SupNYPark Yeah, I mean lucky for me I live closer to Florida than California, so it's a lot easier. But I never got to experience the TOT in DL, with make me kind of sad because I know it was different.
"You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance. Of things and ideas.." "I KNOW." "..You just crossed into the Twilight Zone." "Mute this guy."
@@FlipperWolf They aren’t animatronics, they’re projecting using projectors, and the infamous “Pepper’s Ghost” famously used for the ball room scene in the haunted mansion.

Is it just me, or is it hilarious when the pre shows are playing next to each other, all I can see is Rocket talking over Rod Serling in the Twilight Zone video?
The only reason ToT is better imo, is the story telling aspect. It tells an awesome 'chilling' story and makes you feel like you are really apart of it. That is why made it my favorite ride. I thought the story telling was just just flawless and it treated the riders as not only an audience but as a victim to the story. Gotg looks fun and seems like it would he awesome to ride, but there is no scary part to the drops anymore. What made ToT's drops scary, was the story that was along with it. Gotg seems so sloppy in comparison to what was once there. The story of 'helping the guardians get out' is something we have seen theme parks doing for years. Its cool, but its not all that creative. The audience at that point is useless, Rocket can bust out the Guardians without you. ToT was going to make you their victim and drop you to your death. Just not anywhere near the creativity in Gotg in comparison.
The story telling was far better in Tot. MB was fun to look at and the music was fun, but there wasn't the suspense and story depth that Tot. MB is definitely inferior to Tot.
TheKaimanguy Only in WDW. The ToT story is: Twilight Zone, Old Hollywood, Famous Ppl checking in, Enter Elevator, lightning hits hotel. Mission Breakout: Guardians captured by the "Collector", Rocket needs help entering Collector's museum to facilitate Guardians escape, Enter Gantry w/Rocket on top of lift, Rocket and Rest of Guardians fighting various beings to escape in various scenes. They thank us for the help and Baby Groot dances. Good soundtrack. Mission Breakout wins by a mile. Better interactive storyline and ride used to its potential. Imho
OfficialJoeKingOne no, you just summed up not even half of the Hollywood Tower's storyline. - It's 1939 on an evening much like the one we just witnessed (stormy, rainy), famous peole check into the Hollywood Tower Hotel, and five of them enter an elevator. At the 13th floor lightning strikes the tower and the elevator plunges into a freefall, this kills then all and they basically turn into ghosts and haunt the tower. Now it's present day, the Hollywood Tower is vacant and awaiting new guests, you 'check into' the Hollywood Towe Hotel and head to your room on the 13th floor using a maintenence elevator. Then some spoopy things happen and you enter the twilight zone, and your elevator goes out of control, rapidly rising and dropping without warning, before finally plunging down the 13 stories and crashing at the end. Then you leave the twilight zone and exit the ride. - Mission Breakout: The collector has captured the Guardians of the Galaxy! Rocket has escaped (some how?), and he needs your help breaking his friends out! You enter the gantry lift, rocket then hacks it, and once your hands are "scanned" the lift will bring you to the core that rocket then blows up. The lift loses control and goes raises and drops randomly, then the Guardians of the Galaxy fight creatures and eventually breakout. It ends with the GotG breaking out and the collector's collections all gone. - The Hollywood Tower of Terror wins! :)
KG V It depends on what you want out of your story. In Tower of Terror you take a much more passive story role, as you're along for the ride and not very important to the story. I'm Guardians you are necessary to Rocket's plan, and are a big reason as to why the Guardians are able to escape. And don't act like Rocket's escape not being seen in detail, as TOT has a lot of plotholes, such as: why are we here? Are we exploring? Than why do they say we're checking in? Plus, here's something that you're ignoring. Does the story fit theming? In Guardians, the answer is yes. The tone and story feel like something that would actually happen to the Guardians. In Tower of Terror, it doesn't feel like Twilight Zone. Sure, it's spooky, but that was always a backdrop to the themes explored in the episodes. In Tower of Terror, it's the main focus. It completely missed the point of the show.
This might be selfish, but Idc that they changed the ride, the tower of terror here in Orlando is the best one, and does more than the Hollywood one. The updated Guadians looks neat and interesting, so if your really like the tower of terror come to Disney World, so much more to offer than Disneyland!
Cobia SwagDaddy I absolutely agree! The one in Florida is far superior, because you go through the dimension itself rather than just going back, and watching what's going on like the one in California.
Okay I don't get it. How come everyone ragged on DCA's tower because it was terrible compared to the original, when now that it's replaced people are pissing and moaning that it's gone. Disney listened yet all of you are mad that they did.
