, and I remember in the last episode he was chomping on some foods, including this episode
Crocodile expert here; There's two options, one the baby croc was trying to eat pebbles to help him digest the food, and two he wanted a caesar salad with his meal
Why is it the clever comments have no likes and stupid ones like "GODZILLA" have thousands... I hate that he's gonna have to pick that name because it's the most popular when it's so on the nose compared to something like Goji
He was biting the ground due to looking for rocks to swallow to help grind up and digest his food - all crocodilians do this, resulting in a lot of odd things being found in their stomachs - we've even found Indian arrowheads and stone tools in their stomachs down here in Florida. I'm glad that accidental hide turned out to be in there as that is necessary for reptile physical and mental health - a place where they can hide and feel safe and secure. Also glad to see you're doing a little bit to get him used to you - see my comments on your first video though as if this is all you're doing, it isn't enough.
The baby croc knew just what to do. He will slowly become more comfortable in his environment and slowly learn the giant 2 legged creature that brings food is not a threat.
The little guy is beyond cute and impressive. I really like to see him thrive in Pantdora, he seems really happy and free. There's something so heartwarming about him having his own little room and him watching the 'moonlight' at night.
Can we please have a build video of the expansion? That would be really cool to have an inside of how you build it and set it up, and would give us more sense when the next masterpiece comes :D
The minute I opened my eyes I grabbed my phone to watch AntsCanada BUT there was a wolf spider on my shoulder NO JOKE…I SCREAMMMMED..I wonder how long it had been on or in me while I slept. I’ve never been more traumatized lol.
Such good story telling. I wish I had heard stories like these as a kid, because I loved all these creatures as a child. It would be great if you took photos and made a few kids stories. Then maybe more people would like these tiny but so interesting creatures.
The first time the caimen swallowed the roach, he looked like he was smiling for the camera like he was so proud of himself then BOOM regurgitation lol
I havent watched you in years man.. The last time you were building your home.. I am so happy for you to see your new setups.. they look amazing!! my fave colony was the yellow crazy ants..
Has there ever been another indoor, human-created enclosure made for animals to live in, that regularly has insects trying to get IN? I mean seriously, this is like the 3rd or 4th time that there have been animals on the outside of the glass just hanging out. Like a fly on a window trying to get out, these guys are trying to get back in. That’s a true testament to how natural this system is. You created a truly self contained ecosystem with a balanced life cycle. I absolutely love this channel and tell all my friends about it. I’m only 5 minutes in and the videos another banger as always, keep it up Mikey! 👏 🪺🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🌿🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🌱🐜🐜
the whole scene where the croc was on land and hunting the roach actually reminded me of some type of real Jurassic park. It doesnt even look like they are small
That croc expert who told you “OHHH it’s no problem! You can house a croc in here” etc etc….is passionate about crocodilians. He isn’t loyal to the creatures of Pandora….whom we (and especially you) have come to care for and who were there first. He is most definitely going to injure and/or eat Daenerys and Smaugette….sooner than you expect….mark my words….unless you take greater precautions. That croc belongs in its own ecosystem….or Pandora needs to be much larger to give the smaller animals room to hide…the canopy should really help and can’t arrive soon enough, in my opinion! I still love and appreciate all of your videos! I look forward to them each week!
It's as he said in the video, he's too young rn to be worrying about the skinks or the frogs. Most reptiles don't eat what can't fit in their mouth as a general rule and the Caiman is gonna be moved out long before then since it's a very slow grower
I think getting a croc at all was a pretty impulsive choice.. Yes, he probably researched like crazy, but it just doesn't sit well with me. If it injures any of his bigger animals in there I'm just not watching this series anymore.
@@jane-gp2cconly if bigger animals die? Why is the size of the animal what makes you uneasy? if youre fine with the Croc killing roaches becuase that's the circle of life than you also have to accept theyll eat other things in there. Just because you personify and like the bigger animals more doesnt make them any more or less valuable as food or other key roles in the ecosystem.
I think even now the skinks are capable of making refuge well out of reach of the caiman, but the swamp vivarium will act as the crocs ecosystem before it's fully grown and the added vivariums will help even more. He's taken plenty of precaution imo.

