    The professionalism of this band is top tier. They do these complex songs one after another, concert after concert, at a consistently high level. When ever I think of this aspect, I have an image of a great symphony orchestra. Great musicians, lots of practice, tight performances.

    Eggman-B-M's favorite club. I was at this show, Sept. '22. Small crowd, following the Covid protocol of cutting capacity in half. "Corallium Japonicum" (赤珊瑚) is a red coral that's polished and designed for necklaces etc. It's polished into spherical shape to depict the "crimson moon" (紅月) of Japanese literature/culture. (Drummer Akane used the name 紅月 for Band-Maiko.) "Corallium" is a metaphorical reference to the subject/narrator of the lyrics. First song for which vocalist Saiki got sole credit as lyricist..

    • @Bodneyblue
      @Bodneyblue 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Doesn't Akane's actual name have something to do with the colour red also?...I am thinking this is also the reason for her preference for red TAMA kits...hehe!...Isn't "Emily" red? (the name of Akane's favourite kit I believe)

    • @otobokegaijin6218
      @otobokegaijin6218 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@Bodneyblue Yes it does. Akane has said that the color of the drum kit was inspired by the Asuka Langley Soryu character of the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. The kanji character of Akane's name, 茜, originally referred to a red-hued dye. The character 紅 of her Band-Maiko name 紅月 also referred to a red-colored dye (though slightly different shade). Each of the Band-Maiko names has some connection to the Maid's name.

      @@otobokegaijin6218 Yeah..knew it was something like that..thanks ..just I can't hold info in my head like I used to...I believe her drum kit also has some custom plates?..I am sure I saw them in a photo..Akane was my original draw to the band..I am a drum guy..And heard of her through comments on other band reactions. Only Japanese band I knew then was GRBK (now TRiDENT)..And that was again because of the bands drummer at the time JUNNA...(though her replacement Hagisa is also a fine drummer..and possibly a better fit for the band?)...Akane has become my No.1 drummer ever..I am 55 so have heard a sizable number over the years...The lady is pure class..not just in her playing, but as a person also.....which alot of musicians lack...They have talent..but no chemistry to engage with...But these things are subjective..like all things in life.

      @@Bodneyblue I think Akane's personality is the most engaging of all the Maids. That certainly helped them in their early years, as she forged good relationships with the booking managers of clubs (most prominently Eggman) and promoters of fests. I first met her and Kanami at one of the club gigs of Mikio Fujioka, late of Babymetal's Kami Band.

    One of my favorite Band-Maid songs!
    When I first heard it, I was thinking 'Whoa, this is a complex song! I wonder how they will pull it off live?'
    Don't know what I was thinking... Of course these ladies nail it! Because they are the best at what they do! 😎🤘

    The COVID protocols in Japan at the time of this performance forbade cheering, which is why the audience can only be heard clapping.

    Another fun tidbit about this song is that it's the first song Saiki wrote the lyrics for! "Hate?" is the second. Both are great songs!

    Corallium is another brilliant song. We are blessed to be living in 'The Time Of The Maids'. So many great pieces of music.

    Adding to the Beatles comparison. This was recorded live at the tiny Eggman live house in Shibuya Tokyo in Sept 2022. Eggman is to Band-Maid what the Cavern is to the Beatles. They played there a lot when they were just starting out, so much that the staff there joked that they might as well move in! It was great for them to return to their roots and play there again, they even livestreamed the concert. And in my honest opinion it had the best sound recording of any live recording they ever did, even better that their Studio Coast live recordings.
    The full live recording of this concert has never been released (yet), it's not even on Band-Maid Prime (I think one track is). I suspect it will be released as a bonus with a limited addition single or album - which is how they have released their live concerts in the past.
    Also, Eggman is almost directly the opposite side of the street to the much larger Line Cube Shibuya. The band must of looked up at it many times loading out their gear into their van after a half empty Eggman show and dreamt of one day playing there. Of course they did, selling it out completely in 2018! Yet they still went back and played Eggman!

      Yes Davey....Would love to see them at Eggman..Oh!..just had a thought!..Imagine seeing them play half a gig at Eggman..then cross the road and play the rest at Line Cude!...hehe!...I stayed at a hotel just up the road from these venues in Janauary..and passed between them a number of times while there..Walking from Shibuya to Harajuku and Shinjuku. Took a couple of snaps of me under the Eggman sign..like the the ladies did...hehe!...They want to play the big venues of course..but they love the places that gave them a voice years ago and so love to play them...which is cool!..Just wish I could be there!...hehe!...Also wish I could of spent an evening at SHELTER...The club (STARRY) used for the anime "Bocchi the Rock"..I visited it to take a snap..but time was against me to actually take in a gig.