Disney world is better. I also think it was a smart decision on Disney to rebrand the California adventure tower of terror. it gets East coast people to come to California and West coast people to come to Florida.
Thanks so much for doing this! I've been wanting to see how similar they are. Its interesting to see how different and similar they are. To me Tower will always be better. I would love this ride had it not replaced a masterpiece of a ride. But its nice to see that it makes people happy and still brings in the crowds, and carries on the Disney magic. When it comes down to it, that is what's important.
Jackson Graham As someone who's actually been on the ride, they aren't the same at all. GOTG is constantly moving, always energetic and with something happening at every turn. Meanwhile, TOT builds up suspense, and actually spends a lot of it's ride time explaining what's going on than dropping you.
Bryce Bitetti I guess your right. They are really different types of stories, and thus have different ride styles. Excellent point. It was also good to see that there was some significant remodeling done so parts so it wasn't just TOT with different paint. I guess I'm just still bummed about Tower being gone, but at least this new ride looks neat and exciting.
I can see where you're coming from, and I understand that point of view, and I would agree with you 100% if the ride didn't replace a masterpiece of an attraction. Although it is nice to have a more "kid friendly" ride in the park, the scariness was part of the experience of the "Tower of Terror". I like the new ride a lot, just not as much as I loved tower. The Guardians of the Galaxy only has one or two more drops at most, and while its nice to have a random ride system, the Tower of Terror had such a better and more solid plot and storyline. This is just my opinion however, and you can not agree with it. I won't force others to see it my way. I'm glad the new ride isn't terrible, and that it still brings in the crowds, and that people like it. I just won't like it as much as tower.
From a perspective of a teen that is an annual pass holder I was so mad when I heard TOT was being removed. However, I just rode the GOTG ride and must say the experience is so much better. Being there is so different than seeing on the screen! I was a complainer until I rode this awesome ride. So much thrill. A great tip is to get a fast pass when the park opens that way you only wait about 15-25 minutes and enjoy the interior design that the ride offers.
Hugo Cabret I like the guardians of the galaxy better. it was more fun. it felt to me like more, but smaller drops, while tot was the huge drop. they each have their merit, but don't be blinded by nostalgia
I never been on the twilight zone But I bet guardians of the galaxy is good I am a big fan But by looking at the twilight zone I love the effects of how to make it creepy
I was excited for mission breakout and from the videos I thought it looked really cool, but now that I'm watching them side by side I really miss ToT :')
It's clear that Mission Breakout is an awesome ride. Fun thrills, an awesome soundtrack, and just overall a spectacular experience. THE ONLY THING HOLDING IT BACK FROM BEING FANTASTIC IS WHAT IT REPLACED Why did it have to replace Tower in the first place? They should have made it its own ride instead of building off of what was already there. This just makes it look like- no, it IS a glorified overlay. If it had been its own ride, it could have been way better. I'm all for Marvel representation in the parks, but not when it's done as lazily as this.
Ur Dank Ass Boi Figment Anyways, I think there would have been MORE outrage if they made the WDW one Mission Breakout, since it is the original ToT and many people consider it better than the DCA one. I feel it should have been in Disneyland Paris's Tower of Terror instead, considering that one is an EXACT replica of the DCA one.
It wasn't done lazy it was done fast mission breakout in my opinion is the better attraction. the DCA tot was a copy of a much better one in WDW yeah I'm sad that I won't get the tower of terror experience in California but if we want our Disney parks in California to be better they have to make changes. they also plan to use that back lot behind mission break out as a marvel land according to all the leakers online and if that's true tot was soon to be gone because it wouldn't had fit in with all the marvel stuff. Yeah they could have made mission breakout attraction somewhere else but In the California parks there is no space and you have to sacrifice to make new things sometimes. Mission breakout is the superior attraction in many levels because the story telling is much better in mission breakout too. They used Walt's dream of animatronics for entertainment in the attraction instead of screens which tot didn't offer any. Yes mission break out could had been better but because we want to have big cool attractions for the summer they have to finish quick to satisfy the costumers. Also with the intro of mission breakout they have brought meet and greets with a live size groot that can talk and that's more pluses for mission breakout. I'm happy to say that for once in a long time Disneyland has something new and different from the other parks and when I want to get on tower of terror I can just visit wdw.
