My fiance and I went this last week and honestly, I think something about this ride makes every group like this! It's so much fun! My group all 3 times were so enthusiastic and having a great time. The song "dancing in the moonlight" was playing the first time we went on and today it played in the car and just made me smile. The ride is really well done!
I went on this ride with my brother and the rest of the riders were females. Needless to say the group of girls were screaming their heads off. Made for a a great ride.
I would love to see Alien Encounter return (now that we know Stitch will eventually close), but that's unfortunately a VERY unlikely circumstance. Disney has already gotten too many complaints about that ride in its lifetime and the parks are all about movie-themed rides now.
This is one of the best rides in Disneyland. When I went on it, there's SO much energy and adrenaline as you're falling. It's terrifying and then you get a small break and back to terror. It's a great story in the time the ride is!
There's something so inherently charming about all of this. The Rocket animatronic is fabulous, the theming is quite immersive, and the screens are actually quite well done. Like, probably the best use of projections in any ride to date. Seems like a lot of fun!
Robert Bautista It was my only expectation for the ride. I didn't really care if it matches up to Tower of Terror, I just wanted the charm and style of the Guardians films.
Honestly, this looks super fun. The theme is cool, the Rocket animatronic is REALLY impressive, and the projections are well done. Sure, the ToT will be missed, but this ride seems like a worthy successor. I can't wait to go there in July!
Rocket's really the only enjoyable thing about it, nowhere near enough to make the attraction worth losing Tower. And the Yeti doesn't even move, nor is it in a cage. It's completely out of place.
That I understand, but that still doesn't explain why it just stands perfectly still. It's completely lifeless, which horribly kills the illusion. And if the Collector really did obtain the Yeti, why wouldn't he keep the Yeti in a cell?
i know tower of terror was a classic, but it always gave me major anxiety, and i’m afraid of the dark and the mood of the ride terrified me, so i really enjoy this more lighthearted experience, especially since i love guardians of the galaxy :)
Yep. It's rather good but it does not compare to Tower of Terror. Still I cant say it looks appalling. As we know, Disney sometimes makes ludicrous decisions in every dept. and theme parks are no exception (for example, they want to curtail overcrowding, yet they permit season pass holders to pay monthly rather than in a lump sum. Makes zero sense) It's only going to be at California Adventure. There are no plans to replace Tower of Terror at Paris, Disney World or Tokyo. I also think Disney should have a few scary rides or at least eerily themed. The Nightmare Before Christmas overlay at Haunted Mansion is great (even though it's somewhat comedic, there are plenty of scary moments on that ride). They've always been known as the cheery, sprinkle a ray of sunshine on everything brand, yet their labels in the past generated memorable scary products (think Scream, Scream 2, The Others, etc. as they once owned Dimension)

I think that the change of music and tone alone here makes this a completely different experince, this still seems like a ride for thrill seekers, but i feel the rock music instead of a horror theme makes it a lot more energized, u can enjoy the whole ride instead of just waiting in fear for it to begin. thats just my 2 cents tho, ive never been to land and only rode the tower over at wdw.
riding this was definitely an upgrade from tower of terror, all the drops felt way more intense because they were way more frequent. i also like how even when the screens are showing, the ride is still moving, as if its teasing us.
dorkydeni the moving actually makes it less scary to me than if it just came to a complete stop after each drop, because then it gives you more of a feeling of when it’s coming. I like it:)
The Queue and Pre-show was really neat, but the ride it's self isn't nearly as scary as Tower of Terror! I like the suspense leading up to the drop, this just is more of a party and really not much to the scenes, it's more of a drop tower ride with special effects. Tower of Terror gave you a story and some interesting and slightly longer and suspenseful sensationalism to it, it was just a gem of a theme. Glad the one at Hollywood Studios is still there and will remain there.
sportsygirl8 completely agree with you. I said this in another post that the ride doesn't have much of a story or make you feel part of the story. There's no suspense leading up to the drops like the way ToT did. Yet when I said this I got a lot of flack for having an opinion. Um why? Isn't that what these post are for? So we can have an open discussion without anyone insulting one another? But yea point is, I definitely agree with you.
I'm sorry to hear that you got flack for it! These comments are for open discussion and whether or not you agree with that person or not, it should be more civil. People these days if they don't seem to agree with you, they just get offended and then you hear all the backlash for your comments. TH-cam should have some kind of post with a warning of comment at your own risk...lol. The ones that have given you flack would be the GOTG fans that think that you're putting down their fandom's themed ride, when what you're really doing is making a comparison between the two. I've never been on either ride, but from what I've seen from videos that is how I gathered what I posted and what you've said as well. I'm actually surprised that I haven't gotten any flack yet for my comment.

