Israel and Lebanon had good relations until the islamists of Iran filled the power void after the civil war in the 80's. Israelis and Lebanese used to drive for weekends to party and beach in beirut/TLV.
It's quite amazing how little people actually know about this region but dont seem to stop talking about it. For all those it goes like - "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." - The mid east is nothing like NY, LA or London. The people and culture think and operate very differently than normal.