Bro you really need a hd slow mo camera for those croc attacks
I second that... I subscribed few minutes ago ☺️☺️ first vid was you introducing Irwin to the forest ❤️
I like it better at speed. It shows you the sheer overwhelming advantage he has.
This is so amazing. Glad this showed up on my home page. Legit beautiful to watch. The story telling and style is great.
Yay, thank you!
That lunge to grab the roach was amazingly fast, I slowed the video down to 1/4 speed and it still lasted barely a frame.
I honestly had no idea they could be that fast
Ikr??!!!! I was going to show an instant replay in slowmo but realized it's no use! All you see is blur for like 1 frame! Lol

Good luck handling it when it gets older…..
Aww, the caiman found himself a hide. No wonder he was calmer, he found a place he can get some privacy.
Lil zilla is making himself very comfortable in his new environment. Can't wait to see him grow up.
This time AC, don't release the weavers until the canopy is ready!
This
Ditto. What he said.
@AntsCanada I think you should’ve found a way to properly keep the weaver ants safe before you put them and their eggs in the terrarium. Normally they’d be on a high leaf where they’d be safe from ground predators and the queens could easily defend from a single angle; from the leaf’s stem. You should’ve found a way to keep them covered and safe from outside predators, or waited until the colony was more mature first. Pandora was full of dangers to them; especially the sun skins, you unfortunately left them as easy targets for predators
RIP Silverio, you performed well. The game of life and death ultimately always picks the latter, however, you excelled beyond hope and expectation. Blessed be your body back unto Pantdora, and may the spirit of your story come back to us in your children
They’re just bugs

I stumbled upon this channel by sheer happenstance, and I have to say I’m addicted already lol🤷♂️. This is probably the best content I’ve seen on TH-cam…..EVER! You get all of the excitement, drama, and weird creatures, and they aren’t human for a change😆😆😆😉.
Thanks for watching
This is like National Geographic stuff! What a beautiful job you have done with filming and making this ecosystem. Like you said, we never see this in the private of the wilderness. Now you have brought this for everyone to see. Thanks!
Thank you for being part of Pantdora's journey! Ant/Croc love forever!

STEVE or IRWIN would be great names for lil croc.. No explanation needed
Explain
@@chosensoul323 steve irwin, the crocodile guy.
He looks like a Steve too
I don't understand. Irwin after the car dealerships? Steve after the guy in that song "Your best friend Steve"?
@@wwbcwpSteve Irwin was an awesome, Australian crocodile guy who passed away due getting stung by a stingray.
omg, I dunno but I'm amazed by this so much. It's like experiencing wildlife inside a home. This type of environment makes me feel real, like real life.. I can't explain it
"Crikey", the croc!, for the late great Steve Irwin.😊
I woke early this morning ready for a productive day but got onto TH-cam clicked the first video in the algorithm and I got so hooked by this series I binged watched every episode!!! It’s 22 videos so far that’s around 11hrs of non stop watching… Today was my only day off… and I’m not some biology enthusiast I have no idea why this was recommended to me but I’m so glad it was I don’t regret anything! Best day off ever!!!
Welcome to the family
I just love this! And I think Smiley would be a great name... but Steve Irwin was SO wonderful... so that's a great fit too!
this is some of the best animal footage ever! The cayman looks so clear it's almost like cgi, the lighting and "set" is so beautiful.
Steve the croc, named after the late steve irwin
OMG YOU POSTED THIS AS WELL!!! LOL I think Steve would be AWESOME!!!
Awesome Idea!
my suggestion was Crocodile Hun Gree
One of his options is Irwin which I like a little better.
Caimans are more like alligators than crocodiles
Heey! I think a pretty good adittion to the terrarium itself could be a night-vision camera to catch the frogs singing or how the animals behave in complete darkness!!! i love this series
❤❤❤good idea
I'm waiting for baby mantis kids. They are so adorable. Like sprites from a miniature world.
The croc is doing so good. He's such a sweet boy. It's usually the girl Crocs I find very hissy prissy.
You gotta let the baby come to you for food, but there is plenty of food for him in there, so try a new kinda food that's not available in his kingdom.
I love his kingdom 😍💕
You should maybe get some information from crazy caiman lady. She's the best croc mom in the whole world. I've learnt so much from her about how to train your dino dragon.
Delta, the name of a Jurassic world raptor and a part of a river system. Rivers are the main habitat for caimans.