I haven't been on Mission Breakout yet and I know I eventually will, but I did ride ToT thousands of times and I can already tell this ride to me doesn't fit in this section of the park and is unfair to just basically recycle the vehicles of ToT to make use for this version. It cheapens what Disney is about. Also the fact that they are changing Hollywood land into a Marvel land is absurd. Just 5 years ago they spent billions of dollars to expand and revamp California Adventure cause they heard from the audience that it didn't have Walt's magic in the park. Now that they added the 1920s element to the era that brought Walt to Los Angeles, it's being taken away to make way for this Marvel idea? Now they are once again taking away what Walt was about. Now if they have made an actual land built after Marvel somewhere else in the park, that would be better, or putting this ride at Tomorrowland since it's more futuristic. But to take away the 1920s-40s theme that ToT had to put this is insulting I think to Walt Disney and to the core fans. I believe eventually this will die down and it was way too soon to build a ride to Guardians when they barely made a part 2 of it. Right? Why didn't Disney just make a thrill ride off of Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride segment from the movie? But no. 😑

Yeah, I know what you mean, I feel the same way with Disney movies with them recycling their animated classics and turning them into live-action remakes, just feels cheap. I also can't quite picture this ride being in that section of the park either. I'll admit that I've never been to DCA or Disneyland, but it just seems kind of out of place. Once it becomes Marvelland, it'll probably fit better. That is so sad that they're changing things so much and seeming to get away from what Walt was all about....etc. At least where I am the next best thing that's like Disney is Hershey Park and for the most part they've continued on with Milton Hershey's legacy, except for the fact of abandoning the chocolate factory and setting up business in Mexico, they do still make Reese's and a few other products in Hershey. I agree, Guardians of the Galaxy is pretty popular now and you wonder if it'll remind a popular movie or not and the second movie just came out a few weeks ago.

I know since i was able to get on it yesterday during the pandemic with my sister and she was scared shitless with all the falling and I was just screaming
this ride is amazing! they intensified the drops and added more! plus every time you go in you'll get a different song and different clips (they randomize between 4 i think)! it's super fun when the cast members ask you to help rocket and break them out!
Tower of Terror was my favorite ride and I was so angry about them changing it to this. I walked onto this ride with a lot of glares and sighs. I walked out laughing like I never have before. They did so well with this and though I do miss the old theme greatly, I feel like this theme is equally amazing and the ride aspect is even better. 😁
My favorite features in this ride are probably the queue and the amazing Rocket animatronic. Other than that, everything was only a bit better than expected IMO.
Neko Nightmare the Shinigami you have no idea what you missed out on I don't know what the one from Walt Disney world feels like but this one had a really eerie vibe and it was awesome I feel like this was kinda lame only thing I thought was cool was the yeti and rocket but that's pretty much it
I'm devastated that I never had a chance to go to the ToT here in L.A. because I prefer the dark, haunted, creepy ToT storyline over this light-hearted, party, humorous vibe GoTG ride has.
Just got back from Disneyland with my Mom, and I cannot believe how fun this ride is. I've never been to Disney before (i.e., any Disney park) and I must have rode GOTG a hundred times. So much fun, amazing drops, and the music really pumps you up! Glad you managed to snag video with Parliament playing, it's the best song for the ride. Easily the best ride at Disneyland.
They did pretty good even though they had that deadline. Think about, this is one of the most popular rides at DCA so they have to reTheme it quickly. With more time they'll probably upgrade it some more, making it even better!
We went on this about a week ago, and it was *FRICKEN AWESOME* We got fast passes for everyone is our group, but because a few of the people in our group didn't want to ride, we got their fast passes, and we went on it twice. Yep, my mom literally lied to the employee's face. I seriously recommend this ride, although I am a bit sad that they replaced ToT, even though I got to go on ToT once, when I was eight.
I don't care what anyone says, this is great!!! Yes I miss ToT but I loved this more. And people it's not supposed to be scary it's supposed to be entertaining! 😜