As much as I enjoyed tower of terror when I rode it, I'm happy about the change because Mission Breakout has rock music. It looks fun too so I'm excited to ride it whenever I do go back to California Adventure
Preston Ewing The more aggressive drops the ToT had are much more thrilling to me. It sends you out of your seat since it's drops are beyond freefall. GotG is a good ride, but most of it's drops are small. ToT's drops were much larger
A lot of you people don't even give Guardians a chance, I thought I would hate it but I actually tried to have fun on it, instead of mourning the "loss" of ToT. And, it's completely the same! They're both the same ride, just with different theming. Guardians just has better tech than ToT.
Look, heres the thing. I'm sure that MB is fun, very fun in fact, but the cool thing about ToT was the story. It was cool and atmospheric. GotG just looks cheesy and kinda cliche with the whole "Thanks everybody, see ya!"
I feel like at least to me that GOTG was a softer ride, like less big drops but i might feel that way because it was a humorous ride vs a scary sorta ride like tower. I love both and the aesthetic of the themes are amazing.
While I'm excited for the MB ride (even though i hate drop rides), I gotta say the atmosphere for ToT was way better. While I hated riding on the ride itself, I loved how the employees were in character. The last time I rode, one lady kept her eyes wide open, she stared at people intensely for more than 10 seconds, and she quietly creeped up behind people and screamed so they'd jump and she'd laugh cruelly. (I remember she saw a little girl's Bambi shirt and said "Oh, Bambi and his mom. *She's dead*"). Not my favorite ride, but definitely memorable.
5:25 when tower of terror opened the door. something seems offI see that it looks like its california adventure park. I also see that matterhorn bobsleds, which is not on disney world and I also see the big building that shows the sky. also there is thebuilding in the very left side, that is fancy, its from california adventure park! but you cant see the castle though. I know everying how disneyland looks like, so thats propably a mistake or something.
I was skeptical, but I really loved Breakout. ToT used to scare me and I'd always leave the ride stressed. MB was fun and I was laughing throughout. It's hard to say goodbye but change can be good!
It's still basically a Drop ride type, cept for the change in theme. Disney's evolving, we have to face it... although, we will miss Hollywood Tower Hotel very much
both look like so much fun, I just want them to coexist. I don't prefer one or the other, they both have pros and cons and it really depends on the person which one is better. can't both towers just get along? :/
Don't whine about the ride changing. Everything has to change at one time and everybody should move on from the past and move forward to the future. You can't always get what you want! Not everybody is going to live back in the 60s
JustariusTheLordofhollows okay first of all, how is it cringeworthy? And second of all, there is a thing called opinions and you don't seem to know what they are.
The Hollywood Tower Of Terror looked better from where it was... Now the Gotg just ruins the theme of Buena Vista st. That is one of the main reasons ToT was placed in that EXACT location... Plus they probably could of done another gaurdians of the galaxy ride on an older less used attraction instead of ruining the Buena Vista St. Vibe.
The drops for mission breakout no way are the same as tower. Some of the drops in the video were not even counted. Like the first rise and drop before the first hall way scene. Count how many times your butt lifts off the chair and that would be one drop. Both rides are the same length in minutes the calculation are wrong
Magic milkman There is no rise and drop before the first hallway scene, it's only a fat rise, I know this because I rode it and he memory is still fresh in my mind
Now that I rode this ride, by itself it's a drastically different experience than the tower of terror. This was more a lighthearted and fun ride while twilight zone was more scary and serious. Both of them are great rides either way I just wish it was its own built ride as I'm still disappointed that the twilight zone is gone. Still a fun ride tho
click here: th-cam.com/video/2ecwtMpIGI4/w-d-xo.html to see my quick thoguths and review on the Tower of Terror vs Mission Breakout! :D (edit - wrong link before, this is the right video :))
Looks like they didn't customize much of the exit for Mission Breakout. Allegedly the videos & songs change randomly on the GotG ride, which is something I don't think Tower of Terror did. BTW, what does the scanning supposed to do?
+Jonah Henrickson Optimus: "Your bravery saved the planet." Me: "I didn't do anything though 😹" (Honestly it feels like we're more of a nuisance to the auto-bots than anything)
If your best argument against an opposing position is that you think those who hold it are too young to make good points, you are both proving that all their points are good enough you can't refute them (or else you would do that instead of calling out age) and also disproving yourself by doing so (because you make good points, I assume you are too young to make good points)
the drops are random and different every time after they updated it in the early 2000s, it can be from like 5-8 I believe. also gotgmb doesn't have a set story. all the scenes you witness in the ride are randomized.
Uk, for the amount of whining I see in these videos about how “great” ToT was, when you look at comparisons, the ToT side is almost ALWAYS a walk-on instead of there being a line. The demand doesn’t look like it fits the amount of people complaining about the Guardians replacement.