Yeah lol
as it should be
Couple years antscanada gonna be sponsored by nat geo or be offered his own show by them all expenses paid
I love Nat Geo!!! ❤
Wound’t be suprised
I believe the caiman is performing gastroliths which is where the caiman swallows stones to aid in digestion but as there are no stones small enough for the caiman to eat, it is just biting the ground looking for one. The caiman is after stones to grind up the tough exoskeletons of the cockroaches.
I find it so cool how u added an expansion to the canopy. I was hoping the canopy was gonna get some more attention!
Hail Irwin, Duke of Aqua Noctis!!!!!!
King of aqua noctis
I think Steve or Irwin would be a great name, as a tribute to Steve Irwin- The Crocodile Hunter ❤ he was a huge part of my and many others’ childhoods and is an admirable name to hold 🥰
16:18 he is swallowing pointy stuff to help with digestion
i love how you when you panned the camera to the caiman it was just waiting for you smiling
Used to watch this channel and came back when I searched up vivarium. Was not disappointed, this is amazing!
This is amazing. I have never watched a baby caimen eat, hunt, grow up etc.
Truly amazing footage.
Croc has to be called Irwin, fitting testament to a truly remarkable man
Definitely Irwin
irwin the piece of poopoo you mean
Poopoo irwin
Yes please irwin
Irwin works for me too. Everything I thought up is lame compared to that. Or name him Steve.
I second this notion. You beat me to the name lol
I called him Mr Chompy last week.
Personality? It eats bugs!
I’m joking btw
Chomper
Yep the Caiman is just as cool as I thought he'd be. Awesome addition!
It would be nice to see small flying insects in this Vivarium, perhaps small butterflies. It would be great to witness metamorphosis inside.
I just discovered this channel and man this should be the goal of any build for any keeper. This is just insane. 🙌🏽
Thank you for doing the arachnophobia warning so consistently. My daughter is terrified of spiders so being able to look away is important
I don’t have arachnophobia. I don’t understand how people can get scared just by looking at spiders.
@@Warriorcat947It's almost like it's a phobia. Literally irrational fear
Crocodile expert here; There's two options, one the baby croc was trying to eat pebbles to help him digest the food, and two he wanted a caesar salad with his meal
Is 60 ft enough for a croc?
Was the Cesar made with ANTchovie paste?😂
You should name him Goji, a subtle nod to the monstrous Godzilla. A regal name for a divine creature in Pantdora
Why is it the clever comments have no likes and stupid ones like "GODZILLA" have thousands... I hate that he's gonna have to pick that name because it's the most popular when it's so on the nose compared to something like Goji
@MrCaptainTea there's been a bunch of comments about naming him irwin, which kinda works more?.
@@alisonlaw I really like that one too cuz I loved Steve Irwin but anything's better than Godzilla lol
Yes, watch the next episode!

Such good story telling. I wish I had heard stories like these as a kid, because I loved all these creatures as a child. It would be great if you took photos and made a few kids stories. Then maybe more people would like these tiny but so interesting creatures.
3:15 Imagine being near a cave and a giant eye looks out like this!😮😮
The first time the caimen swallowed the roach, he looked like he was smiling for the camera like he was so proud of himself then BOOM regurgitation lol

I havent watched you in years man.. The last time you were building your home.. I am so happy for you to see your new setups.. they look amazing!! my fave colony was the yellow crazy ants..
Welcome back!
I agree. It will eat anything that comes near it. It will also grow rapidly.