Tower of Terror was a REALLY great ride, but I think kids will like it more now. I rode it once as ToT and once as Guardians. When was ToT almost all the kids that were riding with us were crying the whole time. But when we rode it as Guardians, there was a group of little kids on a field trip on the ride with us and they were laughing and shouting:)
this is no doubt the best ride in disneyland! So much fun! I feel like you dont have time to scream lol so you just laugh the whole time, such an awesome vibe!
It's really amazing! The parts where you're falling is really going to freak you out though! It was well done and completely safe enjoyable creative and entertaining I highly recommend you go on this if you aren't scared of feeling like your completely falling a few times.

This ride was absolutely the best! I went on it not once, but TWICE last week on the same night. I really enjoyed the whole ride, and the drops were so intense yet amazing! Definitely worth the wait in line.
This was one of my favorites rides when i went to Disneyland for thanksgiving last year. It was so fun and unforgettable. When watching this video i can still feel the butterflies :) I rode it 3 times in one day!!
I've never been on Tower of Terror, so the first time I went on this, I had no idea what to expect, so I watched this video before hand. I stood exactly where this guy stood in line, and sat exactly where he sat, and the same exact song played over the speakers. I've never been more pumped full of adrenaline in my entire life. This is the best ride at Disneyland. Don't @ me.
I haven't been on this yet, and already I love it. Still sad to see the Tower gone, but this looks really impressive. Cant wait to ride it. After all its still the same system, just a new theme.
So far what I've noticed about this ride is that the experience will be different for everyone. I'm literally talking different. Every song is different and clip of the characters are different. The drops are even different.
From going to Disney since I was little, all I can see as they walk through is TOT, I remember everything so vividly & this really does makes my heart sad. Excited to see this in person though :)
Guys just stop complaining about it already I was sad when ToT left too. But I gave this one a chance and it turns out, it looks pretty damn fun. And be grateful it was just a permanent layover and not a replacement.
It looks fun... but honestly I think replacing it with a new attraction is better than just retheming the existing one. I mean if it's the same ride what's the point in changing it?
This looks like a lot of fun! I loved how pumped tower of terror made me feel because of the horror build up, but this does looks like a laugh! Will have to go try it out, feel like it would give me a similar vibe to the RockIt Roller Coaster in Universal Studios with the music
This ride is amazing! Two things I Love about it is that 1: You get more ride time: I have rode ToT and If I recall I think this version has more ride time. 2: It's Atmosphere: I think the atmosphere in this ride is amazing! Like in the part where you wait to get on the ride (after Rockets introduction) I legit felt amazed and a bit crept out. I also felt kinda Crept out when waiting in line: mainly because The music was eerie! Side note: Props to the Rocket Animatronic that was freaking awesome and it's pretty cute and Rockets my fav to so only let's me enjoy it more!!
Just watching this gives me anxiety lmao. Rode this for the first time in March, and holy cow I thought my life was flashing before my eyes. I didn't even realize I could scream that loud and I'm a full grown man. Damn near had a heart attack getting off that thing, but the rest of my group was proud of me for going on, and I'm glad I can say I actually did it. But once was enough for the whole trip. ;)
I went to disneyland and rode this for the first time (I never rode ToT) but i gotta say- this is my favorite ride BY FAR. It so fun and exciting, the rocket animatronic is amazing, the queue is awesome- I just love it!
That's what I liked about TOT! I love the whole eerie vibe it gave off. I'll miss it dearly, but I can see how some people might have hated the scariness about it haha!

I went on the ride today! I never got to go on ToT but I feel like I would have enjoyed this more. It wasn't scary, it just felt weird but I was able to enjoy myself! Can't wait for next time I go on it.