I feel like Tower Of Terror is always the best since it gave a scary vibe every time I rode it. It gives me the chills which makes the ride more thrilling! I'll definitely miss it...
Closing the tower of terror at California adventure for guardians of the galaxy was probably the worst mistake the disney parks have ever made in terms of replacing rides since they closed mr toads wild ride at Florida's magic kingdom back in 98. I'm from Florida and not California but Disneyland without tower of terror is like any disney park without pirates of the Caribbean.
Samuel Black I went on that ride about a week ago (MB) and it was a huge line that moved surprisingly fast and the ride was the most amazing ride I had ever been on in my entire life!!!
From my assessment on the comparison, I can say that both rides are similar, and GOTGMB has 1 more drop than ToT, but as far as the story goes ToT is by far better and there's more of a thrill and a sense of suspense to it. GOTGMB story isn't the greatest and with the music playing while the scenes are being show, takes away the fear and the suspense. Now, I had a little trouble watching because at some points the right side with GOTGMB over powered the sounds on ToT. I've never been on either ride and most likely never will, since I'm on East Coast, which I could still ride ToT there, but I doubt it since I don't take drop tower rides too well.
to those of you complaining about tower of terror being taken down, stop. give guardians of the galaxy a chance. trust me, i understand where you’re coming from, i literally sent an email to disneyland complaining about them taking ToT when i first heard about it, but i have to say after riding GotG that it was way more fun. just be open minded and give it a chance like i did, or else you’re never gonna be able to fully enjoy it
Something about the suspense of TOT and the fact that all drops happened all at once made it much more fun compared to Guardians. In Guardians after the 2nd drop you get kind of bored.
it also felt like MB didn’t feel as real. the screen was much more obvious in MB, ruining the atmosphere. I literally felt like I was just going up and down in front of a television.
I imagine what people miss about ToT (myself included), is the aesthetic. The olden times theme and music, the "terror" aspect. And it hurts to think that ToT is never coming back to DL. But I can say GotG looks like something you could grow to love the same as ToT, just not in the same way. Personally can't wait to give this a try, don't get me wrong, I'm skeptical and a little bitter (and l might just hitch a plane to Orlando someday), but this looks as lovable as the tower of terror, just not in the same aesthetic, yeah?
i think disney world will be stupid to get rid of tower of terror disney land did already but tower of terror is like the main thing in hollywood studios and it's super fun and gains a lot of attention
Lovely Lainey same here since for me, the Disney World one is far superior, but thankfully, Disney has stated that there are no plans of changing it like the one in Disney Land.
Lovely Lainey It would really be stupid because they supposedly have a deal with Universal about the Marvel branding. I don't know a lot about it to explain.
My dad and I watch twilight zone every night together it's a really funny/odd show but since that show is a good classic I'm actually very sad that they replaced the ToT with GotG.
Gotg tries too hard to connect you with the characters during the ride and it feels rushed. Also you pretty much have to watch the movies and understand them to understand this ride.
they could've just made them 2 separate rides honestly. I went and rode this all week, so 6 times, and honestly got pretty bored in the end. Also the room we go in before, i got bored as HELL half way through the first time. Just really miss the tower of terror theme😩
I never noticed this before, but it turns out that Mission Breakout and Tokyo DisneySea's Tower Tower of Terror have the same basic story: Guests end up visiting the home of an eccentric collector of strange and unusual items (Hightower/The Collector) who ends up getting more than they bargained for with at least one part of their collection (Shiriki Utundu/Rocket). But where Shiriki Utundu is just messing with guests for its amusement, Rocket needs the guests to help him break the other Guardians out by allowing him to ride the elevator. Either way, the results are the same: Guests get a wild elevator ride and the Tower is in shambles by the end of the experience.
As cool and nostalgic as Tower of Terror was, I will say that on my first trip to Disneyland since Guardians of the Galaxy opened, my mom and I rode it like ten times in a row (lines were super short due to weather) just because it was SO much fun and so thrilling and we wanted to get all the different songs. I’ll miss Tower of Terror because it was such a classic and had very cool aesthetics, but I can’t see myself riding it over and over like that, so I personally think Guardians wins in terms of entertainment.