    • @Davey-Boyd
      @Davey-Boyd 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Bodneyblue Hi Bodney! Moving venue half way through a gig is enough to give the sound/lighting engineers nightmares! And never mind the two full sets of equipment lol! Shame you didn't get a gig at SHELTER. These Japanese live houses must be almost standard, because when I saw Band-Maid at Sapporo the venue (Penny Lane 24) was very similar, but Akita Club Swindle was absolutely identical to SHELTER/STARRY, only difference was instead of going downstairs and turning left in Akita and Sapporo I turned right. It was on the stairs leading into Akita Club Swindle I met Kanami's family. I think Eggman has a similar layout? SHELTER and Eggman are both on my bucket list for when I get to Tokyo next.

      @@Davey-Boyd Nice!...I would love to have done the same as you Davey...But I lack the skill to organise such...I was glad and amazed just to get to Japan!...hehe...Meeting Kanami's family...so jealous!...real treat for sure. Well.. the 2 concerts would have been setup before hand..so just he ladies and fans cross the road..hehe..That would be something!...hehe...certainly would be memorable...I did undertake a Bocchi pilgrimage when there in Nov...Visited many loactions....even sitting on the swing Bocchi is sat on when Nijika first finds her in Ep1...A Japanese guy turned up while I was there. Done the same thing....I just said "Bocchi The Rock?" and put my thumb up...He smiled and gave a thumbs up back..hehe!....I also visited a number of locations from some of my other fav animes...."Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid", "Super Cub" and "Non Non Biyori"...Plus I did re-visit the temple used for the backdrop of the MAID's "Real Exsitence" MV...(my No.2 MAID's track)..And I visited the quarry from the "Influencer" MV....I packing in more trips during my 2 weeks than I thought I would..or could....But still many more I couldn't get to...Like to visit the school used for the "K-On" anime...and those used in the anime "Yuru Camp"...Like you I hope to return to Japan...It really was something special..I felt such a connection to the country..Hard to describe. ..Like I felt I belonged there...as in returning home after a long absence...Alas..chances of me returning to Japan are very small to non-existent now....Unless I get very lucky...which I am not...All I can think about is to return...Ho Hum!. *sigh*.

    With BANDMAID, ALWAYS (whenever possible) use their official channel - www.youtube.com/@BANDMAID/featured - they are very supportive of reactors* and won't bring a strike against you and, if someone tries to do so, they'll have it removed.
    At the least they deserve you to use their videos because that way they will get some (very) small reward for their work.
    *They often look at reactions and have often been known to call out to reactors they recognise in the audience, or ask if there are any, and they'll get a wave or 'thumbs up' from the maids.

    60 years of going to live shows- all genres, nothing comes near to this. Shear Genius- thrash/funk/metal? Just maybe one of the really top jazz/rock fusion bands could come near to this. I seen a few- maybe one might, but they are not known for great singers, if at all.

    🤘🏽 Band Maid! 🔥
    I hate to admit that this song doesn’t appeal to me, but it’s the bittersweet nature of being a fan of these musicians. They are so fearless and expansive with their songwriting that they sometimes create songs that are outside my wheelhouse. The result of their massively varied catalog is that they have a wildly diverse fanbase. Ask Maidiacs for their top ten? You’re likely going to get many lists that share no songs.
    I’m an old blues rock musician, so here are some Maid songs that you haven’t heard yet, and always get the volume knob to 10 for me.
    1) Choose Me
    2) The non-fiction days
    3) secret My lips
    4) Onset (instrumental)
    5) Don’t you tell ME
    Hopefully, some of these are are your to-do list ✏️ (Coffee’s on me today)

      Music being subjective (like most things in life) creates such fan bases...I have an eclectic taste in music..always have..but it doesn't mean I love everything....I am fussy within that eclectic range...I like alot of genres..but only certain artists...BAND-MAID for me fits every aspect of music I love..so I love everything they've done..Even if they didn't write..they make it theirs..Like "Real Exsitence"..my No.2 MAID's track...Been lucky enough to visit the temple used for the backdrop of MV.