I rode this in May of this year 2019. I didn't have any idea of how the ride operated / the mechanics of the ride. I didn't know it shot you up and down dropping you. I almost pissed myself the first time I rode it. I was in the front row holding on to bar and eventually had my head digging into my brother's shoulder next to me. One of the best rides I've ever been on.
I was about to complain, but this actually looks funny and amazing from what I just saw! This is actually amazing! Disney still is not a disappointment.
I've been on tower of terror and I miss it but since I love guardians of the galaxy, I love this theme they did. I was really scared before going to Disneyland and going on it. When I was in line getting in groups for the elevators, I started to panic because I was first in first row. But when I went on the ride, it was really cool! I want to go on it again. I got the song, hit me with your best shot. Also, in the beginning in the room with rocket, Rocket raccoon looks real!
It's sad to see ToT go, but the ride isn't disappointing at all!! Joe Rohde has done an excellent job from the story to effects and ride!!! When I was little, I was so scared of horror and thriller, which I hated ToT a lot after I rode it the first time, so much I didn't want to see that ride destroyed (I know, how cruel I was). Now, I love horror movies and not scared of anything pretty much and I'm heading to Disney this week after five years and I so can't wait to ride this ride, as well as Star Tours with the new enhancements since I'm starting to be a big Star Wars fan!!!!
as probably a lot of people I had my thoughts about this re-imagination of the ToT but tbh it looks super fun and advanced. I loved the creepy hotel vibe so that will be missed but this looks just as fun.

SwimmingSkies what he saying is he practically waited half the day to ride this attraction which the duration is around 2min, he's not implying that 2 minutes is 24hrs I don't understand how you thought that. Plus Flight of the Hippogriff is a kiddie coaster and in no way should be compared to this ride, the line should be no longer than 30min from the entrance. And as to why you would wait 30min for a Kiddie Coaster is beyond me...
Darren says this because in Disneyland, people always have to be, and stay in a happy positive character, and there isn't a second where they cant be smiling, but Tower of Terror along with the haunted mansion was one of the only rides where the cast members could be unhappy and scary like, and a lot of the cast members looked forward to working as a staff in this particular ride because of that.
I LOVE THIS RIDE, props to disney, in 2018 my school the guhsdaz district in arizona Madison Number one went on a field trip to disney and our little group we got on and rode it, NINE TIMES IN A ROW FOR THE THREE DAYS WE WERE THERE EACH DAY.

I haven't been on Mission Breakout yet and I know I eventually will, but I did ride ToT thousands of times and I can already tell this ride to me doesn't fit in this section of the park and is unfair to just basically recycle the vehicles of ToT to make use for this version. It cheapens what Disney is about. Also the fact that they are changing Hollywood land into a Marvel land is absurd. Just 5 years ago they spent billions of dollars to expand and revamp California Adventure cause they heard from the audience that it didn't have Walt's magic in the park. Now that they added the 1920s element to the era that brought Walt to Los Angeles, it's being taken away to make way for this Marvel idea? Now they are once again taking away what Walt was about. Now if they have made an actual land built after Marvel somewhere else in the park, that would be better, or putting this ride at Tomorrowland since it's more futuristic. But to take away the 1920s-40s theme that ToT had to put this is insulting I think to Walt Disney and to the core fans. I believe eventually this will die down and it was way too soon to build a ride to Guardians when they barely made a part 2 of it. Right? Why didn't Disney just make a thrill ride off of Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride segment from the movie? But no. 😑

Yeah, I know what you mean, I feel the same way with Disney movies with them recycling their animated classics and turning them into live-action remakes, just feels cheap. I also can't quite picture this ride being in that section of the park either. I'll admit that I've never been to DCA or Disneyland, but it just seems kind of out of place. Once it becomes Marvelland, it'll probably fit better. That is so sad that they're changing things so much and seeming to get away from what Walt was all about....etc. At least where I am the next best thing that's like Disney is Hershey Park and for the most part they've continued on with Milton Hershey's legacy, except for the fact of abandoning the chocolate factory and setting up business in Mexico, they do still make Reese's and a few other products in Hershey. I agree, Guardians of the Galaxy is pretty popular now and you wonder if it'll remind a popular movie or not and the second movie just came out a few weeks ago.
The ride is just not the same unless you are actually on it, but hot damn, this ride was cool. Even though me and my sister hung on to my dad like our lives depended on it XD

this ride is amazing! they intensified the drops and added more! plus every time you go in you'll get a different song and different clips (they randomize between 4 i think)! it's super fun when the cast members ask you to help rocket and break them out!