my dad suprised me that we're going to dca in a couple of days and knowing that this is a new ride, and that i am terrified of rides, i have a few questions: 1) do you get the 'my instines are flying everywhere' feeling when you drop? going up? 2) what do you think the intensity level is: 1-10 1 being a baby ride 10 being a terrfying ride 3) is closing my eyes a good idea
1) No, just a butterflies in your stomach feeling. 2) I'd say about a 7, seeing as how it's just a drop ride & not a coaster. 3) Absolutely NOT. If you keep your eyes closed, you're robbing yourself of half the experience. Keep 'em open...take it all in, then thank your dad for taking you! Have fun! :)
I still prefer the tower one. Because yes the mission one might be fun and have music but it just doesn't make sense why that would be Guardians of the galaxy. It was meant to be a scary and suspenseful ride but when the put Guardians of the Galaxy it just ruined it! I am a fan of the movies but I just don't like that theme for that ride.Twilight zone was much better and actually fit with the ride and it had a great story! And I'm not the only person! A lot of people signed a petition to keep it the way it was but Disney didn't care! They knew Guardians of the Galaxy(first movie) was a hit and everyone loved it and with the second movie that was gonna come out all they thought about was money! All they want is money! They don't care if you wanted to keep it the same! So Disney changed it and they made more money off it
I think it was a good idea to change to Guardians of the Galaxy, because the Tower of Terror is also copied in Paris. One of the Towers had to change and from what I have heard GOTG is more popular in America than in Europe. This made the Tower of Terror more unique because there's only the one in paris. I know there are still other TOTs but no copies.
It's just a rumor about EEA, which has pretty much subsided as the Guardians theme does not fit Epcot. One rumor now has it (Guardians) as an overlay of Rock n roller coaster at DHS. Again, that is just a rumor. They are looking at doing something in the area of EEA, as they filed permits to fill in a canal behind the pavilion. Hopefully, we will learn more at D23. I don't have confidence in rumors, I like to get information from someone credible, and even that can change at the last minute.
I agree. I still like Guardians, but for Tower of Terror, the ride kinda starts as soon as you walk into the lobby. The tone and story buildup in the line and on the ride add more weight to the actual drops.
I love the people that are like this one did this drop that one did that drop a different when the mechanism for each ride has over 100 customary drop sequences so you never really know what is gonna happen.
So tot will always have 6 drops
while guardians of the Galaxy will range from:
6 (born to be wild) to
10 (I want you back)
:)
I counted 9 while viewing the video with the viral reporter screaming his head off. Their butts lifted off the bench 9 times, however slight
GoG has 6 different profiles, so the number of drops could vary between the 6. Also, the amount of drops doesn't matter as much as the amount of time spent dropping, which is about double than ToT
LMG Vids didn't you type it always comes back to Jean Lafitte
haha no :3
That's offhand disneyland
It may not be the Hollywood Tower Hotel or the Twilight Zone (well, maybe it still is in a subtle way), but it will always remain a Tower of Terror.
Mario Hiccup Witwicky i agree
Mario Hiccup Witwicky exactly. i still call it tower of terror just because of that
It's still a drop ride. Just with a more creative theme to it.
Well gotg in hollywood with all the 1920s theming makes it seem loke its from the twilight zone but dropped in the wrong area
I just want to acknowledge the guy who goes 'I lived a good life'
my life is fine rn, thanks for the acknowledgement :P
I feel like Tower of Terror builds up more suspense while Mission: Breakout is more energetic. I still prefer Tower of Terror though
Taco Cat same
me too

Well Guardians isn’t supposed to feel like a haunted hotel
Good comment.
His point is that tot was better thematically for the ride atmosphere it was going for. Mb doesn't quite suck you in like tot

So glad they kept the Twilight Zone theme in WDW. Adds to the horror and mystery of the ride. Tokyo's version looks pretty cool though

DisneyPotterWhovian I'd hardly call 12 years a classic.
Bryce Bitetti I dont know, i just find that people reacted to the tower of terror closing as if it was a classic.
Couldn't keep my eyes off the Tower side. Knowing it will never come back to DL is what kills the most.
SupNYPark Yeah, I mean lucky for me I live closer to Florida than California, so it's a lot easier. But I never got to experience the TOT in DL, with make me kind of sad because I know it was different.
:(
But you have to admit the theme was pretty much irrelevant now the movie was never that popular
violet pie the tv show was realy popular
Well hyperspace mountain was meant be permanent but looked what happened
Everyone here is arguing about this are we not gonna talk about the guy who said "I lived a good life" before the drop on the TOT
True
"You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance. Of things and ideas.."
"I KNOW."
"..You just crossed into the Twilight Zone."
"Mute this guy."
This is so cool because I'm wearing headphones
I hear some say when they were about to drop, " I lived a good life"

TheKaimanguy I'm sorry, but did ToT have a story...? It was about ghosts who made your elevator start going up and down a shaft...?
