    Dear Gabriel let me first thank you for showcasing India to The Western world. You are doing this in a good manner and I am happy that you did not show any disrespect to the less decent things. You have a good knowledge about India and Rishikesh in particular. This video blog of yours reminds me of a Japanese TV show named "somewhere Street". I have been to Rishikesh several times but these Street Views I never had a chance to have. This is your second video I have been watching. the first one was how expensive is Rishikesh. I suggest you watch some episodes of somewhere Street on TH-cam and it will help you create more better videos. Please keep posting your beautiful videos as many like me would be waiting for them.

    I used to operate the white water jet boat above Rishikesh 30 years ago. There is so much to see and do around Rishikesh. I had encounters with tigers, black leopards and elephants up the river and in the valleys. You can head up to hike into the Temples of Shiva way up the Ganges. Go in before the snow melts and there is almost nobody there. Go quick before you get too old.

    17:20 Beware of those pits. They could be a place to do their washroom activities. Also, they usually have an understanding which area is for men and which for women. and if you are in the women's section...for you it won't be an issue..but for an Indian man they could think he has bad intentions

    Dude, I was in Rishikesh for one month doing a Yoga course and I didn’t even realize that there is actually a real town called Rishikesh away from where all the tourists stay. So, a big thank you! However, please let me give you one seriously good advice. Never use your left hand to point, touch (“Jesus”), accept food, money or anything else except to wash your butt with water.
    It never ceases to amaze me how many times I see foreigners in Asia use their left hand. Yes, I know some locals do also but that’s usually a sign of their disrespect of the person they’re dealing with.

    The UN should make you an ambassador of tourism. You leave a trail of class, humbleness and honesty wherever you go. It's prevalent here when you decided not to expose the "slums" for what they are for our benefit. We can feel the sorrow that you do in these situations. Once again you're an exceptional person and we are lucky to have and learn by you.

    25:31 do you or anyone know what it is the man is throwing in the river? It looks like it explodes in the water. I love the music playing on the boat.
    I like that your shows aren't all sensational and hype and you show kindness and class wherever you go. You're a good role model for me. :)

    • @arshifun
      @arshifun 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Initially that white thing that he's throwing is just flowers. Later in the video when u see something exploding in the water, it's actually just a stone which if thrown with a special technique, splashes water in the pattern like it did. But for that to work, the stone has to be sort of flat and light weight.

      I was raised in northern California, and my mom lives there and that's where I've spent more time since 2009, which was the last time I lived in Portland. So my roots are more in California than Oregon. I moved up to Oregon and lived there about seven years but I'm still pretty much a Californian.

      No the guy was totally harmless and just curious. But even if I did have some US dollars on me I wouldn't have shown him, since it's not a good idea to flash cash, regardless of whether you think they're innocent or not.

    • @RaviIndia839
      @RaviIndia839 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blossom Russo. I too would have asked anyone, if met any person like him. Whenever I meet somebody from abroad, the second thing I do after greeting him / her is that, I would seek his currency in exchange of local one. I had done that in past. I try to give them exact conversion, sometimes more just to collect them.
      We don't get chance to travel abroad, so the best thing one can do is to exchange currency to know other country well. It improves your general awareness about that country and it's culture. Sometimes we need to carry enough currency with us when travel abroad. It just improves relation between two countries, and that too with personal touch.
      That's how I view currency.

    • @blossomrusso6457
      @blossomrusso6457 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Gabe, this has probably been brought up before but I'd like to suggest a Q&A video. I'm sure viewers, myself included, would love to pick your brain given your extensive travel experiences all over the world.

    The quality of information in your travel videos is incredible. Are you fascinated by Hinduism?

      Thanks. I'm not sure if I'm fascinated by Hinduism exactly. I'm more fascinated by India in general I guess and yes I find Hinduism very interesting, though I can't say I understand it well, just the basics really.