Tower of Terror was my favorite ride and I was so angry about them changing it to this. I walked onto this ride with a lot of glares and sighs. I walked out laughing like I never have before. They did so well with this and though I do miss the old theme greatly, I feel like this theme is equally amazing and the ride aspect is even better. 😁

My favorite features in this ride are probably the queue and the amazing Rocket animatronic. Other than that, everything was only a bit better than expected IMO.

Neko Nightmare the Shinigami you have no idea what you missed out on I don't know what the one from Walt Disney world feels like but this one had a really eerie vibe and it was awesome I feel like this was kinda lame only thing I thought was cool was the yeti and rocket but that's pretty much it
I'm devastated that I never had a chance to go to the ToT here in L.A. because I prefer the dark, haunted, creepy ToT storyline over this light-hearted, party, humorous vibe GoTG ride has.

Just got back from Disneyland with my Mom, and I cannot believe how fun this ride is. I've never been to Disney before (i.e., any Disney park) and I must have rode GOTG a hundred times. So much fun, amazing drops, and the music really pumps you up! Glad you managed to snag video with Parliament playing, it's the best song for the ride. Easily the best ride at Disneyland.

They did pretty good even though they had that deadline. Think about, this is one of the most popular rides at DCA so they have to reTheme it quickly. With more time they'll probably upgrade it some more, making it even better!

Tower of Terror was a REALLY great ride, but I think kids will like it more now. I rode it once as ToT and once as Guardians. When was ToT almost all the kids that were riding with us were crying the whole time. But when we rode it as Guardians, there was a group of little kids on a field trip on the ride with us and they were laughing and shouting:)
I remember while I was in the ride they made the projection look real. It was amazing to go on this ride.
All of this is great, and it's easily become my favorite ride at the park, but nothing's better than a cast member as into it as your guy was.
this is no doubt the best ride in disneyland! So much fun! I feel like you dont have time to scream lol so you just laugh the whole time, such an awesome vibe!

It's really amazing! The parts where you're falling is really going to freak you out though! It was well done and completely safe enjoyable creative and entertaining I highly recommend you go on this if you aren't scared of feeling like your completely falling a few times.

This ride was absolutely the best! I went on it not once, but TWICE last week on the same night. I really enjoyed the whole ride, and the drops were so intense yet amazing! Definitely worth the wait in line.

This was one of my favorites rides when i went to Disneyland for thanksgiving last year. It was so fun and unforgettable. When watching this video i can still feel the butterflies :) I rode it 3 times in one day!!
I've never been on Tower of Terror, so the first time I went on this, I had no idea what to expect, so I watched this video before hand. I stood exactly where this guy stood in line, and sat exactly where he sat, and the same exact song played over the speakers. I've never been more pumped full of adrenaline in my entire life. This is the best ride at Disneyland. Don't @ me.
I haven't been on this yet, and already I love it. Still sad to see the Tower gone, but this looks really impressive. Cant wait to ride it. After all its still the same system, just a new theme.

Single riders line usually takes like 20 minutes tops for Radiator Springs Racers

So far what I've noticed about this ride is that the experience will be different for everyone. I'm literally talking different. Every song is different and clip of the characters are different. The drops are even different.
From going to Disney since I was little, all I can see as they walk through is TOT, I remember everything so vividly & this really does makes my heart sad. Excited to see this in person though :)

It looks fun... but honestly I think replacing it with a new attraction is better than just retheming the existing one. I mean if it's the same ride what's the point in changing it?
Again I don't think the ride looks bad... certainly not as bad as I thought it would. I just in general prefer they build something actually new.