This might be selfish, but Idc that they changed the ride, the tower of terror here in Orlando is the best one, and does more than the Hollywood one. The updated Guadians looks neat and interesting, so if your really like the tower of terror come to Disney World, so much more to offer than Disneyland!
Cobia SwagDaddy I absolutely agree! The one in Florida is far superior, because you go through the dimension itself rather than just going back, and watching what's going on like the one in California.
Cobia SwagDaddy I agree lol. Disneys always changing stuff for the better. At the end of the day, it's still the exact same ride, just different
Lauren Victoria nope
Who else just watched ToT most of the time?!
Nope :/
Yahir Es Don't have to be so rude.
Not me!
Shaken' Bacon
Then don't reply!!
Bluestripe The Warrior me
Both were fun in their own ways! I'm still going to miss the ToT.
Okay I don't get it. How come everyone ragged on DCA's tower because it was terrible compared to the original, when now that it's replaced people are pissing and moaning that it's gone. Disney listened yet all of you are mad that they did.
Chake ikr. Some ppl never appreciate something until it's gone
I personally think they made it worse. True it was never as good as FL but that doesn't mean that it was awful, now it sort of is.
Chake some people actually loved it but I love guardians way more, it feels so much more enjoyable and energetic the music is amazing
Disney world is better. I also think it was a smart decision on Disney to rebrand the California adventure tower of terror. it gets East coast people to come to California and West coast people to come to Florida.
Guys put on headphones or earphones and take one side off and you will hear only that ride (left tot and right gotg)
Saying that Guardians is randomized means that TOT could've been randomized so... not much of an argument
Scott Coleman tot wasn't randomized though
tana mongoose I think what he's saying is that they could've changed Tower of Terror to make it randomized instead changing the entire theme.
Scott Coleman The one is Florida is randomized. And it's really exciting.
TOT in DHS has been randomized for some 15 years, I surprised DCA's wasn't.
kettd007 the dca was going to be randomized but for some reason they didnt do it
Thanks so much for doing this!
Tower of Terror has everyone's heart, it will forever be the best!
Not mine! Guardians is better! (And no, I'm not being paid by disney to say that. I get enough of that BS on other videos.)
Hugo Cabret I like the guardians of the galaxy better. it was more fun. it felt to me like more, but smaller drops, while tot was the huge drop. they each have their merit, but don't be blinded by nostalgia
Hugo Cabret NOPE, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY IS WAYYYY BETTER THAN TWILIGHT SHIT
Not mine.... just my opinion
I never been on the twilight zone
But I bet guardians of the galaxy is good I am a big fan
But by looking at the twilight zone I love the effects of how to make it creepy
Mission breakout was awesome
Tot is better
@@DarkLord-we2uw The California version was the worst one out of all the other ones anyway.
@@Cadventurer yeah ik
Lol. The guy in tower, "I've lived a good life."
I was excited for mission breakout and from the videos I thought it looked really cool, but now that I'm watching them side by side I really miss ToT :')
The audience applauding at the end of Tower of Terror says everything! So glad they're keeping it at WDW.
Ems Vids honestly..
Ems Vids but it was boring in cali it was always the same drops
Pretty sure the laughter/applause is coming from the guardians side...
Not at all! Guardians is what this ride should've always been. And it seems like it's much longer due to the increase in activity. People love it.
ToT made Hollywood part Hollywood like, now there isnt that much of "Hollywood" in it
It's clear that Mission Breakout is an awesome ride. Fun thrills, an awesome soundtrack, and just overall a spectacular experience.
THE ONLY THING HOLDING IT BACK FROM BEING FANTASTIC IS WHAT IT REPLACED
Why did it have to replace Tower in the first place? They should have made it its own ride instead of building off of what was already there. This just makes it look like- no, it IS a glorified overlay. If it had been its own ride, it could have been way better. I'm all for Marvel representation in the parks, but not when it's done as lazily as this.
Gabe Valdez Kind of how I feel about the Frozen ride at Epcot
Gabe Valdez Couldn't agree more!!!
Ur Dank Ass Boi Figment Oh, hey, it's you. Didn't expect to see you here.
Mission Breakout had many more "shoot ups" which shot the gantry lift up the shaft, which makes Mission BREAKOUT a much bigger thrill.
What goes up must come down hence more drops
Magic milkman j
yeah.. delivering wholesome magic with 2 percent homogenized madness
Preston Ewing The more aggressive drops the ToT had are much more thrilling to me. It sends you out of your seat since it's drops are beyond freefall. GotG is a good ride, but most of it's drops are small. ToT's drops were much larger
Preston Ewing no it doesn't !!!!!!!
