I am really digging on these cool towns in northern India. Such a great trek. Here's kind of a cool fact re: Rishikesh. Several months after the death of musician Jerry Garcia, bandmate Bob Weir and Deborah Koons along with Sanjay Mishra spread half of his ashes in the Ganges at Rishikesh. Seems pretty appropriate to me.
Another interesting fact. In 1960s, Beatles decided to come to these regions for a week, they ended up staying for 22 months in an Ashram, wrote around 40 songs while being here, went back and changed the western music for ever. That Indian influence can still be felt in the western music and it opened up our music to Americans in a big way. Being from South, I had travelled through many of these regions 15 years ago, and it's truly a spiritual experience as long as you keep an open mind and keep expectations away.

I just read about how the river Ganga (proper pronunciation) became pronounced and spelled as Ganges. It should just be called the Ganga river. Apparently it goes back to Alexander the great? And the common extension with es. There are many places renamed basically from invading governments
Alexander never made it to mainland India. He had to retreat from the Indus river region(present day Pakistan) after the battle of Hydaspes. Fun Fact: Seleucus(Alexander's successor) married his daughter to Emperor Chandragupta Maurya (Founder of Maurya Dynasty) in exchange for 500 war elephants 😅 this eventually led to a creation of an Indo-Greek Kingdom in present day Pak-Afghanistan around 2000 years back. The Indo-Greeks were Buddhists and that's why Afghanistan had many Buddhist monuments before it became Islamic

Hi! Gabriel..... be cautious while taking a dip in the Ganga..... instances have been reported abt people being sucked in a whirlpool, which is an extremely difficult situation & deaths also. Sometimes people can't resist a swim & r pulled in by the strong river currents...sometimes the sand on the banks of the river just sinks pulling the person into its depths.. Also there r hoardings near the river bank warning of swimming only at designated ghats & not at some places deemed to be not safe for a swim. Numerous such cases r reported in the daily newspapers.. Your orientation is most important to the keen viewer. It took me some time to realize that you crossed the river from its left side (West side in this case) to the right and walked along the river to near the Ramjhula bridge. Please use the terms left bank, right bank and not this bank that bank. People know the direction of flow of the famous river.

Excellent!!! I bet it's pretty hot in Rishikesh right now. It's normally only about 6-10 degrees cooler than Delhi. I prefer the Arti Celebration in Rishikesh. The one in Ram Jhula seems to be more for visitors/tourists. Not really sure? That's where we met briefly in 2017 after the Arti Celebration in Ram Jhula. I believe??? I know there's a lot to do in Rishikesh. I really enjoy the Music Devi Ashram in Tapovan on Tuesday and Saturday evening for the free music.
Rishikesh is love 💗
Rs 100 in 89 and now Rs 3900. Ouch.
Rishikesh is definitely inviting small town. Nice vlog again.
In 85, exchange rate was $1=Rs10
The Laxman jhula is indeed a great walk. I patted a cow who was crossing independent
Water is less we can see sand on shore. Wait for rainy season. Best time I like is November December. Rainy season is also lovely.
@GabrielTraveler Please visit the char dham kedarnath temple is a must , else your trip will be incomplete. Once you visit char dham(4 temples), out of which kedarnath is one- you will feel your journey complete and satisfied. Its 216 km from rishikesh, you can get a bus then trek
Can you please tell me is it raining in Rishikesh in August?
Wonderful from Uttarakhand 💙
Ohh man... Thankyou Gabriel.. 💙💙💙✊
I love Rishikesh and all its possibilities!
Was hoping you would of went deeper into the mountains. But i understand that smoke sucks.
I'll be in Rishikesh in February it'll be my 2nd time in India. I hope the bridge is open again.
Good pointers on where NOT to take a dip in the Ganges. Also, you are pro navigating the alleyways...👍
Would love to see everything you carry in your pack I think viewers and travelers alike would love to see that to help with ideas of how and what to pack
Planning to make that video sometime soon.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos great to hear thanks and Godspeed
V enjoyable video
Great coverage👏
Nice choice of trippy music at 9:07!
@gabrieltraveler are you going to visit the Beatles Ashram? I believe you went there a few years ago.
Yes. Just finished the video.
The vegan tattoo sign might pertain to the tattooist who happens to be vegan. Theoretically, it's about the Indian metaphysics of energy systems superimposed on popular culture that supposes the region of the body being pigmentated by ink is correlated from body to soul, rebirth, and release.
Awesome!!
It's great to see Rishikesh! I stayed in Ram Jhula area and payed 200 rupees for the hotel many years back. Looking forward to see the Ganga Aarti by the Shiva statue.
Did u try river rafting in Rishikesh?
My native is Assam and would like to recommend u North-East, Gujarat, Maharashtra too. Gujrat has many beautiful tourist destinations and many have less footprint of travellers. Maharashtra has also amazing trekking places along with forts best during monsoon.
I traveled almost all Indian corners. Now will explore SE ASIA.
Love from India ❤️
Aww. I’m guessing the bad rides and all the smoke ruined your continued trip north?
Please do visit South India and Northeast India.
Welcome again to Yoga capital of the world.