This looks like a lot of fun! I loved how pumped tower of terror made me feel because of the horror build up, but this does looks like a laugh! Will have to go try it out, feel like it would give me a similar vibe to the RockIt Roller Coaster in Universal Studios with the music
This ride is amazing! Two things I Love about it is that 1: You get more ride time: I have rode ToT and If I recall I think this version has more ride time. 2: It's Atmosphere: I think the atmosphere in this ride is amazing! Like in the part where you wait to get on the ride (after Rockets introduction) I legit felt amazed and a bit crept out. I also felt kinda Crept out when waiting in line: mainly because The music was eerie!
Side note: Props to the Rocket Animatronic that was freaking awesome and it's pretty cute and Rockets my fav to so only let's me enjoy it more!!

Just watching this gives me anxiety lmao. Rode this for the first time in March, and holy cow I thought my life was flashing before my eyes. I didn't even realize I could scream that loud and I'm a full grown man. Damn near had a heart attack getting off that thing, but the rest of my group was proud of me for going on, and I'm glad I can say I actually did it. But once was enough for the whole trip. ;)
I went to disneyland and rode this for the first time (I never rode ToT) but i gotta say- this is my favorite ride BY FAR. It so fun and exciting, the rocket animatronic is amazing, the queue is awesome- I just love it!

I hated the Tower of Terror. It played heck with my anxiety and gave me nightmares for weeks. But this actually looks pretty awesome.
That's what I liked about TOT! I love the whole eerie vibe it gave off. I'll miss it dearly, but I can see how some people might have hated the scariness about it haha!

I went on the ride today! I never got to go on ToT but I feel like I would have enjoyed this more. It wasn't scary, it just felt weird but I was able to enjoy myself! Can't wait for next time I go on it.

I rode this in May of this year 2019. I didn't have any idea of how the ride operated / the mechanics of the ride. I didn't know it shot you up and down dropping you. I almost pissed myself the first time I rode it. I was in the front row holding on to bar and eventually had my head digging into my brother's shoulder next to me. One of the best rides I've ever been on.
I was about to complain, but this actually looks funny and amazing from what I just saw! This is actually amazing! Disney still is not a disappointment.
I've been on tower of terror and I miss it but since I love guardians of the galaxy, I love this theme they did. I was really scared before going to Disneyland and going on it. When I was in line getting in groups for the elevators, I started to panic because I was first in first row. But when I went on the ride, it was really cool! I want to go on it again. I got the song, hit me with your best shot. Also, in the beginning in the room with rocket, Rocket raccoon looks real!

It's sad to see ToT go, but the ride isn't disappointing at all!! Joe Rohde has done an excellent job from the story to effects and ride!!! When I was little, I was so scared of horror and thriller, which I hated ToT a lot after I rode it the first time, so much I didn't want to see that ride destroyed (I know, how cruel I was). Now, I love horror movies and not scared of anything pretty much and I'm heading to Disney this week after five years and I so can't wait to ride this ride, as well as Star Tours with the new enhancements since I'm starting to be a big Star Wars fan!!!!
as probably a lot of people I had my thoughts about this re-imagination of the ToT but tbh it looks super fun and advanced. I loved the creepy hotel vibe so that will be missed but this looks just as fun.
People actually waited 7 hours to ride a 2 minute ride basically they wasted there whole day and paid over 100 dollars to get in for one 2 minute ride make over.
Brian C Two minutes does not equal twenty-four hours; what the hell are you even saying? Also, Flight of the Hippogriff (a Harry Potter ride) is shorter, but the line is hella long.
SwimmingSkies what he saying is he practically waited half the day to ride this attraction which the duration is around 2min, he's not implying that 2 minutes is 24hrs I don't understand how you thought that. Plus Flight of the Hippogriff is a kiddie coaster and in no way should be compared to this ride, the line should be no longer than 30min from the entrance. And as to why you would wait 30min for a Kiddie Coaster is beyond me...

Darren says this because in Disneyland, people always have to be, and stay in a happy positive character, and there isn't a second where they cant be smiling, but Tower of Terror along with the haunted mansion was one of the only rides where the cast members could be unhappy and scary like, and a lot of the cast members looked forward to working as a staff in this particular ride because of that.

I LOVE THIS RIDE, props to disney, in 2018 my school the guhsdaz district in arizona Madison Number one went on a field trip to disney and our little group we got on and rode it, NINE TIMES IN A ROW FOR THE THREE DAYS WE WERE THERE EACH DAY.