A lot of you people don't even give Guardians a chance, I thought I would hate it but I actually tried to have fun on it, instead of mourning the "loss" of ToT. And, it's completely the same! They're both the same ride, just with different theming. Guardians just has better tech than ToT.
Honestly, most Disney fanboys would rather be joyless a-holes than actually give something a chance
It'll still remain as tower of terror for me
While I'm excited for the MB ride (even though i hate drop rides), I gotta say the atmosphere for ToT was way better.
Good job with the surround sound, very clever idea!
ive been on mission breakout but the tot will always be in my heart
Still prefer Tower.
TDK Attractions same the new one is cringe worthy
TDK Attractions the new one is MUCH better
Don't whine about the ride changing. Everything has to change at one time and everybody should move on from the past and move forward to the future. You can't always get what you want! Not everybody is going to live back in the 60s
TDK Attractions me too
JustariusTheLordofhollows okay first of all, how is it cringeworthy?
And second of all, there is a thing called opinions and you don't seem to know what they are.
The Hollywood Tower Of Terror looked better from where it was... Now the Gotg just ruins the theme of Buena Vista st. That is one of the main reasons ToT was placed in that EXACT location... Plus they probably could of done another gaurdians of the galaxy ride on an older less used attraction instead of ruining the Buena Vista St. Vibe.
Tower of terror had longer drops.
The drops for mission breakout no way are the same as tower. Some of the drops in the video were not even counted. Like the first rise and drop before the first hall way scene. Count how many times your butt lifts off the chair and that would be one drop. Both rides are the same length in minutes the calculation are wrong
Magic milkman you're right, when I rode it, the airtime made the ride feel much more intense!
Magic milkman There is no rise and drop before the first hallway scene, it's only a fat rise, I know this because I rode it and he memory is still fresh in my mind
Magic milkman each different song of Mission Breakout has a different number of drops some have 6 the most I think is 10
ToT makes the ride feel more intense meanwhile the GotG doesn't feel as scary
Thank you....this is exactly the kinda comparison video I was looking for 👍😁
Cool video. Thanks for creating it.
Big different, screams of terror, and screams of pure enjoyment and fun.
I really like how you put the audio, i hear in one side of my headphones the tower and on the other side the mission break out, you won a like!

to see my quick thoguths and review on the Tower of Terror vs Mission Breakout! :D
(edit - wrong link before, this is the right video :))
Hahahaha "thoguths" I know it's just a typo but that's making me cry of laughter! Hahahaha
i loved the theme of tower of terror, but i’ve gotta say that the actual ride of guardians of the galaxy was way more fun
As much as I love both, Tower Of Terror, in my opinion, was more for the view, and Guardians Of The Galaxy Mission Breakout, was more for the drops
to those saying mb was randomized, so was tot. I had a relative that worked at the park for like 30 years that explained it to us
"You are the passengers on a most uncommon elevator. "
The new ride is fine, but I miss the creepy aspect of the original tower. The new ride feels fake
Looks like they didn't customize much of the exit for Mission Breakout. Allegedly the videos & songs change randomly on the GotG ride, which is something I don't think Tower of Terror did. BTW, what does the scanning supposed to do?
it interactive for the guests even though it is superficial
Guernicaman I've been on it twice and the clips and featured song are random
+Jonah Henrickson
Optimus: "Your bravery saved the planet."
Me: "I didn't do anything though 😹"
(Honestly it feels like we're more of a nuisance to the auto-bots than anything)
@@alucard2010 being told "you are the star" and no other form of audience interaction is superficial too
@@elijahrock3914 more interaction with mission breakout. Raising hands, screaming is part of the ride
Those who prefer the new version, I'm curious what your ages are?
If your best argument against an opposing position is that you think those who hold it are too young to make good points, you are both proving that all their points are good enough you can't refute them (or else you would do that instead of calling out age) and also disproving yourself by doing so (because you make good points, I assume you are too young to make good points)
the drops are random and different every time after they updated it in the early 2000s, it can be from like 5-8 I believe. also gotgmb doesn't have a set story. all the scenes you witness in the ride are randomized.
You are thinking of the Orlando tower of terror, dca was always preset
when tot had the twilight back story back in 06 disney was going to randomize the ride but never did
Uk, for the amount of whining I see in these videos about how “great” ToT was, when you look at comparisons, the ToT side is almost ALWAYS a walk-on instead of there being a line. The demand doesn’t look like it fits the amount of people complaining about the Guardians replacement.
I prefer Tower of Terror more, because I love hauted hotels
What about the guardians of the galaxy monsters after dark that is a creepy haunted collectors fortress right there
I feel like Tower Of Terror is always the best since it gave a scary vibe every time I rode it.
Maybe not THE worst mistake they've made, but it's up there.
Samuel Black I went on that ride about a week ago (MB) and it was a huge line that moved surprisingly fast and the ride was the most amazing ride I had ever been on in my entire life!!!
Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's a mistake.
Nice video!
to those of you complaining about tower of terror being taken down, stop. give guardians of the galaxy a chance. trust me, i understand where you’re coming from, i literally sent an email to disneyland complaining about them taking ToT when i first heard about it, but i have to say after riding GotG that it was way more fun. just be open minded and give it a chance like i did, or else you’re never gonna be able to fully enjoy it
Something about the suspense of TOT and the fact that all drops happened all at once made it much more fun compared to Guardians. In Guardians after the 2nd drop you get kind of bored.
The thing that Mission Breakout is better is because it mostly has drops, and The Tower of Terror has drops only once in a while.
Tower of terror will always be a classic ride in DCA
"Mom, Dad, Can We Cancel Our Trip To Disney Land And Go To Disney World?"
Tower of Terror gives me nightmares such as the hallway and a little bit of the wave goodbye to the real world mirror
I definitely like tower of terror more tbh
I love the creepy eeriness in TOT
it also felt like MB didn’t feel as real. the screen was much more obvious in MB, ruining the atmosphere. I literally felt like I was just going up and down in front of a television.
im really mad they didn't keep the twilight zone theme.
I personitly think Disneyland was better having the tower of terror. Because it was an original ride. R.I P
Lovely Lainey true and plus the tot is the icon of Hollywood Studios
I will be broken hearted every time they play twilight marathons on tv
on the ride it's hard to breathe when you go down
Can someone tell me which on is I want you back?
My dad and I watch twilight zone every night together it's a really funny/odd show but since that show is a good classic I'm actually very sad that they replaced the ToT with GotG.
Gotg tries too hard to connect you with the characters during the ride and it feels rushed. Also you pretty much have to watch the movies and understand them to understand this ride.
Total Shots I didn’t watch all the movies and I thought this was the best ride I had ever been on (MB)!!!
The ironic thing is I watched the guardians of the galaxy because of this ride
they could've just made them 2 separate rides honestly. I went and rode this all week, so 6 times, and honestly got pretty bored in the end. Also the room we go in before, i got bored as HELL half way through the first time. Just really miss the tower of terror theme😩
I never noticed this before, but it turns out that Mission Breakout and Tokyo DisneySea's Tower Tower of Terror have the same basic story:
Guests end up visiting the home of an eccentric collector of strange and unusual items (Hightower/The Collector) who ends up getting more than they bargained for with at least one part of their collection (Shiriki Utundu/Rocket).
I’ll miss Tower of Terror because it was such a classic and had very cool aesthetics, but I can’t see myself riding it over and over like that, so I personally think Guardians wins in terms of entertainment.
my dad suprised me that we're going to dca in a couple of days and knowing that this is a new ride, and that i am terrified of rides, i have a few questions:
1) do you get the 'my instines are flying everywhere' feeling when you drop? going up?
2) what do you think the intensity level is: 1-10 1 being a baby ride 10 being a terrfying ride
3) is closing my eyes a good idea
1) No, just a butterflies in your stomach feeling.
2) I'd say about a 7, seeing as how it's just a drop ride & not a coaster.
3) Absolutely NOT. If you keep your eyes closed, you're robbing yourself of half the experience. Keep 'em open...take it all in, then thank your dad for taking you!
Have fun! :)
the person that said "i've lived a good life" before the drop on tot is me hahahahha
I've been on both and I prefer Gotg over Tot. You actually feel like you have a purpose on gotg and not just taking an elevator ride
Ruben Dobson That's a perfect way of explaining it! "it has a porpose" I agree with you!
I feel ToT is the only "scary" ride and now it's gone. P.S Tot has a purpose
ThatShadowLlama Gamez what about haunted mansion?
hunter123466 personally that ride is not scary at all, but it is fun
Ruben Dobson it's not just an elevator ride :(
I still prefer the tower one.
Tower of Terror is the superior ride
Care to explain why?
And anyways tot will never come back.
Jonah Henrickson for how long though 😪
The tower of terror looks like a true art piece of beautiful carefully designed Disney work. The breakout ride just looks like a sloppy mess.
I love the people that are like this one did this drop that one did that drop a different when the mechanism for each ride has over 100 customary drop sequences so you never really know what is gonna happen.
